Vela Roth manifested unstable writing powers at a young age, and many of her early experiments had unintended results. As she grew, a curriculum of fantasy novels with kickass heroines helped her learn to control and wield her abilities.

Eventually she dared pursue the knowledge inside the most forbidden tomes: romance novels. She's been practicing the dark arts of fantasy romance ever since, but she strives to use her novels only for good.

She lives in a solar-powered writer's garret at the foot of the mountains. Her familiar is a rescue cat with a missing fang and a huge heart. When not typing furiously at her manuscript, she can usually be found gaming on her home-built PC or trying to grow roses in the desert.

This keeps getting better and better

Kingdom at the brink of war and a long list Queen is back to reclaim it.

Cassia and Lio have returned with Solia, who is determined to save Tenebra from itself. But they have to navigate the cutthroat politics and find the Gift Collector hiding in their midst, possessing his victims.

This is my favourite book so far, and I only hope Cassia finds a way to reclaim her Lustra magic. I would hate for her to come all this way only to have to sacrifice such an important part of herself in the end.

I am not ashamed to say I cried at the end - full snot tears so I had to stop reading because my eyes were getting blurry.

Now for a theory - the reason the Old Master is so intent on possessing a Silvicultrix (Cassia) is because of her ancestress, the one who fought them so long ago. I posit that she made some sort of a spell that prevents the Old Masters from fully claiming Tenebra and Cordium while her bloodline still has their magic. Also, could this one perhaps be distantly related to Cassia? It's the sort of mind-blowing twist I would love to see from Vela Roth. I look forward to finding out if my theory is correct.

Can't believe this has only just come out, I don't know how long I can wait for the next book to come out.

This gets all the stars for me. It will be hard to review without spoilers, but if you're this far into the series looking at reviews, you probably know at least generally what's up.

Blood Gift is probably my favorite installment in the Blood Grace series so far. Book 7 was filled with all the things I love about this series: beautifully complex relationships, so much found family, a timeless romance, strong and sassy and murdery women, putting the patriarchy in it's place. This was probably the most action packed book of the series, and even though I never wanted Cassia to be forced back to Tenebra, at least she got to do it with Solia and Lio at her side. Having an entire book of the three of them together was wonderful. I loved watching their relationships grow and witnessing the protective angst between Lio and Solia.

The last 20% had me on the edge of my seat, and the ending was what we've all been waiting for. I cannot recommend this series enough.

My only complaint is that I selfishly really need to know what happened to "Lord Lucis" there at the end. Also I wanted more Tendo. :(

I love this series, but this book frustrated me a bit.

Really it revolves entirely around Cassia’s sister and her poor attitude towards Lio, choosing to ignore their bond and that they literally need each other to survive, and the fact that they fell in love first before realizing that they are connected so deeply. Lio’s frustration was palpable and rightly so. I was also really irritated by it. The story dragged because of this.

So much it got to the point where I had to put my kindle down in frustration so many times and walk away for a few minutes before continuing on.

Some of the twists that were introduced were fun, but they didn’t have the same effect as previous books.

And if I’m honest, Cassia’s gifting taking place as it did was rather unsatisfactory. We were building and building and then it ended up feeling rather “meh”, which was disappointing. So much emphasis on her getting her magic to realize it’s rather pointless was a let down too.

3.5 stars for me.
(Goodreads really should make it so we can give half ratings instead of rounding up or down)

Our 7th installment of the Blood Mercy series leads us back to Tenebra which is no easy thing to consider when it means potentially walking right into a deadly necromancer’s path. Will Lio’s blood and Hespera’s gift of eternal life be enough to save Cassia from the master of death?

I absolutely loved this installment even though I dreaded going back to Tenebra. IYKYK But, having not just the expected crew but also the Ashes was an unexpected surprise. I don’t know if Vela Roth could introduce me to a character I don’t like! (Chrysanthos-stan here) Up until this series we have had several unanswered questions and in this book we finally get some answers no matter how hard it might be to accept for some of our characters. In Tenebra, where a woman’s weaving room is more dangerous than the tournament field, we get to revisit Cassia’s past and uncover more than just what she remembers. One thing I love about sequels/continuations in series is when books have their character’s consequences from the previous book/s and Blood Gift DELIVERS CONSEQUENCES. YOU GET A CONSEQUENCE AND YOU GET A CONSEQUENCE!

Excuse me now as I mourn the time to wait until the next book. (But still patiently because every minute is worth the wait! )

This series just keeps getting better and better. This truly has everything I love in a fantasy series—intricate world building, an interesting magic system, politics, a steamy romance, feminine rage, and amazing found family. Vela Roth has truly crafted such a complex world with so many complex layers with a gripping plot to match.
CASSIA IS FINALLY A HESPERINE!! This series has such a unique take on vampire transformations, and I loved getting to be with Cassia and Lio throughout the process. I can’t wait to see what Cassia accomplishes as a Hesperine.
I loved finally having Solia back. I love how protective she is of Cassia. She stepped into her role as the rightful queen of Tenebra so well, and I hope this means that we’re going to see a lot of good change there
The final 20% of this book had me on the edge of my seat. Everything was going wrong, and I didn’t see a way out of the situation. I still have so many questions about what occurred at the siege, but I’m sure I’ll be getting those answers in the next book

This series is seriously giving me book hangover! Lio is one sweet thing. To be loved that much, ugh!

Blood Gift, the seventh book in this enchanting series, continues to captivate readers with its mesmerizing blend of magic, romance, and perilous adventure.

The story revolves around Cassia, a young woman grappling with her dual legacies - an ancient dormant magic waiting to be unleashed and the bloodright to become an immortal Hesperine, much like her beloved Lio. As they navigate the treacherous path towards her mastering of the dormant magic, the narrative beautifully unfolds into a tale of self-discovery, sacrifice, and undying devotion.

The chemistry between Cassia and Lio is palpable, and the author skillfully builds their relationship through the challenges they face together. Lio's unwavering commitment to protecting Cassia is both swoon-worthy and commendable, adding depth to their love story.

@velarothauthor expertly weaves intricate world-building and vivid descriptions, transporting readers to a magical realm filled with wonder and danger. The lush prose and well-developed characters immerse readers into a captivating reading experience that leaves a lasting impression.

A beautiful continuation of Cassia and Lio’s story. They have to fight so hard for all that they want and it feels more hard earned when it finally comes to pass. This was a long, long book and felt like so many multiple books. Vela Roth is excellent at plot twists and I rarely, if ever, see things coming. A beautiful
and well written series overall, with lovely elegant prose, fun action, real enemies and intrigue all set in a fantastic supernatural world. This is high quality fantasy romance and I will always have mad respect for Vela Roth’s writing talents. Start off with the first in the series and you won’t want to stop until you reach the very end. I am excited for the next installment.

A long lost queen has returned to claim her throne whilst her kingdom is on the brink of war.

It’s going to be very difficult to write any review without any spoilers, but this has easily been my favourite book of the series so far.

Again, Roth has a magic way of writing all of her characters, not just the main ones - her side characters are so well developed that at this point you feel you know and love them well.

It’s a cliffhanger, but one with a slight happy ending - even so, I still do not want to wait for the next one so let’s hope it’s released soon!

A fantastic continuation of an always enthralling series. This chapter in Lio and Cassia’s story is full of more danger, intrigue, and revelations about their place in the world. I was both very content with the events that transpired while still finding myself eagerly looking forward to the next installment.

wow. it’s been a while since the last time i read a book series with this much attention to details about the magic world, construction of relationship between characters, and just the emotion appeal of it all. I feel like many fantasy books recently are written with the goal of making the most badass female character out there, and to read one where all the protagonist wants is peace and gardens and family and love feels so fresh and needed. I really appreciate this book and all it made me feel. I really appreciate all the attention put into creating the world building and magic system. Most of all, I appreciate Lio, Cassia, Solia, Mak, Lyros, Zoe, Kalos, and every single one of these amazing characters I had no idea I needed to met this much. I can barely wait for the next one and please bring me more!!!

This book was healing in the most beautiful way. I read the first 6 books last year so I had a lot of time to think about book 7. This is my all-time favorite series and it feels like home.

I thought there was going to be a lot more pushback from Solia about taking the throne, I'm glad there wasn't. The fact that Solia and the Ashes got to go to Orthos *sobbing violently* I was apprehensive about them going back to Tenebra because i hate that my parents have to hide their love smh.

I love the new aspect of the Lustra magic and what it means for Cassia, totally fits her as a person. Vela does a beautiful job at connecting things without making them feel forced!

When Solia said "Papa" I literally had to closed the book and cry for a few minutes. The fact that Cassia's found family is now becoming her too is incredible. They both deserve it after dealing w their bitch of a dad.

The gifting ---- girl. Beautifully executed and so detailed with all the senses changing, it made me feel like I was there with them.

I cannot wait for book 8, hoping to sneak into Velas street team by then : )
Romance : 5/5

There was so much that happened in Blood Gift by Vela Roth that felt as if they had been building towards throughout the last number of books and it had me on the edge of my seat. There was a culmination of so many things that had been introduced in previous books and returned in some manner, and for this reason consider this my spoiler warning for those who might not have caught up on all the books yet, and proceed with extreme caution.

As much as I have loved the time spent in Orthros, it was actually very welcome to return to Tenebra in this book. So much has changed, particularly for Cassia, and to return to the place that was never really home for her with the new eyes she has gained from all of her experiences, in Orthros and the Empire felt very right. Cassia has grown so much and you can really see that in this book as she faces parts of her past, while trying to grasp her future, and it was such a juxtaposition from her time in Tenebra prior to leaving for Orthros, and where she is as a person now, returning to Tenebra. It’s even more meaningful because she has returned to claim her birthright, the magic she has discovered she possesses but requires a letting spot that can only be found in Tenebra. It seems only right that she must return to the place she was born, and of her ancestors to find the key to her magic and finally take ahold of the gift she has inherited from her mother.

The Collector is another returning figure and it was satisfying to have this big bad enemy back on the scene after how things were left the last time he made an appearance. The last couple of books took a different direction away from this storyline for a bit, and this was a big part of the reason I loved the book prior to them, so having it come back really excited me because I wanted very much to know more of this enigmas plans. Some of the plot was finally revealed as well and made so many things come together that had me devouring this seventh installment and needing more. I cannot wait to see where this battle takes Lio and Cassia because this storyline has me so invested and I was so happy to get more answers finally.

Then there is Solia. It was so satisfying to get more time figuring out who Solia has become in all the years she and Cassia have been separated, and to see her fight to take on the role that she was always expected to uphold, despite the differing plans she herself held. I was so curious to see more of Solia after the big reveal of her whereabouts, and this book was exactly what I needed. Furthermore, seeing Cassia and Solia work to rebuild their relationship after so many years apart, which involved the odd bit of stumbling, was very heartwarming after learning how much Cassia has always looked up to her sister and mourned her supposed death from book one.

And finally, FINALLY, there’s the gifting. I’m not going to go into detail, other than, for me, the way it comes about almost felt more right than the couples initial attempt at the gifting. Maybe it’s the couple themselves, and everything they’ve been through, but the events that bring it about just seemed fitting somehow for Cassia. I almost feel like it wouldn’t have felt right any other way. In my eyes anyway.

All together I absolutely loved every minute of Cassia’s journey towards finding her magic and trying to figure out how to claim it. It was such a compelling storyline and having such a deep focus on the possibility of her magic was so intriguing to me after so many books where it seemed as if she held no capacity for magic, or may never discover she had any, having it be such a main part of her journey in Blood Gift was one of my favourite parts of it. Not to mention all of the information learned and new kinds of magic discovered because of this journey. As it ties so vitally to her past and her ancestors history, this also made the storyline even more interesting as it gave further details on a part of Cassia not delved deeply into before now. Everything, all the reveals to die with her magic were just beautiful and so well done. I especially loved close to the end of the book when parts of her past are discovered that had me both beside myself and also held that “Aha!” moment of discovery and a number of details coming together, especially as I was able to piece them together as the story went based on these clues. I loved every minute of it.

I’m still not entirely over this book, especially with where things left off and I honestly don’t know how I’m going to wait for the eighth installment in this series. As always I cannot get enough of Hespera, and Cassia and Lio (and Knight because let’s be real, he’s my favourite). Blood Gift was another incredible read and I eagerly await Vela Roth’s next book.

Fuck it. I'm giving this book 5 stars. This series has been the most unexpected surprise. The first couple books were so so hard to get through. Nothing but dialogue. No real action happened. Constant info dumps. It was too much. But the the past 3-4 books, have been so magical. The constant dialogue and insights into every thought the character had actually has made me fall so deeply in love with them. I feel so connected to them. And these books have some how made blood play sexy. I will never understand.

Cassia and Lio bring Solia to Othoros. She is determined to be queen. She also has some answers about Cassia's magic that she learned from Cassia's Mother. Cassia needs a letting site so her magic can awaken. But the only letting sites are in Tenebra. So off they go.

Tyron, who Cassia set up originally to be king, refuses to give up. So Solia and him have to wait for the Free Lords to vote. Meanwhile, Cassia and Lio are searching desperately for a letting site. Cassia keeps getting sicker and sicker and can't be away from Lio. They discover that without her magic, she is using Lio to fill the space. They are quickly running out of time to save her.

Tyron also refuses to let Cassia be free of their betrothal. Finally, after Cassia faints because Tyron wouldn't let her leave his side, Lio challenges him to a duel. Winner gets Cassia. Of course Lio wins and the whole world must acknowledge that Cassia and Lio are a couple.

Solia has Lio doing a bunch of test to prove he is worthy of Cassai. Solia doesn't like Lio at first because she feels like he is the reason for Cassia's suffering. She also feels like he takes away choices from her just by being alive.

The king finally attacks the council. Tyron ends up supporting Solia and she is crowned Queen. Lio and Cassia are trying to get everyone away from the keep to safety. A girl named Miranda, says she can take them to the kings hunting cottage that she has kept hidden with spells. She does take them there but then attacks them. The hunting cottage is a letting site.

Cassia and Lio escape but Cassia is on the verge of death. Lio takes her home and starts to change her. During her change she has memories restored to her. She remember the collector had all ready taken her magic from her when she was 14. Through the change she does get her plant magic back, but not her animal magic or sooth saying. Lio is determined to retrieve them, but Cassia isn't concerned. She is happy with her plant magic.

Lio won my heart in this book. Actually, both main characters did. I couldn't get enough of their endless love for each other. How sweet Lio was while Cassia was so frail and sick. My tender heart could barely handle all the cuteness. I do wish we could've gotten more from Mac and Lyros.

The enchantments of the Empire, the enlightened dreams of Orthros, and the violent shadows of Tenebra dance together to create this beautiful anthem of Blood Grace, a gift to bewitched readers who hold the book with hope-strengthened hands and eager hearts.

The tender moments within this story were filled with true love and exceptional intimacy, but they stood equal to the threats that were levelled at the characters we love the most, and with this delicious elixir of affection and tension, readers are left drunk on a story that leaves the promise of a wicked hangover and an enlightened mind. The conflict and suspense are woven so intricately that no matter what kind of scene is being read, it feels like destruction and devastation are just a breath away. It almost feels like, if you were to turn your head to the side just quickly enough, you’d see the Collector lurking in the shadows or the king just beyond the wards, not visible enough to make you question if they’re really there…but just visible enough to make you question your sense of security. Conversely, the love that is written is so powerful, so divine, that no matter the conflict, I know that all is well. So even if one does turn their head and finds the shadows hiding the Collector or finds the king making his way through the wards, they know that the characters they love are held by an indestructible love and are untouchable, which means that the readers, too, are untouchable and safe.

One can identify with the sense of retribution and rebirth placed over these characters, as they are the same ones that so many readers have placed over them in their own lives (whether by their own hands or by others). We, as readers, are inspired to call upon our own magic and fight these foes for the sake of love alongside Cassia and Lio.

The book feels familiar but so completely new at the same time. This book takes some of the very best characters, moments, lessons, and locations and weaves them together to create a tapestry that is so distinctly Blood Grace. We began in love and, through the ascendency of love over darkness, we were carried so beautifully to an end that was transcendent.

Exquisite attention to detail, absolute integrity of emotion, the unparalleled and untouchable thread of love that held every sweet and anxiety-inducing moment made it a privilege to behold this story. Vela’s brilliance never fails to astonish me. The greatness of Blood Grace never fails to bewitch me. Reading these books allows readers to feel every exquisite expression of human emotion, a true testament to the essence of escapism.

I CANNOT wait for the next book in this brilliant series!

Cassia has come so far. Watching her fully reject the throne of Tenebra in front of an Empress and her own blood was powerful. This wasn’t just about refusing power. It was about choosing her people, her purpose, and herself. She stands tall and proud and completely hers. “I and all my descendants will be Hesperines” wasn’t just a declaration. It was a release. And you could feel the weight lifting as she finally let go of something that was never meant for her.

Lio continues to be one of the most romantic and supportive love interests I’ve ever read. He doesn’t just fight for Cassia. He stands beside her every step of the way. Even when the politics get ridiculous and her sister starts demanding trials like it’s ancient Rome, he does it all without complaint. The trial by combat scene made me grin so hard. He wipes the floor with Flavian using elegance and control. It wasn’t about brute force. It was confidence. Style. Love. And a little well-earned smugness.

That said, I have a lot of feelings about Solia. I get that she’s powerful and important and she loves her sister in her own way. But demanding that Lio complete five labors to prove himself? It just felt so tone-deaf. They are supposed to believe in choice and free will, yet here she is placing unnecessary conditions on her blessing like she’s some divine gatekeeper. Her holier-than-thou energy is exhausting.

Then we have Tendo. His scenes gutted me. His grief, his fury, his broken trust. He spent years trying to rescue someone he thought was imprisoned and suffering, only to find out she was fine and never told him. “I gave more than just years to the cause of rescuing her.” That line cracked something in me. You can feel how much he loved her. How much it destroyed him to be left in the dark. He deserves so much more than just an apology. I really hope she does the work to earn his forgiveness.

The final stretch of the book hit hard. Cassia is dying. Her magic hasn’t awakened. Everything is falling apart. And Lio is desperate. “She’s dying. I failed her.” That moment hurt. But he doesn’t fail her. He gives her the Gift. He brings her home. And when she comes back, it’s electric. The hunger. The strength. The love. It was everything.

And somehow, after all the intensity, we’re left with this small, perfect moment. Cassia choosing to be content with her garden magic. “I don’t need more and more affinities in order to be happy.” That landed so deeply. She finally sees the beauty in what she has, and it feels like peace.

“Fall in love with me all over again”

The entire series is like therapy for me. This is how found family should be done. This is how casual everyday diversity should be done. This is how love, loss, longing, and joy should be done. I spent the first few chapters crying and squealing with pure joy. I missed these characters. I missed Orthros. I missed Zoe and Mak and Lyros. Cassia and Lio. Their parents. Their aunts and uncles and cousins. Sisters and brothers. It felt like a homecoming. And I loved every minute of it. Thank you to Ms. Vela for sending me this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The happiness waned as we entered the hell that was the conflict. I am outdone by these plot twists x reveals. Holy hell. The rivalries between Lio and Solia, Solia and Monsoon, Cassia and her magic, and Lio and his self-confidence/insecurities, are perfectly entangled with the larger plot and conflict between Cassia and her father and this multi-regional conflict with the Cordian mages, the Empire, Orthros, and Tenebra.

The world-building is fantastic (as per usual). Cassia's magic opens an entirely new world with new rules and surprises and chaos. I love how interconnected the world-building and character developments are. With every stride we take towards a deeper understanding of the various environments, we also learn more about the characters. With each discovery, our images of the characters change. We learn that Lio may be physically strong, but he's still working on his emotional strength. He can be strong for others but is often unable to carry that certainty inwards to nurture himself. We learn that Cassia is powerful beyond measure, but only as a result of the things she's given up. We watch her make sacrifice after sacrifice, as she fails to realize her actions are truly unselfish. Lio and Cassia are so similar, and yet different and their love is a reflection of that.

The romance, the intimacy, the relationships.... top tier. There's nothing else to say. I have never been so in love with someone else's love. Cassia and Lio love each other unconditionally in the most beautiful way. But they also love others outside of their relationship with the same strength and ferocity. It is so amazing to see different types of love equally represented and prioritized. Familial, platonic, and romantic intimacy are designed and positioned thoughtfully and with care. There is nothing reckless about the way Solia and Cassia protect each other or accidental in Lio's relationship with Eudias or inauthentic in the bonds between Hesperine Graces.

I'm aware that this has become less a review and more a love letter to this series, its characters, its world, and its author, and I'm okay with that. I will say that the pacing lagged a bit when finding out new information about Cassia's magic and anything to do with Flavian (mostly because I hate him), but the twist with the deranged individual near the end completely made up for it. I was terrified through that entire ordeal, but the soft ending delivered everything I have waited 7 books for.

Thanks again to Vela Roth for the ARC and a beautifully written story.

I realize I have not submitted a review on any of the books in this series, which is sad of me because I adore Lio (ML) and Cassia (FL), and their strive for peace between their homelands. But, anywhooo, Vela Roth has outdone herself again. I am typically not one for political intrigue, but Vela eloquently sucks you in to the complex affairs between two very different worlds; 1) humans and 2) Hesperines (elegant, warm-hearted, highly intelligent, and magical vampires).

Choppy spoilers ahead.

The last 20% of the book had me on the edge of my seat. IT WAS VERY EXCITING!!! However, war is coming and I am genuinely worried about what will happen to Lio and Cassia. I cannot wait for the next installment.

"Fall in love with me all over again." UGH. I DIED. Could a male lead be any more romantic and devoted??!

Hmm... I liked many things about this entry, but for everything I liked, I had a weirdly bigger con/annoyance...

-We get to see Solia and Cassia's sisterly dynamic after all this time apart
*But then we get this whole "how well do you really know my sister?" bit that Solia puts Lio through, with not only physical trials, but straight-up questions about how he and Cassia met.
-Cassia finally becomes a Hesperine
*But the build-up of seven books makes me go "Umm... yes... s-she sure is."
-This couple is never short on emotional or physical intimacy
*But... and I know this is a bit odd, but because of the strict no risk of pregnancy with Hesperines, as well as this being the 7th book in a seemingly never-ending series, the sex scenes are often repetitive/with no consequence or tension. I'm ready for these two to have a discussion about children/future family. I would love a smaller book about this topic for the couple: how Cassia deals with being nervous about becoming like her own father, while Lio relishes the idea of fatherhood, leading them to an understanding of how they were raised emotionally different but came to the same species/wants. Or you know, have them be the exception to the rule.

While they are well-written (no character feels out of place from the OG book, and we do get great development between the couples), it's often over stuffed with plot. And it doesn't help that:

1. Nearly every book's final line could be the series finale
2.With this book in particular, what with Cassia being Hesperine, where will the story go? Can the 8th be the finale (I'm hoping for yes)?

I know there are many fantasy romance fans who'd love endless amount of time with the characters, but it feels like the series is beginning to wear thin for me. Will I buy the 8th book? *sigh* All signs point to yes.

I love these books, I feel like they’re slept on which is quite sad because they’re magical.

The political intrigue, the world building, complex lovable characters. That are both believable and kinda irritating at times what else could I want?

This book is good, probably one of the strongest in the series and it pulls back the curtain for us to see what the antagonist has actually had a hand in and what to expect in the MCs future.

This installment is largely political intrigue and we meet a new important character. WITHIN the political bits we see Cassia and Lio grow in their relationship where they make mistakes and figure out how to do the whole relationship thing with conflicting ideas/plans/expectations. I love their growth in this book.

HOLY SPOILERS BATMAN.

DON’T LOOK.

YOU’VE BEEN WARNED MULTIPLE TIMES HERE. ITS NOT MY FAULT IF YOU KEEP READING.

CASSIA FINALLY RECEIVES HESPERA’S GIFT. I’ve been waiting for this forever and it was magical. I do wish we could have seen her as a Hesperine a little more but I guess I can wait for the next book.

With how it occurs for Cassia I do have questions on how children/babies receive the gift and if it’s as dramatic / painful / intense for them. The way it was described for Cassia was interesting how it occurred in stages and essentially by biological system, I don’t think that would be enjoyable for a baby/toddler. I can’t wait to see her interact with her sister and Orthos family as a Hesperine. Yayyyy.

We were left with the rapprochement between the two sisters, Solia and Cassia, within the Empire. But another threat draws their attention and that of the Hesperines: dethrone the tyrant of Tenebra and crown the rightful ruler.
Thus begins the journey to the place where the fate of the kingdom will be decided and, above all, to try to discover the origins of Cassia's latent powers, before they spiral out of control...
Here, this volume did not fully convince me, compared to the previous ones. Compared to the events narrated so far, I received that information was not relevant to the difficulties encountered during the reading.
The clue part comes towards more than halfway through the book, where two big revelations come out: the Collector is still around, threatening Cassia's life; the betrothed of the minor princess does not want to give up his place to the queen or break off their engagement...
Lio and Cassia will have to roll up their sleeves on several fronts - friends and foes - in order to complete their missions and finally proceed with the Gift.

I hope there will be more movement in the sequel, as far as the open issues in this volume are concerned. The final part remains with a cliffhanger somewhat reminiscent of the first part of Stephanie Meyer's Breaking Dawn: a new beginning in Cassia's life, and a new dawn for the Hesperines and the human inhabitants of the surrounding lands

So here is my question why do we not have an issue with smexual situations in YA books as long as they create a language to get around using smexual words? Is it because we could not longer call it a YA book?
I suspect that the reason is it would then have to be classified as an adult book and we would expect some better writing and more rounded characters. Since even using plain language instead of a made up language this wouldn't fall under the smut category.

Heck you don't even have to read the book just read the blurb of the next one and save yourself 2 days of slogging through this miasma of poor writing just to find out.......gasp.......our main flat sorry excuse for FMC still has not resolved her issues though she finally gets the guy. And pretty tired of anytime things go slightly sideways she develops some new miraculous power, or her guy does.

7 books now and each time it feels like the author creates some new big bad and she gets some new power that leads to a new big bad which means getting a new power. Reading this book, and the series, felt like I was stuck in a Vampire the masquerade/DnD campaign from heck. Like our FMC and MMC trade in their experience points at the end of the book to unlock some new power and the dungeon master is being too generous with the experience points and powers he is letting them trade the points for.

This is the 7th book in the Lio and Cassia saga, and I fall in love with these characters and this world a bit more with every book! Reading these books always feels like coming home.
.
This book was an excellent combination of the political intrigue that the series started with and the adventure that has been rising in the last few books. There were so many clever machinations, new layers to the characters, and fresh twists to the storyline that kept me completely enthralled. There were ways that I had hoped certain things would unfold, and this book managed those things but BETTER. It just surpassed my hopes. And of course, that Vela brand of Hesperine steaminess!!
.
This is one of those series that when my mind drifts, this world is where it goes.
.
The writing is so beautiful, and I've been enamored of the world building since book 1, but the thing about this latest book was just how many emotions it evoked. I remember noting at one point that between a few chapters I had oscillated back and forth between having goosebumps, having tears well up, and then giggling over something. The feels were strong with this one.
.
Cassia has uncovered so much about herself, but there's still so much more of her past that's locked away. She'll need to uncover more to claim her magic and her fangs, and Lio will stop at nothing to make sure she joins his family with no compromise. But the elusive villain has more up his sleeve, and nothing will be easy.

Fated Mates Cassia and Lio’s story remains an awe inspiring read in this seventh book Blood Gift as it moves the heart and captures the mind with the amazing world building, symphonic prose and promise of an adventure into intrigue, steamy romance, action and bittersweet tidings that will hold the reader spellbound in what has evolved into a masterfully told epic.
All the threads have been woven throughout and slowly begin to come together in a climatic and satisfying way as Cassia must learn to master her magic before the final step to becoming an immortal Hesperine can be completed, yet nothing is ever easy for these two expertly crafted characters and their path to eternal happiness remains fraught with adversity and trials. I don’t know how the author keeps this storyline so fresh and mesmerizing, but she does to this readers delight!
This installment is a long and treasured read and I will say it ends on an HEA with the promise of some new and intriguing paths to walk in the next book which I have no doubt will deliver the same gorgeously vibrant narrative that has always served to take the reader on a Magnifique journey into another world.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The seventh book in the Blood Grace series has everything a reader needs from a Fantasy Romance. With the countdown to the Winter Solstice, Summer Solstice and Autumn Equinox, we follow Cassia and Lio as they navigate the political issues and see their love for each other ignite on a whole new level.
There is rivalry, danger, magic and the worldbuilding is excellent! With favourite tropes such as fated mates and found family, I was glued to the pages.

This is one of my favourite vampire series. I feel Roth created a world where readers easily get lost in the magic and get swept away by the characters and their charms.
Everything is taken to the next level - higher stakes, more passion, the craving for power and the suspense of Cassia's dormant magic. If there's one vampire series you need to read, it is this one! Add it to your TBR today. The entire series is available on Kindle Unlimited.

Many thanks to MTMC Tours and the author for gifting me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
