WHY CAN'T WE ALL GET ALONG

Carnigan, Carnigan you just have to love him and his ways. A straight shooting man, whose life has been nothing but trying to stay ALIVE. A smart man who hasn't had much schooling, but he whip shard smart. He's built himself a nice little cabin in the Colorado Mountains, small place which is built like a mini fort. His needs are basic, there isn't a wife, because she and his infant son were murdered by scalp hunters who raided the Las Curves Mountains, a hide away for Ulzana aka Geronimo, A great Indian strategist and Chief..a very smart man fighting a no win war against the White man...during his This trip he's at one of the trading post and a wagon arrives carrying a Major's daughter and her protective escort. Also the Armies payroll...plus we have some unsavory men who met up with Carnigan while he's fighting the Utes...perfecto mi amigo...you need to read this adventure lots of moving and grooving...si si si more bullies and THEN there's CARNIGAN...The cowboys cowboy...a strong man with ethics and morals..you know like THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN..it isn't all about money but it's your fellow human beings who can't ALWAYS protect themselves..He loves a good fight....keep your coffee hot mi amigo......

Carnigan had been in a few scrapes in his day. This was one of the worst. Utes had shot his horse and set him afoot without water. Two days later he's looking at a pool of water surrounded by Utes waiting.

But he learns it's not him for whom they are waiting. Four white men are coming and there's nothing left to do but open up.

Which puts him in worse shape.

The four are a slovenly looking bunch and they are scalphunters, taking the Utes for the bounty. And Carnigan hates scalphunters.

Things only get worse at a trading post when it's obvious they are waiting for something. Then the wagon escorted by a troop of obvious soldiers, though in civilian dress. A payroll and a gneral's beautiful daughter are aboard.

And suddenly he has to rescue the young woman, saddled with a green officer worried about his career letting both the payroll and a general's daughter be taken. Not mention Ulzana and a group of Apaches far north looking for those scalphunters.

Enjoyed this western. That makes two good ones by the author. Will be looing for more of his work.

I really enjoyed the story line of this book. It captured your interest because it had the ring of truth. The life of a scout depended on his gut and his memory. If the gut feelings were not working then your life wasn't worth a plug nickle. Carnigan had both working just fine. It certainly kept him and many others from dying. I have given my rating because I felt that the characters could have been developed more but even at that the story is good, giving you a good read. There are many twists and turns to keep you very interested and page turning to the end.

That was a good, quick read. The main character reminded me of the TV character of Cheyenne Bodie of the show Cheyenne
