Return to an age of danger and chivalry, when three daring knights - fostered together since boyhood in the same warrior tradition - fight to win the hearts of the women they love.
Wrongly accused of murdering his father and seeking revenge on his conniving half-brother, Drake Thornton MacDougall abudcts his brother's bride-to-be, Lady Averyl Campbell, a strong-willed, alluring, and fiery beauty, but they soon discover that both of them are threatened by treachery and intrigue.
I don't really know how to even sum up my feels. Did I like this story? *OR * do I love the smooth voice of Tim Campbell??? This is the second of the series and it is more of the same -- lots of outrage and dislike at the beginning -- repetitive intractable conflict between the two, repetitive thoughts, repetitive complaints, repetitive arguments, repetitive assumptions that could be cleared up with a few truthful words ... A quick not really believable turn from hate to love... Tropes are all there, stolen bride (obvi from the title) who is pissssssed, all she wants is love, he wants revenge and has vowed to never, ever, ever fall in love. At times he's kinda rapey... in that she says NO to him a lot and he ignores that, a lot... because no means yes, which is a major PEEVE because NO MEANS NO!... And yet... I wanted to know what was going to happen and I made it all the way to the end...
ALSO, the cover -- Averyl has blonde curly hair, noted frequently...
Meh. I wasn’t expecting much other than maybe something fun, but I just ended up getting whiplash from the constant shift in tone and level of suspension of disbelief required. It would go from the main characters talking to each other like gd grownups to refusing to communicate and making wild assumptions about each other (presumably on the basis of mind-reading) in practically the same breath. An issue would work itself out, only to rear up again and have the characters speaking as if the previous scenes never happened or had no effect. Nope. No thank you. Not for me. It’s not terrible (mostly) but I couldn’t get over the inconsistencies—it felt too much like the author just couldn’t make up their mind.
I really wanted to like this book. The story was so good and I wanted to keep reading to find out wjat happened, but the characters made it so hard. Both the Male and Female protagonists only see the worst in everyone, including themselves and each other and it was driving me crazy. It took me longer to get through it then normal, but I was determined to finish this one since I couldn't finish the first one. It was ok over all but i don't think I will read anymore of this author. Just not my style.
Great book. Drake and Averyl romance was well developed. Drake has been framed by his half-brother of killing their father. Averyl is his brother's fiance. Drake kidnaps Averyl and romance ensues. Great book.
His Stolen Bride I listened to this book. It wasn't as terrible as I'd expected. Definitely uber cheesy. I've also have never read this author, I know she write some hard core romance (erotica) but I'd say this is very tame. There are some terrible analogies, and a horrible irish accent for the audio. BUT, I was expecting to not even finish this. So I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the overall plot. I may read this author again knowing to be careful of my selections.
It also definitely doesn't matter if you have read the first one. May have to give that one a try. I assume its about one of the other men in the books :).
I feel like this is a story told to many times, murdering for an inheritance. It takes until the last chapter for the male lead character to finally admit he loves her which was just getting stupid. The theme so far for these books is the men fail to communicate anything half the issues that arise in these books could of been avoided if they were honest. I’m hoping the last book will be better and maybe switch things up, like have the guy fall in love and have to convince the girl this time

Wrongly accused of murdering his father, Drake MacDougall wanted nothing more than to strike back at his guilty, duplicitous half-brother. So he made the fiend pay by abducting his bride-to-be. But as Drake carried his captive off to a windswept Scottish isle, he soon found that vengeance wasn’t the only thing on his mind. Lady Averyl Campbell proved herself no biddable maiden, but an alluring, strong-willed beauty who could tame his dark moods with her touch. When danger and treachery threatened to part them, Drake realized that only she could heal his tormented soul, for she had won his love.
