I was given this book by PR&ATR for an honest review, and I thank them for that!
you know, sometimes, you just need a book to wile away an hour (or two, depending on your reading speed!) that has an uncomplicated plot, nothing too deep and dark, that you can just shut the world off and visit with the characters?? THIS is such a book.
Destiny and her 2 friends, Felicia and Natalie, have spent a small fortune on a Valentine getaway, to get away from it all. only Mother Nature has other ideas, and their truck breaks down. the girls are rescued by Skylar, Matty and Miles. Something passes between Sky and Destiny, even though not a word is said. the girls are forced to retreat to Sky and Matty's cabin, to await Mother Nature finishing her hissy hit.
Bubbling under the surface, the tension between Sky and Destiny almost jumps off the page, also, the fact that both of these characters have been hurt before. it doesn't go into much detail about HOW they have been hurt, and that's just fine, because you don't really need it. the scenes between Sky and Destiny are well written, with all the emotions they are feeling coming across in all the right places. you get why they need to be with each other, but also why they don't want to, if you see what I mean?? sex is hot, but not too explicit, but its not needed in this book.
one thing I noted, and not really sure WHY I noted it! the F-word appears only a couple of times in the book, said by Destiny every time, and to me, it stood out. Now, don't get me wrong, some swearing is all well and good, but I just felt it was out of place in this story. just my opinion, and some other readers might not even notice it. I only DID because, like I said, out of place.
this is only a short story, approx. 100 pages, and I don't like the story would work as a longer book. also, is there a story for Matty and Felicia somewhere in there, especially after their accident??
