Albeit that I still do tend to consider Pamela Cox’s continuations for Enid Blyton’s Malory Towers series to be in general quite a bit superior regarding both writing style and content to her, to Cox’ continuances for Blyton’s St. Clare’s series, I also do (and quite readily so) admit that I am most definitely and certainly not at all enthralled and in agreement with how Pamela Cox has penned Secrets at Malory Towers, which is the eleventh instalment of the Malory Towers series and the fifth of Pamela Cox’ novels continuing on from where Enid Blyton stops with Last Term at Malory Towers (where Darrell Rivers and company leave Malory Towers, where they from boarding school, and with her younger sister Felicity henceforth being amongst the main protagonists Pamela Cox textually brings forth).

For indeed, since I was not at all pleased with the entire and whole scenario of Josephine Johns in Last Term at Malory Towers (as she with her shenanigans of boasting, of stealing, of being majorly full of herself and finally being expelled from Malory Towers for running away never really feels as being truly part of Darrell Rivers and company’s boarding school experience), to have all of this then be basically quasi rehashed and revisited in Secrets at Malory Towers (by having the Josephine of Last Term At Malory Towers return, but incognito), well I for one have not been all that textually impressed by Pamela Cox bringing back an Enid Blyton Malory Towers character in a prominent role who in Last Term At Malory Towers is only ever playing a very minor and in my opinion also pretty well and problematically unnecessary and insignificant part.

And combined with the fact that I also do find first formers Daphne (Daffy) Hope and spoiled rotten little “princess” Violet Forsyth neither likeable nor relatable, as well as being truly massively tedious and annoyingly frustrating (not to mention that those characters who are in my opinion supposed to be the main so-called movers and shakers in Pamela Cox’ Malory Towers perpetuations, namely sixth formers like Felicity, June, Susan, Julie etc. all seem to play pretty sadly secondary and wishy-washy roles in Secrets at Malory Towers and that there is definitely too much of a focus on first formers behaving badly or nastily), while I would never claim that Secrets at Malory Towers is terrible and unreadable, it certainly for and to me has been the absolute weakest of Pamela Cox’ Malory Towers continuances thus far and as such worth only a very low and also rather grudging two star rating.

This one is one of my favourites from the Malory Towers series. This time, the girls are in their final year and about to sit their exams. Felicity Rivers is now head girl, but has to keep a stern eye on not just the younger students, but those in her own form too! The title of this book certainly is the main impression as many secrets are revealed, some which I didn't expect at all. For a few of the characters in particular, reading the earlier books may be helpful in learning more about them. It's written well, fast-paced and interesting.

This probably is the best of Cox's books in the series. I enjoyed the development of secondary characters seen in Blyton but never developed. Cox builds on canon and it really works out quite well. Felicity is in the sixth form and is made the head girl (did you doubt it?). It was rather nice to see how all the youngsters we only saw in passing in Blyton grow up with characters of their own.

There is just one new girl in the sixth - Alice. But some of the old Malory Towers girls feel that she is extremely familiar. Alice keeps to herself and does not talk much about her family, though she drops hints. As time passes, Felicity and the others find Alice's background more and more puzzling. Who could it possibly be? And why all the secrecy? I actually hit on the solution quite early in the book. I think it was so brilliant to use this character and it made a great plot.

Daffy Hope has joined the school in the first form. Remember the colourless and sensible Sally who was intensely jealous of her baby sister? Well, turns out Daffy is nothing like her older sister and is all set to take June's place instead of Sally's as the joker of the form. But Daffy has a nasty side to her, which comes out in her dealings with Violet, another rich, spoilt brat. But all's well, that ends well.

I was happy to see it all nicely wound up as Daffy enters MT and Felicity and June ready to pass out. Wonder what's left to say in the last book?

Based upon, and continuing Enid Blyton's Malory Towers series. Felicity is Head Girl of Malory Towers! Eager to prove herself, she has her hands full with naughty first formers, and a very mysterious new form-mate who is strangely familiar.

Enid Blyton's Malory Towers series was one that I devoured as a child. So, finding that Pamela Cox had continued this series using Felicity Rivers, the younger sister of Darrell Rivers from the original series, was a delight!

In this installment of her series of books, continuing the school days of Felicity, Felicity is now in the sixth and final form at Malory Towers. Also, like her sister was before her, she is now Head Girl of the school she loves. With this huge responsibility comes trouble, secrets and naughty first formers!

I think, of all Cox's books that I have read thus far, this is my favourite. I find the story very engaging and quite different from the others she has written, though she still writes in a stlye quite close to Blytons.

I loved that the stories told did not just happen among the sixth formers. They were spread evenly among the top form and the lower forms, most especially the first form - who I enjoyed many of the laughs and fun moments with, before returning to the mysteries within the sixth form.

As a whole, Secrets of Malory Towers was a lovely book to read and one I recommend to anyone who enjoys, or remembers enjoying the original Malory Towers series.

This book was one of the more disappointing books in the series in my opinion.

Well Pamela Cox continues to do Enid Blyton's beloved series proud.
Fun, games, intrigue and mystery, spiced with a dash of Danger...
And I don't think I'm giving much away if I say there is a divinely srumptious sounding Chocolate Cake... twice! Might need to get one this weekend.

I was going to save the last book by reading another inbetween but I'm going straight back in to cut down on the sadness I'm feeling.
It really is a delight to re-read and read these books, how will it end - watch this space for the answer.

This is one of the better of the Enid Blyton continuations. While the plot is unlikely, it builds on the canonical Malory Towers books in a enjoyable way, and Violet and Daffy (Sally's little sister) are fun additions to the series.

These books always give me feelings of nostalgia, I always loved reading about Malory Towers! In this one, people I remember from the Darrell series come back and they are more mischievous than before. While it's quite old-fashioned now, these little books are lovely quick reads for anyone who used to read boarding school stories.

Lol... I never feel too old for an Enid Blyton! I have lapped up every famous five, every school girl series, and recently bought the entire Malory towers set because over the years some old books have disappeared... Some lent, some donated. Thoroughly loved the term with Felicity, Daffy, Alice, and the rest of the girls :)

HELLO I JUST READ THIS BOOK CALLED AS MALORY TOWERS- SECTRETS BY ENID BLYTON. IT IS THE 11TH BOOK OF THIS SERIES!!!
IF YOU ARE NEW TO MALORY TOWERS SERIES, THEN I MUST TEL YOU TO READ IT FROM THE START WHICH IS MALORY TOWERS FIRST FORM BOOK. BUT IT ALSO DOESN'T MATTER AS THEY HAVE EXPLAINED IN SHORT EVERYTHING.
DARRELL RIVERS'S LITTLE SISTER, FELICITY RIVERS IS NOW HAVING FUN AT MALORY TOWERS. MALORY TOWERS IS A BOARDING SCHOOL FOR GIRLS. IT HAS 4 TOWERS- EAST, WEST, NORTH AND SOUTH TOWER. IT LOOKS LIKE A PALACE TO DARRELL AND FELICITY. THEY BOTH LOVE MALORY TOWERS DEARLY!!
FELICITY IS IN THE 5TH FORM AND AS SHE AND HER FORM IS OLDER, THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PLAY TRICKS ANYMORE AT MALORY TOWERS. JUNE, THE MASTER OF PLAYING TRICKS, IS CALMING DOWN AND DECIDED TO HAVE A RESTFUL TERM. BUT ALAS!! THINGS ARE ALWAYS HAPPENING AT MALORY TOWERS AND THIS BOOK IS ALL ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED IN THE FIRST FORM. DAPHNE HOPE, ALSO CALLED AS DAFFY, IS VERY POPULAR IN THE FIRST FORM. WHEN THE NEW GIRL, VIOLET, BOASTS A LOT ABOUT HER EXPENSIVE LIFESTYLE AND HER CAT, DAFFY IS VERY ANNOYED AND SHE DOES AN AWFUL TRICK WHICH WOULD HAVE TAKEN VIOLET'S LIFE IF THE GIRL OF 5TH FORM, ALICE WASN'T THERE. WANT TO SEE WHATEVER COULD HAVE HAPPENED LIKE THAT? READ THE BOOK....
THERE IS A NEW GIRL IN THE 5TH FORM ALSO AND HER NAME IS ALICE. EVERYONE STARTS TO SUSPECT HER WHEN THEY ALL AGGRED THAT SHE LOOKS SOMEWHAT SIMLILAR OR SHE REMINDS SOMEONE TO THEM!!
AFTER HALF TERM, VIOLET, OF THE 1ST FORM, DECIDES TO BRING HER CAT TO THE SCHOOL!! THAT IS DEFINATELY NOT AT ALL ALLOWED BUT VIOLET IS IN FOR THE ADVENTURE.
A LOT OF ADVENTURES HAPPEN AND MYSTRIES ARE SOLVED IN THE 5TH AND 1ST FORM!

-I decided to read this book because I had read several in the series that I liked.
-The category on the bingo board that this completes is a book written by a female.
-What I liked about this book was the vivid descriptions of the setting and characters. I also liked the way that the author wrote the book with humour twisted throughout it because I love a book that makes me have a good laugh somewhere in it.
-What I didn't like about this book was the fact that some of the characters are self-absorbed because those characters acted selfish, spoilt and inconsiderate.
-I would recommend this book to girls aged 10-14 because you can relate to the school experience and it is hilarious, some parts of the book made me laugh really hard.

I decided I couldn't wait and so read this again tonight and will finish my latest reread of the series sometime this weekend. I'll never be too old for the Malory Towers books- both original and newer! :D

This one shows us Daffy (Sally's younger sister) and brings back an old character in a new- and far more likeable- way, so the canon elements from the original books, if you like, is all still there. Another new addition, Violet, reminded me of Gwen so much in the beginning, but if I remember right, she turns out a lot nicer!

As always, I'm so nostalgic and sad about them at this point because they're almost over. But the best part is that I can always go back to them. Who knows, maybe one day, I'll be reading them to my own children. :)

Felicity's last year at Malory Towers has begun, and between her new responsibilities as head girl (including tryibg to contain some very unruly first formers), important exams coming up, and a new classmate who seems strangely familiar, she has a busy term ahead.

I got a little bored with the previous books and needed a break which ended up lasting almost three years - but I guess it did the trick. This one was fun and didn't feel anywhere near as much like it was just rehashing the original storylines and characters over and over as the last ones did.

Enjoyable as ever, and having some of the stories of the new first form, with Sally's sister Daffy, really added to the fun. Daffy was a pleasant addition, and having Willow involved, plus Alice's mystery (which I myself didn't actually see through, as it's been some time since I've read the original series) made for some less recycled stories. This made this particular instalment stand out as my favourite of the new series.

i like the way the author giving a twist on Alice's identity .

what i didnt like was Violet. the ending was a bit too simple to accept , based on Violet 's spoil brat attitude.

I liked this one the best so far (of the Cox' books). The 'who is Alice' thing was very entertaining and I'm looking forward to reading the last of the series.

One gets the idea that as Cox moves towards the end of her continuation series, she's trying to wrap up loose ends left behind in the original Malory Towers series. So it is here, with a mysterious sixth-former who reminds the girls of someone, except that they can never place her. I think it's rather unlikely that someone would change so very much that no one could actually recognise her, but okay. The introduction of little Daffy Hope as a June replacement was...well, very parallel, let's say, but I'm pretty sure that Daffy should not yet be old enough to enter Malory Towers if she was only a year old at most when Darrell and Sally were first-formers. Still, a worthwhile effort.

I thought that Alice's secret and character reveal at the end felt a bit obvious but I enjoyed it anyway. Alice's secret shows that it is possible for a person to change themselves completely and reinvent themselves in a new light. Her redemption arc was very satisfying to read and I liked that the girls have grown up more by giving her a chance instead of accusing her immediately. We are also introduced to several new first formers who create a lot of mischief. I think that the addition of these girls is somewhat necessary to maintain the excitement because the old girls at Malory Towers are no longer as carefree and mischievous as they used to be.

I found this Malory Towers continuation novel by Pamela Cox this a rather enjoyable read. Now that Felicity and Co. are sixth former and Felicity, of course, is Head Girl, Cox combines some of the senior girls' adventures with those of younger girls in the first form, which is a nice idea because older girls are usually too dignified to get into the same kind of fun scrapes as the younger girls do.

The theme of redemption in both the senior and junior girls' storylines is quite nice. The novels are derivative, very much in Blyton's style, but that's what readers want from them.

I don't know why, but I actually sort of remember this book. I feel like I should have seen the plot twist coming (and perhaps I would have if I hadn't been... however old I was. 9? 10? 7? I honestly have no idea) but I didn't. I think it was one of the first major plot twists that I'd read too, and I loved it so much. I can't really explain why, so let's call it my crippling inability to say anything bad about any of the books in this series. No, I will not listen. Malory Towers is my series, and I will not be taking any slander.

This is one of my favourite book in the Malory towers series . It tells about the cruelty of racism . Head girl felicity who need to look after the naughty first formers was the setting of the book . It tells to be responsible through the story of Felicity , The Head Girl . It tells even not to bully or tease someone through the story of Daffy and Violet , The best enemies . This is quite suitable for the young readers as it has a simple language with clear meaning

It was really good and straight forward! Which I liked but I feel like it dragged on in parts , my favourite chapter was the midnight feast I may change it to 4 stars instead of 3 In the future , however I also love these books because if you are just getting back into reading to me they are such an easy read!!

I think it was very good but I didn't like how much it focused on the first formers instead of the sixth. Daffy Hope, however, drove me insane the entire book. I hated how obnoxious and disrespectful she was. I think she should have got expelled. SHE NEARLY KILLED 2 PUPILS!!!!!!!!!!!

If you come to the garden shed at 12p.m., everything will be revealed: Daffy's latest naughty prank, what Mam'zelle found in her handbag and Alice's amazing secret. The sixth form are in for a shock. I recommend you to read this book.
