“Innocence comes at a price…How far would you go to protect it?"
A girl’s body washes up on the beach. She needed to be silenced. But what secrets did she take with her to a watery grave? Secrets so dark she had to be eliminated.
Detective Inspector Scott Baker and his team are thrown head first into their most challenging case to date. What did the girl know that led to her violent, slow and painful death. As they dig deeper, evidence emerges of an organised trafficking and teen prostitution ring, where girls are commodities, their childhoods erased, and their futures uncertain. The sudden death of a loving mother and devoted wife complicates the case. Is there a connection or is it a tragic random murder?
The investigation rocks the team to the core. Emotions run high as they uncover a dark, sick, twisted web of human depravity that causes Scott to question the notion of justice.
Scott faces his own demons as the case stirs deep seated grief that he fights hard to contain. Old memories race to the surface making him confront his difficult past and look to the future.
It’s now a race against time, can Detective Inspector Scott Baker save the girls from an unknown future of human slavery which offers one outcome…their eventual deaths.
Stolen is a gritty police procedural in the DI Scott Baker Crime Series. A story of injustice, greed, control and heartache.
Stolen is a murder mystery thriller peppered with a sprinkling of romance and humour in this fast-paced crime whodunnit set in the coastal town of Brighton on the south coast.
If you love police procedurals, hard boiled mysteries, or books from Damian Boyd, Angela Marsons, Helen H Durrant, Mel Sherratt, Lisa Hartley, or Kerry Wilkinson, you’ll enjoy the second in the DI Scott Baker series.
The DI Scott Baker Crime Series don’t have to be read in order; they do all work as stand-alone novels. However, to get the most out of each and to develop a better appreciation of the main characters and their backgrounds, it’s recommended that they are read in the order in which they were written.
Crime Never Pays… Well yes and no depending on what side of the fence you’re on!
I’ve always had a strong passion for whodunnits, crime series, and books. The more I immersed myself in it, the stronger the fascination grew.
In my spare time, you’ll find me in the gym, reading, binge watching Netflix or taking walks in the forest.
Oh, and I’m an avid people watcher, I just love to watch people, their mannerisms, and their way of expressing their thoughts… weird I know, but I could spend hours doing that. It's funny, because watching people often gives me insights and inspiration for describing human interaction in my books.
Fun fact: My favourite, bestest place ever on earth? Any of the Florida theme parks and the mad coasters out there. Add the food, shopping and weather, and you've got the best place on earth... especially when I see the joy on the faces of my family when we're out there :)
Weird fact: Spending an afternoon in a mortuary to bring my books to life. Oops! poor choice of words there :)
Hard hitting book number two in the DI Scott Baker series, dealing with a very emotive subject.
Jay Nadal has dealt with a very sensitive storyline in this book and handled it brilliantly. It really brings home the absolute horror without being too graphic.
Once again, I was totally invested in this story and how it was going to play out, had me gripped all the way through.
Well written, great characters, definitely a series that will get you hooked.
Stolen is book two in the DI Scott Baker series by Jay Nadal. Detective Inspector Scott Baker caught the cases of a young girl found on the beach and the death of a loving mother. At first, DI Scott Baker could not work out if both deaths were connected. The investigation got complicated when the investigation came across an organised trafficking and prostitution ring. The readers of Stolen will continue to follow the DI Scott Baker investigation to find out what happens.
I love reading books in the DI Scott Baker series, and Stolen did not disappoint. I engaged with this book from the first page, and it continued to the end. I love Jay Nadal's portrayal of his characters and how they interact with each other throughout this book. Stolen is well written and researched by Jay Nadal. I like Jay Nadal's description of the settings of Stolen that allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot.
The readers of Stolen will learn about living in the UK coastal town of Brighton. Also, the readers of Stolen will understand that at times cases can affect law enforcement officers more than other cases.
Sometimes the second book in a series grips you more than the first, not necessarily because it's better written, but because you already have a relationship with the characters and appreciate the nuances that they bring to the team.
The Stolen Girls is a brilliant read, which deals with a disturbing topic ~ the trafficking of teenage girls to a life of sex slavery. DI Baker and his team are faced with a race against time, to not only solve the murder of their first victim but also to save other missing girls from the horrors that Libby had to endure in her short life. But where does the murder of a loving mother fit in? If at all??
Scott's burgeoning relationship with the pathologist, Cara Hall adds another layer to the story ~ making him more human. The team dynamics make the story very readable.
Looking forward to the third book in the series.

Jay Nadal has a way with words and thoughts, even of the thoughts are of a fictional character! And he does these things very well! This book had a tough plot, one that should shake everyone up. And in all honesty is a huge problem in today's world. So bringing attention to the glaring reality makes us all much more watchful. I am loving getting to know all the key characters, they are great. And its fun being in at the beginning of new things. Looking forward to the next book!
This is an improvement on the first book in the series. Maybe there is something m missing with the style of writing but I get to 50% of the book but feel like I’ve only got 40% of the story and then suddenly it all resolves too easily, conveniently and quickly. Really think it could be paced out a little more evenly because the plots are fairly good.
I am a fan oh Jay Nadal and, once again, he has written an exciting story. The subject matter is a horrendous atrocity and all people should be reminded if how human trafficking needs to be one of law enforcement, along with everyone else, should be diligent. Me Nadal has handled this subject without being graphic.
Another brilliant story in the second book of this series. Apart from the depravity that some humans will stoop to, this is an interesting read. Not a pleasant case for DI Baker and his team but there are a few laughs along the way to lighten the load. And we see a touch of romance developing as well. A worthwhile enjoyable read.
A well written if disturbing story of Che sex trafficking. Uncomfortable read g at times but the story was told with compassion V An enjoyable read if some what hard going at times. Looking forward to t Reading more booms by Jay Nadal.

A good read but sad to realize that humanity is devastatingly cruel and each man looks to himself and makes sure that his own desire are fulfilled. Fortunately we can depend on law and order to generally prevail
This is my 2nd book that I have read by this Author. Congratulations on yet another brilliantly written book which once I started reading it I could not put it down. I would definitely recommend The DI Scott Baker series to any other avid reader like me.
A very great book about a very terrible subject . It is one everyone should be against. People who hurt and abuse children and also women. People should CARE. 😢
This is a step up from the first book and was much more riveting. A tough story, dealing with drugs, prostitution and human trafficking of young girls but handled quite well.
Despite the harrowing storyline, I found it very easy to read. I liked the development of the characters and enjoy the relationship between Scott and Abby. It's also good to see things are looking up for Scott on the personal front. I'm glad I gave this book a chance after the first one and I look forward to the rest in the series.

DI Baker is so interesting. I enjoyed that he and Cara are getting closer and I love his relationship with Abby. The team works well together and methodically solves the crime. This book is about a difficult topic and I appreciated that the detectives were really affected by the crimes because it showed their human side. And also treated it like the horrific crimes they are.
CW: sexual abuse of minors (mostly off-page but one instance on-page).

Whoa! This is a heart stopping rollercoaster ride of emotions that gets driven to the depths of filth. You won’t want to put this book down cuz you wanna see how it plays out. BUT you can’t stop yourself because of the disgusting reality that is portrayed. Such a horrible reality.
The characters get better n better. I’m excited for the next adventure.
