Cleaning the Frolicking Moose at night, renting the loft out by day, and sinking into my oils and charcoal drawings are really all I want out of life right now.
Simplicity and space.
Then Hawk walks in on a snowy night.
And suddenly everything is different.
Being a Mercedy isn't a blessing.
It's a bloody curse.
To the tune of several billion dollars. Don't get me wrong—I love my job. Sometimes, though, it might be nice to do something . . . different.
Enter Cora, for whom the word boring doesn't exist.
Not only does she rock my world, but a disaster of world-wide proportions is about to as well. I'm not ready, and neither is my company, nor the world.
When it comes right down to it, all that matters is Cora.
This is a clean, contemporary romance with sizzle and spice—but no sex scenes. Guaranteed bantering and happily ever after.
My world revolves around my husband (who is a major hottie), my precious kids, my Vizsla’s who act like children, and the mountains.
I wear hiking boots instead of heels when I need to feel powerful, and on a bad day, I love a weightlifting workout. Actually, I love it on a good day.
I don’t eat bread because my thyroid doesn’t like it, although there are days I miss it. Especially ciabatta. Sweet potatoes are kind of my thing. Cookies too.
I write because I never stopped.
Author of The Network Series, The Dragonmaster Trilogy, and The Coffee Shop Series.
I love Hawk and Cora's story, it's so totally worth the read. So fun for me, with all it's feels. Katie's easy way with storytelling had me feeling for and relating to adorably messed up characters, while happily reviling others. I'm already putting in reader-requests for stories of characters I met in the telling. Another gorgeous romance novel from Katie, my only disappointment was it finished.
In the tenth book of the coffee shop series by Katie Cross, Hawk, who runs a multi-billion dollar company, and Cora, an artist, find themselves weathering out a huge snowstorm together at the Whispering Moose.
This was an enjoyable read, as were all of the coffee shop books that I have read so far.
A blizzard brings people together in tight spaces. But can said blizzard keep those people together? Hawk and Cora have so many opportunities to find out but something seems to get in the way - billions of reasons! Their love story is epic and fun - you don't want to miss out!!!
What can I say? It’s a lovely love story. If you like a good romance, you have found one! This is the last book in a series that has had me swooning for a while. It can be read as a standalone. You get too see both sides of the story and get tangled in each side hahaha For me, the ending felt a bit rushed, a couple of loose threads, but overall I enjoyed reading this book! And could not put it down!
i usually love cross' stories but this... was weird. the 'villain' was so much storybook chliche i cringed hard, the problems they have is not talking and they both feel so immature. also their whole relationship is built on like 3 days? which also feels weird.
The entire Coffee Shop series has been phenomenal. All of these stories set in the small mountain town of Pineville are just beautiful, emotional, relatable—yet unique love stories. This is book ten and the last one in the series and her romance writing, at least for now. Bittersweet! ♥️
Things I Loved: -Truth or Dare -Art is layers -Declare yourself -“Hawk reminded me of an open book. Everything on the page before me was clear, no questions or vacancies. The truth laid bare. But other pages lay behind what I could glimpse, yet not read. He’d handpicked the area of his life I could safely view without diving deeper. More waited back there to explore.” -Same game, different rules -Bob Ross socks -Nicola -Noah -Cade -Diego -“You and I have different ways of showing love and we need to talk about that. Also, art galleries don’t work the way you want them to, and we should discuss that, too. And we will because it’s you and me. I’m here for it.” -The whole ending ♥️
You will find a snowed-in together (forced proximity), whirlwind romance, plus a side of secret billionaire and a bit of a second chance vibe in this book. There are laughs, deep feelings, plenty of swoon-worthy moments, a touch of suspense, and a sweet HEA in this book.
If you couldn’t tell from my list, there’s a whole bunch of great supporting characters in this one. Katie has knack for writing such relatable and real people into her stories. I loved that Cora was an artist—I related to her in many ways, some with the way she grew up. I took on more of her brother’s role in my own situation, but it was so therapeutic and good to read these characters.
Content: nothing beyond kissing & very mild swearing.
Trigger warning: MCs with unhealthy parent relationships. One with dealing with addiction, the other with manipulation. Things never get very detailed on either end.
Just such odd choices: 1. Why set it on the cusp of a global cardiac pandemic? I could understand if it was to provide cover for the timeline, or to explain why in a period of chaos, they fall in love so fast, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. (Also they come across more as disease profiteers than people trying to solve a crisis. YMMV.) 2. The subplot with the father is off the wall. Also, have the family chipped her or something? They seem to find her really quickly. 3. About half the book seems to be him avoiding her texts. They spend almost no time together. How are they in love? 4. Realistically, it's the story of how a mega corporation deals with a pandemic with some random romantic? encounters thrown in for color.
I will try another book in the series because I did enjoy the writing style.
Cora and Hawk come from different worlds, but on a snowed-in day or two, 48 hours together, they're just two people who meet and get to know each other in a coffee shop (where Cora lives in the upstairs flat), starting with a game of Truth or Dare. She makes an impression; different in a good way. Cora's got a solid sense of who she is... and who she isn't. She's independent, direct, a successful project-commissioned artist, isn't swayed by wealth, and trusts her instincts. It was a good read watching these two navigate. A bit suspenseful at one point, only to show bad guy influence. Have so enjoyed this Coffee Shop series, and hope there's another story coming--maybe with Hawk's brother. A story with Cora's brother and a reading of a will was hinted at also. Count me in!
Ok, so, like Cora, I’m not impressed with too much money either. I loved getting to know Cora, Hawk and the machinations of wealth. I loved learning about a company that wants to do good for the world. I loved the artistic process described because I am an artist too. I loved the falling apart and coming together. I loved that Cora was pretty solid in who she was and what she wanted in her life. Thanks for this one Katie!!
I loved this book. Hawk and Cora have come together under different circumstances, take what they can from the relationship, thinking that the weekend is all they will have. BUT, circumstances are never what they seem. You’ll love this story about each in their different elements, can they make it work? Read and find out.
I loved this story because Cora is not your typical be swept away because he is a billionaire not to give spoilers you will just have to find out how. Oh how I love this coffee shop in the mountains!
A hot mess... But in a good way. These two characters are just a hot mess, I don't know a better way to put it! When things to this fast there is bound to be confusion. Glad they worked it out in the end.
All of the Coffee Shop series books are wonderful! You and Me is the brilliant ending of the series. The plot skates the edge of reality, but the the amazing characters make this story impossible to put down.
A powerful connection in inly twenty four hours during a huge snowstorm. Will it be enough for Cora and Hawk, or will their different realities keep them apart? Showing and accepting love is a challenge but worth the fight for.it.
The Coffee Shop Girl series is such a wonderful bunch of books to curl up with! Cora and Hawk are a sweet couple and there's plenty of forced proximity and a difference in classes. I loved seeing their relationship blossom. These are sweet romance novels that don't skimp on the emotion.
Perfect title for the book! I’m so sad to be finished with this series. I loved Cora! She’s a delightful character and her independence is very refreshing in a modern clean romance.
