Sisters should love each other, not covet each other's husband.
Lexi Dahl wants to smooth over issues with her husband, Derick, during a weekend vacation, but a blissful night of making up turns to disaster when Lexi wakes and life is upside down. Derick thinks he's married to her sister, Abby, and Lexi's poor girls somehow believe Abby is their mother. At least her brother-in-law Ben knows he's Abby's real husband.
While Lexi and Ben sort out the marriage mix-up, evidence points to the impossible-a spell was cast. Even though Ben is sick of Abby's lies and can move on with his life, he helps Lexi patch up hers. She's determined to break the spell, but as secrets unfold and she and Ben draw closer, Lexi's heart is divided between her old life and new possibilities-because finding her true self and true love could be just a botched spell away.
Lisa Rector is a Maryland native and could never imagine living anywhere else. She married her high school sweetheart for time and all eternity in the Washington D.C. But Lexi and her sister’s husband, Ben, know the truth. They suspect they’ve been poisoned or someone cast a spell on them. Thankfully, they have each other to keep them sane while they try to sort things out. In any Paranormal Romance story, the characters trying to solve the mystery inevitably fall in love. Switching Lives is no exception.
This is no predictable, cheesy, traditional romance, though. Lisa’s writing style is complex and detailed and the character development was well-done. I’ve loved everything I’ve ever read by Lisa Rector. Fabulous author, fabulous book.
I loved Switching Lives, and highly recommend it. -Julie L. Spencer
This novel is a lot of fun. It feels so contemporary, with a little bit of magic being the inciting incident that causes all the chaos. I really love Ben and his personality. But most especially I liked how Lexi still loved ALL her family even when, at times, she was down right cursing them.
I think contemporary romance readers and paranormal fans will enjoy this novel, which is a quick, fun, and flirty read.
This novel is Reader Rated (RR) for ages 16+ for some profanity, non-detailed fade-out sensuality, and implied sex; also contains mild substance use, mild kissing, and mild violence.
Yes, I have the same last name as the author and that is because she is my daughter-in-law. Would I write a good review if I did not like the book? Possibly, but that is not the case here. I really enjoyed this book with it's outside the box story line. The characters were well developed and engaging. Well done, Lisa. By the way, I love the cover.
This was such an interesting, fun, quick read. I loved the characters and their unique situations. Switching Lives captures your attention quickly in the first chapter. What a twist on paranormal romance and witches! Loved it!
This was an interesting read. I got it for free on Amazon and thought it would be different. It was. She wakes up one morning to realize that her life has been switched with her sister’s, but only she and her brother-in-law seem to remember the true past. Even all her paperwork, credit cards, and pictures seem to be from a life she doesn’t remember with Ben. I didn’t like the main character Lexi and the choices that she made.
Trigger warning for infertility and miscarriage. The sex scenes were behind closed doors, but there was also several discussions of cheating on spouse.
The beta/proof reader in me had a hard time getting past the few typos and grammatical errors. There were parts that didn’t make sense to me that needed flushed out more. I think this book has a lot of potential, but it’s just not there yet.
I read this book in one sitting. It was an enjoyable tale, very easy to read and its book that I would have really enjoyed as a teenager. My reading has since moved on to thrillers and suspense so this was a very light read for me. I love the cover, liked the characters and would recommend this to my romance loving friends. I received my copy from a LibraryThing giveaway.
