Chris Johnson never really started living until he died. Orphaned, fostered, and drifting through life, the twenty-seven-year-old programmer had no family, little money, and few friends. But he also had no enemies. So, who the hell killed him? After an experimental process brings him back from the dead as a zombiebot, he gets the chance to find out.

Heather Logan’s latest process uses nanobots to reanimate a corpse. Half robot, half something raised from the dead, Chris is her first successful resuscitation. Questions abound. What is it? Is it truly alive, a machine, or some kind of zombie-hybrid?

But someone wants to steal Heather’s secret process and put her out of the picture permanently. Chris, with his new superpowers, is the only thing standing between Heather and an assassin’s bullet. Is he enough of a hero to save her?

The blurb reminded me of another seriers I've read and hoped I would enjoy the concepts in this one as well. But unfortunately I struggled with the story and audiobook. Not my cup of tea

A fast action packed story with a lot of hot romance. Chris is a newly turned robot with a lot of new information to take in. I did enjoy this book I would like to read more in this series. If there is more I would like to know how Chris is getting on being a robot and what becomes of him and company. Reviewed by

I received this book for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Read an excerpt and follow the Goddess Fish book tour here.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started reading this, but it quickly turned into something I enjoyed a lot. I’m not big on zombies, but this book took them in a great direction. The science is amazing yet plausible. The characters are fleshed out and realistic, and I didn’t see the twist coming—though I probably should have.
Heather and Chris are fantastic characters, both as individuals and a couple. Heather is a “strong” woman without having to kick butts to prove it, and Chris is a former dork who is now super-hot and strong and can’t quite figure it out. I would have liked a bit more of his dork personality to shine through after he’s brought back. He seems to get really confident without too much struggle, but he wasn’t an instant alpha-male either. He’s the kind of romance hero I like to read—manly but not in a “I will crush you for glancing at me the wrong way” way. Heather, too, is outstanding. She’s no blushing violet, but she’s not a prude either. She’s dedicated to her work without being angry about the sacrifices she’s made. She’s also brilliant. I always enjoy scientifically minded characters, possibly because I’m not very scientifically minded. Watching her figure stuff out was cool.
As I said, I didn’t see the twist coming, and it was a good one. Definitely not what I expected. Overall, I really enjoyed this and would love to read more from this author, especially in this universe. The superhero themes that come into the story hooked me. Otherwise, if you want your romance on the hotter side of medium with intrigue and action outside of the bedroom as well as in, this one’s for you.

Fun! This book has it all - strong and smart female characters, technology, a battle between good and evil, cartoon heroes with super powers, lots of action, ethical dilemmas, a satisfying romance and even some urban renewal. A scientist is working to create a zombie that can be programmed to do as directed and the very first subject for the experiment turns out to be a computer programmer whose soul doesn't completely leave his body when he dies, so he is able to reprogram the nanobots directing his thoughts to respond to his direction. And there begins the adventure. This zombie is not the walking dead kind of guy, but rather a hunky super hero who keeps fighting for good. It was a great ride!

This is a great book for readers who prefer their romance with nonstop action in a science-fictional setting. I happen to be one of those people, and I couldn't put Z-Bot down. The premise: A controversial medical laboratory project attempts--successfully--to convert recently deceased people (with their previously obtained permission, of course) into virtually indestructible robotic androids, but something goes surprisingly right: the dead person's "self" or "soul" sticks around in the enhanced body. And something else goes surprisingly wrong: one of the sponsors of the project turns out to have deeply criminal intent and has infiltrated the project to carry out its devious mission. This book would make a fantastic graphic novel, complete with superheroes. I hope it's the first of many.

This book has it all: a strong intelligent female character, technology far advance then our own, romance, a battle of good and evil (of course), action to die for, ethical dilemmas coming to question you, and a urban renewal to the mix. Its like Stan Lee had a apprentice and his name is S.C. Mitchell.

Anyone whom loves action super hero stories with a huge hint of romance would love this but also enough moments to find yourself laughing at where our super hero is a zombie but not a walking dead version but a strong sexy version. You get a little bit of everything with this fun humorous fast paced action packed book. You should of read it yesterday.

Fun, fast read. Creative, fresh premise that integrates really well with today's Marvel Comics-influenced sci-fi/fantasy world. Intriguing twists, believable characters, lots of humor. The wrap-up was a little fast for me, but overall this is a great introduction to this series and deserving of the awards won.

Bir of fun

Not always convincing but never the less a fun read.
The characters are black or white hence lack depth and dimension. Once it get going the story gallops along. The sci-fi if not credible is certainly possible.
The read is better than my review makes it sound if you like action and a good vs bad narrative you will enjoy it.

Fun sci-fi romp

No space and no aliens but a fun sci-fi romp nonetheless. I won’t spoil the ending but there were some surprises that I didn’t see coming. Which is why I can still characterize them as surprises I suppose. Anyway. I enjoyed it. Don’t be put off by the association with zombies. The reference is relevant but not valid. Or maybe valid but not relevant? Whatever.

Story diminished by over emphasis on sex with the dead and chemical attraction to the dead.

This book has too much emphasis on chemical attraction. The female characters are far too motivated by sex to be believable.

Pretty good. I read this one for my alphabet challenge…needed a Z. I was a bit disappointed that I figured out the villain before the MFC did…she was smart, but lacked ppl skills and common sense, so that was annoying. Fun premise, I enjoyed that I was a bit different from my norm.

Great plot and sci-fi

Nanobots, zombies, computers. Lots of plot twists and turns. Also has a steamy love interest behind the scenes. One of 3 in the series. Stands on own.

Nerds are so sexy!

Good plot. Luke warm love scenes. Plenty of action. My favorite part of the story are the take charge women. I look forward to the next installment.

A super hero

I wasn't sure what kind of story I was going to get here. I didn't expect a super hero story. Not bad. Very creative.
