The Battle of the Alamo is about to be fought all over again! William J. Johnstone, the author of "Vengeance is Mine" and "Invasion USA " sounds another wake-up call with his latest action-packed novel set on America's most dangerous battleground: its own border.
Remember The Alamo
Only career politicians could dream up a stunt like this: courting the growing Hispanic community that keeps them in office, the geniuses in charge in San Antonio agree to grant temporary dominion over the Alamo to the Mexican government for a week-long celebration. That doesn't sit too well with Gulf War vet Phil Cody, who remembers his Texas history.
With veterans from wars as far back as WWII, Cody organizes a nonviolent protest on the day of the handover. But word comes from Mexico that the reconquistadors--anti-American extremists determined to reassert Mexican control over the southwestern U.S. by the bloodiest means necessary--are planning to take over the Alamo permanently. Peace becomes war.
Despite ample warning, the American authorities twiddle their thumbs when the reconquistadors make their move, leaving it up to Cody and his band of patriots, who are seriously outnumbered and outgunned, to protect the Alamo. Left out to dry by their own government, history repeats itself as Americans are once again besieged and forced to take a stand to preserve their heritage.
When this battle is over, America will have a new reason to Remember The Alamo.

This book amazed me> I didn't think anyone could write about the Alamo and it be as good as the history of the Alamo. But this author did. It's a very good read and I think it's well worth the time it takes to read. I didn't want to put it down to do things I had to. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes action and suspense.
Johnstone delivers a fun romp down a possible timeline where Mexico manages to get the US to hand over ownership of the Alamo for a weekend. Unfortunately it is a trick, and while a group of Texan Patriots try to protest, the Mexican Army decides to "handle" the problem. And so begins the Second Battle of the Alamo. Great fiction, a fun trip off the logic grid. Hey, the suspension of disbelief is what makes these books so fun. Johnstone also manages to use this platform to make a few interesting, telling, and cutting political statements.
I enjoyed this story just as much as I did all the others from the author. It is extremely enjoyable to read stories like this in this crazy world we are living in today where all our old-school values and morals are Mo and degraded every day.
My 1st Johnstone book and wow, what a thriller! It was fantastic! Felt like you personally met the characters and their actions kept you glued to pages so not to miss anything. Not to mention how possible the plot could be today. Highly recommend and share!
'Remember the Alamo' is a fun book by the Johnstone Clan. Albeit beyond preposterous. The writing is looser than other Johnstone books. The characters are pretty good, though not as sharp as in other books.
The plotting is sloppiest involving the Hillary Clinton-type president that is demo-goding a situation involving the Alamo. It's written that Congress is behind her, but little more is mentioned about the Congress, the Cabinet or much of anyone else in charge. Some unbelievable situations occur and the Clinton-type is riding herd to her goal. That's an interesting stance to take if she had first released Congress from it's handle of guiding the nation. Otherwise, Congress would've stepped in to any number of degrees to intercept even to support her.
None of that happens. The book is written as Alamo vs. Washington. There are some real bad guys who started all this, but they start to slide in importance as the book runs along.
Unfortunately, the characters seem to run together, especially involving the good guys. In other Johnstone books, the characters and their story help enormously involving rocky stories. The Dave and Caroline Rodriguez characters are the mostly compelling to me and it would be nice to see the Johnstone Clan explore those two further in another book.
The book is still fun to read. The characterization of those in the White House are sometimes as much fun as they are shocking. This Johnstone Clan book takes the ultra-liberal president character to heights hard to imagine.
Bottom line: I don't recommend this book. 4 out of 10 points
I thought that this book was an excellent book that really captured the devotion to freedom and the sacrifice made by those who died at the Alamo. This book is a very good book that details every day of the bloody fight that ultimately resulted in Santa Ana's men winning a decisive last battle and killing all of the Texan men and burning the mission to the ground. This book details some of the most notable soldiers at the Alamo including David Crockett and the Tennessee volunteers along with Jim Bowie and William Barrett Travis. It also talks about the fight that resulted before Santa Ana's men even laid foot in Bexar County. It talks about the Texans decision to take up arms at the mission and their decision to continue to fight until the last day. It is a very historically accurate and informative book and I enjoyed reading and learning about one of the most decisive battles that ultimately gave Texas its freedom. I highly recommend you read this book because I believe you would enjoy it just as much as I did.
This was a very engaging novel that I could not put down. The story immediately drew me in and was extremely topical. I would recommend this for any right wing conservative, as it tells a story that we all know could happen as we continue to make concessions to our neighbors to the south. The liberal mindset would also enjoy this as a wakeup call and the answer to "be careful to what you wish for".
While I enjoy most all books by Mr Johnstone, and particular the one's with John Howard Stark as the central figure, I FIRMLY disagree with his bent on the current state of U.S. politics! I feel he's got things reversed - The Democrats being the "bad guys" and the Republicans the down-trodden little folk. Point in mention - look at Trump and the current mess of the GOP!!
Beyond this, his novels are well written and interesting.
Most underrated book I've read. Had it for years and decided to give it a go as it was free. Well, it was amazing! If you aren't a patriot after reading it, you never were. It is fiction, but the events could very well happen and so it grabs your attention in that respect. Definitely one of the best I've ever read.
