When battle ravages her world, Charity is left without family or friend. Invading warriors from the sky decimate the planet and deem her people unworthy to live. After a desperate flight for her life, she is caught by the cruelest of their enemies, Commander Melmanon.
Melmanon is a hero renowned for his terrible bloodlust and legendary tortures, and, bored with the war, he's restless for new challenges. When Charity eludes capture for six days, his pride takes a beating and he plots his revenge carefully. But in her complete submissiveness he finds a perfect prize, and he abandons his plans for murder to make her his 'torture slave.'
Unwillingly seduced by the brutal domination of her master, Charity quickly becomes enthralled. Even the harsh lash of punishment cannot dim her sexual craving, and she is torn between the urge to flee…and the desire to stay.
As this hardened warrior uses his defenseless captive for his pleasure and her own, he finds that giving can be as satisfying as receiving. Torn between the monster he has been and the man that wants the love of his slave, Melmanon must decide if it is better to be loved…or feared.
Publisher's This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find Bondage, domination/submission, dubious consent, flogging, interspecies sex.
Stephanie lives in Southern California where the days are sunny and the nights are…well, not. She works (when she must), she writes (when there’s nothing on TV), and she collects her government check every weekend (party!). She has a very nice family (who tells her she’s adopted), a very nice boyfriend (that we’re scared of), and a cute cat (that she clearly doesn’t deserve). Her greatest aspiration is to someday be immortalized on YouTube. Preferably engaging in “lewd and lascivious acts” (per the police report). Sadly, the last time that happened the only people who got it on video were the crew from “COPS.” You can email Stephanie if you’re like Dr. Dolittle and you can talk to the animals.
What a kinky dirty read!! I have a lot of kinks and this book had quite a few. Aliens, Abduction, Forced Seduction/Non-con. BDSM, a whipping incident,
There was an Alien Warrior that had never known love. Yet he fell hard for his human captive. I was in the mood for some forced seduction, and this book was full of it. Charity struggles with her attraction and feelings for her captor. Her captor struggles with his feelings and desire for his sex slave.
This was a short read that was packed with heat. I liked the writing style but it was more of a 3 star read. I can only recommend this book to lovers of sci-fi, forced seduction, love slave style books. This book is short enough that it makes for a quick dirty read!!
Okie doke...not sure what I was expecting, but I got more than I bargained for. And all I can say is:
Non-con or possibly dub-con, so fair warning. On the other hand, if you are titillated by that sort of thing, this was a nice hot little alien sex book. I'm actually saying not little at all...no, no. These aliens are...ahem...well endowed. ;) Wink, wink. So well endowed that it just might not fit very well.
The author throws in a little emotion eventually, but let's be real. I didn't read this for the love. I read this for the first sex scene, which was hot as hell, even if it sounded wildly uncomfortable. It still made me a little bit (just a tiny bit) ready for the alien invasion.
A thought-reading Demon and his human cative; Melmanon is an alien invader who has conquered the earth. Charity once had a normal life in a normal world when it was ruthlessly snatched from her. Since then she has been running and evading the alien's killings, unknowingly she comes to Melmanon's radar for she kept managing to evade him for a long time and that hit his pride. After her capture Melmanon decides to keep her as his torture slave.
Melmanon likes Charity's submissiveness. Both are surprisingly attracted to each other considering the consequences and with intentions Charity was captured. This novella is nice but I think it was lacking potential. The smut, force seduction and jealousy was properly executed. It was a quick dirty read.
My stars are for the smut and sex. This book was HOT! If you can handle non-con sex then stop here and read. It is a smokin' book. But that is about all you will get from it.
Spoilers below......
But there are elements I just cannot applaud or get into.
First there is straight up rape and abuse. No matter that she gets turned on, she does not want it and is forced. Many times. It was hot, but it was uncomfortable. The Hero is terrible to her on more than one occasion. Almost choking her, whipping her, threatening to kill her, sodomizing her.
Second, later in the book, the hero does a 180 and becomes a different person. It was too strange and made no sense.
Third, they did not communicate at all. It was not until the very end that they talked about feelings. At one point weeks went by and he thinks to himself that they had no said more than 10 words to each other (but we're still fucking like bunnies).
And last, the heroine is soooo submissive. Just taking whatever he gives her. Asking how high when he says jump. I just cannot get into a heroine like that. Even her thoughts were mostly submissive. Just not my thing.
The heroes history skeeved me out. Mostly that he had been raped and that he raped others both men and women. It was a part of war you know? Hmmmm. At least his thoughts were mostly general. No details.
I loved this book the male lead was just so evil but he really loved the heroine. I normally don't like bdsm themed books but this time I didn't mind as it seemed to fit the story. If u like evil anti hero's who are posessive and alpha you will love this book as much as I did!
Overall I liked this title. (It was my very first Kindle purchase on Christmas!) It addressed my captive kink and my alien fetish all at once. I really, really liked the lack of snark of the heroine's part. This wasn't a title meant to display how tough and clever the heroine is or to satisfy the common tough-chick persona we seem to find in nearly every paranormal romance lately. Charity reacted much like I think the majority of us would---do what we needed to do to survive. The rough sex fit the story (although it may not be for everyone---especially if you don't like your sex a little violent) and the lack of a PC-perfect ending was satisfying.
I would've liked to have seen more psychological development between the two. It seemed a bit rushed for my tastes. We achieved a HEA without going through the mental hell you would expect from two completely different personalities. Although to be fair, I am someone who loves the mind-fucks a lot more than what is considered normal so it could definitely just be me.
I think this title is perfect for adventurous readers who crave a darker courtship and don't mind subjugation and dubious consent but also want a HEA.
Demon's Captive is a fast-paced, futuristic story with a strong d/s theme. It was an enjoyable read, and I wish it had been longer! I loved the tension between Charity and Melmanon. Melmanon (the demon) is one of the alien invaders who have conquered Earth, causing Charity to lose all her friends and family. Outraged that she has evaded him for several days, Melmanon decides to keep her as a torture slave after he finally captures her. Charity's will to live is strong, so she does her best to please her new master, but she is tormented by the knowledge that she is betraying her people by finding pleasure with her demon. Melmanon loves her submissiveness because it is unlike anything he's experienced before. Charity is surprised by how gentle he treats her initially, because aside from some very rough sex, he hasn't really hurt her - yet. When she catches a glimpse of humans working in a farm field, her master reads her thoughts and becomes outraged that she would think about the possibility of having a human husband and child one day. He punishes her severely, but he later comes to regret his actions and nurses her back to health. Melmanon slowly realizes his love for Charity and decides to retire and make her his wife. Charity has no say in anything that happens to her in this story, so if BDSM without consent and safe words bothers you, you might want to avoid this story. I've seen a few reviews comparing Demon's Captive to a bodice ripper, and I think that's a pretty accurate description. And don't worry, no bodice ripper (even one that involves aliens and takes place in the future) would be complete without an HEA.
*On a side note, the kinky dork in me kept comparing the alien invaders to Klingons because of their warlike race, bloodlust, and tradition of battling someone to have sex with them. If you're a trekkie, then you know what I mean. And if you're a trekkie who enjoys a good D/s story, then you might have found heaven.

It is pretty obvious that this is the first time writer, but a writer who shows promise. Unfortunately the writing is too choppy and sometimes there is not enough build up, the heroine just jumps right into things. Sex scenes are not memorable and there is no sexual tension.
I didn't like him whipping her but I guess that was part of the dom-sub theme. I would have been more tolerant had he just spanked her. I did like the premise of an anti-hero falling crazy in love with the heroine. Loved his possessiveness!

Charity and Melmanon's story was great I personally enjoyed it. When you start reading the story it gets to the point. Even though Melmanon's is suppose to be this ruthless man he still had a heart of gold mostly towards the end. Charity even if she seem weak she was still a lovable character. If you love story's about captives with erotica then this is for you. The sex is good as well as the storyline even though there isn't much to the storyline other than the two characters.
Now I must say if you are breezing through books to buy and you happen to come across this book then let me say this if your not into the captive, slave whip and hardcore Thing then this isn't you. If you love this sort of thing then give it a try you might like it and if you get to the section of how he treats her while she is a slave and you feel like you don't want to read anymore keep reading it gets better for both characters.
Sometimes you just get in the mood for a book with some good, dirty sex in it. This one fit the bill for me. Although I did feel that the ending tied up almost too nicely (Melmanon's revelation that he loved Charity, her acceptance of her place in the new world the aliens have forged), I enjoyed the overall story. I do wish that her submission/his dominance had been explored a little more after he released her from her bondage, but I blame that on the length of the story more than the storytelling itself.
If you're looking for hot, dominant, sometimes non-consensual but mostly consensual (Hmm, bad phrasing there, but you get the point) sex, this book will fit the bill. Oh, yeah, and there's a spaceship. *fangirl geek out*
Overall a good read. We have a race of alien beings that take over the world. One alien, or "Demon", takes an interest in a human and takes her as his war slave. She becomes his to do with as he wishes. The only problem, he is from a highly aggressive race. He is not sure if he wants to have sex with her... or kill her...or both.
He becomes very confused when he starts to actually care about what she feels.
This was by no means an award worthy book, but overall not bad. The author does a god job with dialogue and the plot line is good. Nothing stellar but good. Overall a nice steamy read if you are into the forced/abduction/sex-slave thing. ;-)
Sexy scary badass who is really just a big, mushy softy. Well, maybe not a complete softy. But he definitely doesn't treat her like a "torture slave." This book was just what I was looking for. Dirty sci-fi sex. Enjoy! :D
I really disliked this book. The fist 2/3 has the "hero" abusing the heroine, and then in the last 1/3 they are magically in love. The writing was awkward, the subject was terrible, and there wasn't anything remotely romantic about any of it. The sex scenes weren't even enjoyable because the majority of the time the heroine is being forced. I wanted to like this because I love sci fi with romance, but this was not that!
I was utterly in the mood for an alpha who forces himself on the heroine and I admit I got it!
This was a short and lovable read. It was a book that lets the reader predict what will happen before it does. However don't let this deter you, you are in for a wild read ;)
It’s a good thing this is a short novel and not something over-drawn attempt at being made into a tortuously long epic. Because I would not have been able to go through this much longer. This is not a romance. At best, it’s character study and not a very deep one as the characters are pretty plain ones. At worst, this is a guide into how to break down a human being. Yeah, definitely not a romance. With all the torture and senseless violence committed to the heroine and the rest of us unsuspecting humans I don’t see how she could have survived it (emotionally) without some heavy dose of Stockholm syndrome. And Stockholm syndrome is never to be confused with love. Those who do, boy have they had some messed up relationships not to be able to tell what a healthy relationship between two consenting people is supposed to look like. Yes, even in the BDSM world, if someone doesn’t believe me just delve deeper behind the meaning behind the phrase “safe word” and you’ll see what a relatively normal BDSM relationship is supposed to look like. This is a perverse distortion of that and is more in fact an attempt of one individual to break down the other person completely. Physically, emotionally, physically all for the purpose of creating a puppet that will think, feel and act the way they want and answer all the needs they want. The characters aren’t too deep as they never display a very broad array of other kind of characteristics. The girl I see as the embodiment of the flight reflex being slowly converted to a slave and nothing more, and her inability to muster even a bit of resistance feels like a dig against every romance heroine ever written (which is in a sense what most of them do act like). The guy is just the product of his violent upbringing and there is not sense of him acting outside the confines of that brainwashed upbringing, and even when there is a hint of it, it’s always for the purpose of satisfying his carnal or emotional needs (such as the complete devotion of his slave). All in all a completely ridiculous story with equally ridiculous ending.
I picked up this book because the premise was intriguing. I did not realize it was a novella, which on the whole I tend to dislike as I find the stories move too quickly (making them even more implausible than their full length fiction counterparts: and the characters are under-developed making me less invested in them.) That said the book read quickly, I finished it in a couple of hours; and at no point was I so bored that I thought about putting it down and not finishing it. Actually I was curious to see what happened because I never expected a book about alien domination to turn into a 70's style bodice ripper with a happy ending. Imagine my surprise. The second half of the book left me shaking my head allot and muttering, "Seriously"? to myself quite a bit; but like watching a train wreck I couldn't quite turn away. So...if you're curious and have a few hours to kill in which you don't want to think overly much; it's short, it's relatively cheap so why not go for it. Unless of course you have an aversion to rape and a wee bit of sexual torture, then perhaps you had best give it a pass.
This was my first " kidnapped by aliens" themed book, it was also an erotic ebook and if I was reading just for the non concent bdsm, then I would have rateded it an extra * but the romance was lacking.
Charity (h) ,running for her life from the invading aliens has run out of places to hide. With discovery approaching she's also run out of options. It's either die or learn to adapt to these killers.
Melmanon (H) knows he's on her trail, that she's affectivly trapped. He cant wait to have her,he wont kill her right away, no, he'll keep her as his torture slave.
With all the fun times ahead that "torture slave" alludes to, we also get to watch these two fight falling for each other.
The story revolves around a dystopian future where Earth has fallen to invaders. In the last of the clean up battles, Commander Melmanon finally captures Charity after several months of evading him. The alluded to torture is not of pain, and the story surrounds Charity submission not just physical, but mentally to this demon conqueror.
The violence expected is realized only briefly, so readers who were thrown off by that should give it a try. The story is actually quite sweet with a definite HEA.
I'm going to give this 4 stars because I love how much of a psycho, asshole the H was. I liked that he had been hunting her but she kept escaping him, wounding his ego. What I didn't like was how he just woke up one day and was like "shit I love this chick"...it happened suddenly and it shifted the whole story in a direction I didn't like. I finished it, but wasn't thrilled with it. I felt the author could have really expanded on their tumultuous relationship.
This was an average, short read, and the hero changed from dominant to aloof without explanation. HERO is a Warrior, top of military ladder in his planet. While leading the invasion to Earth, he captures a woman to keep her as slave, but he starts softening more and more towards her. SCENES/CONTENT: few/erotic GENRE/TONE: futuristic/drama LENGHT: 104 pages
*Alien abduction *Domination. *Possession. *Whipping *Extreme Submission *Forced sex & servitud *Eventual love
Sigh... I'm guilty... I admit it hit the right buttons.
Fierce warriors from space have come to conquer Earth. Aliens who look like huge red demons easily wipe out any resistance and take what they wish. In the midst of this horror, Charity is all alone and trying to avoid being captured.
She's been lucky till now and has eluded the demons so far...
Commander Melmanon is a vicious bloodthirsty warrior.
He's feared and he's exceptional in torturing his captives and killing of course. He's furious that the human woman has escaped his clutches and invading Earth has hurt his pride. Too easy to be considered a victory. His eyes are set on capturing his enemy and quenching his thirst. To take revenge for facing such unworthy foes. He does not know love or compassion.
And when he finally captures her his world shifts into unknown territory...
Charity is scared of the demon called Melmanon. She knows she will be tortured and played with to death. She has no wish or strength to defy him. She submits to his every whim...
In this steamy torture, Melmanon is surprised to find her submission brings him great pleasure. Both of them find themselves conflicted in this master-slave relationship. Making Charity question her loyalties and feelings. Melmanon has to face difficult decisions as well...
Guilty pleasure read. Satisfying enough, with one dimensional characters. Hot steamy bdsm sex! Great relationship build up and enternaining. Not mind blowing writing, but good. Short and tasty. Enjoy! I totally recommend the read for erotic/romance readers. Hea goodies. Disturbing of course for the sensitive crowd. Please check genres before reading. On my account, no complains what so ever. Got exactly what I was looking for.
3 Submissive Stars!
I bid you farewell, may your next reads be fabulous!
Hmm...what to say about this book. There were parts of it that I really liked. The details for one where great. It was very easy to picture the war torn earth, the ships, and of course, erm, the scenes (I believe we all know which ones I'm referring to). Both of the main characters were, for the most part, likable. Even though Charity could be considered "weak", it's still hard to dislike her for it. In many instances, I'm sure most people would react the exact same way. Survival instinct kicks in when it's needed, and she wanted to stay alive. I don't see anything wrong with that. Melmanon starts off as kind of a brute, then you like him, and then he has this one moment where I sort of hated him, then back to liking him. That moment I'm talking about is one where he clearly takes things a little too far and ends up hurting Charity on purpose. I'm not really into that kind of thing, so it didn't really do it for me, however if you're into rape fantasies and/or dark erotica, then I doubt you'll have a problem with it. I think the issue that I had with this one is that at times it moved way too quickly for my liking. It felt rushed in the emotions department, so hard for me to buy into. I was glad that he ended up falling for her and turned it into more then just her being his torture slave, but I also would have liked to see more communication between them to help spur this along. Though, I guess when the mind reading abilities it wasn't overly necessary like it would be in a typical relationship. There were many things that could have afforded to be fleshed out with this one, but if you're just in it for the sex scenes then this is for you! ;)
low 2s -- what could have been a fascinating story of inter-species psychological chess devolved into a big, vapid, squirm-inducing NO.
all over the board tonally -- starts as a horror, ends as a syrupy romance. the author squandered her sci fi goldmine and settled for an implausible, hasty romance that came off as both icky and half-baked. a missed opportunity.
OTHER BOOKS THAT THIS BOOK MADE ME THINK OF: (1) Stephenie Meyer's The Host. for all of the criticism lobbed her way, 'phenie meyer actually offers aggressively exciting plot constructs. (it's just that her execution is so often lackluster or downright painful).
(2) R. L. Smith's Olivia, which i've been painstakingly slogging through for the past year and WILL eventually finish. that book started out with Am-A-Z0r and, 400 pages in, is winding down to a sickly, cloying shadow of its former self. review forthcoming. eventually. *sob*
(3) R. L. Smith's Heat, an AMAZING horror story with crazily bizarre but crazily effective strains of romance woven in there SOMEHOW, i don't know how.
in all three of these stories -- some straight sci fi, others fitted with the Erotic Infusion 3000 -- a horrifying alien creature abducts an earthling who fights assimilation and ends up romancing E.T. Granted, there's always something yikes about the transgressive kidnapping subgenre, but it can be handled sooooooo well and be sooooooo worth mincing through the moral minefield.
i had tentatively high hopes for Demon Captive, but it proved a disappointment.
ALSO: sis's boob job is WAY double-widely spaced, y'all. (see cover art)
This book was recommended to me forever ago. I can't even remember by who but it actually came up on my kindle so I got it and I couldn't put it down. Not necessarily because it was a fantastic book but because I wanted to figure it out. I am not a huge BDSM fan. The thought of pain does absolutely nothing for me. So I go back and forth on this book. He rapes her repeatedly. In ways that make her bleed and she gets off on it.. I think that would be the worst thing to have your body betray you. Anyways, he starts to some how get feelings and I guess she does too? I'm still a little confused. I don't remember them actually ever talking. We heard all of their inner thoughts but I don't remember them ever having a conversation. Usually in darker romance books, the captor will talk to his captive and learn a little bit about them and vise versa and they slowly like each other. Or something like that but this one.. idk. He gets really jealous at one point and beats the shit out of her and then a few days later bonds with her.. So I just don't get it. And toward the end, all his inner thoughts were about how he wanted to dominate her (after the bonding he tried to be less aggressive during sex) and that was never resolved.
I feel like I wanted to like the book but I just didn't understand how the relationship progressed. I know insta love and all that crap but this wasn't like that. He fully intended to kill her after he raped her so it wasn't insta love. I mean I read the book in one sitting so it wasn't terrible, I just don't see how the relationship turned into love or anything more than master and slave.
Humans are totally screwed! A mixed alien race of brutal conquerors take us down within months. They’re kind of like the Brogue. They assimilate the new planet and its people into their culture.
Charity runs for her life and is chased down by Melmanon, a very massive, very red, demon. Because Charity gave him so much trouble while trying to capture her Melmanon takes her as his torture slave.
Once captured Charity submits 100% to her captor. Knowing she will never get away she strives to appease the demon in every way. Her only though is survival. Melmanon is used to his brutal culture, full of fighting and forcing people to submit, that he’s surprised by Charity’s easy compliance, and find it refreshing. For the first time in his life he’s compelled to pleasure rather than punish.
I feel Charity’s reaction to her situation is pretty realistic. As she ran for her life through her ruined home planet she witnessed the utter brutality and slaughter of her people. She believes if she’s caught she will die. When she becomes a slave instead, it comes as a relief. Even though she submits to the demon in order to save her life she is horrified by her body’s reaction to him and there is a great mental struggle within her.
This is not your typical romance. This is a dark dominant/submissive story with a little BDSM and torture.
The end it too fast and too easily summed up for me. The author could have drawn it out a little better. It sort of felt like Snow got a little tired of writing, and just rushed through it.
The writing is head and shoulders above many books in the erotica genre I’ve had the displeasure of reading. Stephanie Snow did a good job making the (numerous) sex scenes different and not repetitive--no small achievement for a writer of erotica.
My complaints are the same as many others here: the heroine (Charity) is too submissive and the relationship between Charity and her alien captor/lover (Melmanon) evolves too fast and would have been better served in a longer book.
Charity’s fear and reactions to her situation are realistic and if this had been a crime story with the sex not for titillation it would be spot on. But this is a fantasy and some verbal dueling between captive and captor would have been more interesting.
I liked Charity more toward the end of the story when she and Melmanon are married and have more dialogue together. The first part when she is a slave is mostly internal narrative from both Charity and Melmanon, though he does speak in reply to her thoughts at times after reading her mind.
I gave the book 3 stars, but this is not a bad or negative review per se. I am neutral about the book. I realize that no book regardless of genre will appeal to everyone and I don't blame the author for writing a story that didn't appeal to me as much as I wanted it to.
It isn’t a bad story, and as I said above, it is well written, and that is what I appreciated most about this book.
