This book saved my life. It helped me to see that what had happened to me had HAPPENED TO me (that it wasn't my fault). I learned the patterns that bullies use and how to avoid their traps.
There's no other book like this. It's flawed, but it still deserves five stars because of the sheer determination that must have been required for Field to write even one paragraph at times. Even then, the book only came out with the help of his son.
This is an extremely important book. Nobody is talking about adult-to-adult bullying. Nobody! There aren't even any other books on the subject (to my knowledge). It's a massive social issue affecting thousands if not millions of people, and greater awareness of it might help to confront it. Bullying thrives in silence. Being the victim has nothing to do with being weak; only unfortunate. Breaking the discursive silence is an important first step.
I’ve started this as part of a research project. From my initial viewing I will need to read in-depth. Lots of information and practical advise. So far a must for HR and employers
Another in a series on workplace bullying that I've read before and are re-skimming looking for specific information. This British publication by the late Tim Field is packed full of useful information.
Tim Field is truly the pioneer of bullying in the workplace. The book is informative and easy to understand. A must have for anyone encountering workplace harassment/abuse.
