Mountain Moonlight

Rate this book
Book 3 in the Devlin Dynasty series. Conner Devlin has traveled to Romania to review a request for funding of a wildlife preserve. There, he meets Katya, an enigmatic beauty whose lupine sexuality captures him in more ways than one. Katya only wanted to set up a preserve for the wolves, not mate with the brash American, Conner Devlin. But a cataclysmic event forces the two of them together. Under a compelling full moon, their primal needs lead to explosive passion high in the Carpathian Mountains.

Conner Devlin and his brother Noah get shipped off to Romania to help set up a wolf sanctuary for the Braslieu pack. His contact is Katya, with whom he has instant sparks. But he doesn't know that Katya is actually the princess of the pack and that pack law states if he takes her virginity he becomes mated to her. He finds out after he's taken her virginity and he's furious, thinking that Katya trapped him. So he gets his revenge by taking over the pack and becoming the alpha she must have been scheming for. Katya though did not do it on purpose and is heartbroken that such a nice guy could believe it of her and that he's now taken over everything she's worked her whole life for. With the help of Noah and their sister Chantal, Conner gradually begins to understand what an ass he's being and that he'll have to make it up to the woman he's falling in love with.

Good points: It has some fairly good, spicy sex scenes and there's a very entertaining amount of angsty tension between the couple as they battle for control of the pack. The author does a pretty good job of cluing us into Katya's emotions and really making the reader feel them, and as a result, this isn't in the slightest bit a bland story.

Negatives tho: Conner starts out such a great guy really and he morphs into this mega-chauvinist asshole and he never really apologizes for believing the worst of her. On top of that, she's a total doormat because every time he comes back asking for help, offering another apology, she let's him have sex with her only to get shafted the next day. I can't believe she forgave him a 3rd time. Also, that whole threesome thing just felt majorly contrived.

Sexy, passionate, and wildly entertaining!

‘Mountain Moonlight,’ was a very entertaining read! It was intense, sexy, and very moving. Katya was a wonderfully written character, as were the Delvin’s. And while there were instances where you truly felt like knocking some sense into Connor... there were also moments he made you melt.

I really like the first one. This one kinda of fell short. The characters were pretty unlikable and the first half of the book did not feel like a love story as it was just hate and sex and pride. The second half really redeemed it. Finally got the love vibes and the characters got some sense knocked into them.

I'm a fan of Jaci Burton but this early book just didn't do it for me. The characters were more like caricatures and the sex scenes were cliched. I just didn't care about what happened to anyone, and I ended up skimming a lot of the book.

I enjoy a number of Jacinta Burton’s books, (and I like the shifter genre) but this series, esp. book 3 are just too smutty for me.

Great.

Now we have Conner’s story with Katya and this book is longer than book 1 but has you just as hooked. Lots of action too.

This was a good read - it was better than the second book which was better than the first, so maybe I'll love the fourth book o_O I did like their love story. Even though both MCs weren't ready to be mated, they seemed to accept it willingly enough as part of their nature as lupine. What they struggled with and was the source of the conflict in the book was learning how to accept each other as they were and to be partners, to accept they also were in love besides being mated. But all of this sorted itself out nicely. My only issue was near the end with a gratuitous menage scene. I've nothing against MFM and I knew I was reading an erotica but the scene sort of came out of nowhere and didn't really add much to the overall story. The author did an admiral job of incorporating it, but it still felt as if she was told to add something non-vanilla to the story and so came up with it. As I was reading and it became obvious where we were headed, I just felt no... this isn't right. It didn't fit in with the personalities of the MCs so just felt wrong to me. I will give the author props, though, because once committed to doing the scene, she made it work and during and after the scene, I felt okay, that the MCs had not been compromised. It was just the build up to the scene and knowing that the story could have been complete without it bothered me

If I were to write one sentence describing this book it would be the following: “Infuriating characters who you will learn to love from the very beginning, but this won’t keep you from loving the story from the first line.”

Romania is the place where this story will take place. Katya, the sole heir of the Carpathian throne is in danger with her heart, and the population of wolves being hunted in her area. Conner is the man for this job: protecting these wolves and people he will come to love.
(I know, very lame for an introduction, but I want you guys to read it, okay?)

Many things will happen, many fights will come their way (with each other mostly), sacrifices will have to happen for them to live peacefully, family members will be present as well, rituals; and many scenes to spark genuine love for these characters, hate, laugher, among others (I don’t know what these “among others” would be, but you know what I mean!!)

I know this is very little to be a review but if you want to check the whole thing don't hesitate to click here. You will enjoy my whole thinking once your curiosity gets picked. Don't forget the link will take you to a snapshot as well!!

Third in the Devlin Dynasty erotic paranormal romance series revolving around a dynasty of werewolves.

My Take
An erotic shapeshifting romance that is feeble, choppy, and I couldn't wait to get it over with. It was nothing like its predecessor, Primal Heat: "Running Mate", 1.

I really can't get my heart into this one…take a psychology class…no, wait! Take a writing class!

The Story
Two brothers from the Devlin clan arrive in the Carpathian mountains to help a wolf clan protect itself from the government and hunters.

These books are great, but the men seem to be complete idiots when they fall in love and don't seem to be ready or wanting to accept it. then they do pr say something that really hurts their mate. This book I really felt sorry for katya after almost been raped then Connor had mated them and not been completely happy about it. I really like it when other member of their family get involved and tell them their been total dicks.

This was just ok for me. There were times when the characters talked more and I thought there was some potential, but then it slipped back into just sex again and there was no connection. Don't get me wrong, I like sex in books, I like a lot of sex in books, but I want some emotions to back it up. I just didn't feel that in this book. I will read the next in the series and hope for me since I usually really enjoy the author's work.
