Make Me is the standalone, or its all books in the serial of "Make Me". I read all of it together, so technically it could still count as a standalone.

Make Me was such a fascinating erotic romance and I had a blast with this one. Beth Kery is an author I recently started reading, and every time I pick up one of her books I am always stunned by how well written her books are. I am not sure what took me so long in the reading of this author as I have heard about her for quite a few years now. But she is just stunning in how she captivates the reader. Now this is what I would term "Erotic Romance" Its going to be a bit different than regular contemporary although just as beautiful and heartfelt as some of her more contemporary leaning books.

Make Me is a story that revolves around our two protagonists: Jake and Harper. Now there are two timelines that we are introduced to, the current tense with Jake and Harper. And then we have a timeline for when Jake and Harper were young teenagers. We see their journey as kids, and then also as adults. Harper doesn't recognize Jake from her childhood, even though he knows who she is. But as they are neighbors, they connect and start a casual relationship, with it only being exploring physical intimacy between them. Jake is into BDSM and it turns out that it works for Harper as well. But as they explore each other physically, more builds between them. But can Jake trust adult Harper as she is now a journalist? Will their past resurface? And what future holds for Jake and Harper?

This was one of the most unique second chance romances. I am not sure why Harper didn't recognize Jake, but when you learn about her journey you see a reason for it. But I did love seeing both of them grow in this story, seeing how they connect, the way the intimacy between them is built. I have found that Beth Kery handles erotic romance so so well. It just has such a classy elegant feel to them while also working on relationship building even if its not apparent on the surface. Beth Kery did an amazing job with this one. I was so in tune with these two and just wanted them to reach their HEA. I definitely was hooked in this story and I think if you love audio narrations, you definitely should check it out, although fair warning that its super long.

I think what made this book so special though is seeing them grow in their relationship as adults and seeing how slowly Harper comes to the realization of why Jake is so familar to her. And yes she does come into the truth on her own, and I did LOVE that. I love that she realized it without Jake having to tell her. And man poor Jake, I felt so hard for him. But he is so understanding of Harper and his love is so true for her and I just couldn't get enough of his pining.

Overall I found Make Me to be delicious treat for this romance reader, it built so slowly in the intimacy in a profound way that had me on edge of my seat all the way through! AN ADDICTING JEWEL!

What is meant to be will always find its way.

There is not much more exciting as a reader and/or blogger than meeting a book you’ve been dying to read or an author whose work you’ve wanted to meet for a while. The giddy delight I get when I meet a new or new-to-me author’s words is BOOKWORM BLISS! That rush during that initial read is off-the-charts incredible! I popped my Beth Kery book cherry and oh what a blast this brilliant book was from beginning to end!!! Spellbinding, smoldering, and suspenseful, Make Me burns the body and steals the soul in a story that is PURE MAGIC!!!

I fell in INSTANT LOVE with Make Me, an achingly addictive love story that held me hard, heating my body…hijacking my heart…HIJACKING ME. The entertaining and enticing writing was delicious…a delight to devour. This book BURNED—so blazing HOT—where I melted into molten lava!

The meticulous and magical writing was pure intensity and intoxication. I could not put this fierce and flaming tale down. Alluring. Amusing. All-consuming. I WAS ALL IN!

Beautiful copper-haired and blue-eyed Harper McFadden is an investigative journalized who left the big and busy life in San Francisco for a slower life in Lake Tahoe where she hopes to find peace. Instead she finds the elusive and gorgeous software mogul, Jacob Latimer. Tall and muscular with dark hair and hazel eyes, Jacob is a hot god.

“We all feel the need to hide away at times in our life. To forget the past.”

“I can help you forget, Harper.”

Harper and Jacob’s chance meeting feels like fate, and Jacob, who doesn’t get close to anyone, may let Harper unlock the key to his heart. Jacob may be what and who Harper needs to heal from her painful past.

“I can’t think straight when you kiss me.”

“I can’t think straight when I kiss you either.”

Their chemistry is combustible, forged by fate and powered by passion. I felt that passion penetrate through the pages to me!!!

“I want you at my mercy. I want to know that every ounce of pleasure that you get, every rush of sensation, every orgasm, was due completely to me. I want to own it.”

Jacob’s sexy and seductive words made me wanton, turning me into a minx. I sank under his spell. This man…so enthralling and enticing is PURE PERFECTION. I was OWNED by Jacob. I WAS OWNED BY MAKE ME .

Harper and Jacob’s connection is palpable, more than a physical need. Their emotional link is a strong bond, one that’s strength will be tested upon a reunion with the painful past.

“It’s a feeling of connection. Who knows where something like that comes from? Maybe you don’t feel it but—“

“I feel it.”

Oh I felt the connection too with Make Me. This achingly addictive and alluring book left me BREATHLESS. I LOVED this soul-searing and scintillating story!

A sinfully sexy story swathed in suspense, Make Me was SHEER BRILLIANCE! The twists and turns keep me hanging on THE EDGE, as Make Me endlessly enthralled me. I’m still MELTING for more Make Me .

4.25 stars--- MAKE ME (releasing as an eight part serial) by Beth Kery is a stand alone, erotic, romance story line focusing on billionaire Jacob Latimer, and investigative journalist/editor Harper McFaddan.

NOTE: This is a review for the entire serial.

Told from dual third person points of view using memories, flashbacks, dreams and present day MAKE ME follows the building relationship between Jacob Latimer and Harper McFaddan-a second chance of sorts-for two people whose lives, almost two decades earlier, intertwined their heart and souls.

Harper McFaddan recently moved to Tahoe Shores from San Francisco to start a new chapter in her life (following the death of her parents) but meeting reclusive billionaire Jacob Latimer finds our heroine caught between wanting to move forward and being pulled into the past. Jacob Latimer is a software entrepreneur whose secrets run deep; and little to nothing is known about his past. What ensues is a slow building romance between Jacob and Harper, as Jacob struggles with revealing the truth to the woman who calls to his soul.

MAKE ME is a sexually aggressive and graphic storyline with scenarios of bondage, rope play, and anal $ex that may be issues for some sensitive readers. Jacob is a man who likes control both in and out of the boardroom, and finds himself needing to claim Harper as his own. His fears of ‘losing’ Harper cause many anxious moments for a man whose reputation is cold and aloof. But little do most people know that Jacob is a man who has a need to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

The majority of the story line focuses on the relationship between Harper and Jacob interspersed with a series of flashbacks and dreams that will trigger memories from the past. We are introduced to Jacob’s inner circle-the people who know him best-yet the same people who know nothing about the boy he once was.

MAKE ME is an imaginative and spirited story line about betrayal and loss; grief and heartbreak; falling in love and letting go of the past. The premise is dramatic; the characters are captivating and intense; the romance is a slow build of passion, desire, wants and needs. MAKE ME is an erotic tale about fated lovers whose lives were destroyed by a single moment in time, but brought together for a second chance at forever and love.

Jacob Latimer has a past and it's not a good one. He's worked very hard to reinvent himself from that scrawny, helpless little boy to one of the most powerful men in the world. But when he runs into Harper one morning on the beach, everything he's built threatens to crumble. And all because of the one girl he could never have.

Harper McFaddan moved to Tahoe Shores to regroup. After losing her parents, she feels lost and the pace of the big city becomes too much for her. When she meets Jacob, he's not familiar to her at all. There's nothing about him currently that connects him to the boy who saved her many years ago. But as they get closer and closer, Harper's memory starts to realize that there may be more to this man then meets the eye.

I'm normally not one for erotica but this one held my interest. I pretty much read the whole thing on the edge because I was just waiting for Harper to connect the dots. It was a very predictable plot but honestly, I feel like most eroticas are. There's a formula and, hey, if it works, why fix it?

I enjoyed reading about Jacob and how he was able to turn his life completely around. I mean, this was a kid who came from nothing and is now one of the richest in the world. The sex scenes were done well and not overused like a majority of eroticas I have read. Yeah, I know, how dare I want plot amid my sex! And while their backstory was interesting, it definitely was heavy with the drama. And man, did the drama just keep coming. It was also extremely long, but since this was a serialized story, the individual parts made sense to be a little long because when you're only getting a little at a time, you always want more. But put all together, it made for a rather lengthy read for romance.

Overall, it wasn't anything that was exactly new (rich, playboy dom wants demure, wholesome girl) but I enjoyed it.

I received an e-copy of the novel from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Harper is an investigative journalist who needs a change after tragedy strikes and she loses her parents. Hoping a change of location and a slower pace will help her heal, she moves from San Francisco to a small town in Lake Tahoe and takes a job editing a local newspaper. Her new simple life takes a turn when she meets the mysterious bad boy software creator, Jacob. She can't help being intrigued by him and wanting to uncover the mysteries surrounding him and his business.
Jacob is private. He avoids the media and tries to keep out of the spotlight. A former investigative reporter is the last person he should be involved with, but he can't help his attraction to Harper. Can a man who depends on secrets and privacy for survival let someone who asks questions for a living into his life?

Make Me combines all 8 serial volumes into one book. I'm very happy to have read this all at one go, not sure I could have dealt with the suspense at the end of each volume. Kery always brings the heat and gives readers compelling characters with sizzling chemistry. Jacob and Harper continue that tradition. They had instant chemistry and I ate up each page these two shared. Add in a heaping dose of suspense and I could not read this book fast enough. This is a perfect story for anyone who enjoys a well written suspenseful erotic read.

This is a much better read than the last BK's novel that I read which was Looking Inside. I find the chemistry between Harper and Jacob was more convincing and they were scorching hot together! Love the backstory but even more than that, I like how level headed Harper could be. I think that's one of the reason why I think Make Me works for me. Harper doesn't get on my nerves like Eleanor from Looking Inside got on mine.

Make Me is the newest serial novel from Beth Kery. There are 8 parts to this story with the first part releasing April 5, 2016 and part 8 scheduled to release May 24, 2016. I am not a fan of serial novels, but for me Beth Kery is the exception. Her stories are always so good that I know it will be worth the wait to get the whole story. Luckily I was able to read the whole story at one time, and let me tell you that it is definitely worth the read! Beth Kery never disappoints, and the Make Me serial is another fantastic read from her.

After a tragedy took her parents away from her, Harper McFadden moved from San Francisco to a small town on the shores of Lake Tahoe. Looking for peace, Harper never expected to meet the mysterious Jacob Latimer. Jacob is known for being a successful entrepreneur building his software company up from nothing, but rumors of shady business dealings have left many trying to dig deeper into his past. Jacob knows that the last person he should let near him is Harper, a journalist known for her investigative skills. Yet the connection between Harper and Jacob is more than either of them can fight and they find themselves unable to stay away from each other. But with secrets between them, can Jacob make Harper his or will the truth destroy any chance of a future together?

I really liked both Harper and Jacob. I felt the chemistry and connection between them right away, and with each new piece of information revealed I couldn't get enough of them! There was so much more to each of these characters than you see at first glance, and I really liked getting to know each of them better. Jacob was determined to make Harper his, yet he also knew that she was the one person that could expose everything he has hidden. Harper was looking for peace and healing after losing her parents, yet she was drawn to Jacob right away and couldn't fight the pull she felt to him. These two were great together, and I loved seeing how things played out for them.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one from start to finish. I am so glad that I didn't have to wait for the entire story, but let me tell you it is definitely worth it even if you do have to wait. The 8 installments are short and easy to read, and they leave you anxious for more. Jacob and Harper's story was impossible to put down, and I was intrigued right from the start. I don't want to go into details so I don't spoil the story, but I was surprised with all the twists and turns and I had to know what would happen next. Beth Kery is a fantastic writer, and this serial was filled with steam and emotion, as well as mystery and intrigue. I highly recommend this and any of Beth Kery's stories, and I already can't wait for more from her.

Don't get me wrong, I love erotic romances but I don't just want long passages - pardon you - of sex. I love erotic romances that have well-developed characters who have a completely immersive relationship. Erotic romances don't always have the most complex plots, but if you fall in love with the leading couple, you don't need that element.
I do not feel that 'Make Me' was well enough developed in either plot or characterisation. I felt that both Jacob and Harper were a little too flat to really support, and with a simple plot there was very little substance in a book that was over 500 pages long.

I couldn't warm to Jacob at all throughout the novel. His character was secretive and he hid himself from many of the other characters, but the reader should have been his confidante. There was never any depth to his thoughts, and we didn't see any real emotion unless it was lust. He was controlling, arrogant and distant, what is there to fantasise about there?

Harper was much warmer and I felt that I knew her better, but she wasn't alive to me. I wanted to know more of the details; Did Harper play with her hair while she worked? Did Jacob listen to embarrassing 90s boybands while he worked out? What were the tiny details that make characters come alive to the reader? As a reader, I'd rather have pages dedicated to these elements than just sex.

Something that also annoyed me was that Harper was constantly discombobulated, confused or consternated. She was always frowning at Jacob or trying to understand his mood swings. I didn't feel her affection for him at all, at least, not outside of her physical attraction. There was just too much romp and not enough romance and relationship development. Jacob was cold and distant at the start, and he was still the same at the end. They lacked intimacy.

Contrastingly, I loved the telling of their past. This element had the detail, the development and the level of intimacy. It was a much better read, and I wonder why that skill wasn't translated into the adult story.

There wasn't any discernible plots beyond the relationship. I thought that Harper's career would become more of an obstacle, but it was dealt with fairly early on. I thought that Regina might cause more of an issue, but she was also dispatched from the main plot. There were a number of would-be subplots, but they all fizzled out without igniting.

In summary, this was too long a novel to support the low level of emotion and the simplistic plot. If it had been shorter, then I feel like it may have gotten away with it a bit more. There was too much concentration on lust and not enough on romance and characterisation.

This is the second time I have read a Beth Kery series and like the first, this didn’t disappoint!

'Make Me' series by Ms. Kery is an erotic tale of many short books that include twists, turns and have an abundance of love that will have you begging for more.

Harper McFadden moves to Tahoe to escape the loss of her parents and make a fresh start. She takes on the editing job at Sierra Tahoe Gazette. An invitation to the mysterious business tycoon Jacob Latimer’s residence has her co-workers and herself in a confusion. Nobody gets invited to his residence; which has Harper questioning why her? There is something about Jacob that pulls Harper to him, it’s like deja-vu that she can’t quite put her finger on.

Jacob keeps to himself and does not let anyone get close to him or his past. He had a rough way of growing up with an abusive and evil of a man; Emmett Tharp. Jacob and Harper do have a past, in which Jacob saves Harper from his uncle. When they meet up in present day, she does not recognize him, having him dumbfounded. Harper brings out emotions in Jacob that he has held dormant for so long. What will it take to have Harper remember their past?

A compelling erotic story of soulmates reunited after 20 years. I had a wonderful time reading Jacob and Harper’s story. The love that you encounter between the two, past and present is swoon worthy! Jacob stops at nothing to have Harper; through his words and actions has you melting!

As a reader you travel back 20 years to get the full aspect of how Jacob and Harper meet and the struggles they have as two 13 year olds. You get the full gist of why Jacob is the way he is. I sometimes wish Harper had more of a backbone and made Jacob work harder on their relationship since he would turn cold on conversations, but overall it was an amazing tale!

Make Me was originally released as an eight part serial, this is the serial in it's entirety. It is a standalone erotic romance. We meet Harper McFadden and Jacob Latimer on a beach in Tahoe Shore. Harper has just taken a job as newspaper editor to get away from the stress of investigative journalism and to heal from the recent death of her parents. Jacob well he is a reclusive billionaire - with a hidden past that we learn about through the story and he knows Harper who has no recollection of who he is.

The story is told by both characters through dreams, memories and present day. It's a second chance romance of sorts even though they were both children. One with memories and the other with none (it seems that her father was able to wipe the sordid details away.)

Ms. Kery, entwines the past and present beautifully. We learn about each character and the story will keep you guessing as to the final outcome. Her story lines are solid, her characters are strong. The erotic aspect of the novel doesn't take away from the forward motion.

If you are in the market for a wonderfully written, story with a bit of mystery and a bit of a different twist on a second chance romance, I highly recommend Make Me!

Beth Kerry always amazes me. Every. Single. Time. She's such a great writer. This one didn't disappoint.

Having been saved when she was a 12 year-old child by a sociopathic kidnapper, Harper runs into the skinny little boy, now a man, who was responsible for her saving life from his uncle, but she doesn't recognize him. How could she? Who knew Jake Tharp would grow up to be the tall, strapping, delicious Jacob Latimer?

And Jacob Latimer was all too eager to keep it that way which is one aspect of the book I couldn't understand. But his life had changed, he had changed and he didn't want to look back and in not looking back to who he was, he was struggling with the persona he had created in its place.

He would say things and Harper would have a sense of de ja vu and not be able to explain why. All the pieces finally came together. To me, that was the best part of this book, knowing the man she was falling in love with was the boy she never really forgot.

Review " " to be going up at H&H
I really loved this though - and the psychological angle.
The emotions - oh my god the letters; one of them made me tear up.

There's so much going on but it isn't BAM ACTION - it's so cerebral but not because there IS a lot that happens, and so much for Jake to overcome. Harper too, but she had her support group - although that had pitfalls too.

I so enjoyed reading and re-reading this book, and really really really hope Ms. Kery writes more like it.
I don't care for the BDSM - so if that goes, I'm good - but the storyline, the romance, her writing and voice? Yes.

This is a re-read for me, and I still loved it as much as I did the first time I read it. Jacob and Harper have difficult pasts. But they both have a connection to each other.

Harper just moved to a new town while dealing with her parent's death. Jacob is a very private person. These two just can't fight the pull to one another.

I enjoyed the twists in this story. These two have a great story and deserved happiness.

It is not a bad book but it is not a good book either, it is meeeehhh. There are parts that are good but this could have been a short story if 90% of the sex was taken out. I am usually one to scream for more sexy scenes but it has to go along with the plot, in this case, almost all the plot was about the past, I mean seriously, teenagers were way more developed characters than the present ones. I think the author has potential but it really needs to develop more. I am not trying to be mean, I really wish her a lot of success and I think that if she had a better editor, this would have been smashing!

Make Me is actually an interconnected series of short installments that were later compiled into one novel. It follows Harper McFaddan. She leaves behind a painful past and relocates to Lake Tahoe. There, she meets Jacob Latimer, a powerful, enigmatic tech mogul. Their relationship is charged with attraction, but also danger and secrecy, since Jacob carries a mysterious past of his own.

Tropes you’re signing up for:

Billionaire with secrets
Damaged heroine trying to outrun her past.
Obsessive, magnetic attraction that’s one part desire, one part danger.
Power imbalance that isn’t as simple as it looks.
The heat level is off-the-charts, door-kicked-wide-open, “do not read this on a crowded plane” spice. Beth Kery doesn’t just turn up the heat; she rewires the thermostat. The writing is silky and decadent. Kery builds tension the way a maître d’ pours champagne: slow, deliberate, and always with a flourish.

Harper McFadden flees a traumatic past and relocates to Lake Tahoe. She wants peace. She gets Jacob Latimer.

Jacob Latimer isn’t just a tech billionaire. He’s a dangerously magnetic man who seems to know far too much about Harper. From the start, it’s an obsession disguised as a coincidence.

Their chemistry? Nuclear. Every time they’re in a room together, it feels like the walls will combust. But Jacob’s intensity always comes with a whiff of menace. Jacob has secrets stacked higher than his bank account. He’s not simply drawn to Harper. He’s been watching her. He’s studying her. It seems as if he’s been waiting for her to show up. Creepy? A little. Hot? Also, a little.

Harper’s past isn’t just tragic. It’s deadly. She survived a brutal crime years ago, one that left her with scars she can’t shake. That trauma is the reason she ran, and it ties her fate directly to Jacob’s world. Jacob isn’t just the mysterious lover; he’s deeply entangled in the shadows of Harper’s trauma. His interest in her isn’t purely chance; it’s fate, obsession, and maybe even guilt.

By the final chapters, Harper and Jacob are entwined in a relationship forged in fire. Love, lust, and loyalty collide in ways that make the pages practically smolder.

Make Me isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s a tempest of passion, obsession, and emotional stakes that leave you breathless. Kery proves romance doesn’t have to be safe. It has to be unforgettable, and this one certainly is.

Fans of billionaire romances, high-stakes obsession, and erotic suspense, you will want to buckle up for this ride. It’s filled with danger, secrets, and relentless heat.

Rating: ★★★★☆ – Hot, intense, and impossible to put down.

I read this full series in the compilation edition, and I think I'd have had a better experience if I read them separately upon release.

The Make Me series is an erotic tale following two protagonist that share a hidden past. Told in alternating POVs and in alternating timelines, the reader experiences the tumultuous affair of Jacob and Harper as adults, and the harrowing time in their pasts when they relied on each other for survival.

This novel wasn't what I was expecting--it had more intrigue than I planned for, and that's what kept me turning the pages.

I liked the past perspectives much better, as I found it thrilling, engaging, and poignant. I wish there were many more scenes of them together and I think this author would do justice to some Young Adult fiction. However, this book is an erotic romance, so the focus is the present as Jacob and Harper navigate their seemingly sudden and strong feelings for each other. One of them knows of their connection, and the other... this we're unsure of. The author teases the reader, and I was so thirsty for the big reveal that I got frustrated as the novel went on and I had to skim the sex scenes.

But, that's my own annoyance. I'm sure readers who love erotica will enjoy the moments when Jacob and Harper physically connect. I will say that they weren't gratuitous and that the author conveyed layers of emotions during those steamy times. Ultimately, the scenes are pretty romantic.

Gripes aside, this was a pretty compelling read for me, if a little longer than it needed to be. I ended up very satisfied once I finished reading it, and I do recommend it to anyone who's in the mood for an erotica with layers, featuring two characters with great chemistry and compelling backstories.

This review was written by Marie for a guest review post on Ever After Book Reviews blog:

This serial novel wasn’t what I was expecting, it was so much better.

Over the span of 8 serials, the up and down romance of Harper and Jacob unfolds. It’s a raw and emotional story that delves deep in to the meaning of what true love is. Betrayal, forgiveness, passion, eroticism and romance all come together to deliver an amazingly powerful and steamy telling of the fates that brought these two together.

Ms. Kery’s undeniable ability to tell an incredible tale is apparent from page one. She draws you in, keeps you frantically turning pages, and makes you experience every single emotion right along with Harper and Jacob. It’s a wonderful book, and one that I can honestly say was a pleasure to experience.

If you’re new to Beth Kery, or a seasoned veteran, this is a must-have on your TBR (to be read) pile.

***I voluntarily read a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and feelings are my own***

4.5⭐️ WOW!
What a beautiful erotic story. This is an 8 books series in one novel. I highly recommend reading it as one whole book as opposed to it broken up.

I love smut and it has its time and place. But this story and plot is so emotionally charged and beautifully written to be called smut. The sexy times are definitely scorching (vanilla can’t be found here). This is such a poignant journey for both main characters. A very interesting second chance romance. You see how they met and their trauma they endured as kids and what they’ve accomplished as adults.

I just wanted all the secrets to come out! Although I knew the main secret, I definitely didn’t see the other secret coming! What a doozy!

And the letters at the end??? Tissues are in order, or it’s just that time of the month for me lol.

This is my first time reading from Beth Kery but not the last. I’m going to check out her other books to see if this was just a one hit wonder.

4.5 stars rounded up. It's like What's Wrong With Secretary Kim? meets Fifty Shades, except if I actually liked Christian Grey, the sex was better, and so was the writing. Was going to be a solid 4, but the last 20 minutes of the book plus the love confession really bumped it for me.

I genuinely do think this was written well, but... with that being said, if she used the word "penetrate" one more time, I would have lost my mind. It wasn't even during the spicy scenes, she just said it for everything.

This may have been a long ass book (18+ hours on the audiobook), but I was never bored, and the payoff was definitely worth it.

Make Me by Beth Kery is a long-awaited amalgamation of all 8 of the books in her Make Me serial. Very exciting for me, as I am not a fan of serial series.
Harper McFadden has moved to Tahoe Shores after the death of her parents to regroup. She takes a job at the local paper. Then, she meets software mogul Jacob Latimer who has secrets of his own.
This story is told through flashbacks and current day. Jacob may appear cold, but he's a man who likes control in and out of the boardroom. If you like BDSM then you'll love this book. Jacob is a hot alpha and Harper is a strong woman who needs what Jacob offers.

I’m still swooning, I think. This is such a beautifully crafted book: well written, beautifully strong and vulnerable characters, complex and thrilling plot, and deliciously spicy encounters.

Make Me is an 8 part series (I listened to the complete series on audiobook) that explores a developing relationship between Harper and Jacob. But this isn’t the first time they’ve met. Kery does an outstanding job weaving this incredible complex and interconnected plot, jumping between the present and 20 years prior, whilst also navigating the intricacies of identity, dominance and submission, memory, trauma, and the strength in vulnerability. And some of the hottest scenes I’ve ever read.

Initially, this book drew me right in. I devoured the first 200 pages or so. But then, it dragged and became kind of repetitive. I think that’s because this was initially 8(!) different books that were then put together into one. It’s definitely a “smutty” book (think a lighter, better written 50 Shades with a much better heroine). I liked the backstory of the characters, and think that was well written. But this was about 150 pages too long, and I even started skimming over some stuff towards the middle/end of the book.

LOVED that this is a novel!! I have no idea how ones’ mind can compartmentalize a story like this and yet tie it up in a nice silk bow but I’m so grateful for this author and this book. I’m a treadmill reader (only allowing myself to read if I’m on it) and it took me 11 days but I was able to knock out 55 miles. All of this while falling in love with Jake and Harper’s story👍❤️
