Some of my favorite things: reading, writing, the two coolest guys on the planet (my husband and son), my bicycle (my husband built it for me), Facebook (I'm fairly certain it's an addiction at this point), iced coffee (hazelnut), and music (LOVE Sunset Sons, the 1975, Dredg, the xx, Balance and Composure, Teenage Bottlerocket, and Manchester Orchestra). I also love dreaming, which brings me to my next point. I have one bit of advice for anyone reading this ... follow your dreams. It's never too late. Get started today ... heck get started RIGHT NOW! I wanted to write a book 20 years ago. Instead I waited. And waited. I should've been writing. But I didn't. I don't do regrets, because the past is just that, the past. But let me tell you there's nothing in the world like achieving something you've dreamt about for years and years. So, get started. Make your dreams reality.

description

After reading and loving Bright Side and Gus by Kim Holden, I knew I wanted to read her debut novel, All of It. It was much different than her other books, but what a story! The plot was unique, the story was beautiful and that ending… my god I had tears running down my face. It was exceptional. There were times it felt a little slow in the middle, but overall I LOVED IT. It gave me the feels in an entirely different way. Dimitri and Veronica were fantastic characters and their story is unforgettable!

Actually, I shouldn't rate this book maybe because I have read it until %50 and then the main character, Veronica, annoyed me so much that I wanted to throw away my kindle. She was a selfish, spoiled and irritating character and because I couldn't stand her, I didn't care for her story.

She had this amazing boyfriend, Dimitri, and she just didn't deserve him!

I couldn't feel their love story much, or maybe, I only felt Dimitri's, and I was yelling loudly, "Oh Dimitri, go find someone else, she isn't worth all of this" but of course he was destined to fall in love with her no matter what.

And after %50 of the book, where stupid drama after drama followed one another, I dropped the book (which is something I hate to do).

And I thought maybe I would find the strength to go on some day but having talked to my buddy read Bookylicious, I was convinced that it was going to drag me till the end with the same tone and the same type of drama. So I opened and read the last 30-40 pages to solve the mystery.

OK; the ending was good... really good.
But why was it good? Because this book has a very unique plot (don't read the spoiler if you want to read this book because it will ruin the book for you) . And with this unique plot, even though the book was boring, annoying and unbearable, the ending was interesting because as I said, with a topic like that, "the revelation of the mystery" moment was bound to be interesting...

So, I am rating this book, emphasizing that I read it until %50 and then couldn't stand it and therefore, skipped maybe 100-120 pages and then I read the end of it.

So, my rating, which is 3 points, all goes to the originality of the "plot" but a plot like this could have been written in such a better way, not in an annoying way that this book is written with a horrible heroine and with so much teenage drama and stupidity.

Wow! This is a long listening. 11 hours. The story of life, ever lasting love, growing up becoming an adult, soulmate, family, and acceptance. Many many more i think. But i wont summarize it here. You have to read it.

80% of this book might be boring with description how perfect is Dimitri. He is perfect. But i feel 80% is way too much description.

Veronica met Dimitri on school and they bounded very quickly. Soon that bound turns into love. Veronica also have vivid dream about knowing Dimitri but she can not figure it out explanation. Dimitri seems to know Veronica. I thought it will be a mystery romance book.

But it turns out to be a beautiful touching love story. A life journey.

When I was given the opportunity to read All of It by Kim Holden, I jumped at the chance to review this book because all I heard how amazing BrightSide was and I wanted to check out her debut book, All of It.

#AllOfIt-KimHolden

All of It was definitely one of those books that took on a slow pace as the story progresses. It was not necessarily bad but I felt at times, the author should have quicken the pace up a bit. With that being said, All of It was a lovely book that explores love, life, friendships, happiness, loss, and soul-mates. Personally, this book dealt with theme of connections. Two souls destined to meet and have their lives intertwined with one another. Dimitri and Veroinca were two lovers whose journey consisted of them exploring life and love together through the ups and downs.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and the last few chapters since it did capture the true essence of life, love, and happiness.

“I promise to love you every day … every yesterday, every today, and every tomorrow … forever.”

All of It by Kim Holden
4 stars!!

“Life is sometimes…destined.”

After the EPIC read that was Bright Side that was also penned by this author I decided to read the other book that Kim Holden had written. For a first book, this book was amazing. I was glued to the pages from start to finish, trying to read between the lines, coming up with my own ideas and just drowning in Veronica and Dimitri’s story.

“Life is sometimes … tingly and covered with goose bumps.”

Kim Holden has the art of bringing her characters to life, you feel like they are your friends and you are on their journey with them. You feel like a voyeur looking in, but the writing is like a drug, you just have to keep reading. As with Bright Side this book is emotional in places and yes the tear ducts were working, but it is not on the same level as Brightside for tear inducing moments.

“Life is sometimes … an epiphany.”

This is the story of Veronica and Dimitri and what a beautiful story it was too. Veronica/Ronnie is a senior in high school; she is sporty, one of the lads, academic, helpful, kind, thoughtful…just an amazing girl that has her hopes, dreams and aspirations. She tries to keep herself to herself just having a close knit of friends, who incidentally are mainly guys. But her “guys” are like brothers; they look after her and are extremely protective of her.

“Life is sometimes … mind-blowing.”

Ronnie is assigned to chaperone the new student for a few days, something that she volunteered for being the kind and caring person she is. Nothing could prepare her for the onslaught of feelings she had when she met Dimitri. Despite a shaky start, these two fast became friends, there was just something about him that had Ronnie mesmerised. He had a fantastic memory and could remember everything she ever said and even some things she thought she hadn’t even mentioned, but she must have, right? How could any guy be that attentive?

“Well, in that case, pack up, Ronnie. We will leave this unsatisfactory, tear-inducing hell-hole for something much more upscale. There’s an IHOP just down the street.”

Dimitri is so swoon worthy it is unbelievable, he is perfect in every way and his feelings for Ronnie are more than just friendship. He is super intelligent, a fantastic artist, a musician, it just seems that there is nothing he cannot do and everything he does, he does well. Dimitri makes it his mission to win the heart of Ronnie and he is a man on a mission. He has complete tunnel vision when it comes to Ronnie, but you can tell that these two would be fantastic together, they complement each other, and they understand each other and bring out the best in each other.

“Dimitri was and remains the constant in my life; a saint sent to endure me. There’s no other way to put it. He simply … lovingly … endures me.”

I cannot say much more because it would give away too much of the story and this is one of those that needs to be read and experienced first-hand. Yes they have their ups and downs and there are some trying moments but love conquers all and when fate deals its hand you just have to go with the flow. These two were soul mates, they have that undeniable connection, and you feel the emotion and the passion in their connection. Dimitri is so open with his feelings, his love for Ronnie radiates off the page and you just cannot help but champion them along. Ronnie is always that bit more reserved and holds back at times and you just want to tell her to wake up and smell the coffee because what she has in front of her is once in a lifetime…literally!!

“I promise to love you every day … every yesterday, every today, and every tomorrow … forever.”

This book has the same writing style as Bright Side, fluid, emotional, captivating, all encompassing…one of those stories that I couldn’t put down and hard to believe was a debut book. This author is incredibly talented though, this is a plot that has that element of suspense and it isn’t until the end that all is revealed. I had my suspicions and had kind of guessed but not after being wrong on so many occasions. This book proves Kim Holden’s versatility as it is so different from Bright Side yet just as compelling. I cannot wait to read what this author pens next, I for one will definitely be reading, I have another 1click author on my list. All I can say is bring it on Kim Holden bring it on!!

“Life is sometimes … finding something to live for.”
“Life is sometimes … auspicious.”
“Life is sometimes … enduring.”
“Life is sometimes … just right.”
“Life is sometimes … your past and your future.”

Why? Why didn’t I listen to myself when I after only 2 (yes 2!) sentences found myself wanting to throw the book away? A book that starts with: “Hi, my name’s Veronica.” “Hi, I’m Dimitri.” is obviously going to keep being as unimaginable and boring as the beginning. The general idea of the book, with reincarnation could have turned it into a pretty good novel, but this book was soo boring and slow paced I almost fell asleep – several times. I literally had to force myself to finish it so that it didn't end up in my dnf shelf.

Not only was there hardly anything that kept the story going forward or anything resembling an actual plot, the extremely detailed way every little thing was explained just made this book plain boring, kept you waiting for something to happen (preferably the book ending).

And in the end of the book the author decides to kills some random people off - cause apparently she had too many in her plot… (Hear the irony). That served no purpose whatsoever. I can’t say I was sad to see them go, I didn’t really feel or care about any of the characters, or perhaps maybe Piper, she was actually a nice change, a bit of fresh air.

I believe the author meant to make Dimitri the perfect boyfriend, but she truly failed. I mean her parents suddenly and tragically dies in a car accident. His girlfriend gets, understandably upset. But it evolves to a full out depression, where she barely exists, and he lets it happen, he enables her to keep being numb, not caring – for over a year!! Wake up, if you know someone that depressed that person needs professional help to deal with the loss, not pitying and coddling. He (they) have lived through this countless times before, he knows the signs but doesn’t help her until she is on the verge of suicide?
- Sorry, but that is not even close to a perfect, or even good boyfriend (or any kind of friend/family really)

And the author also failed to portray Veronica in the way I believe she meant to. She was supposed to be this good girl that get good grades and helps everybody, asked or not.
Honestly? I found her to be incredibly selfish, spineless and boring – harsh but true.

The only good thing with this book was that it finally ended.

I average about 3 books a week...I will rate them, but I don't leave reviews on all of them. When I come across a book that stays with me long after I have finished it, I make sure to post a review and search out the author. Kim Holden...GAH!!! I've been singing her praises for a solid week now...stalking her on social media...pimping Bright Side out to anyone who will listen. Now I am going to continue my assault on her awesomeness with All of It. Started and had to finish Veronica & Dimitri's story in one day...It. Was. That. Good. Such a beautiful story...the way Kim writes is soul grabbing and you are left with no choice but to absorb every single word! I don't know how she does it...but I am SO glad that she does, and I hope and pray that she continues for many, many, many years to come. I've said it before, and I'll say it again...Kim, YOU ARE A ROCK STAR!!!!

I read All of It by Kim Holden solely based on author recognition. I heard great things about her latest book, so I picked this up having no idea what to expect and not reading the synopsis. I must admit that the beginning was EXTREMELY intriguing. I could not figure out what was happening. Strangely, Dimitri, the MC, reminded me of Edward from Twilight. I know, strange. I thought maybe it was Twilight fanfic <- I don't want to spoil it, but I was wrong ;)

In any case, Dimitri is the new boy in school. As a member of the Honor Society, Veronica is assigned to walk him around for the first few days to get him acquainted with the school. He comes off as quite strange because he already knows his schedule and his way around the school, even though he's the new kid. He claims he has a good memory but you can tell that something else is going on. On top of that, he calls Veronica by a nickname that no one but her parents call her, and she has a dream about him one night that is FASCINATING! She actually has several dreams about him throughout the book, but the first one blew me away. I was completely hooked at that point because I had to know where Dimitri came from and how he had this connection with Veronica.

Dimitri and Veronica soon become inseparable and are in a relationship for quite some time. Veronica lives in a lower middle class town, but her family is comfortable and she has a very close relationship with her parents. Dimitri has moved to town with his mother and brother. They are extremely wealthy. Even with this class difference, they are both accepted into each others homes as if they are family. Everything just seems too good to be true. The relationship is so easy.

Eventually Veronica feels the pressures of having to decide on her future. She feels like she's ignored her friends for too long to be with Dimitri, she still hasn't picked out a college, etc. This is only the beginning of the turmoil that they experience in their relationship. A horrific tragedy is the breaking point for Veronica and she falls into a very long depression. I'll admit that although I didn't cry, it was fucking depressing for quite awhile in the book. I was looking for the intrigue that I felt in the beginning, but the story sort of went in a different direction.

The relationship between Dimitri and Veronica is not short lived...it is epic! Yes, we finally do find out the mystery behind Dimitri and Veronica, but not until the very, very, end. I only wish that more "easter eggs" could have been sprinkled throughout the story, instead of a little bit in the beginning and then wham, bam, everything at the very end. With that said, All of It is a wonderful, yet mysterious, love story that I definitely recommend!

OMG. This book. I need to process for a moment.

Review to come

Kim Holden knows how to write an epic story. I read Bright Side and that book devastated me but yet also quickly became my favorite book EVER. So of course I have to read every book she's written which brought me to All Of It.

All of It was exactly what I expected. Beautiful, a tear-jerker and just an all around fantastic read. Kim's writing grabs you by the heart and makes you fall hard for her characters. This one had more mystery than Bright Side. I was left wondering what I was missing until the end, and that ending was not what I expected at all. It's been months since I read All Of It and I'm still left reeling!

I'll be a Kim Holden fan for life. Keep those books coming and I'll keep buying!

It was a wonderful read till %47. And the writer decided to add some teenage drama... Puffff. The plot was oh sooo unique and when I first read the first 2 chapters I was definetly hooked. I felt their chemistry although they were 16. Their sudden love didn't disturb me at all because I knew sth gonna happen and every question in the readers mind will be answered in the end.
I knew what was going on from the begining, thanks to my gr bestie:)) Dilek, who loves reading more than necessary reviews!!!! But even if I dived in this book blind, there were hints here and there for the reader to understand or guess...because of these reasons Im not gonna rate this book. But I should admit that I liked those dreams of Veronica about her past and Dimitri's conversations with veronica which contains hints and some spoilers :)))

*'dont be silly. Besides this is for me too. I've never been able to buy you a ring from a store like this. Let me be selfish just this once.'
*I've never dated anyone else but u.'
And there were those Sebastian hints:)
'I know you both break up for nothing. U always do the same' :)
I wish I could say that I love the rest of the book as I loved these dream and hint parts. 2nd half of the book was just so lame an unnecessary.
Except those teenage drama and 3 deaths there were not much twists in this book. :)
I loved and adored dimitry and in some parts I wished him luck finding another soulmate other than veronica. Because she was an immature kid. Yeah yeah I know she was just 16 but whatever.
I try not to give spoilers and yeah at the end u will have all the answers of your questions. But just in 2-3 pages and when veronica was in a hopeless sittuation.
I liked that epilogue though it was predictable but convincing and sweet.

I hated Bright Side and I know I was in the minority with that book, but I liked Kim Holden writing style so I wanted to give ALL OF IT a chance.

This one is hard to rate. Great premise. I liked the whole idea of it, but sometimes the heroine drove me nuts. I understand she was a perfectionist, but I think she was crazy. Her reasons for doing some of the things made it hard for me to empathize with her. At first I liked her, but then I could not understand why D wanted her time and time again - literally. I ended up skimming a lot in the middle because I did not trust her. She was all over the place. A bit selfish and immature now that I think about it. It was always about her. She would use the excuse that she could not divide her time fairly, but I think her friends had their own lives and when they said "we don't see you anymore - we miss you" they were saying it to be nice. She 18 years old and a senior in high school and had an amazing boyfriend these friends have their own lives, they did not need the heroine all the time. She was making excuses and it got old and I got annoyed.

I do love stories about soulmates, but hard for me to connect when I frustrated and annoyed with the heroine 80% of the time.

I just need a minute to wipe the tears off my glasses.

Done.

I knew this book would make me cry because Kim Holden is a sadistic bitch. She gets off on other people's pain and snot. It's fine, I already forgive her.

I think I love Dimitri Glen. I love that he is devoted, talented, loyal, loving, he loves Paris, he's tall and skinny - totally my thing. Add Converse and jeans and I am getting ready to fight Ronnie for him. But their love is true love. Perfect love. Enduring love.

Woven into the story are clues. You have to find them. Knowing glances. Passing comments. Little smiles. I didn't guess. Never expected it.

All Of It is not a sexy steamy read. In my humble opinion, it didn't need it. What it is though, is a tale of two people who are destined to be together and no matter what shit life throws at them, love will conquer. This is an amazing young adult read.

I make no excuse for the number of quotes that will follow or the fact that I won't use speech marks. I am the grammar police usually so I allow myself the day off.

**ARC provided in exchange for an honest review**

All Of It is my first book by Kim Holden and oh it was such a sweet, sweet read. I really enjoyed every page of it.

“Life is sometimes…destined.”
1This book tells the story of Veronica Smith, her good and seemingly perfect life. She's worked her whole life to do everything right, so she can get in the best school she can and have the life she wants. She's a kind person, who loves to help those she love and then some. Her life is pretty simple. She has two wonderful parents who love her deeply. She has amazing friends: a best friend who protects and looks after her every single day, a friend who will say anything that comes to her mind without filtering it, and a shy but really smart and sweet friend who'll help her with anything she needs. Her world is pretty simple... until Dimitri Glenn arrives to her school. Now, she has to be her tour guide for two days. The first day starts horrible, lots of awkward moments and not so nice moments. But, as the day goes one, things start to change. With Dimitri comes a familiarity, something that makes her feel comfortable around him. There's something about him that makes it easy to talk to. But there's something behind the sweet, and passionate, and reliable Dimitri.

"Hi, my name's Veronica."
"Hi, I'm Dimitri." His voice is quiet, but confident.

Like I said, I really liked the book. It was sweet, it was heartfelt, and it was a fast read. The story itself was well paced, it was easy to read and easy to get in to. As I kept reading, I had this feeling about what was happening, but I felt the explanation came a bit too late. I understood the story perfectly when it came, but I thought it could've happened earlier. Don't get me wrong, the book has a lot of things going on (and I say this in the best possible way), that help you get to know and understand the characters and their story. Each situation brings something important to the characters' and the story's development. Then, when the explanation comes, you've figured it out and, even though it no longer surprises you, it leaves you thinking: "yep, that's what I thought, it makes sense."

Still... I wish it had come earlier.

The characters were sooooo perfect. Veronica is such a relatable girl. I loved her from the first moment. Even though everyone might think her life is just perfect and everything comes easy for her, she's gotten everything she has thanks to her dedication. And her parents' support. She's as good as it gets. She helps people because she loves to do something for others, she loves making people happy. It doesn't mean she has it easy. She's good, but she's not perfect.

"Life is sometimes... a gift."

Dimitri Glenn. From the first page I got hooked, because Dimitri seemed to be really interesting, and mysterious, and so... lovable. The guy gave me the butterflies from day one. There was something about him that made you fall for him pretty quickly. Even though the book is entirely from Veronica's POV, you can feel and see how much he cares about her. His feelings for her are always there, never doubting. His mind and heart are set on having Veronica in his life, and he'll do everything and be anything she wants and needs. He's not just a boyfriend, he's her friend too, her confidant. He's her rock when she needs to be strong, he stays away when she needs her space. He's the kind of guy that's forever devoted to the girl he loves. I just loved him.

“Life is sometimes … finding something to live for.”

This being my first Kim Holden book, well.. I have to say that I loved her writing style. It was so beautiful and there were a few things that stuck with me, like the end of each chapter.

"Memories are more meaningful and powerful than you can imagine."
A fascinating Young Adult novel with touches of "deja vu"... about meeting a handsome young boy who is perfect in every way possible that he doesn't seem real... there is something much more going on... or rather something much more "went" on. Everything seems to be happening for a reason, for in this story there are NO coincidences! 4.5 Chilling Stars for two people who were meant to be together for ever and ever... past, present, future.

I'm a huge Kim Holden fan, but this wasn't in the same ballpark as Bright Side or Gus. I found the story dragged on at times, and some of the characters just too good to be true. The best part of this story was the end - it caught me completely off guard, and had me in tears. Be warned, you'll need tissues close by at the end of this book.

Every story that I have read by Ms Holden has been a great read for me and this one is included. 'All of It' is a story of boy meets girl, both have feelings for each other. They go through good and bad times but ultimately come out the other side. But, there is a strange twist to their relationship. That part I will keep to myself and just say READ IT!

This was a wonderful story of destiny, life, loss and most of all love. The one remark I want to make is the flow of this story, it fluctuated a little too much for my liking. One moment I couldn't stop reading and the next I almost (stressing the almost) lost interest.
But I'm curious to read more of this author.

This book was a bit of a struggle for me. There were a couple times I just didn’t want to keep reading this story. It was so frustrating then boring then the story jumped away from what it was into something totally different and I was worried the author dropped the single thing that made me want to keep reading this book for a sad plot twist. The last few chapters gave this book redemption.

DNF @ 9%. Veronica was too judgmental and immature for me to like her. After figuring out what the big reveal at the end would be, and after reading a couple of reviews stating there's unnecessary drama ahead I decided to call it quits.

I usually do not care for these sort of love stories. But this one really held my interest. I feel like people who like Colleen Hoover would really like this author.
