DI Giles #4

Deep Cut: Dark secrets fear the light

Rate this book
In a tiny Hamlet in North Wales, a female recruit is murdered whilst on Christmas home leave. Detective Inspector Yvonne Giles is asked to cut short her own leave, to investigate. She is devastated that this will mean missing spending time with her mother, whom she hasn't seen in many years - not since Yvonne's father took his own life. Why was the young soldier killed? And is her death related to several alleged suicides at her army base? DI Giles thinks it is, and that someone powerful has a dark secret they will do anything to hide.

Brilliant series

I have read all the books and enjoyed them. You can read stand alone, but I suggest you read in sequence

Deep cut

I found this book hard to read as my brother was in the Army and went to the places named in the book and he lost friends from battle and suicide. The child abuse was hard to read about as I remember it being over the news .I found those parts sensitively written and I understand that was the story of the book .I found this author is able to cover hard subjects with compassion empathetic and with a good degree of understanding Another great book

Ultimate letdown

I thoroughly enjoyed the first three quarters of this book. Then it seemed , the author ran out of inspiration. I was expecting the ending to be a smorgasbord of intrigue, only to be offered a bologna sandwich. Suicides that were built to be impossible were suddenly very ordinary and the diabolical assassin was a child abused, embarrassed best friend? Really?

Another enjoyable read from Anna-Marie. This one was more about the case than any development of the main characters, but still well written and despite the title being a hint I didn't catch on to the plot until I got to the end. Suspenseful and easy to read.
Thanks Anna.
