I bought this manga in Vilnius Book Fair 2015 and it stood on my shelf for a long time... until I decided to read it. Straight guy in a gay school. I expected something kinky... but alas, this book contained TOTALLY NO sexual content and I feel disappointed. The entire story is nothing that could get stuck in mind and nothing to special. Gay school, everybody dates each other and everybody gossips about all couples.

In conclusion: I spent few hours doing nothing and reading gay romance manga. (On the first day of 2018 xD)

Kinsei Private School (apparently a popular setting for Hyouta Fujiyama; there are a bunch of related manga coming out from June) is an all male school that's 90% gay or bi. This is a fantasy setup a la David Levithan novels rather than a political one a la Harvey Milk High School. Nanase, who is straight but cute and small, has to fend off crushes from many of his classmates, until his underclassman Heiji proposes a solution: They'll pretend to be going out. It will help Heiji, too, as there's a girl pursuing him he can't shake off. Heiji seizes the pretext to put his hands all over Nanase everywhere, and the revelation of his intent isn't far in coming.

What's fun about this, actually, is that Fujiyama gets the business of deception and misunderstanding out of the way pretty quickly, and proceeds to examine the shifts and changes in Heiji and Nanase's relationship. There's one cute up-ending of cliche in which an outsider's attempt to sow dissension among the two of them fails because they trust each other too much to assume the explanation for a compromising position is obvious.

The "Ordinary Crush" storyline takes up about two-thirds of the book; the rest is made up of rushed and confusing one-off filler stories, most loosely related to "Ordinary Crush" except for a story about a brusque scientist and the robot assistant who is, of course, more human than he is.

From the back cover: Welcome to Kinsei Private School - a respected, all-boys institution where it's rumored ninety percent of the student body is gay (or bi.) For the straight Nanase, this means constantly avoiding day-to-day advances from his love-struck classmates. Just what is a "normal" boy to do in this sea of "abnormality"?
Enter Heiji, who proposes a unique solution to his sempai - namely, that he and Nanase pretend to be a couple in order to deflect all the unwanted attention. Sounds like a good plan, except pretty soon Nanase finds himself performing all manner of embarrassing acts in order to keep up the "ruse." What wrong with this picture?! Could Heiji's extraordinary offer simply be his way of hiding a very ordinary crush?

Nyouta Fujiyama (Lover's Flat) introduces a tale of conflicted emotion, awkward affection, and awakening desire that's sure to melt in your hands like chocolates on Valentine's Day. Also includes bonus stories.

Blah, blah, blah... nothing special. Didn't suck as much as some stories, it was coherent, but it was bland. I didn't bother seeking out the second volume.

I bought this Manga in Sweden because it was relatively cheap for being new and just finished reading it.

It was good, not fantastic but good. Made me smile at its humour and good that there are characters in a relationship that actually trust each other! Very good portrayal of a relationship, where feelings take precedence over thought sexual orientation, where there is security and where they do not jump in bed together the first time but at the same time, think about having sex in the first few weeks and are nervous but decide to take things as they come.

There were one-shot but related stories as well as unrelated ones.

Do be careful, in one short section there is hints of non-consensual sex.

Will hopefully pick the next one up in the future.

Initially, I gave this only two stars. But really, I have to upgrade it to three - the first part isn't exactly exceptional, especially if you compare it with her later work, but the second volume is already a lot better. I also liked Nanase's frankness, especially when it comes to sex (actually, come to think about it, this is one of the rarer manga where both guys are equally interested in having sex - usually, the uke tends to be all, "Argh, you sex fiend" even when the sex is consensual). So bonus points for that. And it just was fun and I love Hyouta Fuyjiyama's character's hair.
