I wasn't sure what to think when I read the description of this book. My husband bought it for me so I had to give it a try. I was involved from the start. It's a sneaky book. The characters aren't your typical hero, heroines, and bad guy(s). Sometimes it's hard to tell one from another. But they are engaging. I got caught up in their dilemmas and found myself caring about the outcome. The book is funny and sad, sometimes at the same time. The plot moves disjointedly but it fits the book. There are places it dragged a little but not enough to make me give up. I had to find out what happened. I hope people will give this a try. I want to find more by this author.

Average Joe finds a tire full of 99% pure heroin should be good enough. But this is way overplotted, too many law enforcers, and too many drug lords.

Credibility is strained in at least four ways; the most basic is that you can sell drugs and not get in trouble for it.

Ways to shorten: 1) Can do without three chapters of guys playing Hearts, 2) Why such long introductory descriptions of characters who are never seen again?

A stupid/naive guy makes it through by dumb luck. He finds 20 kilos of heroine in a spare tire of a rented car in Florida. He takes it back to NYC and tries to sell it to pay for his daughter's doctor bills. He falls for an undercover DEA agent who also falls for him.

Michael Goodman, widower, father, accountant, finds himself in possession of a large amount of pure heroin quite by accident. His dull, innocent world is never the same from that point forward. The characters are very well developed, to the point that I could visualize them. There are highs and lows, but I really cared about what happened to Michael and his daughter. I would recommend this book.

This is the first book I've ever read from this author. I became drawn in from the very first chapter. It was an easy read that really held my attention. Lots of twists and turns. Good being too! I highly recommend this author, and I can hardly wait to dig into his other books. So exciting when you discover a new great author!

one of my favorite books of all time - it's hilarious and captivating, you'll read it in one sitting. I've read this 3 times since I bought it over 15 years ago and I plan on reading it many more. it's like a favorite movie, one day you'll just find yourself in the mood to read it again

I really liked this book. Such an unusual chain of events. Bungled drug deals / finding nearly $50 million dollars of heroin in a spare tire. You need to read to see who ends up with the goods / who dies / who wins etc.

Everyone knows from the beginning what is going to happen in the major plot in this story. No surprises and it plays out exactly as you would expect. yes, there are minor subplots that are not so predictable and the writing is not bad, but for the most part unexceptional.
