You know authors are tricky creatures. I have so many books I've been wanting to read, my TBR outrageous. I had no plans to read this series or even knew about this series. I was cleaning out my email, (I get lots of author newsletters) and I happened to open an email that had the first chapter of this book in it. I read it and it caught me. It lured me right in and I had to read the book to find out what happened.

So yeah, this one was pretty good. Even though there was barely any steam, I loved the badass h, Kara, and I really loved the sexy lab created super soldier H, Davien, with the heart of gold and a soft spot for children. Ovaries exploding all over the place here. I really liked this even though there was very little steam, and that's saying something for a dirty old mind like mine lol. Sometimes the story's so good you don't even think about it.

So here I am thinking, "that was a nice little diversion from my planned reads, but it's time to get back to business" but the tricky author caught me again. At the end of the book there was the first chapter of the next book....I read it....now I gotta go read book two to find out what the hell happened!! I'm on to you Elin Wyn! Elin - 2 / Niki - 0 (except I am getting to read entertaining books, so there's that lol).

Gritty and gripping sci fi romance!

The story starts with a rather bewildering bunch of things happening all at once. It was hard at first to get my bearings and dig thru the trails to find out what was going on in Kara's life. Obviously a strange world where humans are treated as slaves or worse. As we start Kara is looking to steal some valuable mining dust to make her tithe to the "worlds" crime boss. She's short due to her ex having stolen her savings when he left. Unfortunately the job gets botched with help from one of the youngsters she is friends with. Kara is eventually brought to the leaders compound to be punished or thrown out of the world's protective some into what is called the "waste". Davien is an enforcer for the boss. He agrees to get back the dust Kara was stealing and keep 1\2 of it and Kara for the job. See lots and lots of interesting action going on in a very short time span bookwise! The story just keeps growing as we discover more about the world and others and of course Kara and Davien. Also we can't forget all those other important characters we are introduced to, and those we only are told about by Davien. It all made for a fast paced intriguing tale that incorporates action, violence, steamy romance, cute kids, theivery, coups, biologics, data and coding, more sexy times, yummy food, tenderness, a gleaming special knife instead of a ring, need I go on? Obviously I can't wait to see what the next book brings. A Sience Fiction Adventure Romance is the perfect descriptive phrase for the book. The 4 stars were because it was a little confusing at times, but totally worth it!

First read by this new to me author. I can happily state that this book was a fantastic action packed SciFi adventure that was both interesting and original.
I like the whole thief planet concept and the ‘living in the dome’ I thought it was an interesting play on a theme I’ve only seen in movies previously... which made the authors world building that much more skilful because I already had a mental picture in my head... which the author blew out of the water with a few very well constructed chapters. Everyone has to pay a price to the boss... you don’t pay you get hunted down and forced to pay or thrown out in to the ‘waste’ outside the dome. Which added a futuristic and dystopian vibe that I totally dug! Throw in some orphans, a Fagin-esq mob boss and hell yes there’s me as Oliver asking ‘please sir can I have some more’ 🤣

The two main characters were pretty great too, their connection was a constant push and pull that was both funny and filled with chemistry. Although I could have done with more information regarding our Hero Davin but i get that this is the first in series and is setting a plot and dangling a juicy carrot to find out more.

This is a series I will be continuing to read more of.

This was fine entertainment. I didn't hate the characters, which isn't a given for sci-fi romance. As much as I sometimes love an alien romance. It's not uncommon for the aliens to lean so far into alpha a-hole territory that I can't bear the gender dynamics that result. So, the fact that Wyn didn't do this and therefore I didn't hate the romantic leads is actually a point worth mention and praise. The writing is clean and easy to read and I don't remember any big editing mishaps. So, fine entertainment.

It's not deep though. There's not enough world-building or character development. The romance isn't particularly developed and it's not explicitly fated mates to excuse its lack of development. And while the book ends reasonably, I didn't feel it quite reached a happily-ever-after or even a happy-for-now. It felt just a little too soon for that, like the book needed a few more chapters of wrap-up before that was a safe assumption.

All in all, however, for fluffy entertainment, it did it's job. I'm not a fan of the cover though.

He is the Hunter🐺🔪🔫, She is his Prey💋🐱🔥

The thief city of Ghelfi is a dirty, filthy, trashy slum enclosed inside a dome on a dirty, filthy, trash heap of a mining planet. Kara💋🐱🔥 was born there and expects to die there, she was one of hundreds of street kids left to fend for themselves.

Kara💋🐱🔥 has a skill, honed over years of doing without, she's a stealthy and good thief. Her current mission for her boss, Xavis👹, has her breaking into a safe and stealing the vials of antonium dust secreted there.

Davien🐺🔪🔫 is a DNA enhanced Hunter warrior, recently working for Xavis👹, the man who has been running Ghelfi for the past 20 Imperial years. Davien🐺🔪🔫 could easily kill Xavis👹 and take his place, but he doesn't want it, he just wants back in space, in his own ship.

When Kara💋🐱🔥 doesn't show up to Xavis' palace with the vials, he sends Davien🐺🔪🔫 to find her and bring her in. Davien🐺🔪🔫 finds her easily by checking out her normal haunts, but she's been beaten and injured, and the vials, which she had well hidden, have been stolen by a helmeted, black clad android.

Kara💋🐱🔥 isn't afraid of Davien's huge imposing figure, his sharp teeth, or his claws, or his inner wolf🐺🔪🔫!. Something draws them together!

Xavis👹 wants to eject her from the dome for failing her mission. Like spacing, she will die in seconds without air. Davien🐺🔪🔫 talks him out of it, saying it would be a waste of talent, and Xavis👹 would have to start again with another trainee. Davien🐺🔪🔫 asks Xavis👹 to let him have Kara💋🐱🔥 for himself.

Xavis👹 gives them both three days to find the vials! Then they will be hunted down, and Both of them ejected!

Davien🐺🍆🌋🔪🔫 has the hots for Kara💋🐱🔥, but he doesn't know why. After trying to fight Davien🐺🍆🌋🔪🔫at first, Kara💋🐱🔥 is lusting after his big, hard, hunter🐺🍆🌋 body!
YEHAW! Ride em Bareback🍆, Cowgirl!🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎

This is a an interesting Alpha Alien book📑, because the woman, Kara💋🐱🔥, is a strong independent character making a life for herself on a horrible environmental disaster of a mining planet. She's tough, she doesn't give up. When Kara💋🐱🔥 and Davien🐺🍆🌋🔪🔫 start working together, everything starts happening for them both to get what the want: off the planet.🌎

The book📑 is written from dual points of view, which is a big plus for a romance novel. The reader wants and needs to get inside each character's head to find out what they are thinking. Recommend!

Now Davien and Kara have to work together to pay off the crimelord. Kara agrees to help for the promise that he will help her leave Glephi for good.
This is a great book with lots of action and twists and turns. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

Abrupt ending

This book was actually quite a pleasant surprise, I found it rummaging through the depths of KU’s Sci-fi Romance selection and wasn’t expecting much. The story was very interesting, the world building wasn’t that amazing but it was there, and the plot was entertaining, it wasn’t lacking in adventure.

Why 3 stars? Because it had an abrupt ending and left a lot of unanswered questions. Most of the story is about the h and H trying to get funds to buy a ship to leave the planet and the resulting complications of said quest, however, the book ends just when they get said funds.

I get that the author is building a series, at the end it’s explained that the next book contains more information about what the hell’s happening, the problem I have with this is the fact that even though there’ll be some answers in the next book, the h and H from this book are not the main characters, so it leaves their story sort of hanging there. I guess they’ll have at least some involvement in that story, but I feel like I’m not over with them yet.

The ending pretty much ruined it for me, it wasn’t bad but it was very anticlimactic and left me wanting more... in a bad way.

I enjoyed this book. It was on the shorter side, taking just a few hours to read which was good for me as I don’t have a lot of time to sit down and enjoy books. I was also able to finish it which can be hit or miss with KU books. Overall, I liked it and would definitely recommend it for a KU read.
Pros:
I liked the story even though it wasn’t anything I haven’t seen before. That can be good or bad. It’s your usual spacer genetically modified hero and wayward heroine.
Both characters were likable. The alpha-male thing wasn’t overdone to the point where it was disrespectful or controlling. She wasn’t annoying or obnoxiously naive.
There was a happily ever after(ish)
The pacing was good and there were only one or two grammar/word usage errors, except for a few places where the same word was used several times in one paragraph. (I’m being picky, I know)
Cons:
The sex scene, there was really only one, was quick and not very descriptive. A little column A, a little column B, done in two paragraphs. I would rate it for 16 year-olds and up, more than PG13 and less than R.
Some transitions were confusing and required a second read to follow.

Lacking and dragging

Lack of colorful description. A lot of unanswered questions. The action was lacking in quality. A lot of useless randomness and repeating. How many times did they need to eat over and over? How much “grumbling” needs to be mentioned of someone’s stomach. Had to skim over a bunch of bland internal thoughts. Sex scene that finally happened was barely a notch above a G rating. I doubt I’ll pursue the additional books in the series. Left a lot to be desired. :(

Out of this world

Set at another time on another planet, Elin Wyn has successfully created a story about an alien world as convincing as our own. Kara and Davien are thrown together through circumstances and discover a bond as strong as it was unexpected. A thrilling adventure, with love tossed into the mix. Very enjoyable.

Building their own pack
This book is a fantastic SciFi adventure! The pages are filled with strong female characters and the perfect guys to compliment them. The author kept the story moving with lots of danger and action while keeping the characters real and easy to connect with. These two had to fight an uphill battle, but they made it to their HEA with more room for adventure in the future. I am really looking forward to the next book to see what happened to the rest of the pack and how these two far in their brand new world. You won't want to miss this fantastic beach read.

On the fence.
I thought it was an interesting read.
But thought the romance didn't have enough build-up.
They just jumped right into it.
I thought it was interesting and unique.
However, I don't think I'll read anymore in the series.
Didn't catch my attention enough to want to read more.

Good start to series leaves you wanting more..

This book was little different. It focused quite a bit on the strength of the heroine. Of course we can see the strengths of the hero as well.
Davin is a wolf hybrid that was made in an experimental lab on a spaceship. Someone attacked the spaceship but he doesn't know who. The scientist got a coded message then told David and all his "brothers" to leave in the escape pods and she would contact them later. All the hybrids went in separate directions so they couldn't be traced. Six weeks later, Davin still hasn't heard anything. He is working for a monster type guy who runs the planet he crashed into. He is an enforcer. He is trying to earn enough money to get a spaceship or at least passage off of the planet.
Everyone has to pay the monster a tithe in order to get food and protection. Kara is late with her tithe do she is to be thrown out into the "Waste" land, where humans can't breathe the air and live. Davin steps in and makes a deal to help her. They spend their time chasing down her tithe that was stolen while fighting with the mobsters competition.
There is a lot of action in this book. A lot that isn't explained here, but would be a good read. I only have four stars because it didn't feel quite finished. I realize that this is part of a series about the brothers, but I had questions that won't be solved in other stories. What was on the chip she found? What did Rati find when she broke the code on his tablet. Hopefully at the end everything will come together to give me these answers and more

"A good science fiction adventure. Lots of action and a believable world where a criminal enterprise rules the society (place like that exist on earth today). The heroine doesn't have super powers, insane skills in something or a genius. She a tough, street-smart, all-around talented thief that tries to pretend she doesn't have real connections to people but in the end has what amounts to close friends and a family. The hero does have some superpowers and insane fighting skills with close-connections to his lost pack but willing to make new connections. Their attraction is quick and develops into something deeper without it being corny or too unrealistic.
While it is understandable that some questions have not be answered and a lot of things are unclear because the hero himself is in the dark about many things and expectedly, hopefully, will be revealed as the series goes on. However, there are somethings that could be clarified or revealed that are directly associated with the adventure on this planet that do not effect the bigger story arc and most likely won't be revisited because of the self-contained nature of each book. But that is a minor point not enough interfere with the enjoyment of the book. "

I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.

I have to say I liked this book far more than I thought I would. It's a dual POV between the MCs, so we get a good mix of information and perspective. Although I liked Kara well enough (she fits with the setting), but I loved Davien. Although it took me a few chapters to really start to get into the story (and figure out what was going on), but once we got Kara and Davien together I really didn't want to put the story down. Kara and Davien have a really great chemistry. Although the timeline is really short in this story, it didn't feel like they got together too fast (so much is packed into this story).

I wish there was a bit more information on Davien's background (there certainly is some in the book, but it took me a bit to really follow it), but as this is the first book and the series will continue with other of his brothers I think it works. I'm really hoping that we will get to see Kara and Davien again (I'd love to see how the brothers would react to Kara).

The world has gone to hell in a handbasket in the future. Kara has it hard and it doesn’t look to get any better as long as she stays in the dome. For being a bad a$$ thief, everyone loves her. She is given to Devian as punishment for not paying her tithe to the criminal running the city. Devian is a created being, part of an experiment on the Daedulas spaceship. After escaping an attack on the ship, all he wants is to get off the planet and find “Doc” and his brothers. They have three days to come up with her tithe. There are so many things happening and not much of it is good. She never thought that she had any family, so I was so pleased when she realized that wasn’t so. They may not be blood, but they are a chosen family. I love that her mind wanders towards Devian all too often and Devian can’t stop thinking about her. They survive too many beatings and close calls, never giving up hope. Even with everything they go through they make time to examine their feeling for each other and steal a bit of quality time together. Really good book and promising new series.

Terrific Series

This is the first of the Breed series I have read but I want to read the other books in the series too. Davien who was created in a space lab that was attached and he and his " brothers " were sent off in pods to hopefully save them. He crashed on a mining planet where he takes a job as a enforcer for the ruling boss. Then he meets Kara a young female thief who makes him want things he never has before. As they try to help the kids, get their selves out of trouble, and find a way to get the money to get off the planet to hopefully find his brothers. This is an exciting and very enjoyable story making you want to read about the brothers and their own women. Will they all ever get back together? Will they discover what happen to the ship Daedalus that they had been on?

This book had me hooked from the first chapter. I especially liked how it was other worldly. I feel that it was a very well written sci-fi romance. The story just really sucked me in with it's suspenseful moments. I was really fond of Kara, being that she was a strong, independent female character. Davien was an aggravating but full of sexy character. Their chemistry was very explosive and at some points pretty funny. Neither character ever wanted to admit when they needed help but found themselves having each other's backs. I enjoyed the HEA of the story quite a bit and look forward to reading more from this author in the future. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book for my honest opinion.

Davien's heart is stolen by a master thief

Kara is a master thief, a product of her environment, and her childhood, there is a temptation to wonder if she ever had a chance to be anything else. But as she deals with Davien, and we get to know her through his eyes, not only do we discover the more complex and multifaceted character that she is, we catch glimpses of who she might have been had she been born in another place, had her parents lived different lives, had her childhood been different.

Clearly the first story in a series, this done in one quick read stood well on its own, had a lot of interesting world building, and created a sense of curiosity about other characters and events without making this story feel incomplete, but rather part of a larger universe.

Given to the Wolf by Emma Gale

Kara lived under the dome in Ghelfi, the thieves city. She has to steal for Xavis. Xavis hired Davien and has been working for six weeks as a enforcer. It took me a few chapter before I got into this story, which turned out to be a wonderful love story with a lot of twist and turns in it. It is a sci fi story from another place in space and once you figure out all the people in this story it is a good book. If you're into sci fi you will love this book. Engaging - Unique - Suspenseful -
An excellent start to a series
Elin Wyn built an incredible world with strong characters and believable possibilities (it is sci-fi fantasy) and scenarios
We start on the edge of our seats and stay that way through out the story -
Kayra - our heroine - is smart, dedicated and one snarky sexy handful
Davien - a little bit of good in every bad boy - is looking only to survive and find his way back to his pack - but you know how life is - things don't always go as planned
An action packed read that will satisfy the hungriest of sci fi lovers
I received advanced readers copy for review consideration.

Davien is working for a crime lord to earn as much credits as he can so that he can get out into space to find his brothers.
Kara's planned heist doesn't go as well as planned. She is given to Davien as punishment & has three days to sort out her mistake. The two set out to find her stolen loot but stumble in the middle of a rebellion & someone is on the hunt for Devien.
I really enjoyed this book. It is very different from anything I've ever read. The story & characters were well written. Looking FWD to reading more from Elin Wyn & The Wolves of the Daedalus Series!!

Kara lives (sort of) in a domed city. To go outside the dome means death. No one can survive in the Waste. This place is ruled by ruthless gangs who demand more and more from its members. One of the new controllers of the ruling gang is Davien. He’s not quite human. He is fascinated with Kara and when she doesn’t come up with the amount demanded by Xavis, she’s to be thrown out of the city into the Waste. Davien has taken quite a shine to Cara and promises Xavis the he and Kara will come up with the amount within three days. It should have been simple, instead that’s when Davien realizes that he has bitten off way more than he can chew and everything falls apart!
