The Prideful Soul's Guide to Humility

Rate this book
There are few books on the topic of humility, and of those few, most are classics whose authors died many years ago. This book is contemporary and tackles an issue that is at the heart of true Christianity. A book on this topic is refreshing and challenging, and deserves a twenty-first century treatment.

An amazing book that I've highlighted, underlined, read, and reread several times. I revisit this at different points to be reminded of lessons I thought I learned and to be encouraged by the little ways I've grown since the last time I read it.

This book is a necessity for every soul, but it's only worth it if you're willing to do some real spiritual work to change and grow as a result of what you learn.

This has been one of the most painful and profitable books I have ever read. The book (or the Holy Spirit working through it, more properly) made clear that I was really in need of such a study, and have been for some time. The authors excel at showing how humility is needed in every area of your life, and give you thought questions in each chapter to assist you in the difficult job of actually applying what was said. This is a book from which everyone could profit.

I've wanted to read this book for a while, and to be honest; it was a straight-up mediocre read. Don't get me wrong; the content isn't destructive, especially if you are a Christian. (Honestly, I wouldn't find the book helpful at all if I wasn't one.)

Read this book if you want to understand pride further but keep a note of a few things.

1. the authors wrote this book a few decades ago, so the style and language may feel outdated. Since this book wasn't widely distributed, this makes sense.
2. After the first section, I feel the book explains the same points repeatedly. I did enjoy some of the chapters, but there is only so much you can say in a book teaching how to alleviate pride.

You will be humbled. It has a lot of scriptures and is very convicting for the prideful person. This has good perspectives on humility in leadership and following leadership. I recommend this book to those who struggle with pride, but they have to be open to hearing the message. That is the greatest fear in giving this book to someone else, that they will become hard (prideful) to the teaching. The most important thing about this book is for someone not to just read it, but to read it, think about it, meditate on it, read the scriptures and re-read the scriptures, and put it into action. It is not meant to be a quick read, but rather something that should be put into action.

Excellent. Very inspiring. It helped me change at the time I read the book. I probably would need to read it every so often to keep myself in check. A must read if you sincerely want to become more humble.

This was an absolutely incredible and humbling book to read. Although I anticipated reading it for years, I couldn't have possibly been prepared for how much it would cut to my heart. I'm glad I own it, because I will need to go back to this one for the rest of my life.

This book was loaned to me from a friend. I am so thankful to friends who can help you grow! As the writer shares God's active process of humbling us is not to make our lives miserable but to truly make our lives awesome.
