3 1/2 stars

I like Ms. Burton straightforward writing style - not that I've read many books by her - and the premise of this book sounded very interesting, so I willingly chose it to get over my smut reading funk.

It started out well... Aidan, the hero, was one naughty, yummy bad boy who could raise up my temperature anytime, anywhere, and Melissa, the heroine, was a cool, controlled and seemingly no-nonsense woman who was most likely to melt under Aidan's pursuit. The sexual chemistry between them was off the charts and their intense foreplay was scorching hot... at first. When Melissa started going back and forth on the way she felt about Aidan, that foreplay became irritating and all I wanted to do was bitch slap her and tell her to stop being such a c*ck tease. She came to her senses eventually, but before I could sigh in relief, it was Aidan's turn to feel unsure about what he wanted. Man, what a turnoff! Then, to add insult to injury, a Big Misunderstand was thrown in the mix when Melissa, after overhearing bits and pieces of a conversation between Aidan and his mother, jumped to the wrong conclusion - obviously! - and refused to hear what he had to say. Oh please, just kill me, will you?

Now, you must be wondering why I gave this book 3 1/2 stars, considering how much the plot annoyed me... Well, I'm ashamed to say that it was for the sex, LOL. I really liked Aidan and Melissa's bone-melting foreplay, it was only when they weren't setting each other on fire that I was irritated. Since this is an erotica/romantica book, I think it's fair to give it a bonus point for the sex scenes.

And just because I can't help it, here's "my" Aidan:

Photobucket

If you read the book, you'll understand why he's so deliciously wet...

So, my recommendation is: read it for the smut and forget the plot. ;)

Good reads. The four Storm siblings run an upscale hotel in New Orleans. The family has magic - which the four siblings either embrace or reject in varying degrees. According to their mother they each have a Destiny [with a capital D:] to find THE ONE and lived happily ever after.

Summer Heat is Aiden's, [brother #2:], book. His powers are summer powers: storms and lightening, sultry heat and warm summer rain. Although he enjoys his powers it's more play for him than anything else. And he figures his mother is wrong about the Destiny thing... Until in walks Destiny in high heels and wearing a business suit. Her name is Melissa Cross, the liaison person from the casino the hotel is planning to partner with. She is cool and crisp and full of Boston reserve. If Aiden was smart he'd keep their relationship equally cool and business-like. But of course he can't resist Ms. Right, although he tries to treat her like Ms. Right Now...

Melissa is more than a little taken with Aiden and his warm but odd family. And strange things keep happening - like Aiden answering comments she only thought and storms appearing out of blue skies and warm rain falling in her bedroom... Can it really be magic?

I liked the characters and the concept very much. The plot is basically relationship driven. As far as order goes, I've read Summer Heat and Ice and Rain. The only obvious problem of reading the books out of order is there appears to be a large secret in Fall Fury which is common knowledge in the last book. Also each of the siblings is getting matched up in chronological order [Ice includes Aiden and Melissa's wedding.:] So there are some spoilers for readers if they read out of order.

Series: Storm For All Seasons
Summer Heat (2004)
Fall Fury (2004) -- this also book 2 of the Devlin Dynasty series
Ice and Rain (2005) -- this contains Winter Ice and Spring Rain, books 3 & 4

3.5 This started out good. I enjoyed the banter between Aidan and Melissa. But it became annoying when they would they both would go back and forth with what they felt. I was like alright already! Geez. Honestly Aidan was hot and sexy as hell but he love playing mind games with Melissa. She in turn tried to play and would get angry when she didn't get the reaction or results she wanted.I could have done without some of it.

What I did love was Aidan's family. They were great. I loved the way the interacted and poked at each other. I even enjoyed the paranormal aspect of the book as well.

Oh my word. You ever meet a couple and you like them. They're decent people. Fun to be around. But all you can think is thank the fucking starts you two paired off and took each other out of the dating/gene pool?! Yes. That would be Aiden and Melissa. Bless their wackadoodle hearts. lol

The Gist: A hotel and casino are forming a partnership and there's a lot of lead up work which brings Aiden--who owns the hotel with his siblings-- and Melissa-- who works for the casino up close and personal in more ways than one. If they can just get on the same page.

Oh lawdy. Aiden and Melissa. They're both hard workers and good at what they do. Though he's a bit of a wild child who's not always proper and likes to have a good time and Melissa's a bit uptight and by the book.

Now the romance. Oh my gosh. Yall. These two were a freaking handful. They just could NOT get on the same page. They both want to strip each other naked and do filthy things but when he was all woohoo! she was all...wait, we shouldn't do this! Then by the time he finally gave up she was like well why the hell doesn't he want to fuck me silly?!! And by then he was pissed as all hell. Until she finally felt crushed and like maybe she'd misread things and he really wasn't into her and by then he was like I should just get over myself since she's wanting to have a go.

And oh my god. Over and over these two would bicker and fight and fuck and rinse and repeat. smh I wanted to shake them both until they fell out on the same side. lol I didn't feel a strong falling in love with them since they spent more time at odds than with each other but they fit well with each other with their crazy ass selves. lol

There's a little woo-woo happening, too. Aiden can wield the weather and when he's broody, well, the skies are, too. He can also cause orgasms from another room. From another floor of the hotel even! Kinda fun, though, I did think he skated the line of acceptable behavior now and again with that consent-wise.

Overall, though, it was a fun read. A little rough and not too deep but fun. Even if it took me nearly a week to read it. More me than the book on that last bit, though.

Oh My. Fanning myself. Summer Heat does not BEGIN to describe this book. Hot Hot Hot.

Aiden runs a hotel in New Orleans with his family, the Storms. Melissa is in town to consult on adding a casino to the hotel. When they meet it is sparks and lightning. Of course Melissa does not want to be just another notch on his notch covered bed post and Aiden does not want to get involved beyond a one night stand...but they are drawn together. This is the first the series and the other brothers and sisters are all interesting characters. I loved the mom. This book is super steamy. Did you hear me????? Super. Steamy. Yeah,,,that steamy. There was one scene I would like to "brush" out of my mind. You'll know when you read it. ICK Factor 11. Overall good read...characters are developed and the *you know what* is New Orleans in July steeeeeamy.

Aidan Storm, an unapologetic womanizer, has met his match. His family's hotel is working on a casino deal and he's partnered up with Melissa Cross, from Boston. She's attractive as hell, but she's icy and seems sexually repressed...until she isn't. Melissa causes Aidan's elemental magic to stir up and he's so out of control sexually that he's losing control of his magic when he's with her. She agrees to no-strings sex with Aidan, despite her reservations about getting involved, but she's afraid he's going to break her heart. Aidan can't get enough of Melissa, but he's denying the feelings he has for her.

Okay, so definitely a very sexy story. Lot's of sex in this little erotica and it's steamy (and not just from Aidan's powers). The chemistry and sex between these two makes this an enjoyable read. But when it comes to the relationship aspect, these two drove me up the wall. It's constant push/pull and little/big misunderstandings between them. The push/pull comes from the fact that they both keep sending each other mixed messages about what they want and not communicating clearly, so while that provided some semi-enjoyable angst, it got on my nerves as well, making this an average read for me.

Awkward consent issues here when he used his magic to arouse her/get her off… when they weren't in a relationship, when she had no idea he could do it... so I'm sure she was embarrassed and ashamed of what transpired on the public casino floor.

Aiden and Lissa

This is the first in the Storm family series. The family has a couple of hotels in New Orleans and want to add a casino. Lissa is there to help with that and the fireworks begin.

I wanted more character development and more explanation on the magic. The magic isn’t supposed to be center stage, but man I wish it was. Elemental magic is one of my favorite magic systems and I wanted more. I would read more from the author.

Low stakes, steamy and ~magical~ but not fantasy or Halloweentown vibes. Listened to the audiobook on Libby and Alexandra Shawnee is one of my fav narrators (her male voices are hotter than any actual male narrator idk what’s up w that).

A romance with a paranormal twist. I like the paranormal aspect, breaks up the normal romance bit. The book is well written. I will be looking for book 2.

I listened to the audiobook read by Alexandra Shawnee. DNF - quit early in chapter 1. Bad first impression of Aiden Storm and didn’t like Alexandra Shawnee’s voice at all.

We all have come to know and love some of the stories by Jaci Burton. In the end, this book was a pretty steamy read... but it also had some flaws as well. It seems like the author has a formula to her stories, whether it be the heroine think she's not good enough for the hero and she doesn't want her heart at risk (The Perfect Play), or something like this where the H/Hr are both in denial of their love for one another and they don't want to risk their hearts either. Either way, I still enjoyed this book because the chemistry between Aidan and Melissa was smokin' hot! The plot was also rather unique because Aidan Storm and his family are able to control storms. Pretty interesting, huh. I'm definitely looking forward to the third book Winter Ice, where Aidan's brother Logan, is the type of person who does not believe in love and has complete control over his emotions. Heh, we will see about that when he finally meets his match!

I admit. The cover is horrendous and I totally think that they should publish a better one. But then again, you can never judge a book by its cover and to be honest, if you love this author's work, then I'm quite sure you'll enjoy this one as well. Like I said, the romance was steamy but it ended up going back and forth because Melissa kept on rejecting Aidan and then accepting him again. I mean, give me a break already! This was why I wanted to hit these two in the head because their relationship was so unstable. She was afraid of losing her heart because she knows that she's falling in love with him. Aidan on the other hand has always had complete control over his emotions until he meets his match, Melissa. And, he is also afraid of falling in love because apparently, he never did before...

Anyway, Adain's family was really enjoyable and I'm looking forward to reading his brother and sister's stories!

This book introduce us to the Storm family. Every single member of this family looks like that came out straight from GQ magazine or (whatever female magazine - can’t think of one now..)… they all are easygoing characters that you fall for at first sight.

Aindan Storm is a womanizer; loves women and knows what they want - and has a huge ego towards himself. And single (I have no idea why wanted to place this detail here). There’s something otherworldly about him (and his family), and I’m telling you this: his emotions are linked to the elements of the weather (storm, heat, etc), which makes the whole world a lot better, and interesting!! Oh, yes, he’s one of the owners of a place (hotel) that is about to receive a frosty woman to dictate their Marketing new assessments.

Melissa Cross, is this woman. She’s got her eyes glued to Aindan from the very first moment; but as any other professional, she keeps her composure. But she is going to get warm pretty fast with this stud.

I know you are dying thinking that there must be something more to this review than this, and there is, just click here for the whole thing. It is interesting & it has my FULL views about this book!!

Fun, hot read from Jaci Burton. Melissa grew up in Boston but after a failed relationship that affected her work, she’s closed herself to passion and relationships. Aidan grew up in New Orleans amid the magic and the heat of the city. When Melissa travels to New Orleans to work with Aidan and his family in a joint business venture, she’s not quite sure what to think. The heat and the humidity affect her almost immediately, she starts to thaw out of her cool exterior. But Melissa has already mixed business and pleasure and it ended badly. Can she open herself up again to the passion that Aidan promises? Really great steamy introduction to the Storm of All Seasons series. I’m a big fan of Ms. Burton’s erotic works and this is a good example of how she can steam up the pages.

A storm of sorts blooming, its more than the New Orleans sultry heat that is making it happen...
The magical chemistry & passion between Aidan & Melissa is explosive & hot.
But will Melissa let her frosty Bostonian exterior down to feel what actually is happening?
And will Aidan actually stop his womanizing ways, and open his eye to tantalizing magic that happen when these two get together?

Hot interesting read.. This seems like this will be an interesting series, and just like many of other books by Ms. Burton has written was a great book to read.

(I personally disliked the hairbrush scene...those who have read the book know what I saying. )

The Storm family of New Orleans Louisiana has magic. Angelina and Galen Storm have four children who have the power of each of the seasons within them. This series follows the four Storm children as they search for their “destiny” and fall hopelessly in love. I really enjoyed these books, while Burton isn’t that great at writing, paranormal in my opinion, she does a great job with this one. The majority of the writing is based in modern New Orleans reality; the magic is sort of just an after thought that adds to the mystic of falling madly in love.

If it weren't for the geographical inconsistencies and people speaking French at random times, this would be a pretty good book set in New Orleans. Except it doesn't really have anything to do with New Orleans except for the "Voodoo" which isn't really voodoo. Still it was light hearted and fun... and a tad dialogue heavy. Also, no one actually cooks oysters and hollandaise sauce for breakfast just for fun... too much work. That would be for a holiday only.

I just finished reading this yesterday and I couldn't put it down. It was so easy to fall in love with the Storm family! I can't wait to read the next one!

Aidan and Melissa were an addicting couple. They were both in total denial at first but you can't fight true love people! They were so cute together. I loved a lot of their playful banter - too cute! Great read!

I loved the family and idea of powers through voodoo (power over weather). I loved the whole big family getting together and loving supporting and celebrating together. I really struggled to like Aidan. I didn't like the way he treated Melissa. One minute he's all over her, giving her ideas then breaking her heart. Really annoyed me but not enough to stop reading the series.
