Seeing Dr. Marcus Hamilton again was an ordeal for Olivia. He had always been the proudest, most self-assured man she'd ever known. That's what made his reaction to his sudden blindness all the more disturbing.
When Olivia tried to help him, he directed every bit of his rage toward her, using every weapon he could think of to cause her pain, too. Yet he was blind to the one weapon that could destroy her--her love for him.
For Marcus didn't even remember the impressionable student nurse he'd had a meaningless fling with years ago.

Hero Dr. Marcus Hamilton (who is 39) and heroine nurse Olivia King (who's 24) meet again, after six years, when Olivia becomes Marcus’s nurse when he is blinded in an accident. (They were starting to become romantically involved six years ago but some lies/events broke them up.) Marcus doesn’t want her there; she thinks he doesn’t remember her. A lot of tension and arguments follow. Marcus was quite harsh at times to Olivia, but under the circumstances, I guess I could understand some of his anger over his blindness. And you could tell, under his anger, he was crazy about Olivia. Olivia was a great heroine, sweet and caring.
Another great read by Carole Mortimer with an interesting storyline.
The story goes that the h was a newbie nurse when she literally runs into the Chief Surgeon when he comes to visit a patient. She is 18, he is 33 and in the process of getting divorced. They start seeing each other, but his 12 year old daughter is a total brat (and really doesn't improve much 6 years later when the story takes place IMO), and his evil mother in law manage to convince her that he is reconciling with his wife. To be fair to the h - she see's them together at the hospital and they are hanging all over each other. She calls the H that night only to be told by the MIL that H and wife are back together and going off together - which they do. MIL then tells H that h wanted out and so a relationship is ended.
The h leaves the hospital and goes into private care nursing where she runs into the obnoxious daughter again but this time the daughter wants her to come help her dad because he was in a bad accident and is now blind, the wife died 3 years earlier. The h reluctantly agrees, and goes to help H and they go back and forth with the daughter rudely enquiring about the h's sleeping habits with her father way more than any kid should.
The H and h finally wind up in bed, but the H had kicked her out the night before and as she is packing to leave, the evil MIL shows up and harangues the h, spilling the beans about the machinations she instituted six years earlier and the H conveniently overhears the whole thing. H kicks the evil MIL out, explains that he was only with ex- wife at the hospital because brat daughter had been seriously injured, he went off with ex-wife with his daughter too as she needed to recuperate and wanted both parents there.
He avows eternal lurve for the h, sex with h cured his blindness and he hasn't been with anyone else since he met the h. So at least this one stayed celibate, (unlike the H in the related book,) and did not sleep with hundreds of women swearing they all reminded him of the h. HEA and all is well in HPlandia once again.
Not a bad story really, just not as intense or angsty as CM can do.

Marcus Hamilton and Olivia King`s love-story were one full of misunderstandings,second-chances, high-loaded passion, raw angst and Everlasting love...
After six years of separation caused by a great misunderstanding, Marcus and Olivia meet again, but this time Marcus is blind after a car accident and Olivia becomes his personal nurse. Their passion and love is still there, burning and igniting and i throughly enjoyed their scenes together. This one certainly is one of my favourites by Carole Mortimer. It is a exciting love-story with fast-paced plot, sizzling romance and charming characters.
Finally, a hero that has to suffer a little bit of uncertainty and no I don’t mean his blindness. So many times one reads these stories and it’s the h who bares all the uncertainty with ow’s being thrown to and fro in front of their faces. This time the H has to be tortured with possible om’s.
Heroine, Olivia : She fell in love with the hero, Marcus when she was 18 and working at the same hospital as him.
Hero: Unfortunately, the hero, a successful surgeon was 33, and estranged from his beautiful wife Ruth. He also had a 12 year old daughter Sally who was not keen on replacing her mother(yep, totally understandable) and wasn’t going to make it easy for her father to move on. To top it off, there was a meddling MIL who seem to spend more time with her soon to be ex son in law then she did with her own daughter. These were barriers to the h and H fulfilling their love affair at the time. Oh, and the fact that it looked like he was reconciling with his wife and ditched the h as soon as said wife was in town.
6 years later….the heroine is now 24 working as a private nurse. While he attending a pool party with her current patient and his girlfriend she is approached by an 18 year old Sally who is all sweet and friendly. The h really doesn’t want to associate with the young woman, because she is still smarting from her love gone wrong episode with the girl’s father 6 years earlier. Later that evening she gets a phone call from a distraught Sally. Her father is in hospital. He may not make it. Her mom had died 3 years earlier and she needs the h for support. The MIL is near by but is overcome. Our h goes and now our story begins….
Overall, an enjoyable read. I think the Hero got a good dose of angst in this one. The H’s anger in this story was much more realistic then in other stories I have read. Sudden blindness would be traumatic to anyone, but for a renowned surgeon it is tragic. Now for some reason this book is connected to Trust Summer Madness on goodreads. However, the only thing they have in common is that the heroine in this book shares the same last name as the hero in TSM. I read these 2 stories back to back and this has the romance the TSM book lacks. It has angst but is not the crazy train TSM is. So if you hated the dramedy of TSM you may actually like this one. The most implausible thing about this story is the h thinking the H wouldn’t remember her. IT was only 6 years ago. He wasn’t suffering memory loss, so I doubt very much he would forget you. Oh, I guess blindness cured by sex with a virgin may be implausible, but then again maybe we just don’t understand the mystical powers of virginity.
Beautiful even if borders on fantasy... The heroine is a young nurse and falls in love with the older and charming hero, who's a top surgeon. He's married with a teenage daughter but is separated and is going to divorce his wife. His daughter is a rebel teenager, afraid that her father will remarry a woman who won't want her. They have a tender affair, without sex, because the hero is very respectful of the heroine's innocence, and wants to have his divorce before getting serious. One day the heroine sees the hero with his wife, they seems happy and she thinks she's back with him, but she wants explanations, so she calls him. Unfortunately his mother in law answers and tells the heroine that he's back with his wife and he is tired of her and doesn't want to have her around any more. The hero actually takes a leave and goes away for some time so the heroine leaves her job at the hospital and goes away. Six years later she meets the hero's daughter, who's now more mature and nicer. The heroine is working as a nurse for people who need rehab or recovering. Some weeks later the girl calls her and tells her her father had an accident and is badly injured. The heroine goes to the hospital and consoles the girl. The hero had a broken skull and the surgeons had to remove some fragment of bone from his brain. The hero seems to be ok, but he can't see anymore. When the heroine visits him he's babbling still half-unconscious and she thinks he's still in love with his late wife. Of course we understand that it's not his wife he's babbling about! Weeks later the hero's daughter asks the heroine to help her father to recover: he's depressed and doesn't want to go out of his bedroom. The heroine reluctantly agrees, and the hero seems not remembering her. Ok, this was fantasy. Was he brain damaged? Or if he pretending? Have a guess. There's a lot of interactions that I really liked because the heroine is really a strong and determined young woman, who's still in love with him and he's really nasty with her but you can see that, even if he asks her to leave him repeatedly, he can't live without her. And also he's under a big misunderstanding aaaaand we can guess who was the author... He also thinks she's a slut and she's shagging all the doctors in the hospital, so we understands he's madly jealous, and I think I pitied him because he felt less than a man without his sight, while the heroine seems to have all the men around her falling in love with her. Not very cute for our hero. So, after many misunderstandings, a lot of wannabe oms, a nasty ex mother in law who lives with them, a histerical blindness and a miracle healing due to virginity breaching (and this is really fantasy!), the hero recovers his sight and also listens to hsi dear mil admitting to the heroine she lied about the reconciliation of his daughter with the hero and she also lied to the hero telling him the heroine had called to say she didn't want to see him any more because he was too old, married, and with a daughter. Which is exactly what I thought when I read this book. Why CM has always heroes so much older than the heroine? And there's also a scene- very hilarious -when the hero asks the heroine to comfort him, so he goes to sleep in her bed and almost immediately falls asleep, while the young and very awake heroine , with her hormones going crazy, is lusting after him and would like to shag him to death, and can't sleep because she's too excited and frustrated. I think that this is exactly what will happen to the poor woman when she will marry the over 40 yo hero, who will not be able to keep up with his young wife's desires! This was the first time that it's the heroine lusting after the hero while he falls asleep! Bad, bad CM! The book was really simple and both characters are in love since the beginning, the hero has also been celibate and so has the heroine, because they really are in love, and even the BM is believable. A lil less believable were the part where the hero pretends not to recognize even her name, or the miracle healing due to the magic power of the hymene! Anyway I loved the book and enjoyed it vey much.
"Everlasting Love" is the story of Olivia and Marcus. When nurse Olivia met Marcus years ago, she instantly fell for the charming surgeon, only for him to dump her for his ex wife and petulent child Sally. She now works as a private nurse, when a grown up Sally informs her of Marcus's accident- something that has left him blind and despondent. When Olivia meets him again, he doesnt seem to remember her- but she does rile his temper- something that leads to her getting hired as his nurse again! How she brings a depressed *cough* self pitying man out of his misery, while showering him with her one sided, un-ending love is the story. Uh..This was a messed up tale filled with drama. The hero seemed hung up on his ex and throughout the book-and was filled with accusations. The h was just a lovestruck wuss. I did like Sally's redemption arc, but the crazy MIL threats & tantrums and OM jealousy were too OTT. If you like hymen-restoring-eyesight-magic ridic tale, this one is for you. Shockingly..safe. 2.5/5
This was moving story and another favourite of mine my Carole Mortimer! So tragic that they were separated by lies for 6 years and when it finally sinked in he was aware of her and didn’t forget from very beginning it was so sad but happy with ending! Definite reread!

Nice one! Though I was annoyed by the ridiculousness dat Marcus did not recognize Olivia! I was not fooled for one moment! The heroine must have been greatly insecure to believe dat grotesque lie! It was obvious they had fallen for each other at 1st sight and were totally into each other. However, they let Sybil spoil things for them, which cud have been so easily avoided if only they had talked or communicated as adults. Nonetheless, things are never simple in human relationships.

This review is from: Everlasting Love (Paperback) MY THOUGHTS: Everlasting love is truly a sweet romance novel. As usual, my only complaint is that I wished the happy ending was a little longer or there was an epilogue. The basic gist of the story is when Olivia was 18, she has a love affair, or should I say a just starting love affair, with the 33 year old Chief of Surgeon, Marcus. Unfortunately, Marcus is currently separated from his wife and has a 12 year old daughter, Sally. Coupled with a meddling mother in law, you know that young Olivia encounters misunderstanding, torment and uncertainties and broken heart. Fast forward six years later and she meets Sally again and is once again back in their lives when Marcus gets into an accident and is pronounced blind. Olivia becomes his private nurse due to Sally's insistence that only Olivia can bring back the old Marcus. Of course, we know that Oliva also still loves Marcus thats why she agrees, haha. So throughout the book, the proud Marcus battles with Olivia daily and Olivia is under the impression that Marcus doesn't remember her - aka that she was just a fling/meant so little to him - little does she know!!! Anyhoo.. I thought this book was really sweet because we found out later that the hero was TRULY in love with the heroine. He never had another woman after first meeting the heroine! Wow!! 6 years of celibacy ~_~ We already know our heroine is in love with the hero and of course she never had another man and was in fact still a virgin - of course, Marcus relieves her of that, hahaha... And its so sweet how Olivia really does her best to help Marcus, try to heal him and everything despite all the cruel barbs Marcus throws at her. My only complaint is that the ending was too fast. All the explanations & reveals happened at the end of the book, then boom it was done. It was almost like, wham, bam, thank you maaam... I wish they put an epilogue =( But despite the rushed ending, it is still a keeper.
The heroine in flash back (18) is really sweet and the hero (33 then) is unreasonable (his wife left him 6 months before he met her and he has 12 year old daughter and his mother in law living with him) and seems only in lust as he tries to persuade her into a sexual relationship after a few days/weeks together. Fast forward 6 years (after the MIL managed to break them up) and efficient nurse is a less attractive character who sexually touches her patient whilst asleep, faints when misunderstanding news of his blindness, is frustrated and swaps between being assertive and REALLY drippy. The hero languishes in his room, then gets angry and bitter, jealous and tired and yes, rather dull as well. Just because he is a surgeon, it doesn't make him an attractive person. I didn't care for either characters, but the hero's daughter when she grew up was cute trying to get the nicer doctor to like her.

I think I would have liked this if it hadn't been for the H having a daughter only six years younger than the h, it just emphasized their age difference too much. Without the 18-year-old former child brat (12 when the H and h first met), the H being 39 and the h 24 wouldn't have seemed so bad.
And I don't mind misunderstandings (and in this case, very understandable) that keep the couple apart, six years is stretching it. Five is usually my limit, and even that's stretching it. I prefer two or three at the most.
I enjoyed the book more than I thought I would. The interactions between the main characters were interesting. He was a bit verbally abusive, and while she was too soft at times she held her own. Will definitely read again.
I love old-school Carole Mortimer books! This was a good one.
These books are great when you want a quick, easy read. I like to read them when I need to go to bed because I have to work the next day...so I don't stay up too long reading, LOL.
Usually the grovel/makeup part is the best in these type of romances but for some reason, this one just made me cringe and roll my eyes through out. Bleh.
"Hysterical blindness cured by sex with a virgin. Check." Loved StMargarets review! This was a really good story! The usual OTT tropes of HQ but delightfully written.
Olivia (student nurse) and Marcus (doctor) had a brief relationship when she was 18. She thought he had reconciled with his wife and left the area. 6 years later he is blinded in an accident and she is his nurse.
