A Dana Sweet Cozy Mystery Strawberry Cream Cupcake & Murder (Book 1) Blueberry Cream Cupcake & Murder (Book 2) Chocolate Cream Cupcake & Murder (Book 3)
This could have used better editing to be up to snuff for an adult cosy. I would actually classify it as a little bit more on the lines of Sweet Valley High in reading level. With only a little bit of work, it would actually make a great book for that range! Knowing that going in, I would likely enjoy it more. There's a lot of promise here, but it just didn't live up to my other favorite baker cosy series out there when it could easily have joined their ranks. Mrs. Marie, keep working because I think this really does have potential.
Sorry but this short story is in bad need of editing and proof reading. Sentences have extra or missing words, poor structure and are choppy. I felt I was reading something written by a teenager who was bored with English classes. That being said I hope the author does not give up writing as the story idea is good, it just needs work.
I read all 3 cosy mysteries in the Cupcake & Murder Collection by Ann S. Marie. They sounded fun to read. Reading the three books in this collection was anything but fun. Try unbelievablity, poor grammar, incomplete sentences. These 3 books read like a young teenager wrote them, one who flunked the basic English courses in elementary school.
I do want to say, out of all 3 books, Chocolate Cream Cupcake and Murder was more interesting to read. There was a bit of substance to the story, unlike the first 2 books. (However, Ms. Marie didn't include a recipe for the Chocolate Cream Cupcake, like she did for the Strawberry Cream & Blueberry cupcakes.🙁 I was looking forward to the recipe for a chocolate cream cupcake!)
I will definitely ot read any more of Ann S. Marie's books about cupcakes & murder (if she has written any more). I MIGHT read another of Ms. Marie's, if there are any other books.
This is the first of her books I’ve read. Actually, I’m listening to the audiobook version. The cover looked interesting and the story was short, so I thought I’d try it! I wasn’t far in before I wanted more info! First, Gertie Sue does not sound Canadian! Not her name for sure, and she sounds rather southern. No info as to who the author really is. And she tries to include both Canada and the U.S. in her book. She should stick to one or the other! The story is alright. Very light and needs editing! It’s not terrible, just confusing!
I found there was a serious lack of editing for the first three Dana Sweet books. However, I kept reading them! The first one was so much fun, with really engaging characters and a compelling story that I ignored the grammar issues and didn't stop. I will read more by this author and will hope that she can improve her editing skills or hire a professional editor, since the books appear to be self-published.
I purchased all three & read all 3 so will be reviewing all 3 the same. Cupcake & Murder Boxed Set (Dana Sweet Cozy Mysteries Books 1-3) I did enjoy reading about Dana and her relatives. I think she is cute and like reading how she & her cat Truffles solves the murders. I don't know if I will be purchasing the rest but we will see. I may miss Dana & Truffles and her family enough to read more. I do love to have BOXED SETS of books!
Love this series! Kindle version has some type errors, but not something I'd complain about myself. But I absolutely love this series! They are fast, and I love the fact they are not drawn out longer than they need to be. Something so far 16+ age kids could read in my opinion. Love how their is a pet involved!
There were improvements in this book as far as the story/writing goes, but I still felt (similarly to the first two) that the whodunnit was wrapped up a bit too quickly/neatly.
Oh, and since this is an audiobook, why are there so many characters showing up with "southern" accents. This takes place in Ontario, Canada, not Georgia or somesuch.
This is a fun, entertaining cozy mystery. I enjoyed where this story went for both the main character and the mystery. My attention was captured from the start and held until the very end. I enjoyed being back in this work and spending time with our amateur sleuth.
These books are perfect for a reading break between suspenseful books. They are an enjoyable read and I liked them, I would recommend them for fun reading!
They are a delight. It is a real cozy... A murder and an amateur detective helping the police.and the police are not happy with her detecting. And of course a very hot detective.
Dana Sweet inherited her cafe from her Grandmother. After some changes it's named Cozy Cupcake Cafe, in the small town of Berry Cove. She has Inga, baker, Katie, chef & cousin & Lizzy, barista working with her. The cafe is hired to serve pastries & Chocolate Cream Cupcakes, eaten with a spoon. Master Renaldo requested it for his engagement party. He's 80 & Goldie is 40. His three grown children & butler & Lady of the household. They don't care for him. Dana is delivering trays of cupcakes, trips & falls face first into the cupcakes. She tripped over the dead Master Renaldo. Detective Troy Anders is assigned to the case. He & Dane have known each for a while. They feel attracted to each but aren't ready for a relationship. There are so many suspects. Troy doesn't mind if Dana gives him clues as long as she stays safe. How will this case be solved & will Dana & Troy become closer. It's a good Cozy Mystery to read.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It made a murder mystery fun. It was light and well written. It kept me involved through the whole book. If you like Cozy Mysteries, this is a must for you to read. I love cooking and so I really enjoyed the desert ideas and recipes that were thrown in for an added benefit.
what a cosy little mystery, It has it all, cupcakes, a disgruntled family, a bride to be, a jilted lover and a very good mystery, so grab a cup of tea and lose yourself for a couple hours.
