Queen #2

Love Your Queen

Rate this book
I’ve fallen for my own tricks.

My plan to soften Crewe Donahue seems to be working, because he’s shown me a new side to him. He’s more than just the authoritative businessman with illegal dealings. He’s more than just the closeted criminal. He’s kind, thoughtful…and good to me. If I can make this plan work, I know he’ll let me go.

But I didn’t expect to be a victim in my own plot. Instead of making Crewe care about me, I’ve grown as attached to him. Instead of being a prisoner, I’m the woman in his bed. Instead of meaning nothing to him, I’ve become his confidant. I may have fooled him, but his business partner Ariel sees right through my scheme—and I’m afraid she’ll blow my cover. If she does—he’ll kill me.

I felt nothing for this man when I first arrived, but now he’s become so much more. Joseph and I have a plan to earn my freedom—and I think my brother has even more sinister intents. If I try to call it off, my brother will never forgive me. But if I go through with it…I’ll lose Crewe.

5 Smut Scale Stars

Book two was definitely my favorite of the series.

Overall Series Review:

This three-book story had so many elements that I love...mafia-ish, anti-hero possessive asshole, forced proximity with dubious consent, and really really strong chemistry between the main couple. I loved Crewe, I loved London, and I loved them so much together.

I just really loved this series and will for sure be re-reading it in the future. Highly recommend for those who like the details I mentioned above. That said, this definitely won't be for everyone, but it totally worked for me. Also, it's not what some would consider "safe," so don't try this if that matters to you.

This story was about the plan that London and his brother had spoken about in the first installment. In this one they do it so London could get her freedom but at the end…. Actually this one hadn’t really a good plot! It was more sex (and I mean 60% of the book) than a good plot! I didn’t really enjoy it as much as I expected! I got bored but I should say that the last 30% was much better! I liked that in this one Crewe went soft on her (just a bit) but I’m still confused about my feeling about him. Sometimes I liked him but one minute later I hated him! Told in dual POV, 1st person. It’s the second installment in the "Scotch" series and it ended on a cliffhanger. Hope you read it and enjoy it!

So this is going to be the review of the complete serie.

The core story was entertaining but nothing new...

Crewe background is forced... The guy is a Duke like royalty, with more money that some countries, has a scotch mega business and somehow still managed to be in the black market of information trade, it’s like there is a need to justify the kidnapping and his “dark and ruthless background” that we don’t see!
He is a little cold in the beginning and then got pussy whipped!!

London is a though girl, she is a fighter and she doesn't stop fighting… She ends up using sex to have her way and falls in love with Crewe.

I'm not one to complaint but book 2 has too much sex (like at least 3 times a day, everyday) and lacked in story developed.
Book 3 is too much drama, the story drags… London with such strong personality got push around AND Crewe was so meek… grrrr…

I'm not sure where all of these 5 star ratings are coming from. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Both sides lied and manipulated each other but London's lies were in good reason. If Crewe honestly thought she'd be happy being his "slave" for the rest of her life, then he really had another thing coming. I just don't understand how Crewe can feel betrayed by what London did when he kidnapped her. Not only that but lied to keep her there by threatening her brothers life.

Eh...😒

The last book is scheduled to come out on the 22nd. I'm just not excited about this series. I'll finish this installment because I'm no quitter lol. 🙃

Happy reading, friends! 📖❤️

While things seem to be going smoothly for London and Crewe, she is still his captive and him her jailor. Even as London starts to develop feelings for Crewe she never stops thinking about escaping. But when the time finally comes will she be able to leave the man she is falling for?
I wasn't really expecting how this book turned out but it definitely makes me want to read the next one.

Check Trigger Warnings!

Not quite as good as the first, but sequels rarely are in my opinion.

The Romance
We see a lot of progress between Crewe and London. He's granting her a lot more freedom and is much more vulnerable with her than the previous book. There's a great deal of insight into his previous relationship with his ex [more on that in a moment]. It's clear that he was prepared to never open up to anyone ever again, which makes her plan even more hurtful to him. Normally, this would make me frustrated with her, because I hate a betrayal. However, in this case, I do understand her motivation, and she did try other ways first, or would have had she been given the time she was promised.

My Icks
His freaking ex was brought up as much as London was. Nearly every chapter in his POV he brings her up. Even if it's to constantly say how much she hurt him by betraying him or how much he hated her. Clearly she is still on his mind all the time. When you have to constantly compare the person you are with to your ex, you are thinking about your ex too much.

The Other Characters
I am so sick of Joseph. He is the definition of wrong place, wrong time no matter the place or the time. I really hope Bones dies at some point. I don't even care how. He just shouldn't exist any more. He's just sick. Ariel is somehow more obnoxious in this book than the first. Maybe because we see a little more of her. Maybe because her hate of London is more personal now and for absolutely no reason. I don't know. But I can't stand her.

“Your woman has a backbone, Crewe. That’s hard to find.” -Crow
“She has a fist too, and she’s not afraid to throw it in your face.” –London

I still love London’s strength and her determination, but Crewe stole the show. My heart actually hurt for him throughout the entire book. I found myself wanting to kick London in the shin for manipulating Crewe the way she was even if it was for all the right reasons. I was a little nervous towards the end thinking I was going to end up reading a repeat of Buttons and Hate but what happens in this story is entirely different. There isn’t much of a cliffhanger per say but you will definitely want to pick up the next book to see how things play out. I appreciate the fact that the author found ways to weave in answers and insights to the characters and their decisions throughout the book without making it too obvious or breaking up the fluidity of her writing. The questions I had while reading book one and the other loose ends were tied together in this sequel and the all of the scheming and plotting was finally brought to an end. All we are left with is the passion between Crewe and London that will undoubtedly be the focus of book three and I personally cannot wait to find out what happens next.

Everything about the relationship between London and Crewe has been both titillating and tenuous at best. Their passion and lust are off the charts but they keep butting heads. They are both stubborn and decisive. In the end, you know the one with the most power will win. Crewe of course! Until they are able to reach a mutual agreement, their lives will be a see-saw.

The only thing London wishes for is to be free! She is willing to go to extremes in order to get her freedom as long as no one gets hurt. She has a plan. Why not make Crewe fall for her? Could this be possible? She knows deep down he is a gentle and loving man. Could she possibly just tap into that and ask for her freedom? With all the perils surrounding her ( Bones, Ariel, Dunbar, etc.) how can she feel safe?

I devoured this book in one day! OMG! This series is so much more than what I expected! I love our author's writing style. She is direct with a gift for painting pictures in our minds with her words. I cannot wait for the third and final installment to release.

I am voluntarily reviewing this book because it is AWESOME! Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.

After realizing that the only way to escape the Scotch King is to make him fall in love with her that's what Londons sole focus becomes and readers are subjected to at least half a book of sex. Everywhere, anytime, anyplace, any-hole etc. nothing is off the table. The way to a mans heart in this book is definitely not through his stomach!

All she really succeeds in doing is confusing her own feelings. She inks he loves her enough to free her but doesn't get the opportunity to ask him. All hell breaks lose and he most excitement comes in her last ditch effort to escape. At one point my least favorite character makes a comment about the fact the heroine being a med school drop out. Err, hello? Kidnapped? It's not like her captor is letting her finish her studies. It was odd and shows just how this author can make a reader despise a character. Onto the last book🙃

I'm sad to say I'm disappointed in this series, nothing like buttons. Hope the last one is better. There is not a lot to the story line it's before Buttons. It's just not what I expected.

I couldn’t put this series down until I finished it. That’s how good this series is. It has a lot of Angst & suspense. You never knew what was going to happen. Penelope is good at keeping you guessing. I loved that. I just had to know what was going to happen between London & Crewe. Well done Penelope!
London and Crewe move forward in their relationship. Gone are the days of him treating her like a slave. She is now a friend, companion and lover. He's obsessed with her. She plots her escape while making him fall in love with her. Part two does not disappoint. It's even better than part one. I cheered for her to get her freedom but she fell in love with her captor. It's so confusing but in a good way. I mean this relationship is so messed up. Everybody is crazy. Dramatic and action packed. Sexy as hell but damn by the ending I don't know whether to cry or scream. I'm not even sure who to be mad at.

I read this book so fast that I felt like I consumed it an hour. I don’t know what it is about this series, but I can’t stop reading it. The love interest is so powerful, but at the same time mind tricking.
Crewe is such a beautiful broken man. Like sometimes I want to smack him and hug him at the same time. Deep down all he needs is someone to love him, but everyone keeps betraying him.
London is a strong smart woman. Literally her plan to gain her freedom is brilliant even though it comes back to haunt her. Her fierceness towards the whole situation is impressive.
Overall the book was so interesting and I couldn’t stop reading. Crewe and London are beautiful together, even though they try to trick each other into doing what the other wants. The ending hurt my heart and I’m still not over it.

Recensione in ANTEPRIMA

This was a huge turnaround for me. Scotch King I was not a fan of and was not really going to give Scotch Queen a chance at all. Glad that I did. A Lot of Queen gave you more insight to the characters and how they developed into who they are and what they became. The dialogue grew drastically where old characters brought in from another series appeared to fit the mode that I came to know them in. Cane especially, ( Bones still not so much).
The only part that really got to me was how smart London is suppose to be but couldn't come to one conclusion on her own. I mean she was suppose to pre med. ( Can't really go into detail without giving out to much.)
I like reading the growth of Crewe and his feelings for London, how the author slowly changed the ways her refered to her when he spoke to other characters ( from Prisoner to his women). I recommend the 1st book be read so you get the whole story (even if I was not a fan of it) but I do think you could get away without reading it as the book progresses you get the backstory along the way.
Also.... The conclusion of this book was not what I was expecting, was not what I predicted and was truly an unexpected twist.
