With guitar-driven punk pop to rival top US groups like Blink 182 and Wheatus - Busted were a breath of fresh air when they burst onto the scene in 2002 with the catchy single "What I Go To School For", followed by "Year 3000". Busted aim to be the natural antidote to choreographed boy bands and this book offers a scrapbook of the group's personal rock'n'roll memorabilia, reflecting their rapid rise to fame. Surfing, shooting pool, football, gigging - a series of snapshots of life in young, bright, guitar-driven Britain in 2003. Every tale is told by the lively Busted 18-year-olds, Mattie, Charlie and James, oozing wit, style and charm. Added to the mix are exclusive photographs of the band in recording and television studios, on the road and live on stage during their first tour in May 2003.
Peter Robinson is a British music journalist. He is the creator of the pop music-based blog Popjustice. Recently, he has been hired to create the new Channel 4 music website along with the anonymous author of blog "Holy Moly". Robinson first came to the attention of music fans with his self-published biography/fanzine of The KLF, Justified and Ancient History. He is also the author of three other books: "The Official Story" and "On Tour" for UK pop band Busted, and also the author of the tie-in book to UK reality TV show Popstars: The Rivals.
His tongue-in-cheek writing harks back to the style of '80s magazines like Smash Hits, and often features running gags. His NME column Peter Robinson Versus..., in which he conducts a page-long interview over the phone, is a favourite among NME fans for its irreverent tone and non-sequitur topics, still going strong after 5 years. Perhaps because of his familiarity with the pop music scene, it features more mainstream pop and hip-hop artists than the rest of the indie-oriented magazine.
In November 2006 he won a Record of the Day PR & Music Journalism Award in the Breaking Music: Writer Of The Year category. Popjustice won in the Best Online Music Publication category.
Ah Busted... A band that will always connect me to my childhood. But in 2023 the boys are back! I actually bought this because of a mistake. Spotify said I could read Busted's new biography now, and I thought that meant they'd written one. It turns out it just meant their music profile on Spotify. So I was then gutted there was no biography to read. I spotted this on eBay for a few quid and thought it would bring me some nostalgia.
The book was a blast from the past and took me straight back to when the band was on their rise to fame. Although, I enjoyed certain aspects of the book, I think it's very amateur in the way it's edited. The writing also feels a bit diary like, but not in a tell all way, but more a tell a lot of boring unnecessary details kind of way.
I'd recommend this for hard core busted fans. But only if you're in the mood for listening to all their albums, including their new one!
This is an official book by the British pop-punk band Busted (with the help of a journalist)
This book features Busted's thoughts on everything: they talk about their childhoods, how they met, what it's like being in a band and their thoughts on girls.
I think my favourite parts were the three chapters about Mattie, James and Charlie's childhoods and their favourite bands. It was so interesting to read and lots of it was really funny.
Would recommend to other Loser Kids (Busted Fans!)
