E é a extraordinária caminhada do pintor que teve um um período de trabalho ativo de apenas 10 anos, que vendeu um único quadro em vida, que procurou insistentemente um sentido existencial, sempre a braços com a carência e a loucura. Um homem multifacetado, que foi pregador, professor, comerciante de arte, e até trabalhador nas minas. Para além do talento incontestável, é também toda esta aura mítica à volta da figura do pintor, que faz com que as suas obras sejam hoje das mais conhecidas em todo o mundo e atinjam valores astronómicos.

Vincent Van Gogh siempre ha sido uno de mis pintores favoritos, por lo que me encantó conocer detalles sobre la vida del artista y como estos se relaciona con su obra. Por ejemplo, saber que su vida estuvo marcada por la soledad y como lo plasmó en sus pinturas, conocer de donde obtuvo la inspiración, el proceso de su evolución, los movimientos artisticos por los que se sintió atraído, los pintores clásicos que admiraba, etc.
Este libro fue una experiencia totalmente enriquecedora, lo que me hace valorar y comprender aún más el arte de Van Gogh, el que es considerado el inicio del arte moderno.

📖 Bu eser 93 sayfadan oluşan kısa ama dolu dolu bir kitap (hatta belki kitapçık). Eser Van Gogh’un hayatını dönemsel olarak anlatmış. Eserlerinin kısa incelemeleri ile birlikte yaşadıklarının bu eserlere nasıl yansıdığından bahsetmiş. Hatta bahsi geçen yaşam dönemlerini ele alırken o dönemde gerçekleşmiş ve tüm dünyayı etkilemiş büyük olayları da yer eden bir kronoloji köşesi de konmuş. Anlayacağınız bu çok yönlü eser ne fazla tekniki bilgi içeriyor ne de fazla yüzeysel kalıyor. Resim ve metin oranı harika ayarlanmış bir tanıtım kitabı ✨

🖼 Kitap aslında sergi/müzelerde görebileceğiniz tarzda küçük dergi benzeri bir yapılandırmaya ve tasarıma sahip. Bir ressamın hayatını konu aldığını düşünürsek böyle bir tasarımı ise yerinde buldum. Yani Van Gogh’un biyografisini merak eden ama düz yazılı uzun bir kitap okumak istemeyenler için bu eser birebir ✨

Me gustó mucho aprender de su vida. De como sufrió con su salud mental y física, su muerte y su fama despué de ella, relación con su hermano, etc. Me gusta mucho su arte, en lo personal me inclino a los impresionistas y me gusta la forma en que pinta sus paisajes. En mi casa enemos dos cuadros de él, los doce girasoles y el cuarto. Es muy interesante cómo el éxito puede llegar mucho despué de lo planeado.

Lieliska, visaptveroša grāmatiņa par izcilo mākslinieku. Šeit neatrast informācijas pārbagātību, taču pats būtiskākais par van Goga mākslu un privāto dzīvi ir ietverts. Plašākam un vizuāli izsmalcinātākam ieskatam varu ieteikt "The Vincent van Gogh Atlas", kas izdots sadarbībā ar māksliniekam veltīto muzeju Amsterdamā.

A nice book about van Gogh, touching on both the artist's life and the techniques, styles and inspiration behind his artwork. However, I was a little confused as to what the "world history" notes on the side were supposed to achieve here.

Dieter Beujean’s illustrated biography of Vincent van Gogh is a beautiful introduction to the “Life and Work” of Vincent van Gogh. “Life and Work” is the book's subtitle. The book is part of the Art in Focus series. The book was translated from German into English by Paul Aston with the help of the firm named Goodfellow & Egan. Vincent van Gogh lived between 1853 and 1890. Vincent van Gogh was only 37 years old when he died, but his artistic legacy was very influential (Beujean & Aston 90-91). Each of the chapters of this short book begins with a timeline of events in Vincent van Gogh's life and events in the World’s history during his lifetime. The book is only 91 pages, but the book covers a great deal of ground. The book includes a glossary of terms used in the text, such as the definitions for vocabulary, such as avant-garde and a burin. The book consists of many aspects of Vincent van Gogh’s life and the artistic influences on Vincent van Gogh’s work. The book covers Vincent van Gogh’s legacy as well. The book has large print text and is very readable. The book has seven chapters. The book is a beautiful introduction to the “Life and Work” of Vincent van Gogh.

Very interesting and informative. It's a small handbook, brief and concise, with a biographical and artistic description of van Gogh's life and work; it also contains a very useful glossary with art and art history terminology, pictures and images suited to the chapter's discussion and historical chronologies for context.
For its price, and for its size, I would say that it is very much worth it and that it fulfilled the expectations that I had. I can imagine that someone looking for a more in depth analysis of van Gogh's life might not be satisfied with just this book - it is, nonetheless, a nice introduction for laymen, and it certainly sparked my curiosity.
