Oh dear. Accidentally I got a large print H____ Romance. Ugh.

"He looks just like the cowboy in the cigarette ads." "His large, muscular frame was covered by a shearling coat unbuttoned, [over a paunch -- nah] and a rich, bottle-green sweater. A brown Stetson [could she see inside it to the label?] was pulled low over his wide forehead and rested above straight dark brows--dark as the thick, bushy mustache that accented his strong frowning mouth." ". . . his sheer, powerful masculinity . . . sent a shiver of panic through her."

Maybe he was a short powerful Chicano? Nah. Or maybe she was a black social worker? Nah again!

Oh, well. She's a nurse; Beth's sister Sara has MS, which she hasn't told Beth about but has told Mr. Handsome / Virile / Tom about. Beth gets jealous. Oh, and he has a lovely, deep singing voice. It all works out on page 204 in my book. I gave it three stars, but only if you like this kinda thing.

She thought she'd escaped the man--and the memories. But Tom Clary suddenly appeared in Minnesota to summon her home. Without hesitation Beth Marshall left her hospital job and made the hazardous winter drive back to Cody, Wyoming, with the brash cowboy she'd tried so hard to forget.

She couldn't refuse Tom's imperious command to return to nurse her ailing sister. But how could she share Tom's house, where her sister now lived? The magic was still there, but so was the danger. Tom's searing embrace rekindled passions that had slept but never died. He swore the past was behind them. But had he really changed, or was she headed for heartbreak--again?

Quick read. Alpha hero and sort of meek heroine were married and have lived apart for a while. Hero back to claim his wife. His family plots against them. Short read. I liked it.
