What could trigger a chain of events that would take a couple of ordinary people on a dark, intricate journey that twists until the very suspenseful end?
A lustful, late night skinny dip. A mysterious woman's disappearance. A botched, messy robbery. An unsettling police interrogation. A cold blooded murder.
...or all of the above, perhaps?
Keeping Minds is a compelling story about the good in people and the bad in people. A consuming story about people changing and people being forced to change. An intriguing story about how the human mind can impact your perception, of the entire world.
A sexy sensual ride through the lives and minds of ordinary people being pushed into extraordinary circumstances. Keeping Minds is an intense look at how the person you are, may only be what is in your memories...and in your mind.
I am the author of stories for open-minded people that want something a little different out of a book. I try to unfold my stories carefully, in a surprising and extraordinary way, all while maintaining my unique writing style. My books could be best described as, true love stories at heart, told with the brains of a mystery, the guts of a thriller, introspect of a psychological drama, and the soul of a suspense saga, all carefully woven into one epic tale.
I focus on emotion in my writing and try to ensure that you, the reader, feel the story, not just read the words. My goal is to give my readers an amazingly emotional, unique reading experience every time.
I may offend some and I may enthrall others but I always remain true to the characters and the feeling of the story. I do not edit my writing to be popular or fit the mainstream. I do not limit myself by writing for a genre, I write stories about life and life spans every genre imaginable. As a result, my stories do not easily fit into limited genres as they tend to span many.
I live near the beach in sunny Dunedin, Florida and enjoy skateboarding and being outdoors. For those of you who don't know, my name is pronounced vinyl...like a record.

As a bestselling author myself, I’ve read my fair share of heart-racing stories, plot twist fever dreams, and characters so complex they feel stitched together from stardust and scars.
But Keeping Minds? This one didn’t just pull me in. It grabbed my brain, rewired my perception of memory, and left me sitting in stunned silence, whispering, “What. Did. I. Just. Read.”
From the first page, you’re lured in by what seems like a ripple, a sensual, late-night skinny dip. But then the current pulls you under: a mysterious disappearance, a robbery gone sideways, a chilling interrogation, and a murder that’s not just cold-blooded, it’s calculated. And that’s just the beginning.
Anna and Bern. One’s a brilliant neurologist haunted by the past. The other, a memory-less patient she’s studying. Both are trapped in a web spun long before they even knew they were players in the game. Their connection is slow-burn, high-stakes, emotionally charged, and crackling with the kind of tension that makes you forget what genre you’re even reading.
Is this a psychological thriller? A character-driven mystery? A love letter to the complexity of memory and identity?
Yes. It’s all of that, and more. It’s genre-defying. It’s mind-bending. It’s absolutely unforgettable.
I pondered a lot between giving this a 1 star or 2 star rating. Decided to give it 2 stars because I didn't hate the story, it was just very poorly written.
You can tell the author doesn't read fiction by the writing style. It wasn't cohesive, it would change between povs literally between paragraphs, sometimes it was written in first person and other times it was written in third, there was over description of basic tasks, writing "BANG", "LOUD NOISE", "COUGH", etc gave me the ick, you could tell it was written by a male by some scenes that just made me literally cringe. These issues turned me off and made it more difficult for me to get involved in the plot. However, I already have the full trilogy so I would read the other two and who knows maybe i'd get better.
*Thank you to Goodreads and the author for sending me a copy.*
I am adding these two 5 star reviews that were removed from Amazon. I do not know why they were removed and I do not know who submitted them so I can't ask for them to be resubmitted. Luckily after they disappeared I was able to grab the text from my author page. They were both 5 star reviews that any author would be proud of.

I have found this book to be capable of offering everything a modern reader needs nowadays: suspense, thrilling events, adventure and romance…lots of romance.
The plot of this book has been built in a quite interesting way. It is rather fast-paced but don’t be afraid of the fact that you will miss any important detail that contributes to creating an outstanding reading experience. Vinal has an awesome skill when it comes to creating dynamic plots which add even more entertainment to an already pleasant story line.
The characters have their own well-developed stories. Therefore, the end result of this book, its story, is quite deep and complex. In the same time it feels very attractive and intriguing.
I definitely consider that this is a 5 star novel which fulfills all the requirements needed for becoming a best-seller.

I am true a fan of the books that fit into the thriller genre but they are not limited just to it. Because of its excellent description and reviews I decided to buy Keeping Minds. I am not disappointed by my choice. Vinal Lang has managed to create an excellent thriller here. Besides its thrilling story this books is definitely displaying influences from some other successful genres, too: action, romance and a bit of adventure. Furthermore, the story is quite unique. I have read many thriller and suspense titles, but this one doesn't resemble to any of them. Carefully built by the author, it offers an original perspective over the changing phenomenon with which each we, the humans, are confronted. The characters are crafted in such way that they look very familiar to most of us. In the same time, due to the fact that they have quite an unusual past, these characters will be felt like some very complex human beings. Good job, Vinal!
I won a copy on Goodreads First Reads but all opinions are my own.
I really got sucked into this story about Anne, Bern and a close circle of people. This is a story about finding who you really are despite the circumstances, humanity, heaven, hell, love, death , minds and memories...especially how fragile memories are in how they effect each one of us. Our memories are part of who we are. They are reminders of loved ones, happiness, our past, where we come from and some are even horrifying that we try to escape or numb the feelings they bring. Once you read Keeping Minds, you have to read Failing Minds because you will have lots of questions that the curious will want answered!
I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. I liked this book. It's very unique and not like anything I have ever read before. I debated on giving it three or four stars simply because I still have a lot of questions which I hope/assume are answered when I read the sequel. The book is full of twists which I like in a story, and I found that once I picked the book up, it was hard to put down.
There were some issues for me in the rambling style used to tell the story and the over description of basic tasks (she put the key in the lock, the door opened, she walked in, etc.)These issues turned me off and make it more difficult for me to get involved in the plot.
