Cursed to love and lose, Boone loathes his existence. He is immortal, and his wife is destined to be reborn over and over again, which means he is destined to lose her over and over again. But no matter his agony at her death, he can’t help but to love her each time she’s born. But this time, the seventh rebirth, she begins to remember him. Could this mean something is changing? Could his curse finally be coming to an end?
With the possibility of change, of ending his agony, he becomes torn ~ what if she continues to be reborn and he’s no longer there to love her? No one would ever love her the way he did. No one.
Faced with this new possibility, Boone isn’t sure what he wants to happen, but he may have no choice in the matter. His wife isn’t the same as all the other times. She’s different, and the end may be in her hands.
Boone is cursed with immortality and a heartbreaking twist, he’s destined to fall in love with the same woman lifetime after lifetime. For over 400 years, Felicity has been reborn, and every time, Boone finds her and loves her with everything he has. Now, on her seventh life, something feels different. Strange things begin to happen, and the love story that once felt certain suddenly feels like it’s unraveling. This is a story of epic love, loss, fate, and holding on even when everything starts to slip away.
This one absolutely pulled me in from the start. I didn’t even want to finish it because I wasn’t ready to let go of these characters, but of course I had to see how it all ended. And wow. What a journey.
Boone and Felicity’s love story is the kind that stays with you. It’s beautiful, heartbreaking, and a little bit magical. Imagine loving someone across centuries and never truly getting to keep them. That’s what Boone faces, loving Felicity over and over again, watching her live and die, hoping each time that maybe this life will be different.
On Felicity’s seventh life, things start to shift. I loved how the tension built slowly, with little moments that made me question everything. There were so many “wait, what?” moments that caught me off guard in the best way. It’s not just a romance. It’s a haunting romantasy with a twist of fate, destiny, and longing.
Honestly, the writing had me completely hooked. I felt everything. The ache. The passion. The desperation to change what feels inevitable. I devoured this book late into the night because sleep could wait. Boone and Felicity’s story was all I could think about.
If you're in the mood for something emotional, unexpected, and just a little bit magical, this is the one.
The Vibes It Brings: 💔 Reincarnation love story ⏳ Soulmates through time 🪄 Romantic fantasy with a twist 😢 Beautiful emotional angst 💥 Surprises that hit you out of nowhere 🌙 Late-night binge-worthy 🫶 A love that feels eternal
Logan Anare and Lexi Evans did such an amazing job bringing these characters to life. Logan’s tone and cadence were absolutely perfect... like, chef’s kiss level. He brought so much emotion into Boone’s character that I actually felt his pain and longing. Lexi's narration gave so much strength and vulnerability at the same time. Their voices blended so well together and made the entire story even more immersive.
The End of Forever is one of those reads that leaves a little mark on your heart. It’s romantic, tragic, and totally unforgettable. Boone and Felicity’s story is filled with love, longing, and a whole lot of emotion. If you’re a fan of soulmates, second (and third... and fourth...) chances, or emotionally rich romantasy, this one’s worth diving into.
This was an awesome book! The characters were likable and the story was captivating. I loved Felicity's relationship with Boone, I hope maybe a book 2 ?
Don't start reading before bed, because you'll be up all night! Introduction set up the entire story well. You understood what was going on with Boone. Then we move to modern day and the story begins to unfold. There are hints to other parts of the story that just keep you guessing and wanting more. The build up was amazing and I would finish a chapter with "just one more" finding myself reading longer then I really should have. The ending was great! I was scared, knowing it could go so many ways, but she did the right thing with the characters (even if I hated it a little- it was necessary and the best choice in my opinion). Great read! Add this to your TBR!
An emotional roller-coaster for me! In such a good and fantastic way! I absolutely love the way it was written. This is the third book I have read by her that has been utterly fantastic. This had me in tears, bawling my eyes out at points in this book, I mean, I ugly cried. It tugged on every heartstrings I had. I was so made at the ending not because it was not good but because I felt the pain that she would now feel in place of him. Wonderful book! Just have a whole box of tissues or maybe a bucket to cry in 🤣 cause that's what I needed! Amazing author and another amazing book! Thank you, M.C Stokes, for letting me read it ❤️
Wow! This book started off a little slow, but quickly picked up and dragged me into the story. I couldn't stop listening. Boone is the perfect man - he's had over 400 years to perfect himself after being cursed by a witch. Felicity is his reincarnated wife for the seventh time. Boone always finds her. Once Felicity realizes that they have been husband and wife six previous times - never mind. No spoilers!
Narration was great. Logan Anare did a phenomenal job as Boone.
This story captivated me from the very start. I adored Boone and Felicity and the chemistry between them was incredible. This deeply woven romantic plot was heart wrenchingly beautiful. I cried and rooted for them and was on edge form the hook to the exciting ending. What an ending! I absolutely loved what the author did there. A must read!
Holy sh*t! Just read it. I need more of this story, to find out what more there is it to. The plot and execution is amazing and the love in these pages is unmatched! Had me ignoring chores to find out what happened next and I am not disappointed! Well done Ms. Stokes, well done. Been a long time since I read a book so attentively.
What an amazing story where love extends through time and time again. I fell in love with the characters and laughed when they laughed and dang near cried when they cried. This is a slow burn with a satisfying ending that leaves you wanting more. Can’t wait to read more from this author.
Two things to note. I received a free manuscript copy in exchange for a review. And this book does contain suicide and pregnancy. The book was very cute and I did enjoy it. It was a fun read. Chapter 27 was missing and the book ended on the words “I winked” but that’s probably due to it being a manuscript copy. I will say I didn’t expect the ending. Also, Boone was so cute.
I loved this book and have proven definitively that I am no romantic by the standards of Felicity and Boone. This story is well told and has a great dramatic sub-plot playing out in the background.
First I was excited to see the second chapter had Arkansas in it. “Go Hogs lol.” But really this book was amazingly written. It was so good I couldn’t put it down. Poor Boone. Then Poor felicity. Do we get more of hers and new Boones story!
What could be better than a love story? M.C. Stokes combines magic, romance and mystery to create a beautiful story of finding one's perfect soul mate. Again. The End of Forever is magical!
I read this book in less than 48 hours! It was great start to finish. The characters were relatable and the story was captivating. A great romance throughout. Highly recommend!
The love story that goes on forever, Boone's love for his wife is truly something. Finding her in every lifetime, only to love and lose her all over again. This time is something they never experienced before and WOW!!! I couldn't wait to see how their story unfolded!
I loved this. I had put it down and kind of took a break from reading but when I came back I finished it in one setting! The story is beautiful, I’m obsessed with Boone and his love. I seriously need more of these two!!
This was such a good read. Boone and Felicity’s romance was so cute and filled with love and adoration. But I was not expecting that ending. I cried. I had an “are you serious?!” moment. It was well written. I’m looking forward to more from her!
I absolutely adored this book. It gripped me from the start and I just had to see how it all panned out. I wasn't disappointed, even though (or maybe because) I didn't see the ending coming. I was rooting for these two ill-fated lovebirds. I'll definitely be checking out more books by this talented author.
Exhilarating, Evocative, Gripping Genre: Contemporary Fiction/Historical Fiction/Fantasy/Romance 'The End Of Forever' By C.M Stokes 💔 Boone sat waiting for her as he had done so many times before. The end was always so hard, and the time waiting for her always felt endless. But seeing her again, falling in love all over again, knowing that she felt the same, however long it took and then having their own family, made it all worthwhile. Each time was different and he had never yet mustered the courage to tell her the truth. If only he'd kept on walking and not stopped for that wretched, ailing young man. He could have had lived an ordinary life with Isabella by his side until the end. The end was something that he had come to long for and everytime, he hoped that she might recall past events & that the spell would be broken. But for now, he had to be content with making the most of what time they had together. Forty years of being loved by the most beautiful woman he had ever known...the only woman he had ever known. Forty years of grief & despair, knowing that he was destined to repeat it all again, trapped in this eternal loop.... I met the Author on a Facebook page for Writers and Authors. ✍ We are both very interactive on the site & got talking. She asked me to read a manuscript 💻 which I of course gladly agreed to do & it was around this time that 'The End Of Forever' 💔 came to my attention. I learnt that she wrote Romantic Fiction. Now I've read Fiction with romance but never a romantic novel. When I have attempted it, the books have usually been over the top or corny. Well, I'd clearly been choosing the the wrong novels because M.C Stokes definitely knows how to create an extremely entertaining, passionate, & though provoking romantic plot with the most inspired narrative behind it. I don't normally take to imaginitive, Fantastical storylines, but because this element worked so well alongside the Contemporary theme, it was easy to mentally inhabit Felicity & Boone's world. I felt frustration when Felicity took time to decide whether she should be with Boone, his patient disappointment was tangible & I was willing him to tell her the truth. When Flo suspects what the reader already knows, I so badly wanted Flo to share her thoughts with her Granddaughter, but she obviously felt that it wasn't her place. When Felicity finally unlocked 🔓 her past with Boone, I felt so relieved that they were on the same page at last. The two leading characters are so right for each other, both spiritually & very clearly physically. Those scenes were mind blowing! It is a lovely little touch to Felicity's character that she has hidden abilities that Boone isn't aware of (not connected to the previously aforementioned scenes! Lol) She so desperately wants to give Boone an ordinary existence when she finds out the extent of his agonising eternal sentence to which he has been condemned, and the way in which it plays out, is both utterly heartbreaking & overwhelmingly, passionately powerful when you realise the full extent of the sacrifice that she is willing to go to for the love of her life whom she adores. At the end of the last chapter, I genuinely let out a breath that I hadn't realised that I was holding and shed a tear...well, quite a few actually. I felt utterly exhausted & a bit broken. I'm not sure other than one other book that comes to mind, a novel has ever had that effect. 'The End Of Forever', is one of the few books I've read, that I've managed to get so completely lost in that my world becomes a blur. I confess that I am now a little bit in love with Boone & possibly Felicity, and this may last sometime. Primarily, I think that this novel is one for the girls, but having described the storyline and waxed lyrical so enthusiastically about it for the last four days, my partner now wants to read it. So, I will be getting it in hard copy for this purpose (I read it on KU), but also because I can see me reading this again. I cannot recommend this enough! A sequel please!! ❤ 'As Clean As A Whistle': The phrase originates in the work of Scotland's national poet, Robert Burns. In his 1786 poem, 'The Author's Ernest Cry And Prayer', he wrote 'her muchkin stowp as tooms a whissle'. Translated into modern English dialect, it means that the protagonist's bucket is as empty as a whistle'. 🪣
My heart is broken. WOW! One fateful encounter leads to an eternity of love and loss. I can't write too much or I'll just break down and have a ton of spoilers. If you want a TRUE LOVE STORY!!! Pick this up. To love someone so much to endure through eternity. Yep you want to cry read this. You want to believe in love, read this. You want to have the author rip your heart out and laugh, then give it back at the end with a smile! THANK YOU VERY MUCH YES! This might be on my very small eventual reread pile. Thank you Stokes, this was an amazing addition to my month of indie romance.
The story opens in the 1600s with a young man named Boone having the misfortune to stumble upon a man dying of the plague in the darkened streets of London. The stranger begs Boone for one final act of mercy, but in granting this request, Boone unwittingly brings the wrath of an angry witch upon himself. Cursed with immortality and unable to age, Boone is destined to find true love time and again with his reincarnated soulmate, only to lose her and the family they’ve created once she reaches her sixty-fourth year. Forty or so years of joyful bliss seem to pass in a flash while the heartache and despair Boone feels as he waits for his true love to be reborn worsens with each passing lifetime. Fast forward to the present, and Boone has once again found his true love reborn in Felicity—but things are different this time. For the first time, Felicity seems to actually remember fragments from her past lives and their time together. Could this possibly signify the end of the curse?
Romance is not a genre I usually read, so I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this book. The back-and-forth of will-they/won’t they generally tries my patience after just a few convenient contrivances, but that isn’t what we have here. This is literally a timeless story in which true love is destined to manifest time after time, only to leave one half of the couple broken and empty for more years than he’ll ever find fulfillment. Stokes’ characters feel real as Boone tries to fast track his and Felicity’s relationship without scaring Felicity off. But in this lifetime, Felicity has a few unexpected secrets of her own, which might help find a way to break the curse Boone has suffered under for centuries. But is breaking the curse what both of them truly want?
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The 1600s opening chapter, short though it was, was a nice throwback to the successful way that both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel used flashbacks to give us necessary information for Angelus and Spike. The modern-day love story was unpredictable enough to keep things moving along between Boone and Felicity’s multiple trysts. While not exactly a prude, I do feel the tips of my ears burn when reading explicit material, and while tastefully rendered, there was no shortage of that here, just FYI. In fact, three days after finishing the book, my ears are still a little hot to the touch. The ending, while a variation on a foregone conclusion, still managed to be both surprising and satisfying.
I discovered this book on Facebook just as I was looking for a time travel love story. Since I didn't want to read "Lady of Hay" for the hundredth time, "The end of forever" came just in time.
What I really like about it is how quickly you get into the story. As a reader, I was immediately in the middle of it, without having to puzzle over what it was all about. The author cleverly inserted the setting and background, there was no trace of info dump, which I find remarkable, especially in a time travel story.
I also liked the intensity with which this uncompromising love is told. There was no maybe, maybe not, but I had the feeling on every page that these two - Boone and Felicity - are destined for each other, which thrilled my romantic heart! If you are now wondering how, with all this (the quick start and the lack of doubt about love), an exciting story is supposed to come about, I can reassure you. There is enough happening to make me fly through the book as a reader.
My absolute favourite part of the book is the twist at the end. My goodness! Sad, happy, touched - all wrapped up in an ending that gives the title yet another deeper meaning.
There are two things that made me hesitate about the five star rating. One was the language whenever there was narration. The dialogue is great and feels lively, but away from the dialogue, the sentence structure is so repetitive that it took me out of the story at times. On a six-paragraph page, five paragraphs started with "She did / She looked / She had / She loved" etc. For me personally, there could have been a little less explanation about the feelings of the two protagonists; when you describe - as the author actually does - love or fear or happiness in corresponding gestures or physical reactions, I want to interpret these gestures myself.
Conclusion: Romantic, extremely entertaining and simply an emotional reading pleasure.
I really wasn't sure what to expect from this book. It's not my typical genre, and while I don't think this type of story is really my thing, that's not the fault of the author. There were a lot of good things to be found.
The premise - an immortal MC and a few other splashes of magic in an otherwise mundane world - was very interesting and unique. The ending caught me completely off guard but it felt quite fitting; this book sticks the landing in a very memorable way. I appreciate that the characters were given little quirks and foibles that made them well-rounded and relatable. The spicy scenes were well-written, and neither too frequent nor too gratuitous.
There were a few rough edges, and the dialogue felt a little clunky in spots. I found it most noticeable in the first scene, which took place in the past. I would have preferred that the characters speak with more period-appropriate language.
Overall, though, I'm glad I read this, and if contemporary romance with a magical element is your type of book, you should definitely pick it up.
Though romance isn't usually my style, I was pleasantly surprised by The End of Forever. It captured me right from the start! The chemistry felt so real and made me root for both main characters. The flashbacks really enriched the story for me. As Felicity learned about her past, I felt the story unfolded beautifully with each setback. I also loved the tidbits about Felicity's family in the present, just as the reader learned about her family in the past. To sum it up, The End of Forever was a beautiful book that made me tear up at least once. I'd definitely recommend it for anyone interested in this genre and even those that don't normally read the genre. It's definitely 5 of 5 stars!
