Start the Crock-Pot. Go to the bank during lunch. Pick up cat food. Take Emily to ballet at 5:00. Go to choir practice. Run the dishwasher. Remember to breathe sometime today.... Today’s Christian women are busy. They’re wives, moms and businesswomen. They juggle families, careers, responsibilities and harried schedules. They look after the best interests of others, but have little time for themselves. Be Still...and Let Your Nail Polish Dry is a devotional designed for today’s busy women—women who need a moment to relax, refresh and think about their own spiritual well-being. With contemporary, upbeat, humorous devotions from beloved authors Andrea Boeshaar, Sandie Bricker, Debby Mayne and Loree Lough, women will renew their spirits and grow closer to God in the time it takes to paint a set of fingernails.
Andrea Kuhn Boeshaar has been married for more than 30 years. She and her husband, Daniel, have three adult sons, daughters-in-law, and two precious grandchildren. Andrea's educational background includes the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, where she studied in English, and Alverno College where she studied in Professional Communications and Business Management.
Andrea has been writing stories and poems since she was a little girl; however, it wasn't until 1984 that she started submitting her work for publication. Eight years after that, she was convicted about writing for the Christian market. She read books in her genre (Inspirational Romance & Women's Fiction), studied the market, and worked hard to hone her craft.
This book was gifted to me, and at first I was admittedly thrown off by the title. I've never been very much of a "girly-girl". However, the stories and collections contained between this book's pages more than make up for the title. They were inspiring, and many of them I "coincidentally" read right at the time I needed the message the devotion contained. This book actually helped get me through parts of a rough year, and I even shared a few of the stories with my husband. Some of them hit home for him too. We've struggled a lot spiritually, and with constant challenges. It was nice and refreshing to read this book. It was something managable that I could read a page or two of every day, and soon it became a habit. I've had it on the shelf for over a year. If I had known it was going to be this good, I would have read it sooner. I think it sat on my shelf for a reason though, and I couldn't be happier that I began reading this when I did. Not all of the stories inspired or comforted me (specifically the ones about the Wild West and cowboys), however, I understand the purpose and am grateful for it. Many of them were very relevant and inspired a lot of hope (something that has been hard to come by lately). Thank you to all the ladies who wrote this book. I know of at least two more lives it has touched.
Being a busy mom, wife, and busy with life in general--it can be hard to carve out time in your day to do something for yourself. However, this devotional gave me a gift each day when I opened it and took the time to reflect on the devotionals shared but also be in God's word. It was the perfect way to start my day each morning and only took between 5-10 minutes to do.
The devotionals are not dated, or restricted to a month, which I loved right away. Some days I could read a few pages and other days I could barely get through one. I like the prayers at the end and each scripture at the beginning of each one. I will be reading this again.
I love reading!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I loved this book of thoughts of each author on drawing closer to God, spending and enjoying more time with family and friends and just being an encouraging book.
I really love this book. It maybe short but the devotions have big messages. I would recommend it to every woman who needs a little uplifting. This book is my all time favorite. I could not put it down. I also can't believe I read it in 2 days.
I loved this book. I could relate to so many of the stories which the authors share. For me, a devotional should be something that pulls me in and tells a modern-day story with applications to our Christian life. I read my Bible when I want to read Bible stories. This was perfect for me.
I really enjoyed reading the devotions each morning. I started this book in 2015 but did not finish it. This year I was determined to finish it and I am so glad that I did.
