The fairies are going green!

Narinder Dhami was born in Wolverhampton, England on November 15, 1958. She received a degree in English from Birmingham University in 1980. After having taught in primary and secondary schools for several years she began to write full-time. Dhami has published many retellings of popular Disney stories and wrote the Animal Stars and Babes series, the latter about young British girls of Asian origin. She lives in Cambridge, England with her husband and cats.
Sue Bentley was born in Northampton, England. She worked in a library after completing her education and began writing for children once her own began school. Bentley is the author of the Magic Kitten, Magic Puppy, and S Club series and lives in Northamptonshire.
Linda Chapman has written over 50 children's fiction books, including the following series: My Secret Unicorn, Stardust, Not Quite a Mermaid, and Unicorn School. She lives in Leicestershire with her husband and daughters.
Sue Mongredien was born in 1970 and grew up in Nottingham, England. She has published over 100 children's books, including the following series: The Adventures of Captain Pugwash, The Magic Key, Frightful Families, and Oliver Moon. She has also contributed many titles to the Sleepover Club series and written picture books. Mongredien created the Royal Ballet School Diaries under the pen name Alexandra Moss. She lives with her family in Bath, England.

this was a really inspiring final read of the year. i hope that in 2022 ill be as annoying as lily in this book. stay tuned.

Rachel and Kirsty return on holiday to Rainspell Island. They are shocked by how much litter there is on the beach and enlist the help of the fairies to help clean up the environment and learn more about environmentally friendly practices. The Green Fairies are: Nicole the Beach Fairy, Isabella the Air Fairy, Edie the Garden Fairy, Coral the Reef Fairy, Lily the Rainforest Fairy, Milly the River Fairy and Carrie the Snow Cap Fairy.
The fairies must be in a dream,
If they think they can be called 'green'.
My goblin servants are definitely greenest,
And I, of course, am by far the meanest.
Seven fairies out to save the Earth?
This idea fills with full of mirth.
I'm sure the world, has had enough
Of fairy magic and all that stuff.
So I'm going to steal the fairies' wands,
And send them into human lands.
The fairies will think all is lost,
Defeated again, by me, Jack Frost!
Miss 4 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

Daisy Meadows and her fairies are my childhood. I collected so many in my youth, knowing all the fairies and their importance, and sticking with the two special girls who go to be a part of the magic.
Years ago I had to give my beautiful collection away, now still part of my childhood school where little girls are picking their favourite fairies and playing pretend. It's fun to hear stories from my old teachers telling me how over the years so many students have grabbed these books and fallen in love with the tales of two girls, Jack Frost and the fabulous glittering magic that is the fairies.
On Christmas last year, my sister surprised me with a boxset of these books, but cause you cannot collect these darlings as easily anymore. I was over the moon!
If anyone has a little one who needs a little magic in their life, wants to read and needs a big creation to be hooked on...it is Daisy Meadows!

I have read a previous book in this series. I feel any of them work as stand alone stories so can be read in any order.
The environmental message is strong and helpful. The story is not the longest but still felt to drag a little.
One message this series could give that is problematic is that going to strange places with no guarantee of getting back is something you can do. With a stranger and with danger present. The first few pages of this one could have been the start of a horror novel without changing a word.

Jack Frost and his goblins were trying to steal the wand. But guess what! Lily, Kirsty, and Rachel helped save the wand by putting bananas in their bulldozers and tying them up with vines. Then they stole the wand and gave it back to Lily.

My little sister's thoughts:
It's a good because it encourages taking care of the wild rain forest and not wrecking it. We rated only three stars, because of the bad literature.

Lily the Rain Forest
There is Girls named Rachel and Kirsty that are going to make a mushroom soup. They need the ingredients to make the mushroom soup. It started to rain Rachel and Kirsty went under a tree to take cover.Then Lily the Rain Forest Fairy came out. Lily,Rachel, and Kirsty went to the rain forest. When they were in the forest they heard a big noise and they went to go check what it was the goblins.They thought it was a bird but it was not a bird. But the big noise were the goblins destroying the trees.

There are seven earth fairy that help to save the world.But the goblin took away all their wands. Today, Rachel and Kristy found Lily the rain forest fairy under a mushroom .Lily took them to the place where the goblin stay .The goblin swing and swing by many tree and the girls can't catch them.finally ,the girls asked butterflies to help.The butterflies flied very fast and grabbed Lily's magic wand and gave it back to Lily. The rain forest was save again.

This one has been my favourite so far - I love that the book gives kids practical tips on how to actively protest against the destruction of the rain forest (or anything else for that matter) by sticking bananas up the exhaust pipes of bulldozers to cause them to break down. Pro-active fairies for the 21st Century. What's not to love?

another cute fairy book :) Missy loved that the fairy was named Lily and that the writing was simple enough that she was able to pick out words that she knows.
