Osvrt:
Sigurno jedna od 3 najgore knjige koje sam ikad pročitao. Radnja je bolno neinspirirana, a likovi su potpuno neupečatljivi. Jednostavno ne razumijem što se nekome u ovoj knjizi može svidjeti. Cijela priča je užasno glupa, glavni ženski lik doslovno pokrene cijelu radnju (nakon četrdesetak stranica ničeg bitnog) izmišljajući priču o tome kako ju je jedan od Indijaca napastvovao i onda se na kraju na sudu predomisli i kaže da je lagala - i to je to. Kod knjiga s ovako skromnom radnjom obično očekujem da briljiraju na nekom drugom području, poput npr. opisa ili dijaloga, ali u ovom romanu ja nisam mogao pronaći gotovo ništa što bi mi se svidjelo. Jedino što mi je donekle bilo simpatično je tu i tamo koji opis Indije uz poneku domišljatu rečenicu. Vrlo vjerojatno ne bih pročitao ovo do kraja da mi nije bila lektira iz engleskog. Moguće da je dio kvalitete izgubljen u adaptaciji knjige za učenike engleskog, no kroz srednju školu sam pročitao nekoliko dobrih adaptacija istog izdavača koje su potpuno prenijele kvalitetu originala, pa sumnjam da je u tome problem. Uglavnom, ovo je bio veliki gubitak vremena, a jedino što mi je nakon knjige ostalo je pitanje: Zašto bi itko ikad napisao, a kamoli objavio ili preporučio za lektiru ovakvu glupost?!

Aunque la trama el diálogo y la historia en general sea bastante aburrida. Tiene ciertas partes que te enseñan las dificultades y la situación de las personas solo por pertenecer a un grupo o a una raza en concreto
