All good things must come to an end...
What an amazing fucking ride.
Wild Bill and Michael made it out of the Milwaukee Vampire nest seemingly unscathed, but it turns out the Vampire Silk left a deadly time-bomb lurking under Michael's skin. It's a race against time to save Michael's life - one which causes Wild Bill to question his pacifist leanings and even call in old enemies to help save the man he loves.
I never expected Wild Bill and Michael to ride off into the moonrise on some sort or love-sick honeymoon in search of white picket fences... That's just not how these two roll. They had to go through hell before they earned their version of an HEA, but I'm so thrilled that these guys made it.
Yes, this is the end of the series, but Jordan Castillo Price obviously loves her characters (and her fans) because she's blessed us with several short stories - at the time I write this review there are three Channeling Morpheus shorts to sink your teeth into.

Anywho, I know I will be indulging in those shorts, and whatever JCP has to offer. I've read this series as the whole PsyCop series, and I am fucking WOWed by this author. Her dark sense of humor is right on par with mine. I love her characters, adore her dialogue, enjoy her realistically detailed urban fantasy worlds...
Yes, after enjoying two beautifully written series, I think it's safe to say I'm a big ol' fan.

It wasn't my weakness, laziness or apathy that had let him down. It was my worn-out, half-assed moral compass.And so, we come to the thrilling conclusion of this fabulous series. Emphasis on the word thrilling. This book packed a heart-pounding punch that kept me wide-eyed while reading. I felt all the suspense and angst pouring out of the pages.

Man oh man this had me on edge.
One knows the outcome from the beginning but that didn't console me at all.
I liked the glimpse into the far, far future what these two could possibly have if they stick with each other. This was all sorts of crazy and terror and gore, but it seems that love does prevail and it's as good as any other reason to keep on going.

Rating for the whole series
I loved this series, the bond Wild Bill & Michael have is the stuff bonds are made of. Seeing them find themselves and each other and a place to be is worth the 2 weeks I just spent with them.
JCP created a creepy, creepy world in this series, a world where it's not good to trust, where harm can come easily and frequently. Wild Bill full recognised them and his worry about how to be, how to leave with his own code fully recognises what type of world this is. So his finding his ray of sunshine, his comfort zone with Michael is so great to see.
Having read the whole series in one whole lot, I can see both advantantages and disadvantages to reading it this way. I might not have found the sex scenes a bit too much if I had taken a break between each book but then I would have missing the rollercoaster ride to the finsh which I had. And even though I might have wished to skim the sex, I didn't because JCP is a crafty one and placed plot or characters points right in there as well.

Elixir is the last story in the Sweet Oblivion series and it's an extraordinary ending to an extraordinary series.
The story is told in flashbacks and the constant switch from the quiet and peaceful present time to the chaotic past time events only adds to the excitement. I just loved the action, I loved the romance and I loved the sex. Oh and I looooove Wild Bill. He just makes me want to become a vampire. And a man. And gay. And fictional. Ah well...
I hate to say it, but I did have some peeves.
First of all: I don't think JCP did a very good job with the female side kick. She was so impossible to get a connection with that she only came across as hysterical and whiny. Not anyone I'd associate our boys with. To me, her character was completely redundant and only served to annoy me.

Besides that, I'm not completely happy with how everything ended. Don't get me wrong: I wasn't looking for complete closure or hearts and flowers and white picket fences -and I partially agree with other reviewers who say the story leaves you wanting more in a good way- but I think there was a major loose end, namely Michael's issues.
Throughout these series both men have been uncomfortable in their own skin, due to insecurities about themselves and their doings in their past and present. Though Bill seems to have been put at ease about some of his worries, I feel like Michael could have even more issues after this story.
Despite the fact that I liked the uncertainty and the ambiguity of it, this story just doesn't feel like a true ending. There could easily be another story or two... Or maybe it's just wishful thinking because I don't want to say goodbye to our boys?

A 5 because it’s the last. Damn! It’s done....this was the last story in this amazing series. It might be my favorite one because it’s the last one. Because Wild Bill and Michael go through hell and get their HEA. Because it’s HOT AS FUCK! And because all you can see is the deep love these two have for each other.

This series is incredible. Sometimes you read erotica and it's entertaining and hot, but it doesn't tell much more than what's in the book. In this series eroticism serves a purpose: Wild Bill and Michael communicate through sex, the attraction is not only skin deep, but, on the contrary, it always involves their souls, their hearts. When Wild Bill looks at Michael and can't help thinking of how he looks while they're having sex, it's not only with the eyes of lust: they're lovers in the most intimate and even noble sense. Their connection could never be explained only with words, it needs a physical expression and the sex is so mind blowing because it's meaningful, it's sharing much more than just bodily fluids. Each time they have sex, Wild Bill and Michael disclose their soul to the readers and it's scandalous because you're privy to something that should only be theirs. Their lovemaking is a celebration of their improbable love, it's acceptance, it's cherishing.
Then there's this edge of darkness always creeping in. And as always with Bill there's regret and melancholy and a void that only Michael can fill.
I'm sorry I have to let them go.

Me breaking up with Wild Bill & Michael. We've reached the end of Channeling Morpheus. I loved this series for a number of reasons. 1. The sex - hot! 2. The main MC's were entertaining and engaging and 3. They were short punchy stories that didn't try to be anything other than a short snippet of time!
I'm sad it's come to an end. It was a little rough through some of the ten + books/chapters, but otherwise another excellent Jordan Castillo Price read!

Oh man, what an amazing way to end this series! 😍 The story really evolved over the last couple of books, and this was the perfect nail-biting culmination.

Okay, that DID NOT go how I expected!
First of all, the flashback/timeline shifts were a little confusing and gave me whiplash a few times. But once I figured out what was going on...I was ok.
For the story itself: it was face paced and intense and emotional and a little bittersweet. Wild Bill was so raw and deep. His words are so beautiful and his love for Michael is immeasurable.
I cried at the end.
Overall, I am satisfied with the way this series ended, but I really hope JCP decides to write more adventures of these two in the future. I'm really, really, really gonna miss them so much!

This is the final book in this series and I am satisfied but not with the ending. This book from Bill's POV has the guys facing near death. And at every turn all the "friends" they've made along the way seem to be deserting them. They are faced with tough choices and they have to decide what kind of a couple they want to be moving forward.
Of course I wanted more from these guys. More so I felt like I wanted the series to end with a Michael POV, since that's how it began. I feel like he had more of a change to go through and I want to hear his thoughts on the direction their lives are going. He seemed to be so unsure and scattered in the last book I wanted that to get resolved. But great series either way.

Elixir is an excellent ending to an excellent series. If you haven't entered Price's Channeling Morpheus/Sweet Oblivion world yet, go download Payback (Channeling Morpheus #1)... I'll wait.

**Spoilers if you haven't read the previous stories!**
I don’t think that Jordan could had written a better ending to this series (I say this as I’ve yet to read the freebie short, “Jackpot”). Not only can you see the fruits of labor throughout the whole series but it ends with a bang. The evolution of the series, perhaps, is what this last story is really all about, mirrored in the evolution of the characters. Jordan writes a nice Author Note in this story about mirroring, but I think more than in most of past stories, the symbolism is obvious. I think it is because by this point, you can’t not understand these two characters like your best friends, at least if you’ve spent as much time with them as I and many other readers. This final story shows the two of them given the chance to break free of everything that has held them back and everything they’ve been fighting through, with the choice itself the freedom and not which avenue they take. The ending and where we leave them shows that we can leave them safe with the knowledge that though their lives will never be smooth sailing (because, honestly..) it is also safe to say goodbye. The same goes for the two of them, most opportunely shown in Bill’s point of view, that they have a future as well, and it might not be so bad.
The plot in this last story focuses on the direct aftermath of the story before. In “Swarm”, Bill and Michael stumble onto a warren of vampires, where Michael gets inked by a female vampire named Silk before they extract themselves and thank their lucky stars. Only, Silk has laced the ink with poison, and when the Swarm comes for them they’re in a sticky situation. Michael’s fucked up chemistry has a strange affect on the poison and they’re in deep shit, their only chance at saving him being a certain doctor Bill really doesn’t want to see again.
But this is where the series gets its payoff. They’ve both evolved and their behavior in the crisis reflects how they’ve changed one another. Michael means more to Bill than his Catholic guilt, and Michael finally considers what the fighting and killing means to Bill. Their recognition of the temperance they give each other leaves the reader feeling safe in their future. Their behavior in the aftermath was exactly what I expected of their covenant of sorts to put one another first.
On another note, I love how Big Red became a character of its own. I realized that I keep thinking of it as the trusty guide from typical fantasy. You know, the quest must be ended alone. That’s how this story felt for me, and Big Red had to bite the dust. It was sad, but I understood The rejuvenation of the character of Dr. Harmon, and changes we see in him and how he comes to life in the end only shows that there is hope after all.
I’ve waited a long time to finish this story, even though I’d read most of them before now — LONG before. But I’m glad I did in a way. It was nice to get a fresh impression of this last story and the one before. And I can say that I think this was a perfect ending for our pair. Whether Jordan ever decided to write more or not would be fine with me.

Good conclusion to the series. I enjoyed that Will Bill has to go outside his comfort zone and ask for help, and really showed how far he would go to save Michael. Also showed that Michael knew exact who Bill was and loved him for all that was him,

It's amazing to me how quickly I've reached the final book. And, just as I predicted, 'Elixir' is told from Wild Bill's point of view. I'm thrilled about this for a number of reasons, but primarily because, much like I got some revelations about Michael in the previous book, I'm hoping for more insight into what makes Wild Bill tick.
The best way to figure out the true strength of character within someone is to threaten the thing they love most. Wild Bill loves Michael the most. This was distinctly evident at the end of the previous book when, while going into the basement of the burned out building looking for Wild Bill's mural, they ran into over a dozen vampires living there. It was a terrifying time when Wild Bill had to use all of his nonchalance and I-don't-give-a-damn skills for them to make it out of there with only Michael getting a tattoo. Or, they thought they got out of there safely.
It seems Silk put something inside the ink she used on Michael's tattoo. Something that was causing his arm to go necrotic. As much as he doesn't want to, Wild Bill turns to Jim for help in saving Michael's arm and his life. Poor Wild Bill. My heart was actually splintering watching him try to do whatever it took to save the "heart of his heart". Watching him suffer and hope was enlightening, to say the least.
Oh. Wow. Best ending, ever. Truly. There is nothing that I would change about this series. Well, except having it continue on. I loved every minute of it. You're amazing, Jordan.

This review is basically for the whole 10 pack. Overall the series gets a 4 star. Just like everything, some are better than others, but overall JCP delivers a fantastic stories of Michael, the sometimes vamp slayer and full time lover of Wild Bill. Wild Bill is our resident vamp who falls in love with Michael and will basically do anything for him. Following them throughout the Midwest as they trip over strange happenings is fun, entertaining and will make you want to reach for the next installment. Each book changes POV from Michael to Wild Bill. Needless to say, it was easy for me to fall in love with these two.
These stories are delivered to have fun. There are more hot hot hot, let me say it again, hot sex scenes than anything else. While we get vamp slaying, family issues, religious discussions (even dare I say a confession scene with Bill), illness, etc, the stories are very focused on the relationship between Wild Bill and Michael for the majority of each story. That for me is never a bad thing as I am a character driven reader.
There are still so many stories to tell and I for one would love to read more stories about these two.

Jordan Castillo Price is one of my favorite authors and the Sweet Oblivion series does not disappoint. After finishing 'Channeling Morpheus', I was left with a craving for Wild Bill and Michael. This series went a long way to slaking that thirst, but not completely.
The story continues to evolve, always captivating, always pulling me in until it's finished, then on to the next installment. Now that I've read all 5 available stories, I still want more.
The combination of vampires with m/m is just perfect for my taste. The marvelous story, vivid characters and brilliant writing are nothing more than what I expect from Ms. Castillo and what keeps me coming back for everything she writes.
If you enjoyed any of the 'Sweet Oblivion' stories and like paranormal m/m, then by all means, check out her 'Psycop' series. Another 5 star winner that you cannot miss.

I loved this series. Wild Bill and Michael are so great together and the sex is super hot. I was a little disappointed with this final installment. While I liked the twists and turns in this book, I was really hoping for more about Michael's issues, both with the vampirism and with his latest injury, in particular. His recovery felt a bit rushed.
Throughout this series, one of the things I absolutely loved was the changing POVs. This book contains quite a few flashbacks which initially took me out of the story while I caught myself and realized they were flashbacks. Michael goes from being on death's door at the end of a paragraph, then the next starts with him going down on Bill. It just didn't seem to fit in the order of things.
All in all though, this is a fabulous series. If JCP writes any more about these two, I'll definitely be in line to read them.

One of the things that kept this story on edge was it was told from Bill's POV. We are in the present and suddenly in the recent past. What is Michael's fate? I feel Bill's deep over flowing love and devotion for Michael. If Michael died I feel Bill would end his existence. If Bill died I am not sure Michael would do the same. He loves Bill but would his heart die with Bill?
Yes there is a lot of hot, steamy exotic sex in this series, but it is important to these MCs. They need each other in the deepest parts of their souls. (If Vampires have souls.) Maybe for the first time in his existence Bill tests the limits of his vampirism and finds it lacking. I felt his desperation shout out from the pages.
The ending was not an ending. I want more.

This is the last one in the series.
I've read all of Channeling Morpheus, and the last three are probably the best, although they're all good. Already, I miss reading about Wild Bill and Michael! The author developed some interesting characters and placed them in interesting situations. How she kept the sex scenes fresh in every section, I still don't understand, but it wasn't the sex I read them for. It was the interaction between the main characters, which evolved beautifully over the length of the series. That they love each other, I do not doubt. In this last book, I finally felt how deep their devotion to each other goes.
I recommend this series without hesitation.

What a weird ending. I have like a billion questions that have been left unanswered. I also didnt like the abrupt changes in the timeline. Wild Bill would be worried about Michael and then we flash back to them having sex in the past. I think the story would have benefited from a straight chronological order that told the story from beginning to end.
I really think there could have been another 5 stories. But this was first released in 2009 so I dont think there will be any more.
If JCP ever reads this (which I doubt) Please write more.

I either have to start getting stingier with my stars or Goodreads needs to let me start giving 6 stars to some books... This certainly deserves at least that many.
I waited on purpose to write this review since I'd read all 10 books in two days and wanted to be sure my reaction wasn't the result of having spent so many hours enthralled by watching Michael and Wild Bill's relationship develop. (I also didn't want to sound like a crazy, gushing fangirl, but I think it's too late for that...) It's been two days and I've read four other books in the meantime and my reaction is still the same:
This has to be the most breathtakingly romantic book I have ever read.
I loved everything about this book. First, the structure is brilliant and amazing and PERFECT! I said at the end of my review for book #9 that JCP is a god, and this book absolutely proves it. I can't even say how amazing it was to be assured right from the start that no matter what's coming (and Wild Bill hints that some pretty bad stuff is coming) they're both okay and they're together and they're HAPPY! Knowing that let me relax into the book and enjoy it the way I normally only can on my 2nd read through--once I know how everything works out. I was so grateful that I got to spend this last book just relishing all of the time that I had left to spend with these two instead of hoping so fiercely that it all works out that I rush through the last pages of them.
Having used "breathtakingly" and "incandescently" in the same review, I now find myself out of adjectives to describe this book. All I can say is that this one is skipping over the new-favorites list and landing right in my all-time-favorites. Honestly one of the most remarkable books I've ever read. Like Wild Bill said, it was absolutely worth reading through all of the things that they went through in all of the other books in order to get to read about them here at the end.

May 11, 2011Elixir is, at least for now, the last instalment in the Wild Bill and Michael’s series; I think the author wanted to prove that these two are not your ordinary romance couple, and that the reader (me) was wrong in thinking they were heading towards a some sort of blissful 2.5 kids suburban little house peace.
First of all the novella starts with a very erotic sex scene, a scene that gives back to Michael the emo boy role he had at the beginning, making him a little more hunter and a little less boyfriend. Second the reader soon realizes the sex scene is like a leitmotiv, playing underneath the main story, that is about how both Bill than Michael need to “escape” from the blissful peace of above to survive. They are not made to be an ordinary couple, their fate is to be on the run, living in the back of a minivan and tasting the very essence of life, right from the source and not processed by “normality”.
Again then, as I noticed in a previous instalment, a little of who Wild Bill was before he was turning makes its appearance, and even more than before, the final conclusion of both Bill than the reader, is that Wild Bill is better as a vampire than he was as a human; not only he is a better “man”, he is also better partner for Michael. And facing the chance to be “normal” again (what a bad word, normal…), both Wild Bill than Michael will choose to be “wild” together and forever.

4.5 stars. The only issue I had was the time shifting without any warning or indication which kinda threw me off a little bit.
So truly this is the last chapter??? That makes me so sad since I really love reading about these two.
This series is at it's essence an epic love story between Michael and Wild Bill. It's like they are on a quest and there are pitfalls and tribulations and trials and interference and accidents. But mostly there is love.
LOVED the incident on the highway in WI that is worked into this one! Ask any insurance agent in the great state of Wisconsin, and the numbers are staggering for car vs. deer every year. It's such a Midwest thing.
And yes, there is definitely a lot of sex, but again, we learn about and learn to care about these characters so much in every single scene. They are completely necessary to the progression of the story in every single installment - not a single gratuitous moment between these two. And they are really really well written. And hot. Did I mention hot?
Please please please say that you will let us visit these characters again sometime in the future. Pretty please?? We are not above begging.

Oh my. I'm so upset that the Milwaukee vamps turned out to be so treacherous... and why?? Can't figure that one out. Silk must be just a nasty piece of work to do something like this for no reason.
I'm glad we found out a little more about Jim Harman. Now he doesn't seen quite so strange.
I was surprised that Michael said no to the elixir for Bill, but then, Bill is perfect the way he is... right? :)
I'm also glad it sounds like the damage is not permanent though it may take some serious physical therapy to get Michael's arm working 100% again. But Bill is just the vamp to get him motivated :)

When I read Swarm for the first time I said it was my favorite Channeling Morpheus. Scratch that. Elixir is my very favorite CM. Kept me on edge for a good 70% of the book, and only when I hit 89% did I exhale and my heart started beating again.
Even though I haven't expected the series to end this way, it was more than enough.
I'm sad
this was the last trip Wild Bill and Michael took us with them, but at least it was. One. Hell. Of a. Ride.

Edge. Of. My. Seat. Holy crap. It kills me that the series is over, having just discovered it and tore through it over the last few days. Elixir is incredible. Hard to say which is The Best of the Channeling Morpheus/Sweet Oblivion series because, really, they're all my favorite. This one was incredibly tense, though, and with one of the most satisfactory endings I've read in any book. I'm not usually a fan of vampire stories. Not because I don't like the idea or because I don't think vampires are hot-- because they ARE-- but because it's SO RARE to find one I really like on all levels. This series of novellas hits every single button for me. Well written, erotic, tense, funny, sweet, engaging... I can't imagine being more impressed than I was with this set.
