Immortal #3

The Lost Key of the Buddha

Rate this book
This book is the long-awaited Book 3 sequel of The Immortal series, revealing the 2rd of the 12 Keys of Knowledge. For thousands of years it has been assumed that the core teaching of the Buddha - the Middle Way - has been understood. But has it? John, the Beloved disciple of Jesus, and also of Siddhartha in an earlier time, reveals otherwise - a lost key to restore the teaching of the Master. Excerpt from the "As Siddhartha Gautama, who became the Buddha, sat under the Bodhi Tree near starvation, seeking enlightenment, he heard some singing; the words he heard are said to be something like If you tune the strings of a harp too tight, the sound will not be right. If the strings are too slack as they play, a beautiful sound will not be made. Neither too tight nor too limp shall be the strings, If the player is to be worthy of kings. The tension must be tuned by the ear To fill the soul of all who hear. When he heard these words, a light turned on in his mind. He realized that the first part of his life, where he dwelt in luxury, was likened unto a string too loose. The second part of his life, where he sought nirvana through starvation and austerity, was as a string too tight. He now saw a Middle Way that was just right. Unfortunately, that vision was lost and replaced in history by a watered-down idea that was already common knowledge and turns on no light. In this age it is assumed that the Middle Way is moderation. This assumption is not correct. In this volume the true Middle Way is again revealed. The Middle Way will turn on the light, and the principle of enlightenment will again have meaning." Are the Keys of Knowledge the missing link between Christianity and Buddhism? Find out why this series is so compelling that readers are left wanting more.

This is the third book in the Immortal series and picks up where the last one left off. Joe and Elizabeth are set a task by John to find the Key Word that represents the Middle Way of the Buddha. This time, it is Joe, rather than Elizabeth, who must travel through the Dark Night of the Soul and face his demons to complete this task. In the end, the Lost Keyword is simple, but not what many would expect.

I think The lost Key of the Buddha is one of the most important books I have read in years. Throughout the book, which reads like a story, John explains both Buddha’s and Jesus’s teachings, shows the large overlap and explains why the two works of knowledge at times appear to differ. It is important to note that I follow neither Buddhism nor Christianity yet I could completely relate to the teaching within this book. Understanding this key was an incredible revelation for me and has changed the way I will now make decisions in my life. I would recommend it to everyone who is drawn to this book, regardless of which religion you follow or your spiritual inclinations. I look forward to reading the next in the series.
