Limitations

Rate this book
This is a book for Christians who love God, yet have come to a place where aspects of the institutional church, somehow, no longer seem to fit their lives.

Limitations explains institutional elements of the North American church, why they exist, and does so without throwing rocks or fault finding. It leaves the reader focused upon what it means to posses an attentive ear and a heart that is hearing.

I think my pastor put it best when he said "Besides the Bible, no book has shaped my ministry in the past year like this book." It was that recomendation that made me read this book. Insightful, well thought out, and easy to read for any lay person, Avram challenges the way we think about Church and even what we mean by 'Church'.

He examines issues of good ideas vs. God ideas, the nearly unavoidable perception of Church as a corporation, and how this affects our view of pastors and leadership. In the mean time, the author doesn't attack the church but encourages all people to recognize the way our culture influences our beliefs and thoughts about Christianity.

I would highly recommend this book to any believer wondering about the legitimacy of church.
