Rate this book
LAPD cop Mickey Stanton knew the minute the new guy, Jeff Chandler, a transfer from Seattle PD ended up in his division, he was crazy about him. Ending up in the same patrol car working as partners, Mickey couldn’t believe his luck when one late evening at the end of shift, they revealed to each other their sexual preference. From that moment on, the two of them began a fiercely wild love affair which included risqué sex on duty.

Craving Mick’s violent style of sex, Jeff knew he’d found a compatible partner on the job as well as in the bedroom, but after being burned by another lover, an officer in Seattle, Jeff was hesitant to commit to Mickey. Working long shifts, getting into dangerous situations together, Jeff trusted Mickey with his life, but not his heart. And Mickey craved that one true love, an exclusive pairing, and a life partner to share his life with.

As the exhaustion and stress of the job compete with their volatile relationship, Mick and Jeff struggle to keep what they have alive as the battles between them are as passionate as the sexual bouts. Can the two big cats, the sworn officers of LAPD make it happen? Or will the job and the anger separate these top men? Sometimes the answer is sitting in a patrol car by your side.

Alvin peaked my interest with this status update:
Two very hot policemen who likes doing it while on call? In public??? Oh gosh that is so wild!!!

My review:

***3 hope-not-every-cop-is-like-these-guys stars***

Alvin's review was spot on, so I'll keep this short.

Part of this book was pretty hot (aggressive sex (on the point of fighting) with lots of dirty talk, oh yes!) But I found the book had an affect on my moral compass. The way these hot cops handled their guns (and I'm not talking about that thing in them pants mmmm'key) was uncomfortable and inappropriate. I felt my mother ehm... hen-ness raise her back and stick out her very pointy finger and wave "No-no-no, absolutely not alright."

Like this... (not plot spoiling btw)

Also, they way they were going at it on the job. In their car and such was okay, but giving but I think "porn plot" more than anything else.

ps. I read this serie out of order. I started with this #3, didn't find it a problem having not read #1 and #2.

HOT...OR MAYBE TOO HOT.
This one's a mixed bag for me.

Well, I loved that this is about cops. Who doesn't have a sexual fantasy with a cop? Whether you're gay or straight, you probably had at least one fantasy with them. So this one is fantastic in that regard. If the thought of two hot, handsome police officers screwing each other is not enough, the author made them like two crazed exhibitionists and intense, violent tigers in bed. Mickey & Jeff like to do it while on call. Even though its uber fucking hot, I worry about their jobs. And them being violent during sexy times, at first I found novel. Then the second, third, fourth time and etc, it was too much for me. I liked it, but it's too much.

I liked Mick & Jeff in general. I liked how different they are with the MCs of the first two books and I liked how Ms. Hauser thought of a new kind of relationship for these two. But I found their issues a little childish for me. I understand Jeff in the beginning on why he doesn't want to commit with Mick and I understand even more after it was revealed what happened to him in Seattle.
Mickey, my God, even though I liked him, I hate how he's so needy and so damn sensitive he is. He's worse than a girl. At times it looked like Jeff is dealing with a girl. It's annoying.
I'll give Mickey's sister Aura a honorable mention because she is so damn cool. A lot of you GR Ladies will relate to her, I bet. ;)

Tanner & Josh and Blake & Hunter appeared a lot in this one. And I liked all their appearances. But I don't know how to take their Barbeque hangout scene.

Another thing, this read end

Overall, I liked it and it's hot, but some things were to much and over the top for me. And I liked Book 1 & 2 better than this unfortunately.

Well if you have a policeman kink then probably I can recommend this to you! A nice hot and light hearted read!

OH crap! So I'm reading this book with two LAPD officers who get their rocks off everytime they fight and we're not talking little squabble here we're talking some serious shit with vulgar lingo thrown into the mix :laughing hard: Quite amusing I must say and most moments in this story get yeah a little hot and bothered under the collar all in one shot. But here's the humor of it: There's a part in here that mentions how they 'fuck like animals' and from that moment on I kept hearing this tune repeatedly in my head and now I can't get rid of it. If y'all ever heard of the tune Discovery Channel you'd know what I'm yammering about. Here's a short clip of the lyrics: You and me baby ain't nothing but mammals so let's do it like they do on the Discovery Channel. Hilarious!!! Now it's going to haunt me for a few bloody days!

A lot of sex, not much of a story line and characters from other books of GA's come together in this story. Still wasn't a bad read.

I used to like GA Hauser's book, but not this one!
98% of the book is made up of sex scene after sex scene and they're all nearly the same. YAWN. Where is the plot? I could find no plot or story in this book.
The characters were flat, one was always on the look out for the next best thing and the other was a clingy chick-with-a-dick type with no backbone whatsoever. He 'tried' putting his foot down and walking away, but then, of course he was ruled by his dick rather than his brain (it didn't seem like he had a brain, tbh), and so instead of talking out their issues the main character just had sex. Again and again and again. And one more time, make that two, no five!
God. What a waste this book was.

Several books ago, I enjoyed GA Hauser's books, but the last few have
left me disappointed. This was no exception.

I enjoyed the first two in this series & so had high hopes. Sadly, it was purely pages & pages of repetetive sex scenes, repetetive behaviour from the main characters - sex, fall-out over lack of commitment, rough make-up sex, fall-out over lack of commitment, etc, etc. Very little plot that I could discern. One plus point - it was nice, however, to see characters from Ms Hauser's other books making appearances.

I must have missed the point with this one! I really disliked it! I love a good steamy M/M romance, so was looking forward to it. However, I soon realised my enthusiasm was not going to do me any good. What I got was flat characters with no actually personality, repetitive sex scenes and bickering and a terrible storyline. Micky was ok, if a bit over the top. Jeff was just unrealistic and ridiculous. I don’t mind a character not wanting to commit and wanting to get it on with other people. However, I don’t think that’s ok when you are basically shacking up with someone else, and when you cannot make up your mind. I also found Jeff’s thinking with his dick stupid. He was going on as if he was an 18 year old guy who just discovered he had a Penis! Jeff was not really young and it’s not like he hadn’t been about. So, his attraction to want to fuck and attractive man in sight was not believable. Constantly masturbating over anyone he met was not likely either. I didn’t get the massive panic to sample every fella in LA either? As if they were a different breed? He came from Seattle, as far as I know they have attractive gay people there, or are they all orcs? I also found Josh kind of gross and obnoxious. This with the childish and. Stilted writing that rarely seemed realistic did not help. I also did not appreciate the stereotypes tossed about. Such as only chicks wants monogamy and to settle down? That all gay men avoid and cannot commit to monogamy, that gay men cannot keep their dick in their pants, and the Cliche twinj that was over dramatic and attention seeking was a yawn as well. This was a big fat no no for me as a whole I am afraid.

The third in the Heroes series is a mix of the two previous books: it has a bit of the lightness of Man to Man and a bit of the seriousness Two In, Two Out. Top Men is about LAPD cops Mickey and Jeff; even if both of them are quite good cops, they are not adverse to the idea of having sexual thirst during working hours. Probably they are still in the “heat” moment of their relationship, their relationship as lovers and colleagues is only few weeks old, and so they are still in that phase when they are knowing each other and tasting the ground on which their relationship will have foundations.

Even if Mickey and Jeff have more or less the same age, they are in two different phases of their life: Mickey has played the field for a bit, and when he met Jeff he knew he was ready for a serious relationship; instead Jeff is like a baby in a candy store, still wide eyed in front of all the Men candy he sees around. It’s not that Jeff wants to cheat on Mickey, but he needs time to understand that he has no need to taste all the candies, that he has already found his forever addiction.

G.A. Hauser plays a lot on the “gay romance” for women thing. She knows well that she is writing mostly for women, and the character of Aura, Mickey’s sister, is probably the personalization of all those women. Said that, I’m not implying that Hauser’s gay romances are not for men, I think that, they can be right also for men; as Hauser herself said in the novel, Aura, and probably a bit Hauser’s, more than women are a gay man in a woman body.

Mickey and Jeff are very much alike, and in being so, they are denying the assumption that opposites attract. Mickey and Jeff are good together since they react at the same way and they think alike. On the contrary of most of previous Hauser’s characters, they didn’t face personal and public issues with tears and emotional breaks, they react with rage and full front. In a way they are quite dangerous, and probably, on a relationship perspective, if they weren’t so alike, they wouldn’t survive as a couple.

Top Men is the book that links together the Heroes series with the Action! One, Mark & Steve from the Action! Series meet all the boys from the Heroes series, and from this moment on the two series moves together.

What in the blue hell? I only read this because I bought COPS and realized they were in an established relationship and wanted to see how they got there.

If you're like me, save your breath. In this one, the "relationship" is established as well. So you get no personal history, no nothing, just "hey, we've been fucking for a while". And by a while I mean, if they go at it "in their past" like they do in their present, their assholes would be windsocks. Pardon my crassness, but I can't think of a more badly executed book.

So I forced myself to get past the sex on every single paragraph. Ignored the fact that there is no plot, other than really violent sex between the "adult equivalent" of an emotionally adolescent girl (who evidently wears halter tops and shorts, and pouts all the time) and a commitment-phobe.

First of all, I'm down for sex driven stories with alpha men, and I can even tolerate a lack of plot otherwise, but this might be the worst example I've ever seen. The FIRST PARAGRAPH, of the FIRST PAGE is mid blowjob. No hi, how do you do, this is my character's back story, just hey, say hello to my penis.

Also, bringing in other characters from other stories I actually liked by the author (somehow) and ruining their relationship for me by letting them participate in what amounts to group sex is ridiculous and unnecessary. (If you liked Steve and Mark from Capital Games, DO NOT read this OR Cops)

Finally, let me just go ahead and tell you, if you're going to read the NEXT BOOK about the main characters, I'd skip this one. In TOP MEN, they can't even decide if they're DATING, and they can't even commit to moving in together and after a PHONE CALL, they get engaged AND MARRIED immediately afterwards. That's not bad enough (and that's plenty bad), but in the sequel, the author pretends their marriage never happened. It's literally like going back in time and erasing the previous plot and hoping we forget.

Listen sugar, blow jobs may distract them from the harsh reality of life, but they won't distract ME from the harsh reality that this book (and the sequel) SUCK.

But it could just be me. LOL.

I've read other works by the author that I actually enjoyed,, but I'll have to think carefully about future purchases.

Top Men by G.A. Hauser is the third book in the Heroes series and the first of G.A Hauser's books that I have read! I have to say that I was won over with the loveable characters of Mickey and Jeff. Theirs is a seriously erotic yet at times extremely volatile relationship that I was at certain moments not ready for. But in getting to know the characters I found that each scene was completely necessary in it's own way. Two cops, now partners, their relationship is new. As only a few weeks having revealed their sexuality to each other just a short time ago. Since then things have been hot and heavy, and that would be putting it lightly. They can't keep their hands off each other, which includes crime scenes and homes of suspects. Dangerous games these two are playing but that is part of their attraction to each other. The love spats Mickey and Jeff get into are downright fierce at times, always ending in some of the most erotic sexual encounters I have ever read. Part of their problem is that Mickey is done playing the dating game. He has found the man he wants to have a relationship with and that would be Jeff, thing is that Jeff is having a good time and doesn't want to settle down. Not that I he doesn't want Mickey and not that he isn't 100% faithful to him, but he isn't ready to commit and this causes a serious and potentially damaging problem for the two. Mickey has even asked Jeff to move in with him, but is completely re-buffed by Jeff. Mickey comes across to me as a complete sweetheart and although both are alpha males he seems a little softer to me and more open with his feelings. Often times with Jeff's aloofness this creates insecurities in Mickey which lead to a lot of their arguments.

Extremely sexually charged, witty, blatantly raw and necessarily so this is love story that will capture you and suck you in until the very last word. I so wanted to see them happy and for Jeff to see the light. Mickey was offering him his heart and at times I was so sure he wasn't going to take it. G.A. Hauser has a new fan in Book Junkie and now I just have to go back and read books 1 & 2 in the series. I can't wait!!!

I enjoyed this book the least of the 3 books in this series. There were aspects of this book that I did enjoy. As in book two, G.A. Hauser cleverly overlaps events in the book to integrate her MCs from all 3 books. The main reason I didn't like this book is because it didn't feel like a romance to me at all.

Unlike books one and two, this book opens up with the two MCs, Mickey and Jeff, already in a physical relationship as partners on the force. I think right off the bat, I didn't like the way they were so unprofessional at work, having sex while on duty whenever they could.

The main premise behind this book is that Mickey is trying to get Jeff to commit and Jeff is not ready to put all his eggs in one basket. This really bothered me about Jeff and I didn't like him the entire book.

This book also showed a side of Josh from book #1, Man to Man, that I really didn't like either. I thought Josh was really sweet in book one and he was always talking about how he had only been with 3 people his entire life before Tanner, but in this book, it was almost like we were reading about a different character. I'm not against voyeurism, but it just didn't feel like I was reading about the same person I loved from book 1.

The worst part about the book for me was that there was really too much sex. What? Who said that? It wasn't just the copious amounts of sex, it was also the amount of violent sex. I mean, when you are waving your gun at your lover, or you have your hand on their throat, or you are throwing them across the room, that's just a bit over the line for my personal tastes. I think the fact that Jeff and Mickey seemed to get off on the violent aspect of their sex life made me like them a little less as well. It made it seem as if their relationship really was only physical and they got off on the danger, but there wasn't much of an emotional connection.

4.5 stars... *headdesk*

I fall in love with Tanner and Josh, I survived Hunt and Blake and I was excited to read Mick and Jeff's book. I enjoy angst in books. And this really was ANGST. Sometimes I felt like I have PMS with Mickey *lol*. The emotions were very real for me. All and all the story is great and I love it so much. But...

I have just one issue with this book. No. Not the book. Most likely publisher. It wasn't rate properly for me. I hate threesomes, foursomes atc... I don't understand them so I'm trying to stay away from them. And that sex orgy at Blake's porch was too much for me. Six people. I know it wasn't cheating. I know they didn't touch each other, just their partners. But if it was properly rated I would have expected it and prepared myself. This way... I have to skipped all that part. I just have too. That sex scene just wasn't my cup of tea. Six people is too much. And I did the same with their bachelor party.

This book has a lot of very hot moments. While I'm no stranger to mild BDsM fiction, some of the violence of the sex did occasionally put me off. The characters are fairly well-developed if not forthcoming in their hang ups. I will admit that the HEA was just the mushy ending I wanted for them after all the pushing and pulling they did in the story.

I have stopped reading this book 3 times in favor of starting another book in the past 2 days...Its not terrible, just not that interesting.

Okay I finally got to the good part and all my favorite characters from other books made an appearance to get me rumbling through...the last half of this book was well worth the read.

Good lord boys.
Fight, fuck, make up.
Repeat.
Repeat again.
Repeat again and again.
Glad they finally pulled their heads out of their asses in the end, but lord it took them way too long of a cycle to get there.
Loved seeing the couples from 1 & 2 in there.

I must have missed something with this book because I really didn’t enjoy it. I usually love a steamy M/M romance as well. But I found the writing quite juvenile and stilted. The characters not fleshed out, and the constant bickering and sex scenes repetitive. I also thought there were so many gay stereotypes it was mind boggling. The underlying statement of basically gay men cannot keep it in their pants, the cliche Twink who is so outrageous, the whole masturbating over any good looking fella etc. I also found Josh kind of gross and incredibly annoying. The whole constantly having sex at work kind of got boring as well, they literally never stopped, and it was kind of ridiculous them going at it in people homes while on duty as cops, as well as disrespectful. They were slopp, and in no real world for how much they skivved off, would they have kept their jobs. I didn’t really like Jeff either, I don’t mind a person wanting to explore sexually options and have fun. That is fine, but then he shouldn’t have kept things up with Micky. I also found his attitude immature, he was not some young gun who had never had sex, yet he was constantly wanting to fuck anyone, masturbatingg over them, and generally wanting to get up on anything, like a teenager who just discovered he had a dick. It walls was all a bit extreme, he wanted to get with all the hotties in LA, as if they are a different species, he was in Seattle for goodness sake, not the back end of Georgia where he could only sleep with one person in private due to backward thinking! It was all extreme and sloppy and I just don’t get the characters,
Or what the attraction was for Micky!

Okay. I'm done.

"I feel like I know you for longer than three months ..."

Really? Either the author is ESL or an LA cop named Mickey is. Hmm. What are the odds? Slim. This is just piss poor transcription and/or editing. How about, "I feel like I've known you for longer than three months ...." Was that so hard? And HOW did someone not catch that? Maybe I'm just peeved because this is the third book with the previous two having some similarly glaring issues, and now I'm just done with it, I don't know. But a few pages in? Come on! At least get lazy with the proofreading and editing towards the end when you're just as bored as the rest of the readers.

So ... poor editing aside. I wanted to shoot Jeff. If any person, much less people who are partners as cops in life or death situations, wants to do a no strings thing, FINE! But talk about it up front. Don't just eyeball every piece of man candy in sight minutes after having your junk serviced by your work partner who has real feelings for your skanky butt. If it were me and I moved to Cali from Seattle wanting to sample the ample goods, I seriously doubt I would think it was smart in any universe to make my police officer partner a freaking booty call off-duty and a hookup on-duty too! What a schmuck. Also, the prior two books teased these characters, but the impression was that they were maybe gay and if so, probably together but keeping a RELATIONSHIP under wraps because of the job. Oh no. What we have is an indiscriminating playboy getting his cake with his partner while looking for second dessert everywhere he goes including AT WORK WITH SAID PARTNER who is unfortunate enough to actually want everything from this little pissant. Yep. Done.

The only thing in this book that agreed with me was this statement from Jeff: "You sound like a broken record."

Because hell, this entire book is a bad record on repeat.

It goes like this:

1. First Mick will throw a girl tantrum about how Jeff doesn't want to commit after 3 months of constant sex.

2. They get in a fight.

3. Jeff shows up at Mick's place.

4. They fuck like bunnies.

And in between step one and step two and step three and step four, there will be one sex scene after another. I'm not sure if this one can even be called porn without plot because frankly, it was just porn.

Lots and lots of porn.

I could write an entire essay on all the things that are wrong with Mick, but I'll just keep it short.

I have never seen a man who is less a man than this. Let's see. He wants like, a commitment ceremony and moving in and roses and shit after three months of good sex with a fuck buddy. He throws tantrums at the drop of a hat and basically whine and bitch until Jeff finally gives in.

Then he gives Jeff a hard time about wanting to have sex with everybody and then he goes ahead and kiss a guy anyway. (on second thought maybe this is quite realistic)

Not only that, for a pair of cops who hate that people make a fetish out of their jobs, they sure do do it themselves. If I had to count the amount of times they yell 'you dirty dirty cop' at each other... Well, let's just say I don't have enough appendages to count it.

Verdict: You can read this book, or you can watch porn. It's about the same thing, and porn is probably less repetitive.

I liked all of the books in the Heroes series from this author, with #2 being my favorite, this would have been a close 2nd and I would have rated it 4 stars, except for the appearance of the couple from the 1st book and a plot development with this couple that seemed out of character with how they were characterized in their book (it just seemed cheap and unnecessary). That book, “Man to Man”(which also sports one of the worst covers I have ever seen, btw…), depicts a relationship developing b/w a straight and very manly lifeguard, Tanner and Josh an openly gay man. Tanner had been married and was divorced because his spouse had cheated on him.

I should have known better then to read this after reading the reviews. I can't believe I'm saying this but there was way too much sex or should I say violent sex and Jeff was such an asshole and prick. This is why I've stopped reading series by Ms. Hauser, the first one or two in the series start out good but then everyone starts to sleep with everyone else and the couples in the first books act way out of character. I didn't even recognize Josh and Tanner, and Josh's behavior, yeah it was bad, I couldn't believe the way Josh acted and that Tanner seemed okay with his slutish behavior especially seeing how Tanner felt about his wife's infidelity. This book just ruined Josh and Tanner's book for me. Worse book ever and I was truly disappointed.

I had high hopes for this one since I love hot cops doing each other and while I think the book had great potential, it's obvious it wasn't edited at all! Misspellings, choppy sentences, long passages of passive voice made this read a very difficult one for me. Not sure what happened with this book and the editorial staff but was disappointed as I really enjoyed this series.
