Pestilence in the Darkness

Rate this book

How much would you sacrifice to keep your family safe?

Jake and Mollie Caldwell spent years planning for an unknown future, with the intention of providing for their children and grandchildren.

Surrounded by danger, they band together with the community of Bakerville to move to a new defensible location. But they weren't prepared to have to give up so much for the security they so desperately need.

And they quickly learn trust must be earned, not freely given.

Pestilence in the Darkness is the sixth installment of the Havoc in Wyoming Christian Futuristic series. If you like mysterious apocalyptic events, fast-paced adventure, and plausible situations, then you’ll love this page-turning series.

Discover why readers love this twist on the Post-Apocalyptic genre!

The Havoc in Wyoming series has been described as “Cozy” Apocalypse and contains no profanity, gratuitous sex scenes, or overly detailed gruesome death scenes. However, it does contain conservative family values and references to God, prayer, scripture, and Christianity.

Millie Copper, writer of Cozy Apocalyptic Fiction and preparedness mentor, was born in Nebraska but never lived there. Her parents fully embraced wanderlust and moved regularly, giving her an advantage of being from nowhere and everywhere.

Millie Copper lives in the wilds of Wyoming with her husband and young son, tending chickens and attempting a food forest on their small homestead. After living off the grid for several years, they've recently gone back on the grid. Four adult daughters, three sons-in-law, and five grandchildren round out the family.

Since 2009, Millie has authored articles on traditional foods, alternative health, homesteading, and preparedness-many times all within the same piece. Millie has penned seven nonfiction, traditional food focused books, sharing how, with a little creativity, anyone can transition to a real foods diet without overwhelming their food budget.

The twelve-installment Havoc in Wyoming and six-installment Montana Mayhem Christian Post-Apocalyptic fiction series use her homesteading, off-the-grid, and preparedness lifestyle as a guide. The adventures continue with the upcoming Dakota Destruction series.

Millie Copper has done it again with another gripping story. The community members have someone among them that cannot be trusted and they must figure out who it is. The relationships and drama among the characters as well as the drama of "who is doing this?" drew me in and made me keep reading long past when I should have been in bed.

The series should be read in order, it makes it much easier to remember "who is who". I received a copy of the book from the author for an honest review.

Millie Cooper brings us another superb story with living characters who find themselves struggling to survive. These characters come together and support each other as a community, despite the dissension of a few. They continue to overcome adversities and band together. I loved this story and would recommend that others read it.

Good clean story

I have enjoyed this series with trials and tribulations of over coming problems along the way. The only drowning back I have is too many characters to keep track of. Would like to see a Readers Digest version and resolution to the original attacks or lack of U.S. military's response. I liked the Christian flavor and clean background without the usual unnecessary bedroom scenes. Having every book starting from scratch was somewhat distracting

I've enjoyed this series, but this book wasn't as good as the others. She added a lot of new characters who we only know by name, and talks about a city they came from, with a very tiny bit of info on how horrible it was.
A lot does happen, but a lot of it was just senseless filler. It could've been set in any town at any time... I'm still going to read the next one.

Choose continues

Dr. Sam dies from a gunshot wound, and part of the community moves up to the dude ranch and ski lodge for the winter in an effort to survive. There a4e squabbles and one group tries a hostile takeover and after going back to the river group for goose hunting there’s another double surprise. Will keep you engaged.

Lots of mystery

Book six has quite a bit of mystery in it. It doesn’t move as fast as the other books in the series, but it is really hard to put down about two-thirds of the way through. It sure ends on a cliffhanger!! Great read!
