I really enjoyed this story. He planned to marry her for her estate, which was once his, but fell in love along the way! I loved how much he loved her. Yes at first he was not quite admirable but he definitely fell in love hard. I was sad at the ending when he went back to England, but the epilogue was perfect! Safe and free in KU!
4.5 stars Lady Elizabeth hadn’t had a good season in London but she had been instrumental in getting those around her married. Now, she is in Edinburgh with her friends, Julia and Georgina. At a ball she meets Sebastian, Lord Hastings, a handsome man with a reputation of a rake. They are attracted to each other in many ways, unfortunately not all reasons are honourable. This was an engaging story that had a few heartbreak moments but a satisfying ending. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A Highlands historical romance, one cannot help but feel for Lady Elizabeth as she is wooed and courted by Lord Hastings. Sebastian Denholm has his reasons for following Elizabeth from London with a view to marrying her, but she is unaware of them. Two people who are obviously meant for each other are in danger of losing everything because of secrets and a hidden agenda. This romance is fairly short but entertaining as Sebastian gets more than he bargained for. The romance is part of a series but is nevertheless a standalone and comes to a good conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Determined to put a troubled Season behind her, Lady Elizabeth Mackintosh eschewed the London social whirl to enjoy Edinburgh. When a handsome English Earl arrives and sets everyone's hearts aflutter, all the better. Sebastian Denholm, Earl of Hastings will endure a Scottish Season if it means he can seduce Lady Elizabeth Mackintosh. Coveting an estate she owns, marriage is the simplest way to acquire it. But when marriage binds Sebastian and Elizabeth together, Sebastian's real reason for their union threatens to rip them apart. The sixth book in the series & yes it could easily be read on its own but seriously this series is so good I’d recommend reading from the start, characters from earlier books do make appearances & Lizzie is Brice’s sister (Brice's story is book 3), it’s the icing on the cake for me when previous characters appear. I loved Lizzie who deserved her HEA, I also loved Sebastian who fell hard & fast. Of course secrets & then mistrust almost derail their future. I loved their journey to their HEA & read the book in an afternoon as I couldn't put it down My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Got this story from Tamara Gill as an Arc Reader.Loved it throughly. The story was exceptional and about a Scottish Lass who bought luck to others and not to her.Except now aLord discovered she was given a property that was his family’s which his brother lost in a game of cards.Well this actually became his best luck charm,.Will not say anymore. But a very good read and not drawn out story like some.Thank you Tamara and keep the story’s coming.
Is there anything Tamara Gill writes that isn't heartwarming??? She writes with such emotion and life that the reader is transported into her story, feeling and experiencing what the characters are going through. Sebastián Dunholm, Earl of Hastings wants a family estate, Halligale, that his now deceased brother lost in a card game to Lady Elizabeth Mackintosh's brother who has now deeded it to her as a gift. His plan is to trick her into marriage to gain his childhood ancestral home back, but true love has other intentions. A spectacular story!
Elizabeth was known for being a good luck charm due to all her friends getting married all around her. Unfortunately, she had no luck herself! But that luck was about to change!
She was in Edinburgh with her friends and the first man that grabs her interest is Sebastian. What she did not know is that her was interest in her... only for the land she had been gifted by her brother. Land that belonged to his family. It looked like marrying her might be a way to get it back.
Oh the best laid plans! It seems it may just work out for them but only if she does not find out about the real reason he wanted to gain her favor in the first place!
Lady Elizabeth Mackintosh is a lovely Scottish lass & she was attending this Season in Scotland. Her last season in London earned her the nickname of "Lucky Lizzie" as all her friends & other young ladies that pressed friendship with her, were all courted & married - all but her. Perhaps, this year in Scotland would be lucky for her to find love & a husband.
Sebastian Denholm, Earl of Hastings, is a handsome rake from the London scene & he is in Scotland for a very specific reason - Lady Elizabeth Mackintosh. His brother, now deceased & the reason Sebastian now had a title he never wanted, lost their family home they grew up in with their Scottish Mother in a card game to Lady Elizabeth's brother. He was here to find a way to get is back & a new plan was hatching - marry the chit!
I felt sorry for Elizabeth as she was so sweet & had to withstand her London nickname & now, she was being tricked into to caring for someone who has false plans. The quick relationship, marriage, lies, truths, romance & love all result in a HEA but the journey, although entertaining, is not a smooth one. I highly recommend this book (it can be read as a standalone) but all the books in this series are excellent, entertaining reads with lovable couples that you root for from the beginning. I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.
WONDERFUL!!! To Kiss a Highland Rose by Tamara Gill is book 6 in the Kiss the Wallflower series and oh what a series. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. What I just loved about this book is that it is the character. So charming and even though the hero’s reasoning is not on the up and up (you will understand what I mean when you read this book) you still love him. Tamara’s books are a true delight to read and she never ever disappoints. It is an easy read and the descriptions very vivid. This story has a motive for marriage, lucky in love for everyone but them self, an inheritance that someone lost in a card game, finding out the truth, hurt, anger, good friends and falling in love. I highly recommend this book.
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
That dirty rat, Sebastian with all of his good looks and smooth tongue decides to woo Elizabeth into marrying him for his own selfish reasons. Was that harsh enough? But along the way he falls in love with her. I thought Elizabeth was too hard on herself and fell for Sebastian a little too easily. However, I liked that she showed a lot of backbone when she decided that she will not live with his deceitful ways. This was a nice short story that will warm your heart (the epilogue is fabulous).
To Kiss a Highland Rose, by Tamara Gill. I enjoyed reading this romantic story. The story is a short read which reads at a moderate pace. The book is mainly focused around the romantic courtship between Elizabeth and Sebastian. The dialogue was understandable, even though their was a little brogue here in there. I liked that the writer used the brogue dialect, because it added to the realism of the book. The characters contributed to the witty moments of the romance of Elizabeth and Sebastian. With the drama being light, I was still entertained by the plot of the story. The writer did a great job of capturing my imagination with telling a good story. I look forward to reading more from her. I voluntary reviewed this ARC after receiving a free gifted copy.
Be prepared for all the feels and lots of heartstring tugging as Elizabeth and Sebastian's romance unfolds. I loved Elizabeth and my heart hurt for her. She was so kind and just such a good person that I felt she deserved better all the way around. As for Sebastian, he had me on the fence. His devious plan was underhanded and hurtful. His actions added a certain taint to the character that I had to work hard to get past. In the end I grew to like him and truly felt this couple was meant to be. The writing is well done, the storyline captivating and the whole package immersive. A wonderful read. This is my volitional, unbiased review.
This story, like the ones before in this series is well worth the time to read it. Her wallflowers and the men that come to love them are multifaceted and have depth. Would absolutely recommend it
I really enjoyed the sixth book in the Kiss the Wallflower series. Lady Elizabeth is poise, grace and good humor but has a self confidence issue. Sebastian is really an idiot to start. He's all about himself and his needs and views Elizabeth only as a means to an end. Even given ample warning from his friend and his own conscience he barrels along on a predetermined path until he realizes just what a fool he was. In truth, I liked his character development, it was so well done that you could clearly sense the change in him. And I loved Elizabeth's actions at the end. She took a risk and he grew up.
I originally thought Elizabeth would be paired with Angus for her bother's story but I really enjoyed how this one rolled out. A delightful series from start to finish!
Elizabeth has brought the luck of marriage to others, but it seems to elude her. She is spending some time visiting Edinburgh when the Earl of Hastings starts to pay her attention. She assumes that he wants to spend time with her because he is ready to get married and being around her will give him luck toward that end. But what she doesn't know is that he has other plans...
Sebastian is determined to get back a property that his brother lost gambling. Elizabeth is now the owner of that property. His original plan was to get her to sell it to him, but then decides that marrying her is the better solution. What will Elizabeth do when she learns the truth?
I really enjoyed Elizabeth and Sebastian's story! It was enjoyable watching them fall for one another and to enjoy all the bantering between the two. This was a great addition to the Kiss the Wallflower series!
Lady Elizabeth Mackintosh is enjoying the Scottish season in Edinburgh to avoid a London season and her reputation as a Lucky Lizzy. She approached by the devastating handsome man Sebastian Denholm, Lord Hastings when he introduces himself and set out to charm and court her. Elizabeth is suspicious of his reasons, and what she doesn’t know is he’s after the estate she recently inherited from her brother. Sebastian will go to any length to reclaim his childhood home even marring the enemy. What starts out as an innocent courtship quickly turns out quite differently when Elizabeth finds out the secret behind Sebastian’s courtship? Will she forgive him, will she be able to trust and in their new found love? I have voluntarily read and reviewed these excellent story.
A Courtship of Deceit. Sebastian, Earl of Hastings, is on a mission. His plan is to buy back the family Scottish estate his brother lost in a card game. Then his friend suggests he marry the lady who now owns it. Elizabeth is more appealing than he expected. He wants to marry her for love, not for the estate. What are his chances of keeping Elizabeth as his wife when she finds out the truth? What a mess with nothing but heartache on both sides. Sebastian has to figure out a way to prove to Elizabeth she's all he wants? This book grabbed me in for an all nighter. A fantastic read!
To Kiss a Highland Rose is the sixth book in the Kiss the Wallflower series. The story begins in Edinburgh, 1810, and the Epilogue is set at Halligale Estate, 1813, Scotland. This is a solid historical romance that was slightly predictable but enjoyable nonetheless.

Lady Elizabeth Mackintosh eschewed the London social whirl to enjoy Edinburgh, determined to put a troubled Season behind her. Elizabeth has the moniker “Lucky Lizzie”, meaning she was a good luck charm for debutantes looking to marry. One by one, friends around her were courted and whisked down the aisle. But not Lizzie.
Sebastian Denholm, Lord Hastings, will endure a Scottish Season if it means he can seduce the Lady who owns the Estate where he grew up. He himself is an English Earl but his mother was Scottish. Coveting the property, marriage is the simplest way Sebastian knows to acquire it.
Sebastian and Elizabeth’s relationship began with a one-sided callous agenda but soon developed into an attraction. Lizzie truly did have a challenging journey but she handled it with a sensible head and a forgiving heart.
The new Earl of Hastings, Sebastian, is a rogue but an honest one. He decided to win back his ancestral estate in Scotland where he grew up. The trouble was an alluring young woman owned it. As his affections become engaged, he denies them and only thinks of getting Elizabeth to marry him so he would once again own his ancestral home. Elizabeth was on the fence whether Sebastian was on the up and up. She fell in love with him. When Sebastian knew he truly cared for Elizabeth but still wanted the home he rushed the proposal to elope. When her brother found out he was ready to pull Sebastian limb from limb. Brice told Elizabeth the real reason Sebastian married her. She was livid and would not believe what Sebastian was saying that he no longer was interested in the property because without her it would never be a home. He loved her. She told him to go and never see her again. The rest of the story is quite interesting as to how they lived their lives without each other and the things Sebastian did to show her he really did love her. A good read. Very romantic.
Sebastian and Lizzie were meant to be together. Elizabeth was called Lucky Lizzie for all the wrong reasons. Determined to put a troubled Season behind her, Lady Elizabeth Mackintosh eschewed the London social whirl to enjoy Edinburgh—the joie de vivre she hadn't realized was missing. When a handsome English Earl arrives and sets everyone's hearts aflutter, all the better. Sebastian Denholm, Lord Hastings, will endure a Scottish Season if it means he can seduce Lady Elizabeth Mackintosh. Coveting an estate she owns, marriage is the simplest way to acquire it. Shockingly, the courtship is enjoyable when Lady Elizabeth reveals herself as one of the most beautiful, intelligent women he's ever met. But when marriage binds Sebastian and Elizabeth together, Sebastian's real reason for their union threatens to rip them apart. One English Earl finds there is nothing more fearsome than a Scottish lass who's been played the fool twice. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
While enjoying the Scottish Season in Edinburgh, Lady Elizabeth Mackintosh meets Sebastian Denholm, Lord Hastings. After a whirlwind courtship, they elope. They travel immediately to Castle Moy to tell her brother of their marriage. Brice, Laird Mackintosh, is furious. It seems Sebastian may have a less than romantic motive for marrying Lizzie. What will happen when his secret is revealed?
I found this story entertaining, and I love the characters; Lizzie and Sebastian, and the characters from other stories in the series. Sebastian started out a little shady, but managed to change, and for the right reasons. Lizzie is sweet and feisty. This is one HEA that definitely did not come easily, but was worth the wait. Good read, lovely epilogue. I recommend it.
Sebastian is an English Earl with a Scottish mother and happy fulfilled memories of Scotland so much so he envisioned a way to get back the property and a pretty wife all in one swoop?!! The fact that she has red hair and is Scottish should have been literally a "red" flag!! Lizzie aka Elizabeth had a moniker in England she loathed Lucky Lizzy! But Sebastian genuinely started to like her warm, smile and startling green eyes! But once he set the plan in motion he started thinking with his other Head and wanted to make her his! I don't want to reveal too much but once his plan unraveled he didn't go back to his old haunts he legitimately messed up and turned to business once more his own estate and affairs! I love the fact that Lizzy recognized she had choices and what she did would affect the rest of her life! Yes they get a HEA but at what cost...
This is book 6 in the Kiss the Wallflower series but you can read it as a standalone. Lady Elizabeth Mackintosh didn't have a good time with her season in London, so she has come home to Scotland to have a season there. Sebastian Denholm, Earl of Hastings shows up and sets his sights on Elizabeth. Sebastian wants Lady Elizabeth's home, which used to be in his family so why not marry her and get it that way, so he does. BUT, of course, she finds out why he married her and won't hear anything he has to say. Can they find their happy ever after? Another great book by Tamara Gill. I've enjoyed this whole series. I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.
It was refreshing to have Lady Elizabeth MacKintosh and Lord Sebastian Denholm, Earl of Hastings, story centered in the Scottish Season in Edinburgh as opposed to the English Season in London, where Lucky Lizzie's bad luck finally turns around. Or does it? Their story has many facets that are fun to witness! I enjoyed it, however, I would have liked more details about Lady Julia and Lord Hastings best friend and am hoping for their story!
The 6th book in the Kiss The Wallflower series is a romantic novella with a touch of spice that does not disappoint the reader hoping for a happily ever after for Lady Elizabeth. Tamara Gill has created characters and settings that draw the reader into the story and the Scottish locales. Although I found the denouement a little hurried and a trifle improbable, I loved the epilogue. I hope that there are further books in this entertaining series.
I give 3 star not because this book was not good. The story was sweet, one of the worthed to read book. But the reason Elizabeth forgiven Sebastian was too fast explained as if Lady Writer dont want to prolong the story..while I would love to read more about them.. and how Sebastian fight to gain back Elizabeth's love, how he fight to gain Brice's trust etc etc. Anyway...i still love this book and rthis book should have more pages.
I'm 40 pages into a story that's only 130 pages long and literally nothing has happened. The main characters have had only 2 short and lackluster scenes together. The story hasn't even gotten to the main plot yet. It's just been setup, which leads me to believe that the conflict is so underdeveloped that the author has literally had to add filler to pad out a novella. The characters don't even have enough personality to make up for the boring story.
