The infected President of the US has been sending out messages for the Klowns to converge on High Point Special Facility aka the Alamo where the government is hunkered down. After retreating from Philly, Lt. Colonel Lee, the remaining military forces and civilian survivors arrive to find the Klowns have infected many more underground. Lee and the others secure the fort then send Muldoon, Rawlings and a platoon down into the bowels of hell to kill the President and her Klowns. While the forces above ground are fighting for their lives against thousands of infected, the group below are in a hell of their own. Losing people left and right they carry on with the mission. The Alamo of the history books was a walk in the park compared to the epic battles fought here to stop the annihilation of the survivors. What an emotional ride of horror, disgust, hatred and loss amidst the blood and gore. This series just gets better and better. The loss of some of these awesome characters is really heartbreaking as they have become like family or friends. This is horror at it's best.
I typically don't love short books, because I like to invest myself in the characters. However, I'm very glad I gave series a shot, because the story is spectacular. I also borrowed this on my Kindle at like 1am, then stayed up reading until I had to sleep... And finished it within 24 hours. The vast number of characters forces me to double check "who-is-that-again" on more than one occasion. While that isn't ideal, it does lend a bit of reality to the story- one set of characters are obviously going to encounter various others, even for short periods of time, in this hellish world. I continue to love the horror of the Klowns and the different sort of post-apocalyptic twist present in this series, and I'm very much looking forward to the next installment.
It scares me that nuke codes aren’t recovered.. but It’s so good to finally have a win.. although you never know who is gonna die. I’m wondering too if the infected feed their “hunger” for pain, can they rationalize and be kinda normal? Like a wheel chair embedded with spikes.. (wink wink). That sparked me.. I’m curious to know more about the Klowns. This book gives a few origin clues as well! Good read! I’m excited but almost sad coming to the end. By the way…I’ve read Steven Knight, Craig DeLouie and Joe McKinney. The first Zom books I read were Joe’s! They bring a unique combo to this book! Although it does bare a resemblance to Dead:Immolition, and in the back it said it was planned to be a five book series. I really like that series A LOT, but this one is unique because they aren’t fighting zombies and again 3 magical zombie/horror writers!
Harry Lee and his battalion have to chase down an infected president in the country's top command and control bunker. This compelling scenario made this novel more interesting than the previous ones. These stories are 90% constant action and military jargon with occasional breaks for chest-bumps. Know what you're getting into.
Alamo....well not the Alamo but this book. Another chapter done in this fast paced series. They grab you and won’t let you go and the characters are well developed. Looking forward to the next book
Excellent read, builds upon the previous novels, these are the sort of Zombies that scare the bejesus out of anyone, can't wait for the next in the series and wondering what twists Craig will introduce next.
Well...no one is safe...anyone can become a freaky Klown/Crazie...and I have no idea how the military can possibly beat this!! Intriguing and so well-written and thought-out. Definitely a series for those who like their reading edge-of-the-seat!
Man, oh man, oh man. This was the sequel I've been waiting for for quite a while. Now that it is over, I have to wait until the masters at Audible publish the final book.
This was just as much fun as each book that preceded it and I have to say that the wait was worth it. I wondered what happened to most of the government and I was not disappointed to learn just that in this entry in the series. The clowns are just as vicious, if not more so than in previous books and the camaraderie and language used between military members were spot on.
Now, I have to wait for book five and Master Bray to complete the narration. RC, as usual, did a fantastic job with this audiobook and I will, always, highly recommend any work he narrates. His talents brought this masterpiece by Craig and the team to life in a way that only Bray can do.
Anyone who likes this type of story will enjoy this fourth volume The action is well paced with you routing for the troops Cannot wait for the next book
The series started off great, but has been going downhill since. I am not expecting War and Peace, but I would like to sense the authors care about their writing.
