This story teaches the value of helping others, something that everyday heroes do. It is recommended for children ages 5 and up. Tom was an orphan boy who believed he was not special. But deep down in his heart, he really, really wished he were. He just did not know how. Then one day, he heard Sir Nicholas speak of what makes a hero. And Tom knew right away he wanted to be one. This was his chance to be special. And he cannot wait to start! So Tom tries to do all the things Sir Nicholas did. But will he succeed? Or will he finally realize that different people are heroes for different reasons. And maybe, he was already a hero just by being himself.
