It's hard to put into words how incredible this book is, but I'm going to try!

I was super excited to read Ascend because I am obsessed with The Blaze Legacy series and had to know what happens after the cliffhanger at the end of Scale. I was not prepared for how much more I was going to fall in love with the world and these characters. I also was not prepared for the ending. I figured there would be a cliffhanger, because Lauren is the queen of amazing cliffhangers, but OMG I was not expecting to be sobbing by the end 😭 It's a testament to how well this series is written, that I have become as emotionally invested as I have in the story and the characters.

There were so many other things I loved as well. I liked all the side missions everyone went on to the different parts of Celaria. We got to learn a lot more about the world and different magic systems and it was amazing. The romance and spice were top notch.🔥 The reveals throughout were shocking. 😳 And of course, my favorite fiery phoenix man continued to be the best.

I don't know how I'm going to be able to wait for the sequel because I am in shock and need to know what happens next!

Thank you so much to L.R. Friedman for the ARC in exchange for my review ❤️

I WASN'T READY FOR THIS! How am I supposed to wait until 2024!? The wait is killing me, and I genuinely fear I won't last until the release of the next book. If there's any chance of getting an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) to ease my suffering, I'll be the first in line. After the rollercoaster of emotions in the last chapters, I'm left emotionally shattered.

Let's talk about the elements that make this series an absolute gem. Romance? Check. Magic? Check. Fae? Check. Dragons? Check. It's like the perfect checklist for a fantasy lover, and L. R. Friedman has masterfully written this gem.

The world-building is nothing short of spectacular. She has created a universe that feels rich, and incredibly vivid. Every detail, from the magical system. to the map that adds layers of depth to the storytelling. It's a world I find myself getting lost in!

Character development is another shining aspect of this series. The characters feel like real people, with flaws, strengths, and great backstories that add layers to their personalities. Witnessing their growth and development over the course of the series has been a deeply rewarding experience.

And, oh, the romance! It's not just a side plot; it's a driving force that adds an emotional intensity to the book. The chemistry between the characters is insane.

Now, let's talk about those covers. I, too, am guilty of being drawn to books with pretty covers, and in this case, my judgment paid off. The cover art sets the perfect tone for the magical journey within the pages. However, what truly surprised me was that the content matched, and dare I say, exceeded, the allure of the covers.

In conclusion, L. R. Friedman has not only met but surpassed my exceedingly high expectations. This series has become a literal addiction, and I'm eagerly counting down the days until the next installment. If you're a fan of fantasy, romance, and impeccable storytelling, do yourself a favor and dive into this series. Just be prepared for the emotional rollercoaster that awaits, especially in those last chapters. I'm still trying to recover from the aftermath, and I can't wait to see where the she takes us next in this journey.

Thank you so so much to the incredible author for gifting me an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!!!

“It’s the same thing day after day-hunting some sign that she’s still there.
That she’s still mine.“

“Your champion’s not done with you yet.”

“Life didn’t give us what we deserved.
But that didn’t mean I wouldn’t find a way to rebuild and find happiness on my own terms. Starting with taking control of this champion business.”

“But someone once told me you can’t fix what you refuse to face.”

When you write reviews, you try to put into words everything you experience while reading a certain book while also delivering the impact the characters, the story and the author themselves had on you. When it comes to this book… I know anything I will say will be an extremely short version of all the emotions I felt and the painful and joyful moments I had.
It was a masterpiece. I won’t say it was the best book in the series so far … but it definitely was the most emotional and tough one. From moment one I wanted to scream and cry over how unfair what was happening with Sloan and Aislin was. But then I was hooked when I found out some very interesting news about Neve. And then Daddy Redmond made his appearance and somehow I love him. And then we have so many deep and painful moments of family bonding and secrets unraveled (especially for Ky and Dru)!!!
But then the author delivers some really spicy times (check chapter 44 !!!!) and I was so happy and so hot !!!!!
Once again the magic was absolutely amazing and the women empowerment in this book is impressive and such an inspiration for every possible woman of every generation. If there is one thing this book and this series taught me is to stand up for myself right when I need to!!!
As always when I am ready a book in the Blaze Legacy series, it comes a moment when I want to throw the book to the other side of the room. This time around, I think I won’t be able to recover from what happens at the end. I know that when the author makes a decision is for plot purposes and storyline needs but this one … no matter how necessary for the story in the future it was, broke me in a thousand million pieces which I am still trying to put together !!!!! Thankfully I have some characters’ art to help me deal !!!!
And by the way, this author has a thing for cliffhangers … MASSIVE CLIFFHANGERS !!! So be prepared because … it will be a lot !!!!
Overall though I’m such a lucky gal who had the opportunity to experience all of this. When I read this book I feel so much like home it is insane and it is all thanks to the author who gave me this opportunity !!!

“Being inside of you isn’t a distraction.” I guided her legs apart, pressing myself against her so she could feel just how serious I was. “It’s a necessity.”

“Everyone can be the villain in someone else’s story.”

“Home is where my heart is with yours.”

“We’d fight.
We’d slay.
We’d conquer”

I FINALLY got around to reading my electronic ARC for Ascend in return for my honest review. When I tell you that Ascend is my favorite book of the Blaze Legacy series so far, I'm not exaggerating. The magic system with the fantasy creatures just keeps getting even better and even cooler as the series continues! Kyleigh as our main girl is growing into a strong woman in her own right under the tutelage of those around her, especially with her godmother Neve and the former Inverno Commander Sloan. Also, I'm not typically someone who curses, but my husband heard me chattering on about Sloan and finally asked me who she was, to which I responded "She's a bad*** and I LOVE her!" Needless to say, I was incredibly excited at the amount of Sloan content in this book. The ending of this book, like all the rest of L.R. Friedman's works makes me hungry for more! However, this time, I now have the very real, LONG wait until the next book's release since I was spoiled with being able to read the trilogy and the prequel novella within simply two months of each other during the Blaze Legacy Read-Along the author hosted on Instagram! I still adore all of my favorite main characters and cannot wait to see what comes next for all of them. I enjoyed getting to read about and learn about all of the rest of the kingdoms of Celaria in this particular book as well because it added so much substance to the world as a whole! This book, as well as its precursors Descend and Scale are my favorite 5-star rated trilogy I think I have read since my journey back into reading beginning in 2021! :)

Every work this woman writes is a 5/5 for me, and it is EARNED 🥹

1. The representation LR has for all sorts of people in her works is beautiful. We continue to see all colors of the rainbow in her characters, and all of them coming together to fight a common enemy. I so appreciate the acceptance of others throughout the realm, and the focus on the goodness of the human no matter where they come from.
2. Genuinely adore seeing the reconnection between characters, more of Isla’s soft side, and the strength of this found (and related) family.
3. The spice is *chef’s kiss* <3 so witty and so natural and so GORGEOUS. Lauren creates such authentic scenes of intimacy.
4. We gain so much more understanding of the magical system and how every realm’s power feeds into it, which is so COOL.
5. SPIDER! LADY!

Ascend is such a fantastic middle book to this series— giving world building and character connections we haven’t seen before, while building up to some INSANE reveals and setting us up for the ending we’ll get in books 4 and 5!

Ascend, Book #3 of The Blaze Legacy series, continues the story of an amazingly diverse cast of characters. It picks up where Scale (Book #2) left off, with lots of world building at its best. The reader is introduced to more magical realms and new characters worth further exploration.

Although many questions are answered, many more intriguing ones crop up throughout. The characters are fictional, but their range of emotions are real. They have pasts that need to be reconciled, presents that result in broken paths, and futures strewn with uncertainty. Be prepared to feel all the feels through them, including some heartbreaking moments.

I highly recommend Ascend and cannot wait to discover what L. R. Friedman dreams up next!

Why did you have to go and make me cry like that?! So rude! I loved this book so much. The emotional trauma caused by it is well worth it. I prefer spoiler-free reviews, but I feel like other than saying, "Omg, I hate these feelings you've forced on me, but I love this book so much," everything would be a spoiler! That twist?! And if you've read the book, you know the one I'm talking about... I assumed it would be... someone in the group. I had ideas, but then I also thought, new enemy?!

Just, ugh, I can't cope. I need a strong drink and a pillow to cry into.

I have watched the characters and their relationships grow so much in this series! This one made me want to remove myself from real life and visit all of the places... meet all of the characters. I loved the "motherly" feelings that came out in this book. Real or not, we all worry about our babies! I can't wait to see what's next in the Blaze series! AMAZING work Lauren (as usual)!

At last! Some quests! After a whole book that sat in place twiddling its thumbs and bouncing between tropes in the same few locations, we have some solid forward momentum for plot and character. The writing style also continues to improve, earlier hints of a strengthening voice confirmed, with more detail in the prose, more moments of sensory language, and an expansion of the worldbuilding as the edges of the map get filled in.

And there's a MAP! I love a good fantasy map! In addition to the fun map things, this one, alas, has the burden of putting into sharp relief how small this world is, as does the extent of the novel's travel, and some unexpected details like that there were only three dragons in the world at the time of the Blaze. Neither very broad, nor especially deep (literally, as you can swim to the bottom of the ocean easily enough), I'm not as enraptured with Celaria as I'd like to be. But at least there's more of it now, and the map looks lovely, which is always a positive mark.

Even with a stronger voice, The Blaze Legacy could use a stronger edit. There's some confusing word choice, including in the climax, that can make certain scenes difficult to follow. There are still plenty of line editing issues too: grammar oopses, weird syntax, mixed subject sentences, unclear character sizes at times when dealing with fae folk, wordy and repetitive internal monologue, and just some pure classic typos that should've been caught in the edit stage bring the story down a bit. Still plenty of clunk and lots of clutter, but each book has made for a more pleasant reading experience than the one before, and I look forward to seeing that continue.

I do wish there had been more payoff to Pitch beyond a handful of references. The final showdown between Deirdre and her lost sapling left a lot to be desired for all parties, and looks unlikely to be a continuing plot thread. And evil jackass Ciaran is just...dead off-screen from the Blaze, I guess? Even now, the extent of the Blaze and the stakes of the Enchantress' powers are unclear. We know she has become feared and hated overtime by superstition and folk wisdom, but her power levels (natural and stolen) and ultimate goals are muddled. What can she do? Why can't the combined might of multiple realms have taken her to task earlier? And now that her original goal is null and void, and the sympathy given by the events of Pitch rendered moot by the events of the climax, what are her plans? After becoming a fascinating and tragic character in her backstory novella, poor Deirdre is back to being a cipher and a plot device, and she deserves better, as a villain and a person. She may have ascended, but for what, really, and at what cost?

Up and down we go, from Ascend now to Fall. Time to see what comes of all this bloodshed, and Kyleigh's inevitable villain era

--Using an evil book that turns your body black to find your lost children as the tome slowly twists you to its will? DeirdreVision!

--I'm very satisfied with the amount of Mox content in this one. Recover well, my friend

--The f-bomb crutch is still on full display, with the frequent mid-sentence "fucking" adjective, in both dialogue and internal monologue, filling in for a more natural ramp-up of intensity

--I'm very glad there were several wisp chapters, as any intentional change in writing style makes a POV more interesting, and it lets us check in on Aislin's mental state. A shame nothing seems to have come of the time-disconnected hive mind the end of Scale implied the wisps shared, that was neat!

--Once again pacing is all over the map. Action picks up and drops off in odd places as we transition between quests. We get a weirdly placed flashback that felt like a repurposing of an early chapter, written before the decision was made to have a bit of a time jump between novels. It gives no new info and ends up just being an excuse for another sex scene (between two of the series' better characters at least!). There are a handful of other fully extraneous scenes, including two characters giving a mental rundown of the same details of one of the realms in back to back chapters, the first of which accomplished nothing else but to introduce that info that was then repeated in the more impactful next chapter (and won't payoff until book 4)

--"Rubbing my dragon orbs of their momentary shift..." oh the orbs, always about the orbs, I've heard so much about the orbs, find another word to describe dragon eyes that doesn't feel so silly!

--Hey, did you know these characters are broken? Because they sure think so, and will continue to remind you constantly. A cloying amount of self-pity forms the backbone of each character's angst, and I wish their pain felt more unique

--This series continues to feature lots of alcoholism as people turn to the same unhealthy coping mechanisms. Every time, the drunk character ends up speaking their inner monologue aoud without meaning to, and they are always surprised when someone calmly recites their thoughts back to them. It remains a very silly trope, that I have yet to see in action (does anyone really do that??). Be a little more conservative with the booze, sir breezetender!

--I got more out of Isla's first 3-page flashback than I did out of two whole books, as far as rampant connecting and theorizing goes. The little seeds of backstory seemed to be going somewhere, and will hopefully not be shut out entirely by the events of the climax. The cost of the Inverno magic bubble, as of now, feels needlessly wasteful, at least until we properly get into the consequences

--I guess the magic gem doesn't need the Evergleam as much as the tree does the gem? Besides the failed bonding, magic seems unaffected by the tree pitching a fit

--The underwater kingdom conjures some lovely images. Silly underwater physics, an impossibly exhausting swim down, and inconsistent ability to speak even magic-assisted can make it a little difficult to buy into though. Those mermaid kisses must be powerful indeed to account for the stresses of water pressure

--There's some non-monogamous representation in this novel but it doesn't involve the best ethics, and so far has only occured among the most sex-obsessed (and non-human) cultures in Celaria. "He beamed, pleased with the effect his sudden heroics was having on his females." Retch. More for the casual misogyny than the grammar, but neither sparks joy. "Shouldn't you be at home mating?" is *very* funny though

--If anything happens to the refugee fairies, I'm rioting. Their little haven is lovely

--This writer does not like spiders, and it shows. The otherwise potentially fascinating Alucinor suffers from it, as their cultural morals are hazy at best, feeling consistently predatory, and our POVs spend most of their time in the region being disgusted by its most common inhabitants. Justice for the Alucinorian spiders!!!

--In today's Reptile Report, we have dragons again, shifter dragons which makes proper taxonomy difficult. That said, after how Alucinor's spiders got treated, it might be for the best that there isn't more reptile representation

A bigger world still shudders under the weight of its people's angst as we start to get some answers, 6/10

Possible Spoilers….

Ascend is one of my top reads this year. Lauren did an incredible job in the third installment. All of the amazing world building was leading to these moments. This was set up so well. My heart was absolutely shredded at the end, because I did not see it coming. Prepare yourself for a wild ride.lol
Most important if you have not read Pitch, you should read it before Ascend.

I don’t want to spoil any of the discovery moments. So what I can say is you will get to read more about Neve, love her. Ox and Neve together is chefs kiss. The spice between these two is off the charts.

There are some incredible scenes of Kyleigh finding out more about who she is, and with that you get an entirely new world element. I was shocked with this one in the best way. What I loved most is seeing her friendship grow with Sloan.

Redmond is still well Red. Lol I loved seeing him and his journey to right the wrongs he’s created. I can’t wait to get more of him in the next installment. He’s got the best humor. Lol

I went in feeling different about The Enchantress. After reading Pitch, I wanted her to have some closure. Of course she’s still up to no good and destroying everything around her. She’s on her path of revenge and I may have cried some more for her.
At the end of the book my mind was blown.

Aislin is a wisp, so her POV is slightly different. It’s a great inside look to more of The Enchantress. I can tell you that Sloan does get Aislin back.

This series is for any reader that loves epic fantasy and is looking to escape into a beautiful world. Lauren describes everything so well that you can clearly visualize it all around you. If you love characters that can all be justified in their actions, go read immediately. This is still what I love most about her writing. There really is no bad character. It’s all a matter of perspective. Truly one of the best fantasy series out there.

Quotes:

Destruction might be my only legacy, but if the people I cared about could be safe, could really live—that would be enough for me.

When you rule a kingdom, no one’s approval matters but your own. Being a leader means you have to live with your decisions.

Your champion’s not done with you yet.

I’ll be brave for the both of us. Remember?

But staying like this, burning with her, it was easier than burdening her with the second blow I’d have to deliver soon enough.

Ascend is the third book of The Blaze Legacy series, a dark portal romantasy. It picks up where Scale left off.

I just finished reading Ascend, and I must tell you that Friedman has ripped out my still beating heart, but in the very best way. Her writing is completely captivating. I am so invested in her characters that it pains me when they hurt. I now have to sit with this pain until some time next year when the fourth book is planned for release. I'm not sure this is quite was is meant when they say we need to sit with our pain in order to heal. Knowing that the fourth book is not the final book in this series, I fully anticipate Friedman dancing on my ripped out heart before maybe, possibly, hopefully, picking it back up, dusting it off, and handing it back to me. What does it say about me that I can't wait?

So... Ascend. Our big bad (The Enchantress) keeps getting stronger and the likelihood of her escaping her prison appears imminent. If she gets out, the threat to the realm is real. In this book our characters split up into smaller groups to seek out alliances from others in Celaria. Redmond and Ox venture to Tesciellus to meet with the Mer folks' King Morrow and Queen Maren while Kyleigh and Sloan endeavour to find support in Alucinor from the Weavers. At the same time, Neve takes Dru to Renegade Trench to meet with the faeries. He hopes to get assistance translating the ancient tome stolen from the Enchantress. If you think there's a lot going on in this book, you're right, and this is just what's going on on the surface. There's a lot more happening underneath. The author continues to weave in clues, and unravels others, leaving readers shocked, bewitched and enthralled.

In a word, Ascend is more: more of what we love, more of what we love to hate, more adventure, more intrigue, more spice, more of the unexpected, and of course it leaves us wanting more.

In the words of King Redmond, "I wasn't ready for how crushing it would feel." Pardon me while I go sit in a dark room and silently weep. I'll leave the door open should you wish to join me.

‘I finally understood what it took to be one of Arafax’s champions…I’d give my blood to the cause regardless. Only mine would do.’

3.75 ⭐️

Returning to the world of Celaria, Ascend is the third book in The Blaze Legacy series. Picking up shortly after the end of the last instalment, Scale, we follow a cast of characters as they seek to form alliances between the kingdoms of Celaria. These missions take the established cast of characters to new realms, to deal with inhabitants unknown. Will their efforts be enough to save the realm from the growing power of The Enchantress? Only time will tell.

I was excited to return to The Blaze Legacy series, having thoroughly enjoyed parts one and two. Reentering the world following the arrival of a new cast of characters I was excited to see where we would go next. Spreading the adventure into other lands within Celaria, both of which were beautifully rendered by Friedman was magical. Alucinor, land of the weavers, was particularly of interest and I found this to be the most intriguing section of the book. Learning more about the provenance of a number of the characters we already knew and loved was fascinating, leaving areas open for further exploration int he future. There were some pacing issues, for me, which slowed my reading as I became disengaged a couple of times. This was usually when it felt like the story was pausing to serve some spice/smut, which felt out of place particularly as the action of the book started to pick up. However, if you are a lover of spice (I am not) this will likely not interrupt your reading experience as it did mine.

Overall, a good addition to the cannon and I will definitely be back for books five and six. If you are interested in reading, The Blaze Legacy is available on Kindle and in paperback. If you like fantasy with a building level of spice, this is the series for you.

Please be aware, this series is written for adults and contains explicit, on page sexual content, graphic violence, death, mental health themes, mention of child abduction and magical drug and alcohol use.

Thank you to boundbymischief and LR Friedman for the opportunity to review this book.

"Everyonr can be the villian in someone else's story."

So I thought having a night of sleep would make this review more organized... but I still feel like a jumbled ball of emotions.

I'm so happy I got to go back to Celaria and spend more time with these characters! Overall, this book was AMAZING! In my opinion, it is the best book of the series.

The multiple POVs kept you on your toes and always anticipated the next chapter!! The POVs also helped expand into each of the character arcs, making you fall in love with ALL of them even more. It's pretty obvious who my favorite is.. cough cough Ox..... and I loved seeing more of his personality shine through.

I can't even talk about the EMOTIONS felt in this book!!!! All I will say is be prepared. Just buckle up and enjoy the ride. I flat out told @lrfriedmanauthor she ripped my heart out and danced on it....but I liked it. 🤣🤪 I laughed and cried. Ughhh, it was so good.

The world building was fantastic!!!!!! You see more of Celaria and the different territories. The way @lrfriedmanauthor did that was genius !!!

Seriously, READ. THIS. SERIES. This review was challenging to do without saying anything to revealing😬😬 Thank you, Lauren, for dealing with my reading updates and panic attacks while doing so.

REVIEW FOR ASCEND

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars

Thank you @lrfriedman for the gifted copy!

WHAT A WILD RIDE. This story was full of action, and definitely took a hard left when I wanted it to go right lol. The third book out of five in the Blaze Legacy left way more question than answers, but also left a lot of room for character growth and I just can’t wait to see where this leads to.

𝕊𝕐ℕ𝕆ℙ𝕊𝕀𝕊:
Book 3 picks up right where book 2 left off. Sloan is trying to figure a way forward with Aislin. Kyleigh wants to increase her connection with Drew. The Queen of Arafax is desperately still trying to find how to contain the Enchantress, and with the help of King Redmond of Inverno, Ox, Sloan and Kyleigh, she tries to strengthen the alliances across Celaria. Meanwhile, Kyleigh has a family reunion that is…less than expected.

𝕎ℍ𝔸𝕋 𝕀 𝕃𝕀𝕂𝔼𝔻:
action from start to finish
LGBTQ+ rep
Loved how the world building was weaved into the plot
Met a slew of fantasy characters
Gave me the satisfaction in knowing that, after reading Pitch, I CALLED THAT REVEAL! 🤣
multi-POV

𝕎ℍ𝔸𝕋 𝕎𝔸𝕊ℕ’𝕋 𝕄𝕐 ℂ𝕌ℙ 𝕆𝔽 𝕋𝔼𝔸:
With all the action at the end, it got a bit confusing as to where everyone ended up
I’m interested to see where Kyleigh’s arc ends up. She’s had a lot happen to her, but she also is overly angry I think. She’s now in a position that will require her to think bigger than herself. Not that she’s been selfish, but she’s lacked self awareness a bit

𝕆𝕍𝔼ℝ𝔸𝕃𝕃 𝕋ℍ𝕆𝕌𝔾ℍ𝕋𝕊:
If you love portal romantasy, you should read this series. I love the way this story has been woven together, and I am truly scared but also interested to see where this all goes. We are at the midway point of releases for this series with two books to go, so now is a great time to catch up. Thank you Lauren for bringing me on this journey with you!

Wow! Ok. Where do I start. It was so fun getting to know all these characters more and diving deeper into this world. I love Sloan so much and I enjoyed getting to live in her head and feel her emotions. 🥹 Mox is adorable and I NEED him 😍 We have a lot of different POVs in this books but one that stood out to me was Neve, we get to know her a bit more and see the deep scars she carries. There were some very creative magical elements introduced in this book and I’m really curious how that’s going to expand. There is a BIG plot twist. Some will hate it but really…. Idk I’m for it! (Don’t come at me I know, I know… butttt I said what I said 😂) I don’t know how to review this without giving away spoilers for the other books…. There’s just so much to rave about but I can’t rave with you until you read it so go get this series now! This is definitely a spicier book than the previous 2 so just keep that in mind. This is a great book and makes me even more excited for where this series is going!

This book is by far the best in the series so far! my jaw hit the floor so many times!
There is a massive cliff hanger that will leave you speechless, not going ti lie, I’m slightly mad lol.

This book takes you on such an emotional rollercoaster. There’s twists and turns, heartbreak, self discovery and such Raw pain that you can’t help but cry and feel for these characters. I’m not sure I’ve even recovered from this book.

This Multiple POV gives so much more depth to the characters, including ones you thought you disliked, just to realize you were wrong about them. The world building expands to different parts of Celaria. The world is far more vast then we realized and the different cultures and cities were so beautifully described

There is so much more to say about this book but I’m not going to give it away, just trust me and read this! You won’t be disappointed

I finished th his book hours ago and I’m pretty sure a part of me died. That’s the only way I can explain the heartache! I’m still in disbelief and I’m confident things aren’t as they seem. I know someone, at some point, said that in the series (I think it was actually in Pitch, but they all kind of muddled together).

I’m usually a pretty patient person, but when it comes to books and shows, I usually wait until the whole series is out so I don’t have to wait. I’m cursing myself for not doing that with this one. But also so glad for two things: the final TWO books in the series come out next year (thank the stars!), and they’re just too good to miss.

I deeply appreciated the adventures to the other parts of Celaria, glad I wasn’t the adventurer more often than not.

This one definitely took me on a roller coaster of emotions.

And just when you think it can't get better then Scale. L. R. Friedman did it again. I loved being back in Celaria with the whole gang. The worldbuilding went above and beyond, whe got to see a whole lot more of Celaria and all the different species living there.

I still like it so much that you get to read from so many of the characters of the books, you'll get a piece of everything and Friedman described it all so amazingly.

Friedman really has a way of writing that sucks you deep into the story. You will laugh, you will feel the love of the characters so much and you will deffinitely cry.

This whole series is for sure on my all time favorites list to read and reread.

Thank you author for the ARC to read, you left me a sobbing mess and I can't wait for the next book to dive in.

Oh my god, this book, my heart, my head. I've been trying to warp my head around this to write this review since I finished it and I'm at a lost for words. I didn't almost fling my phone like after scale but this ending was bittersweet especially after reading Pitch. I'm so glad I didn't skip it because seeing everything revealed in Ascend is a mind blowing experience.

In this book we got to see more of Celaria and I just loved getting to know about more of the magic within this world. This book was heartbreaking, there were happy tears, sad tears, laughs, plot twists that had you gasping, ah ha moments when things click and awwwws. I absolutely loved it. Idk how to process this without spoiling it so I'm just saying that if you haven't started this series yet, you're missing out.

I really love the Blaze Legacy series. I'm reviewing the last book I read first as I am new to Goodreads, and I decided to post reviews most recent to least.

The author, J. R. Friedman is so gifted at creating the world these characters live in, how the magical systems work, and character development. I truly wish I had this kind of talent. Kyleigh is by far my favorite character as I identify with her perseverance and determination. She goes through the arcs in this book, dealing with her relationships with the other characters and the resulting adventures with true tenacity. I also love the way the author puts on side adventures, if you will, that keep the reader intrigued and engaged.

It's definitely worth the read.

We got more POVs and got to explore more of Celaria. Loved getting more information about the different kingdoms (and got visit them). The weavers kingdom was so interesting, I could picture it perfectly in my mind.

There were so many twists and turns in this book, all of them surprised me. They kept me on my toes and interested as reader.

I got most of questions answered, but now I have more theories. I'm excited for where this series is headed next.

I'm intrigued by some of the new POVs, and I can't wait to see where and what they do in the future. I love when Sloan uses her Mox vision.

Ox is still one of my favorites (along with Travis).

Thank you for an ARC of this book because "Scale" left me with so many questions and desperate for more! 😭

This is book 3 of an ongoing series 📚

Out of all three books, THIS one will shatter whatever is left of your heart after reading book 2. The rollercoaster that this woman has us on is insane, but I think I'm even more insane because I don't want to get off 😭🤣

Secrets and sacrifices. Dear God, I'm not well after finishing this book. Find me reading straight smut for a month while my body remembers what tears are because I left them all in this book.

Start the series with "Descend" 📖

Wow! This book left me heartbroken… You get so many more perspectives in this one and take an even deeper dive into the world of Celaria. As a reader, be prepared for a rollercoaster of emotions. Character growth is a huge point in this book, in my opinion. You get to see how certain characters react to trials and tribulation and grief and despair as well as see who steps up and helps. Of course, shoutout to one of my favorite characters, Ox. I have always loved him since the first book but him in this third installment has solidified it! I love that he plays more of a role in this one.
I cannot wait for the next book!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Review to come- too busy sobbing

Thank you so much to LR for sending me an ARC copy to review! <3
REVIEW:
Okay, I am utterly losing my mind over this book and it's been a week since I finished it. LR's writing is absolutely enchanting and this story is so fun (and stressful at times) to be in. After the cliffhanger at the end of Scale, I NEEDED this book to give me all of the answers, and not only did it Do The Things, but it also somehow gave me more questions. The plot is so amazing and doesn't suffer from Middle Book Syndrome where nothing happens- it definitely keeps you on your toes!

The characters are so lovable and whilst I will never forgive LR for the ending, I cannot wait for not only the rest of this series, but any of her other books in the future. If you love fae, dragons, mythical creatures in general (there are so many in this book and it's so fun to read), high stakes, steamy romance, and amazing writing: READ. THIS. BOOK.

This book has broken me.

I absolutely love this series. Kyleigh, Dru, Ox, Sloan and Aislin have my heart. I can’t pick any favourites and I think I would gladly follow any of them into battle.

I’m still a bit torn on Redmond but my heart is definitely softening towards him.

This stunning series is getting better and better with every book and this one had me cursing, cheering and weeping.

To say anything more would be a massive spoiler

Having said that, I think I might hate the author for the emotional damage that’s come with that ending. I’m not sure I’m going to get over it.

Bring on book four…

🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️/5

The Blaze Legacy continues with the third installment of the series. All of our favorite characters are back and trying to stop the Enchantress from being released from her cabin prison.

I will say the twists and turns this book sent me through had me shook. This is my favorite book in the series so far and it wrecked me. I fell in love with each of the characters even more and learned new things I didn’t see coming. At this point, I don’t trust that anyone is truly a villain because everyone has a story. Also, Redmond starting to get the redemption arc he deserve ❤️

Pick up this series if you haven’t already! Now I’ll be twiddling my thumbs waiting for the next books!

Ascend is the third installment of The Blaze Legacy and this series just gets better and better!

I loved how the multiple POVs gave us amazing insight into the characters, world, and the story a way that a single POV couldn't. I enjoyed even reading about characters that we love to hate and seeing everything from their perspective.

I also loved how much more of the world building and magic we got to see in this one, without it ever feeling like an info dump.

Thanks so much for the ARC, L.R. Friedman! This book was such a great time!

Ascend is the third book in the Blaze Legacy and it absolutely blew me away!

We finally get answers to questions that have been building since the first book, but yet there is still so much I need to know! It was the best book of the series so far. LR Friedman has a way with words and can wrap her world building so seamlessly within her writing it does not feel like info dumping and pulls you in over and over again! I could not get enough of it.

I seriously cannot wait to read the next one and find out what happens! That ending left me stunned and baffled and I NEED ANSWERS!

Ok idk this one wrecked me. Just gut wrenching and shook me so hard. I’m trusting the process and her visions but man. 😭 Each book in this series has been even better than the last and just so full of surprises. If you have been on the fence about this series, this should be the tipping point. Go add it to your TBR immediately if you love romantasy. the plot twists are so insane but also somehow so organic. 🫣😮 that’s actual footage of me reading this book. So many things have happened to our MCs in this one and I’m dying to start the next book to get more answers.
