Sons of Templar MC #3

Out of the Ashes

Rate this book
Living a life in darkness causes the soul to char to ash. Battling demons by turning himself into a monster is the only way he can survive...the only way he can keep a grip on sanity. That grip is precarious at best, every day is a silent battle with demons that threaten to yank him into the truest form of darkness, the abyss he’ll never escape. Then it happens. Light shines through the cracks.

Happiness. Mia Spencer’s life is full of it. She has an amazing new job, friends, family, and the light of her life - her daughter Lexie. Running from the demons of the past, escaping a hell that she vowed Lexie would never know about, she worked through hardship and near poverty to create something she was proud of. Buried deep inside, underneath the swell of love she had for her only daughter, were the fractured pieces of her. Pieces that were smashed and battered when she was young and vulnerable.

Then she meets Bull, who seems to hate her on sight. He screams danger, from his huge physique, to his beautiful ink, to the motorcycle club he belongs to. He is silent, his glares threaten to burn her into flames, yet she finds herself falling for him. Finds this broken man slowly fixing the pieces she thought would stay shattered forever.

I truly adore this series.

And I had been looking forward to Bull's story since we met him in book 1.

And how he was in this book, yes he was cruel at times to Mia and it was a bit hard to take. And I thought to myself, if this was a book with a brand new to me hero, I had not met before, I might not have been able to take his actions and behaviour.

But, after book 1, where we know his history, we know just how deep the darkness in him is, what battle he fights on a daily basis just to keep on living, in this book, we knew why he was as he was.

We also get some Bull POV here, and the guilt he lives with just magnifies when he meets Mia, as she gives him the first peace he has known in years. And he feels he does not deserve this peace.

What follows is probably the best book of the series, ( and I have truly enjoyed the previous books). It is so emotional and heart felt, and heart wrenching.

But, while Bull is never going to be as openly affectionate as Cade and Brock, as that is just not who he is, how he was with "his girls" toward the end, was beautiful.

And we not only see Bull finally feel able to deserve a partner, we get to watch him fall in love not just with a woman, but with her daughter, and he changes in so many ways, from a broken shell of a man living in darkness, to a man, a father standing in the light.

And while I feel this is Bull's story, maybe as we knew him and had hoped for HEA for him, Mia was just as engaging a character. Knowing she is hiding something, scared of something, ruining from that same thing, but she had created a beautiful life for her daughter, and their relationship was awesome.

A beautiful 5 stars

Oh, and Lexie and Killian!! Really!! I need that book now. What happend?

*re-read
*Note to anyone reading this review you know a book is great when you have to look up synonyms for amazing:}
This book blew me away I loved every single minute reading this book, I didn’t want it to end and when I finally read the last page I felt like I was about salivating for the next book (especially after the sneak she gives us at the end). I have really loved all the books in this series but this book somehow takes it to another level. The characters were extraordinary, the story was amazing, and this is one of those books that will stand out among the hundreds of books you read.

After moving far away from the only family they have Mia and her daughter Lexie find a new life. While getting breakfast one day Mia see’s three unbelievable handsome men, and one of them takes her breath away but from the looks he keeps giving her the feeling isn’t even close to mutual. A few days later Mia realizes that the brooding man is also her neighbor and if that isn’t enough while having car trouble Bull one of the men from before is also there at the auto shop.

After a devastating loss Bull has no plans on opening himself up ever again and just living some days is hard. Then while at a coffee shop he see’s a beautiful woman and her daughter, then he finds out she is his new neighbor. She sparks something in him he though long dead but also terrifies him. Mia is like no woman he has ever scene and her daughter and her are something that pull at Bull. When all Bull can think about is keeping his distance seeing Mia all the time makes it difficult and worse, seeing the reactions she gets from other men, and that’s not something Bull can deal with.

When Mia goes to Bull’s house things turn hot an heavy very quickly but end just a quickly and so horribly. Embarrassed and Mad Mia plans to fix that only to end up in Bull’s bed with the agreement that this is all he has to give. This isn’t something Mia has ever even considered but with Bull she agrees only to find out very quickly their agreement isn’t as easy as she thought. Bull knows what he has to offer and what he can’t do but being with Mia more and more he finds his resolve slipping, add in Lexie who is so sweet and kind Bull isn’t so sure about anything anymore.

When it may all be gone Both Bull and Mia find they’re way together but both Bull and Mia have dark pasts, and Bull’s life isn’t what you call normal living in a MC. Neither are sure they can find the light at the end of the tunnel. Just when Bull and Mia finally admit they can’t live without each other someone from their pasts comes along to try to take it all away.

I loved this book, literally from page one I was hooked and I didn’t want to stop reading once I started. I loved Bull, he was a phenomenal hero possessive and strong and protective and fierce. Mia was funny and sweet and just as strong in her own right. Lexie was a great addition to this book, she wasn’t filler or just a cute kid to add in the mix and I really, really hope we see more of her soon (pretty please) or I will be starting a petition. We get to see the previous characters from books one and two and some amazing new characters, *Killian* I don’t’ need to say anymore.

This authors voice and writing style blew me away, she has cemented herself in my auto buy/read/stalk list. Her first book, I loved. You could see that she would be a great author and had the potential to create some breathtaking books(and did in book one). Her second book, which I also loved just made me more sure and had me saying yeah she is great and coming into her own. With this third book she has staked her claim and made her own voice in this genre that has become saturated and in the authors circle all together.

I knew she was great with both books one an two (like I said I loved those books) but this book is something else, five stars will never be enough. She made me cry, she made me laugh, and she put more smiles on my face then I can count while reading this book, I found myself falling asleep many times while reading this book and not from boredom but because I didn’t want to put this book down till my eyes disagreed and would close on their own accord. I can’t wait for book four and I can’t recommend this book enough. And on a small side note this author is so sweet, when it seems we are seeing more and more mean and nasty authors she is so sweet and kind, and you can tell she not only loves what she does she takes pride in it, and cares about her readers. And that is yet another reason why she is so remarkable
* Thank you Anne Malcolm for this beta/arc read fro my review I loved every minute of it.

A lot of reviewers have compared this to At Peace and Kristen Ashley in general, but I didn’t feel that way probably because I hated disliked both major characters in At Peace intensely. Joe was a BFJ (big fat jerk) and Violet was a hypocritical tease. I really enjoyed both characters in Out of the Ashes though.

Bull the biker is taciturn, very, very dark and monosyllabic at best while Mia is the lighthearted one that almost verges too much into manic pixie girl but stops short. Her relationship with her daughter isn’t totally unbelievable, but their banter and relationship was fun to read.

Bull’s intense backstory comes up first and he has a lot to get over. Falling for a single mother and her daughter isn’t what he wants, but it’s a path to living again. I felt it was done nicely as there are honest emotions thrown around without falling into a vat of over-emotional KA-ishness Babe, darlin’… you complete me BS with the additional chin lift. In fact there were only 9 chin lifts total because I counted thanks to the nifty KU Search button. Yes, there is shopping, shoes and hair, but it’s kept within reasonable limits.

Mia has a sad backstory as well that pops out at the end, but we get a HEA and a bad biker that doesn’t kill as often and actually smiles on occasion.

There is a sweet second romance with the daughter and a future prospect that sounds like it gets hatcheted in a future book.

I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would. I have problems with reading badly or unedited books which is why I DNF'd Making the Cut, the first book in the series. This one is greatly improved, and the few errors there were didn't detract from my reading experience.

At first I thought Mia was going to get on my wick with her ridiculous decisions, and decided she wasn't the brightest bulb in the box. BUT I got used to her quirkiness and batty behaviour which was balanced out by her daughter's maturity. I loved Bull even when he was being a miserable get, my heart broke for what he suffered and how he lived with the guilt.

I'm anxiously waiting for Lexie's story, I need to know what went wrong there.

Favorite one in this series!!

The novel doesn’t shy away from heavy themes...pain, trauma, redemption...but it balances them with moments of tenderness, love, and even hope. Mia’s love for her daughter adds a depth to her character, making her strength even more admirable. And Bull? He’s the perfect tortured hero...fiercely protective, deeply flawed, yet utterly captivating.

If you love emotionally charged romances with dark, brooding heroes and heroines who refuse to break, this book is for you. It’s a gripping, heart-wrenching, and ultimately beautiful story about two people who weren’t looking for love but found it when they needed it most.

This was so KA-like - it seemed to be fanfic. Too much like At Peace. The "witty" retorts and comments of the h and the daughter were too stilted and didn't seem natural - both got on my nerves. Took me days to read - wanted to DNF a couple of times but made myself persevere. I might have rated better if it was KA inspired not exactly like KA. Don't know if I'll read other books by this author. 2 "At Peace"-loving stars.

This is the 3rd book in the Sons of Tempalr series and by far my favorite!! The dark and tragic Bull (aka "Zane") has been just barely living since his first love Laurie was brutally tortured and murdered. He never believed he was someone who deserved light or to love again. That is until he runs into a beautiful golden hair angel who immediately brings him into the light. Mia along with her 16 year old daughter Lexie have secrets of their own but they both are instantly drawn to Zane and his sexy brand of darkness. After several attempts to push Mia away, Zane finally sub comes to Mia's temptation. Although there are a series of unforeseeable obstacles Mia and Zane can finally be together and give Lexie the family she has always wanted. This book was AMAZING!!! I loved the back and forth rambling between Mia and Lexie. They were both rays of sunshine in Zane's dark world. I laughed, I cried and I hurt along with all the characters in this story. I was glad to see that Bull (Zane) was finally able to get his happily ever after.

Ding, ding, ding, Yes we have a winner here!
I read this last night and loved it. 4 stars, maybe up to 4.5.
The best of the 3 full length ones in the series. She's definitely getting better grammar/editing-wise.

Some mild spoilerish info may follow...

I thought the mother-daughter relationship was adorable, and it reminded me of all the good stuff between the mum and daughter from the Gilmore Girls. I loved seeing a fun, sensible (and NOT "broken") teenage girl - there's not many out there in booklandia and it makes for a nice change. We have a very cool heroine - fun, quirky (in a good way, not a "try-hard" way), caring and while she's not superconfident, she's not a total doormat either. She's willing to accept the hero the way he is (to a certain degree) coz she realises he has issues and baggage - but also she lets him know when he gets too wankery and/or jerkish.

Also, the hero and daughter relationship was somewhat like that of Joe and Vi's girls from Kristen Ashley's At Peace (but without Joe's shit-for-brains hurtful moments to both the heroine and daughters). I also liked that though he could be a bit jerkish at times, and had a pretty major brain-fart at one point, he wasn't trying to be truly purposely mean and hurtful/nasty to the heroine (I also liked that it did NOT take the form of getting boinky with another woman or making the heroine think he was - so bonus points for that). So it's all the good stuff that goes with an angst-ridden-tortured-hero but without crossing the line into too much alpha-hole-jerk-to-the-heroine territory.

I also liked that though the angst level is high re: his past with the dead love trope, I never felt like the new incoming love, the heroine, was second-best. A great deal of the hero's angst was because the heroine was coming to mean so much to him (and felt he didn't deserve it), and he feared what might happen to her because of who he is... And so NOT because there was a new woman on the horizon and he didn't want her replacing the dead lover, or she couldn't replace the dead lover, or guilt because she was coming to mean more to him than his devotion to the dead lover (or the dreaded "I love her in a different but just as good a way"). I loved that we DIDN'T have to have pages and pages devoted to reading about his relationship/interaction with that dead lover or read about him comparing his feelings about, or how the sex is, between the dead lover versus the new heroine (probably a major part of the reason why the heroine NEVER felt like second-best).

I also really loved the YA side romance of the heroine's daughter and the young guy the MC had taken on who will prospect with them as soon as he turns 18.

Re-read 3/26/17.... 3,5 stars.

Wow this one was so much better than book 1, which I didn't care for much.

It definitely had an "At Peace" by Kristen Ashley vibe to it, yet there were big parts that were completely different. Even though I still found that the heroine gave in too easily, at least she wasn't a lame airhead like the heroine from book 1.

A lot of people commented that this book made them think of "The Gilmore Girls" and I would have to agree with them. This didn't bother me in the least because I love that series. I also think that Mia was a great mom and her relationship with her daughter really made me laugh.

4 Stars from me :)

Reread via audiobook. I’ll leave the rating the same. I didn’t like it as much this time around, but I think that’s because this has MAJOR KA vibes… and I’m sort of over that style. It has MAJOR At Peace vibes like a few scenes were almost identical.

***Original Review***

This reads like a watered-down version of KA’s At Peace mixed with the Gilmore Girls, and I totally dug it. I have a love/hate with KA… I usually love the plot, but hate the overly wordy descriptions and the massive page lengths. And, at around 300 pgs, this had a lot less filler which worked for me, but, if you LOVE KA, this may feel like the store brand of Fruit Loops.

Couple FYI’s … This is a H hung up on the dead ex. IMO, he’s more hung up on guilt, but if you have any hang-ups with a replacement h scenario… you might not like it. Also, Bull is quite messed up. He’s bossy and cruel, so if the asshole caveman isn’t your thing… you might keep looking. (lots of orders & neck grabs-the sexy ones not choking :-) Finally, it’s a MC book, and there’re club-whores in the mix, but they aren’t really an issue or around much. Other than Bull mentioning once, that he’s had sex with one named Whit (before he hooks up with h-off page) there is no OW shenanigans/drama at all.

The book opens with Bull/Zane’s woman being assaulted/murdered by a rival gang. We then skip 4-years in the future with Mia rolling in to town with her teenage daughter, Lexie. Other than her calling her daughter dollface, they are both super cool in a KA h sort of way. The rest is their journey to HEA.

Even though he's a total jerkface for much of the book, I liked Bull. I would also be friends with Mia, and her daughter was wise beyond her years. I liked the brotherhood of the dudes, and the old ladies were cool as well. The plot moved along, and there’re two danger/action side plots to move shit a long.

My only grumps were that there are tons of time jumps that made the flow bumpy at times. And, I felt the lead up to the last danger conflict was very obvious, and I predicted what was coming. Which wasn't really difficult because she ends almost every book with the h being kidnapped and beat, stabbed, shot, etc.

Bottom Line- I liked it. It was an easy, entertaining read with likable characters. This is the 3rd book, and I didn’t read the first two, but I never felt lost. There’s an epilogue for this couple, but it does end in a cliffy for her daughter Lexie and Killian’s future which continues with Echoes of Silencein the spinoff series Unquiet Mind.

3 Stars, Just an OK read for me.

I have to say that as much as I have been enjoying this series, I can't help but feel that this story about Bull and Mia was more on the disappointing side for me:(

I didn't quite feel connected to Bull and/or Mia, I am not sure exactly why honestly but I just wasn't feeling their story.

Mia and Lexie's backstory, well mainly Mia, was heartbreaking and I mean when we finally get all the pieces of her broken past, I was crushed for her. I loved that she and Lexie were so close and that she was such a great mom BUT their humorous bantering back n forth for me, was annoying. That sort of back n forth for me was so overdone that it kinda put a damper on the flow of the story. Sorry, I didn't like that part of their relationship, it did NOTHING for me but annoy me.

Now Bull and Mia...they were HOT together I will give them that much. Their first encounter, whoa, had me squirming in my seat. I definitely "felt" the sexual heat between them, no doubt, BUT I guess because of Bull's past....hmmmmm, he was so emotionally disconnected, so emotionally "out of reach" and I just can't pinpoint it but I don't know I guess I wanted "more" out of his character if that makes sense. BUT their sexual relationship was HOT and SEXY and that definitely "saved" the story for me!

I still enjoyed the rest of the gang and look forward to the future stories for sure. I can't wait for Lexie and Killian's...that will be a must read:)

Review in Portuguese and English

MARAVILHOSO!

WONDERFUL!
This series keeps getting better!
I had a lot of curiosity about the hero and the heroine who would conquer his heart.
The author does not disappoint.
The heroine is wonderful and with a very peculiar sense of humor. I laughed a lot with her and her daughter. Both have amazing dialogues.
The hero is very tormented with guilt over the death of his wife and is very uncertain about the feelings that the heroine wakes up in his heart.
I laughed a lot and cried in some passages. I loved every moment of history.
This heroin goes to my list of the best and most charismatic.
I highly recommend!

I started this with high hopes but was soon distracted by how much it copied Kristen Ashley's style as well as the Gilmore Girls. Kristen Ashley needs to trademark her brand of hot guys on motorcycles who give chin lifts while grinning at how adorable the heroine is. Then the Gilmore Girls creators should get royalties from this story of a cute, quirky single mom of a levelheaded bookworm teen daughter who also happens to be a hotel manager who loves coffee, junk food, and pop culture references.

Reread September 2016 Despite being so distracted the first time through, this book popped in my head and I decided to reread it. This time I was able to focus on the story and the dialog (which in its own right, was great). I enjoyed it much more this time around and had a much better reading experience. So despite my earlier concerns, I am increasing my stars because this book worked for me.

I like the way this author writes and I hope to see more unique books that show off her talents.

On one hand, I enjoyed this book. Mia was funny. Bull was broody. Killian and Lexie were great. I was invested.

On the other hand, it didn't have a KA vibe. It had recurrent areas of KA deja vu. Having read old school KA at least 4 times each, it's hard not to notice when something is so similar. My crazy for KA fans will no doubt pick up on it too.

There was enough originality for me to enjoy it. Mia was very funny. Strong heroine. I liked her very much. She was one character that felt truly genuine. This would have been a 4-4.5 if my radar wasn't pinging so often at the similarities in characters and scenes. It was distracting.

If I am wrong in my assessment, I apologize. But it was so much part of my reading experience and it happened so often, that I had to make mention and include it in my rating/review.

I look forward to reading Killian and Lexie's story and hope their story takes on a life of its own.

I have read all of the books in this series and each book just gets better and better in both quality and substance. If you like, or love as I do, the MC/biker genre you should like this series. This book can be read as a standalone but reading all of the books in order will give you the backstory of the main characters.
Bull has faced loss and has shut himself off from getting close to anyone. His girlfriend was previously killed as a result of club violence and he agonizes over his failure to protect her. He’s hard outside but soft on the inside. When he meets Mia, he recognizes the attraction but fights it. He can’t fight the relationship with Mia’s young teenage daughter, Lexie, and they develop a close relationship before Bull and Mia finally give in to their attraction. Bull and Lexie’s relationship was heartwarming and showed the depth of Bull’s inner goodness. The story is light hearted at times but also has the grit to keep you on the edge of your seat. Loved the witty banter and easy relationship between the mother/daughter but it did appear to be a little OTT at times.

The author succeeded in giving me a connection with the characters and a story that I thoroughly enjoyed including drama, suspense and a HEA. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

5/5 Stars!!!!!!!
This is the 3rd book of the Mc series Sons of Templar. Out of the Ashes is my favorite book by Anne Malcolm.
Zane lost someone he loved very much in a horrible way and it has been haunting him for years until he laid eyes on Mia suddenly his mind is quiet. Zane and Mia have chemistry that is off the charts!!! Mia also has a sixteen-year-old daughter who is seriously so F**** funny. I loved how Zane treated Lexie as his own and was very protective of her and of course Mia. Over all, I just loved everything about this book.

Out of the Ashes

I’ve been waiting for Bull’s book and it was everything I could have wanted and more! He is so beautifully broken. Gah!! That’s my favorite kind of hero! And I just adored Mia and Lexie. They had me cracking up with their Gilmore-style banter and antics. The way their family comes together is so awesome. ALL THE FEELS here, you guys!
Now I have a real problem- do I continue my Sons of Templar binge or read Lexie’s story in the Unquiet Minds series?!?! Either way, I will be reading alllll the books. I can’t get enough!

I knew Bull story was heartbreaking, it was ugly and painful but dear god there were parts I wanted to strangle him... But none the less I loved him and Mia was perfect for him and the way he was with Lexy and Lexy with him was perfect.

I'm a sucker for single parent stories so when I saw that Mia had a kid I was exited to see how Bull the brooding, silent, torture, enforcer of The Sons of Templar was going to react to the kid but to my surprise it wasn't I little kid like I'm use to read but a 16 year old "unicorn" teenager and she was adorable and her relationship with her mother even more.

Now I can't FREAKING wait to read about Killian & Lexy!!!!

It's getting absolutely ridiculous at how Anne Malcom's words continue to slay me. My whole mind is blank right now. There are no words to explain the excruciating pleasure I got from reading Bull's story. My heart hurt so much for him. Bull is officially my favourite ever hero of Anne's. Nobody compares to him. His filthy mouth is dirtier than you can ever imagine. His intensity will absolutely burn you from the inside out. He is a sweet combination of rough and gentle that will have you melting into a puddle at his feet. His hard exterior is hard to love at times, hard to break through, but once done, you will find that it contains the softest heart that wants to love wholeheartedly. Bull and Mia, while they might be the most unlikely couple, they are absolutely perfect each other. Each running from their own darkness in search of sunshine.

Their beginning is not what you would have expected. Bull absolutely despises her & Mia can't figure out why. But he despises her, because he calms the noise & silences the demons in his head. And it messes with him. While I absolutely love Zane, I absolutely hated him in the beginning. How he could keep messing with Mia like that, treating her like absolute rubbish and keep going back, is beyond me. But then again, that might say something about me because my love/hate relationship with him turned me on.

I started with Kill and Lexie's story first, so that kinda spoiled a majority of Zane and Mia's story for me but I fell in love with them every step of the way, nonetheless. I am extremely emotional right now, mostly because my heart is sighing in content knowing that Bull finally got his happily ever after. And because their journey was a rough one. I felt every single emotion, every single tear and every ounce of pleasure. These Sons of Templar men are ruining me for every other book boyfriend I had or may have. There is no going back and I don't regret it. I am absolutely consumed by these books and Out of the Ashes just solidified even more. The writing and the execution of this story was excellent, every word on point, every phrase had its intended effect. My black heart and soul actually started beating again, reading this book. And this is why it'll always be one of my favourites.

There are no words to describe how much I love this book. If you haven't read this series yet, I highly recommend this! It's an amazing read and contains a broody alpha biker & some serious humour.

I find this author tries too hard. Never a good thing when reading. This book was hard to get through for me. It was my second book by this author, the first was a DNF but I heard good things about this and decided to give it a go.

I found the heroine and her daughter were too closely molded off Gilmore Girls. Way to closely. Like give the writers of GG royalties because this was almost a carbon copy. The sarcasm was just too much, again dont try so hard. Nobody is like that apart from on tv it makes your characters seem cheesy and fake. The Kristen Ashley of it all was so clearly there. KA didn't market the corner of badasses but clearly said author is a fan because it's a low rent version of it.

The mother/heroine, Mia comes off as ridiculous and immature and not sassy and fun. Try hard. Daughter was okay, but again total try hard. Sarcasm too much. Mia even worked as manager at an inn/hotel. Daughter was a smart student/book worm but acted like a 20 year old. They were obsessed with coffee. So many GG things it became cheesy AF. EYEROLL.

Hero was bland with no personality just a lot of grumpy broodyness and sex eyes. He has sad backstory but not as heavy hitting as intended and treats heroine like shit for a good 40% of book. NOT COOL.

This author can write but I find she tries too hard to be sassy and fun with her heroines and they just come off like total idiots. Her heros are alright but they have no personality and they're pretty much all interchangeable.

Biker storyline lacks the oomf we expect in the genre. The romance isn't about scorching chemistry it's more about the sex.. which isnt even that good. There's still only a handful of authors that can write a DECENT biker book.

Author not for me. Secondhand embarrassment when reading, not fun. My book club thought it was boring after 50% and one said she had secondhand embarrassment. Wouldn't recommend at all.

It is well written and the dual POV is handled well, not repetitive like it can be. But ..... I get Bull is a tortured soul and he feels guilty but I never understand why a tortured past means the hero is allowed to treat the heroine so badly, even be unkind and cruel. The heroine has had a hard past too, even if it is just being a single parent, without any dark past. The fact that he is amazing to her later didn't wash with me, almost felt she'd have been better off without him. I almost didn't finish it several times.

The scenes with Lexie and her mum are fantastic, the dialogue is amazing and the ending is really clever. Lots of appearances from Cade/Gwen/Amy/Brock even Luke.

I can't wait for Lexie's book, find out what went wrong and how her life will work out. I am sorry it's not a good review I loved the earlier books but I wasn't happy with Bull.

An author new to me and I enjoyed her writing. I loved the artwork on the cover and was attracted. The lady and her 16 year old daughter move to a town and meet the gritty biker who lives across the street. The gals are hilarious and so much fun. Zane (Bull) is alpha mute and so rude to Mia that he doesn't deserve her (IMHO). Mia and Lexie come at Bull with kindness and affection. He really is a jerk... that is slowly cracking his walls. You'll like the characters....even the bad guys are written "bad".
There is a lot of violence in the book. It isn't so graphic but graphic enough. If women are hit and that triggers something for you, don't read.

There is a pretty wild HEA with lots going on. I feel another in this series coming but this is a standalone just the same. Loved it!!!

Not a fan of a H that only speaks in monosyllables and grunts. He treated the h like a sex toy and was a complete neanderthal. He threw her out of his house as soon as he was done having sex. The h had a 16 yr old daughter and their interactions were too silly and unrealistic. Plus, the author took great pains to make the h seem young and cool which didn't seem right with me. The h acted too immature and not at all like a realistic mother. Women can still be sexy without acting like teenagers. The daughter's immediate attachment to the H also didn't make any sense.
