Anne Elaine Schraff grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. She received both her bachelor's and master's degrees from California State University at Northridge and taught high school for ten years.
Anne paid her way through college by writing short stories for magazines. Since college she has written hundreds of stories and over eighty books including historical fiction, biographies, science books, and her favorite, fictional books for young people. She is published as both Anne Schraff and Anne E. Schraff.
Her background, which she describes as "multicultural, lower middle-class neighborhood, including African Americans, Mexican Americans, Arab Americans, and Filipino Americans," is her greatest inspiration when writing.
I found the book very interesting. Basil as a whole character was very off and Mysterious throughout the whole book. I love the fact that Basil allowed Valarie to figure out who he truly was as a person in the very end.
The Haunting of Hawthorne by Anne Schraff was pretty good tale of YA. The story is narrated by a young student named Valerie Moran: she is a young, smart student at a rundown high school. Also she suffers from epilepsy. Sadly she feels self conscious about her disability. Valerie is trying to get a scholarship and thrive academically. So she could later on teach handicap students. Soon in the story she meets a new student Basil Harris. He's a very kind and charming young man. Compare to the bullies and other degenerates in that school, Basil is a true gentleman. Valerie couldn't help but fall for him, but Basil Harris came to Hawthorne High to clean up the filthy students that are trying to ruin the school. Certain events happens in the school and the enchanting Basil always prevents the situation getting worse. Valerie notices these occurrences and decides to investigate her new friend Basil. In which she later on realizes that Basil Harris has so much to do with William Evan Hawthorne that the high school was named after. Mr. Hawthorne was the first principal that died trying to save his students from a fire.
This cute and interesting tale was a short story. So I read it in a day. Luckily it was a fast read, because I was helping my friend's daughter with her book report. Very glad I did since I enjoyed this book and did my friend's kid. I would recommend this novel to any youngster or adult. So I rate it with 2 thumbs up and five stars.
For what it is and who the designated audience is, it's a solid read. Any pre-teen reader who is slightly interested in paranormal activity, this book is definitely 4 to 5 stars.
The teacher loved his students. Then there was a fire in the school then everyone got out then he went in to see if there was any more people in there then he died in the fire. The beam broke that holds the school then it fell on the teacher died. Now he haunts the school but the jerks are being mean and they are writing on the walls.
Yes I liked it because I like haunting books and house.
1. This is where Basil tries to burn down a school because he is a bad kid. But everybody thought he was handsome. Mr. Kramer was dead during the fire.
