They were a cult of drugged-out zombies controlled by a manic who wanted one thing--to rule the world! — The Priory of Satan offered up the blood of innocent babies to the Prince of Darkness believing he would lead them to world domination. No one who defied them escaped their wrath. But when they kidnapped the daughter of cult deprogrammer Ben Dekker, they made a mistake that even the Devil could not set right.
Because Dekker knew a one-man death machine who could save his daughter and send the mindless Satanists to the infernal lord -- Coltray.

David Alexander (1907-1973) was an American newspaperman, horse-racing journalist and prolific novelist with an idiosycratic style. He was born and educated in Kentucky and at Columbia University. He ran tours in France and Belgium and married Alice Le Mere in Europe in 1930 before returning to a journalism career in the US. He wrote seven novels about a Broadway editor called Bart Hardin. Alexander served in the US Army during World War II. He was a freelance writer from 1945 to his death.
Not as over the top as David Alexander's Phoenix series. Not as action packed as his Nomad series. Still, a very fast paced action tale full of violence with a dash of sex. I don't know anything about the authors newer stuff. I am stuck on his 20th century gory outbursts.
This is book two in the short lived series. There is not much on history of the character Coltray. Maybe his background is taken care of in book one. Never the less, you don't need to read it to understand this volume. The hero here is named Stosh Coltray. The "Leathalist." He is on a talk show when this starts out. After his tapping is done, he stays to watch a show about cults and deprogramming cult members. Turns out, the deprogrammers kid is kidnapped by a satanic cult, so he asks Coltray to help. He gets Big Sister, a giant black man out of jail to join in the fun. This is when the action heats up.
This is a nice fast paced action book that hardly takes a breath. My only complaints would be that it lacks a strong backbone, meaning there is action but it's over to fast. Kind of like, "We got to get those people out of there." Next page, boom, they are out. Also the author is known for some wild stuff in his pages. This lacks a lot of that. It comes close at times, then backs away. The ending is wide open. You need to read book three to find out what happens. To bad I don't have it at this time. Still a good read. Sort of like a more violent and vicious A-Team episode.
Closer to a 2.5, it's typical of Alexander. Coltray, known as the Lethalist..., is teaming up with a cult deprogramer named Dekker. Dekker's daughter was kidnapped by a devil worshipping drug cult ran by a crazy rich guy who wants to rule the world. So now they, along with a giant black man named Sister John, are going after the cult and the mercenary army that the leader paid for.
Can't recommend it, it's just not that good. The writing is kind of silly, and the characters are cartoonish. The best you can say is that it moves right along and is a fast read.
