Note: This was originally written on 2/13/2011 This is certainly one of the best spy novels I've ever read. Although written in 1985 when circumstances, particularly as regards the relationship between the U.S. and Russia, were quite different, the reader can easily draw many parallels to current times.

This book was interesting and intriguing until the end. I was SO disappointed that so many things were left incomplete. If there was a sequel, maybe a cliffhanger would be warranted, but there isn't and all I'm feeling is total frustration. I'm not sure two stars are deserved.

Read in 1986. Could a US Senator be working as a mole for the Soviet Union? Tense thriller. One of my favorites that year.
