Enchantress #2

The Sorceress

Rate this book

A graphically sensual tale blending the paranormal with breathtaking suspense.

Jennifer Darnell accepts a nanny position for one of the most powerful political couples in Philadelphia. The little boy she's hired to care for has been diagnosed as autistic but his sinister behavior has Jen suspecting that the child is in cahoots with the devil.

After sighting a naked woman running across a bridge in broad daylight, Jen is convinced she's losing her mind. But when she bumps into a gorgeous police officer who admits to seeing the woman, too, Jen is moderately comforted. While she and the hot-looking cop attempt to unravel the mystery, sparks fly between them, and a steamy love affair begins.

Meanwhile, Eris, the fallen goddess from The Enchantress has been languishing on the Dark Realm. Yearning for revenge against the Stovall family, she escapes her hellish holding place.

Now back with a vengeance, Eris is on the prowl for sex and blood. Using her powers of deception and intoxicating sexual deviancy, she easily bends the will of both men and woman. But when she sets her sights on Jen's man, the young nanny fights back...but can she win?

Though merely a child, Kali Stovall is at the top of Eris's hit list. Eris's reign of sexual terror and dominion seems unstoppable unless someone or something equally powerful comes forward to challenge her. Can this child and the other innocent victims be rescued from Eris's depraved rampage?

If you have read The Enchantress then this sexy scary sequel is a definite MUST READ! This novel picks up about four years from where the previous master piece left off and reunites us with our favorite past characters as well as introduces us to a host of new lovable characters, along with a few new deplorable ones of course. Bryce and Ajali Stovall, after being horribly terrorized by Eris are still residing happily on their Virgina property with their young daughter Kali. Unbeknownst to them, the goddess of destruction is not only "alive" wanting her precious jewels, but still holds them extremely close to the top of her hit list behind only their innocent daughter. Evil Xavier a.k.a Ethan, centuries old and massively wicked is still posing as the 5 year old son of Senator Daniel Provost, and his wife, Vice Presidential Candidate Catherine. Small Ethan refuses to play, speak, or even engage anyone and routinely fiends symptoms of an oncoming asthma attack or a violent autistic episode when he is forced to do something he dislikes, including being made to use the toilet opposed to soiling himself. If Ethan had it his way he'd sit in front of his computer endlessly staring at stock images of bridges while hatching his master plan of revenge against the Provosts for their past life centuries old indiscretions against him. We meet all of the Provost's lovely hire helped, including Jen, Ethan's newest live in nanny. The unusual red headed beauty, is lying to her parents pretending to still be away at college while sticking with this horrid job not only for the money and the roof over her head to help her maintain her lie but also with vain hopes of being promoted to the prestigious job as the senator's assistant. Clever Eris will escape from hell and join Xavier at the Provost estate and wreck unimaginable havoc in her and her new love interests life.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed The Sorceress, there are a few reasons why it didn't demand a five star rating in my opinion. This novel started off slow compared to Allison Hobbs' other page turning works and definitely was not as action packed as I expected. I felt the ending was rushed and simply thrown together haphazardly to swiftly end the book. Hopefully a part three is coming to finally put a stop to this paranormal madness, and to elaborate on the remaining characters to fulfill the many unanswered questions. Two other things I disliked was Hobbs repetitive use of about the same six words. These aren't day to day words normally so they stick out like a sore thumb, and I'm sure all readers will notice how much she favors them. Last but not least I find it very unrealistic how Jen and "Hot Cop" fall in love almost instantly! I love their connection and his character back ground but come on! I do have to add that the author does a great job with the descriptive, sensual, and arousing sex scenes on Earth and the spooky, breathtaking ones in the Dark Realm. This book without a doubt left me wanting more! Great job!

This one actually had a little dry spell, which I was very shocked by. It also came to an abrupt end or solution (If you ask me)but I still enjoyed it.
