"I hear voices in my head and I love that its totally okay." - Alora Kate
Alora Kate is a multi-genre author who likes to be bold and original; stepping outside of the box and bringing her readers fresh characters from all parts of life. She’s a mother, college student, photographer, and graphic designer. She resides in northern MN with her son, where she plans to stay for a long time despite the cold winters.
“GIRL, write YOUR book dammit. Who cares what people think? If writers in the past cared what other people thought we'd still be glossing over 'inappropriate' kissing scenes. Break the fucking rules. Push yourself to the edge. Show the world what YOU can do. This is YOUR book. YOUR blood and guts. AND, don't you EVER, EVER, write one single line for SOMEONE ELSE.” ― Madeline Sheehan
This is the second book in the series and thus time we get Alexa and Tappers story.
After Alexa met him again at the end of book one and she can’t stop thinking about him and what might have been. For Tapper he’s struggling to adjust to the changes in his life and he’s bitter about how things ended between them.
I liked watching Alexa work through all her hang ups and finally let someone in. Tapper coming to terms with his limitations was easy for me to identify with for personal reasons. There is drama I think it follows those women.
I enjoyed this second book in the NYC Series, A Beautiful Acceptance; it is an emotional and hopeful story. It’s Tapper and Alexa’s story, which also continues the love story between Prescott and Ki. It is tangled and somewhat tense, as well as funny and sweet, with great characters that I love.
After Alexa Tanner gets some unexpected worrisome information it gets a little twisted. I feel like she just figured out what she wanted with Tapper and then so many surprises popped up threatening their new but, continued delicate relationship. Tapper Low is learning to love and accept love, again not just with Alexa but himself as well. I feel like he made great strides in finally accepting his new life long condition, although I’m not giving up hope. It’s a great story of forgiveness and acceptance.
Where’s Lucus? I can’t wait for A Beautiful Forgiveness. I’m excited to finally learn more about him; hopefully past, present, and new love interest. Lucas is one of my favorite characters, probably because he’s so mysterious. I’m interested to see how Alora Kate ties it all up in the end.
I have read a number of Alora Kate’s books and they all have one common thread, once I start them I can’t put them down until I’ve read to the last page! A Beautiful Acceptance, book two in her NYC series, is no different. We went from Ki and Prescot’s story in book 1 to Alexa and Tanner’s story in this book. A Beautiful Acceptance was a tough read for me and yet it was an utter joy. In some respects I cannot relate to someone like Alexa. Alexa is the kind of woman who can enter a room and all eyes are upon her. It was that aspect to her that she used in her work with her best friend, Ki. The truth was there was far more to Alexa than the beautiful package people saw. She was much more than a beautiful book cover; she was a woman with an incredible story. Without delving into the specifics, Alexa’s upbringing was far from ideal. In some respects her upbringing was a tragedy. Those scars, hardships and more lingered with her into her present life. Tanner Low, in some respects his life was a tragedy in his own right. At one time he was a highly successful fighter. He had success, popularity, money, and Alexa by his side. At least until she left him one day after months of bliss. Heartbroken and suffering from injuries that left him in a wheelchair, Tanner was an incredibly unhappy man. When Alexa and Tanner’s worlds collide a plethora of emotions are stirred in both of them. Alexa is forced to face her past, her demons, and what it meant to have Tanner in her life. Tanner has to face his current physical status, all Alexa meant to him, and still does, as well as another impending tragedy. The connection between Alexa and Tanner is intoxicating. True to Alora’s style, she mixes numerous twists and turns into this story. Alexa and Tanner are both forced to face countless surprises in addition to their own feelings. I loved every minute of it, whether I was laughing, crying, or yelling at the characters to get out of their own way. Alora created another impressive book and I cannot wait to get my hands on the third!!
A Beautiful Acceptance is where we get Alexa's story with Tapper Low. They run into each other in A Beautiful Heartbreak and it sets Alexa's mind racing about him constantly. She can't get him out of her mind and she has to talk to him. Tapper wants nothing to do with her. He's currently learning how to live his new life and let go of his old life, including Alexa, although it hasn't happened in the year they've been a part. You get all of the same characters from A Beautiful Heartbreak and get to know more of their stories even though this story is mainly about Alexa and Tapper. In true Alora Kate form, her words make you feel as if you know them personally and their lives are somehow a part of yours. Alexa may seem carefree and bubbly, but she keeps most things bottled up beneath the surface. She loves Ki, but hasn't let anyone else in ever. With Tapper coming back into her life and her mom trying to rekindle their relationship, Alexa is forced to acknowledge her feelings and actually handle them. If that's not enough for Alexa, throw in a new family member she never knew she had, her feelings for Tapper starting right where she didn't even know she left them, a tragedy, and that tragedy threatening Alexa and the new family member. A Beautiful Acceptance will make you laugh, two words: vagina punch, you will cry, you will be worried, you will feel the love between Tapper and Alexa and of course the sisterly bond between Alexa and Ki. This story is just as amazing as the first and I highly recommend it. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Oh, why does Alora Kate does this to a reader for. she plays on this readers heart all the time but this time she played on it very hard. This book A Beautiful Accpetance is book 2 in her new series. This book is the perfect and it flows easy and Alora for sure has turly improved alot in her writing. She keeps us on our seats as we are waiting for what is next to happened. I have picked two characters in this book and then I will pick just 1 after.... First Character I picked is Josh and why Josh you ask yourself, Josh i sthe type of guy the tries his best in everything that he does . In his job it would be scary to deliever notices like he does because he never knows if he is going to get shot or get that wrong person that might end up shoting him. But going fifteen miles out of his way he should get paid for going out of his way to deliever a notice. know Tapper, omg what can I saw about Tapper, He stepped in and started to take care of his grandmother. He is one that worries about others and not about himself. Honestly I want a guy that is just like Tapper that worries about others and not about himself.
Alexa seems more down to earth in this second novel of the series. We meet the whole gang in book one, that was about Ki and Prescot. This book was about Alexa and Tapper. I had an easier time connecting with Ki however Alexa comes out of her shell. Their relationship is still unique.. I wasn't sure how I would connect to Alexa diving in but she manages to surprise the reader. Her whole life she has been trying to be something she is not, just to get her mom's attention. Her childhood was an absolute nightmare. She practically raised herself to cook and clean and everything. Being the daughter of a drug addict isn't a walk in the part. Tapper was attacked and lost the use of his lower body. He is angry at the world and Alexa because she dumped him and didn't look back. Chance encounters draw them back together and Alexa realized she was wrong for how she behaved. Her emotions are haywire at the best and worst times. This makes it easier to see just how human she is.
I really liked book one of the series a little better than this second novel. It is just as strong and addicting with the storyline but it manages to lose the reader in the pages more.
Really enjoyed A beautiful acceptance after reading A beautiful heartbreak I couldn't wait to get my hands on Alexa and Tappers story to see what happened for Tapper to show such anger towards the heroine and I understood the way he felt . Alexa doesn't let any one in after the things she's been through the only person she ever let break through her wall is Ki and once faced with tragedy she's starts to reevaluate her life . My heart broke for Tapper and the things he is going through such a great guy the only thing I wish for it that we could have got a little finality with his struggles he's faced with . Their very protective of one another and once they get past what they are holding on to I cheered for them . I can't wait to read the book in the series .

I loved how this book continues on from A Beautiful Heartbreak. In this second book in the series we follow Alexa and Tapper's story all the while we still get more of Prescot and Ki's story. Alexa left Tapper a year ago and during that time his entire life changed but he never forgot her. Alexa's life is about to get very complicated and the person she is going to need is the one person she pushed and ran away from. OMG Alora Kate is such a talented author!!! She blew my mind in this installment of her NYC Series. I love, love, love Alexa and Tapper. Not to mention Prescot and Ki. I cannot wait to get my hands on A Beautiful Forgiveness the next book in the series. Amazing story that will leave you wanting more and more. I can't get enough of these characters and if you read this you will feel the same. A HIGHLY MUST READ BOOK AND SERIES!!!! WOW Alora Kate!!!
~~~~~~~~~~Lindsey's ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review~~~~~~~~~~
Alora Kate stuns readers with this second novel in her NYC series. I loved it.
As I read through this book, I was impressed with the way the emotions were described. I felt as though I was experiencing the confusion and hurt right along with Alexa and Tapper. Their struggles were perhaps not relatable to me specifically but were described with such intensity that my empathy felt real as I watched it all unfold. Just as in book one, coupled with the love story is a bit of action and suspense that allows the reader to have a wide variety of things to cling to as the story moves forward.
Sometimes life knocks before it throws a curve ball your way & sometimes it wheels by in a wheelchair. That is exactly what happens to Alexa. Can there really be a second chance at the greatest love of your life? Or, will the challenges of life end everything as it is just beginning? Challenges that could easily beat any one person are thrown at them & force each of them to open up & face their own demons...demons which neither want to admit exist. Sometimes, the best thing we can do for ourselves, is to take a chance at love & trust.
Book 2 in the NYC series, A Beautiful Acceptance, struck a deep chord with me for very personal reasons. Alora Kate nailed it with this book! The emotions that Tapper feels are spot on. A story like this could go either way, and I was overjoyed watching Alexa grow with every page.
Alora Kate just keeps getting better and better! I can’t wait for Book 3!
What an amazing book!! The chemistry between Alexa and Tapper is something else!! The story is so intense and keeps you wanting more! I can’t wait for the last one and at the same wish this series won’t be over at this one!!
I received and voluntary reviewed an ARC of this book. This book was read and reviewed by Stacy Aube for Cutting Muse Blog Review.
Another work of art. Topper and Lexi have an interesting and remarkable connection. The devastation in this book will play tricks with your feelings. I can't wait for the next book in this series.
This is book two in the series. This one is Lexi’s book, and I've got to say she's my favourite! I loved Ki but Lexi I love more! She’s independent and she's made something of her life despite having a rubbish start to it. Tapper, an old flame is back in her life but after she screwed up with him originally he's doesn't want anything to do with her.
I really enjoyed this book and it had the bonus of still having Ki and Prescott from the first book!
A Beautiful Acceptance had quite a few twists and turns that I never saw coming. Alora Kate has done a fantastic job with this series and I can't wait to read the next book. I haven't any idea what will happen next but I have a feeling this next one will be even more epic!
A Beautiful Acceptance is book two in the NYC series and after finishing A Beautiful Heartbreak I could not wait to get my hands on Alexa's and Tapper's story!
This was another fantastic instalment that had me engrossed from start to finish. The story flowed with effortless ease. I really enjoyed the fact that even though it is wrote with such emotive words the Author has still managed to write humorous undertones mixed with witty banter while still keeping the character's true to themselves. They're hope, love and anxieties are laid bare making them easily connectable to the reader.
I struggled to put this down as I did the first book in the series so definitely another 5 star rating! I can't wait to get my hands on the next book!
Would highly recommend!
** Arc provided by the Author in exchange for an honest review for Words Turn Me On Book Blog**
we catch back up with Tapper and Alexa who featured in book one of the series.
Alexa works with Ki who we met in book one and is the other half of the private investigation team.
Alexa doesn't love? She has no time for it. She feels that if she loves them and leaves them then she can't get hurt. Which is exactly why happened with Tapper. When Tapper dared show feelings for her she upped and left.
little did either of them realise that a chance encounter bring them back together again. It isn't easy at the begining and alot has happened and changed in their lives. Can they work past their differences or is Alexa still unable to fully let go?
Her past comes out of the woodwork and once again left feeling vulnerable
We meet up with Ki and Prestcott again along with Lucas.
Alora has a way woth words and I love reading most things she writes. I can't wait for book 3 and Lucas' story
A Beautiful Acceptance is book two in the NYC series. This is witty, fun Alexa's story and I loved it. The story was easy to follow and well written. It had some twists and turns that keep you guessing till the end. The characters Alexa and Tapper, were likeable and so good together. I'm so glad they got their second chance together. Loved seeing past characters too. Really excited to see what book three holds for me, as I'm realy enjoying this series.
Alexa Tanner owns a PI firm with her best friend Ki Nicolson and they also serve court papers as well. When Alexa ends up serving the grandmother of her ex-boyfriend, Tapper Low she is brought back to a past that she ran from.
Tapper Low has never gotten over Alexa. He is a former MMA fighter but when he was attacked he wound up in a wheelchair and no longer able to use his legs. He has a lot of pain from everything that has happened but is still in love with Alexa after all these years.
When Alexa's mom dies she is introduced to a half-sister, Emma, she never knew existed and her claims that their mother was murdered. Can Alexa deal with trying to sort out her feelings for Tapper while also trying to deal with the death of her mom who was never there for her while she was growing up?
When they discover what Alexa's mom was involved with they know they need help but will Tapper be ok with watching and not helping?
This is another beautifully written book by the author that again tackles some difficult subject matters but shows the beauty of true love.
Alexa did not have an easy go growing up with a mother that was more into drugs than her. She grew up having to fend for herself and that made her extremely wary of love and relationships. Yet she was able to have an amazing friendship with Ki and that showed her that she could be loved and deserved it.
Tapper was a MMA fighter and lost the use of everything when he was attacked and had to learn to live his life in a completely different way. When everything went down with Alexa he must have felt so helpless not being able to be there for her they way he wanted to be.
The two of them had chemistry and a past but they both had to learn how to be open with the other about what they were going through. They each had to overcome their own demons and look at their relationship in a totally different light than they had previously done.
I was super mad at Alexa's mom for how she was treated growing up. She got herself into a heap of trouble and it was sad that Alexa and Emma had to pay for it. I also hated that Alexa knew nothing about Emma and that Emma knew so much more about their mom than she did. I can't imagine the hurt.
The very ending was super awesome with what Alexa did for Tapper and I loved how it all turned out. I am really looking forward to Lucas's book as he truly deserves his own happy ever after! - By Rebecca
I’ve been a huge fan of Alora’s for some time now, and with every book she puts out she gets better and better! I love the fact that she just doesn’t stay with a genre that is in her comfort zone. Instead, she reaches out to twist things a little bit. For example her books, The Price We Pay, A Flaw So Beautiful and Crash.Burn.Sting. Which are all fantastic books and I encourage you to check them out!
I was super excited to see that she was returning to a series!!!! I love this as I love to know more about her characters and how they continue on. A Beautiful Acceptance is the 2nd book in her new NYC series. I loved Prescott and Ki’s story in the first book (A Beautiful Heartache), and it was awesome to see them included in Alexa and Tappers story now. So let me tell ya’ll about my favorite book in this series so far!
Alexa is strong, dependable, brave, loyal and loving. But when you throw in the anger, sadness, trauma, disappointments through the years and being let down, she is wound up in an emotional tornado that threatens to lose control when a series of events happen consecutively. For her, the only family she has is Ki, her business partner and best friend. In her battle to keep things less chaotic for all of them Alexa is faced with a blast from the past. A man she once dated has shown up in a place she never expected. It’s her goal to make him see that she truly is sorry for the way things ended and it's not pity she’s sharing. But he won’t give her the time of day. She loses the win in her sails so to speak and starts changing on the inside and outside. She’s dealt with one more blow. The loss effects her more than she expected. How can she get a grasp on her life again?
Tapper is tired. He’s tired of feeling like a failure and a disgrace. Once upon a time he had a prized career in the ring, and the woman he grew to seriously love by his side. But that changed when she got scared and ran. On the brink of heartache he’s involved in a tragic moment that has left him even more beaten and broken than he was. He has been battling everyone and everything for months. He’s determined to get back to where he was, even if that means pushing everyone away from him faster. His focus has to be on getting better. If he doesn’t, what good is he to anyone? Let alone himself? The faster he pushes them away, the faster he can not rely on anyone. Or so he thinks! When Alexa steps into his life again, he can’t ignore her. No matter how hard he tries or how hard he pushes. She’s insistent and will do whatever it takes to have him hear her out. The question is, will he give in let her back in?
Their story is full of angst, love, frustration, heartache, lust, honesty and above all else, a second chance at a better life. They have to struggle through a lot and both have to let down their defenses. If they don’t, they ruin their chances at finding a beautiful acceptance of their lives as they are.
LOVED this book! Alora remains one of my favorite authors of all time. Each book she puts out, she brings even more heart and depth to her characters. She will grab you, make you cry, laugh and follow the emotional roller coaster with these phenomenal cast of each love story. I cried as always, I admit it! But I was filled with such joy and peace. In reality, you only truly accept the life you live in when you can make peace with so much. I’m learning that as I get older and it's exceptional to have someone else share that in this way. As always Alora, BRAVO!
A Beautiful Acceptance is the second installment for Alora Kate’s The NYC Series. It picks up from the first book A Beautiful Heartbreak but tells the story of Ki’s best friend Alexa Tanner.
As cliché as it may seem, I still enjoyed reading Alexa’s story. A typical second chance love story but for some reason, they were able to reach a part of my heart. Although it wasn’t really enough to make me cry, it still felt something. I was able to connect with the characters even though I wasn’t really able to relate to their pain or experiences. Although I think that it needs a little more polishing, I still liked that there were a little action here and there.
The characters, although a little typical and predictable for me, was enjoyable. They made me laugh and ache for them at some point, which is a very important factor in a good story. I also liked that the characters are real. Like someone who you can understand and reacts like how a normal human being.
Overall, this is a 4 star for me. Something enjoyable to read and a good recommendation for someone who likes romance and a little bit of action.
A sweet adventure with twists and turns to keep you captivated until the very last page!
I LOVE this series! I love these characters and this story line!! Alora Kate has done a great job with this story! She makes you fall in love with the characters immediately and then you fall in love with the story. It was so hard to put this book down!
I have to squeeze in reading between classes, kids, and work and it was hard to do that with this book because I just wanted to keep reading and forget about everything else!
I love the romance that is in the story, but more than that I love the friendship between Ki and Alexa and their backstory!
I love all of the unexpected surprises that hit you!
I just love every part of this series and cannot wait for the next book!
This second book in the NYC series picks up where book 1 left off and gives us Alexa's story. Much like the first book, we get some suspense and action, but the wonderful thing about this series lies in the character development. I have fallen for this odd mix of people and can't get enough of them and their interactions. Alexa and Tapper get a second chance at love and we get more details on why Alexa is so opposed to commitment as well as things from her past that she didn't even know about. Just as it is in real life, everything isn't tied up in a neat little bow at the end and we do have something of a cliffy to set the stage for book three. In the end, this series is more than a romance or mystery. It's a story of love, loss, and family - both those we're born with and those we find along the way.
Loved this story even more than the first in the series. This is Alexa and Tappers story. It took a while for me to warm up to Alexa, to me she was standoffish and not likeable, but you get to see why she is like she is, and you peel back layers and you start to understand her. I loved Tapper from the beginning, I don't know what it was, but yeah, he is pretty awesome. You get to revisit the characters from book one, and I always like that. Alora Kate has a writing style that just makes you fall in love with a story, and captures you. This is a definate read. Told in dual pov.
Second book into series and I am still drawn in.... Ki and Alexa are such amazing characters! This book was easy to flow into, story line had the great balance of twists, and not to mention.... hot guys.... lol... Alora has books that make you forget you have to do things... once you start reading... you can't stop until your finished!! Loves this book and you will too.
