Deck the haunted halls for a romantic holiday starring one shy writer and a cynical journalist...and oh yes, a ghost. . ..
Snow on the roofs and wreaths on the doors and chains on the tires. . . isn't Christmas in New England wonderful? But Charlotte Prescott is too busy taking in super-sexy reporter Sam Landry to notice the nip in the air. Make that the nip in the air alternating with the scorching heat that rises whenever she and Sam are alone together. Charlotte would be happy to forget the supernatural third wheel who seems to be staying for the season in the quaint old house she inherited. It is real. Someone's slurping down all the good eggnog. And something is drawing Charlie and Sam together under the mistletoe--not to mention everywhere else. Happy holidays!
I've always been a reader. I've also been a movie theater ticket taker, a nanny, a camp counselor, and a romance editor. Now I'm a mom and a writer who still spends most of my free time reading (when I'm not watching too much TV).
After starting off in romance with books like Hot Date and Pictures of Us, I'm writing in the genre I've always loved most, young adult fiction. (My very first completed novel, which will live forever under my bed, was a young adult novel!) Cold Kiss will be available from HarperTeen in September 2011.
Continuing with my Christmas theme and the first book I've finished in what feels like forever (but is really more like a month). I can't say I love this. First, the whole ghost thing was rather hokey. And then... well, there was just some pretty bad writing. I mean... during one "romantic" scene, the narration goes off on a tanget about how the MC has to finish her book and the guy isn't going be around, etc. etc. To me it read like the MC mind was wandering, which seemed a little strange because their physical relationship was supposedly so explosive that it was mind blowing. Or maybe she meant like "blowing in the wind" because it didn't seem like she was very present.
I’m not sure what I expected in this book, but I didn’t expect it to be a sex romp from room to room without much romance or story. The writing was choppy - jumping from character to character and scene to scene without hardly a paragraph return. Too many changes of POV (point of view) within a scene or chapter. I didn’t finish the book...too many good writers out there to waste time on one who needs training. If you enjoy hot sex scenes and don’t get bothered by writing details, this could be fun for you...just not for me.
This book was a bit of a let down for me. The story line had some potential and it started off pretty good, but it took a nose dive pretty quick. The idea of the main character's meeting because of the ghost was cute. I liked the instant, mutual attraction they had to each other, but I do think the author took that a little too far, and a lot too fast. Then there was the secret that Lillian is hiding....there is such a build up to it, that when she actually shares it, I was extremely let down.
3.5 stars...This was an "interesting" read. The love scenes were better, longer, and more numerous than I expected. That being said, the overall premise was fine, but the resolution...weird. In a nutshell...great romance with a weak/anti resolution to the mystery. The end was "Christmasy" so a decent light, seasonal read.
This was a cute book. Good story line. Intense attraction between H/h. It wasn't one of those books that I just couldn't put done. I had no problem letting the story sit until it was time to read before bed.
Just the cover of this book made me want to read it. The sad part is it's the best part of this book. The story fell flat to me. I really didn't get to know the characters and I have to say I just didn't really care about them. It was a boring book.
I really enjoyed this book until the end. The ending pissed me off so bad that I gave the book one star. The buildup for the ghost was good. Then the reveal/solution happened. I read this and was like “wait what????” throws book across room.
