The Chrysocolla Chronicles

Rate this book
In the country of Chrysocolla it’s Brylees job as Lieutenant of the Kings Army to rid the country of evil mages who have been outlawed and on the run since the murder of King Bhaltairs late wife, Queen Sylvaine Sigurd. Life has always been the same for Brylee, wake up, go on patrols, drink at the tavern with her best friend Silas. Until one day while out on patrol in the Tanzanite Forest, she is attacked by a Lycan which had long been extinct. Injured from the battle Brylee blacks out, awakening later to find herself in a place she doesn't recognize. A man enters the room introducing himself as Ailliard Valiovar, General to the Queen of Mages. Within the enemies’ compound Brylee meets the Mage Queen who reveals to Brylee that she must stay within the compound for the safety of all who reside there. With no other options available to her, Brylee begrudgingly accepts. As the weeks go on, she gets to know the mages that live within the compound, Ailliard being one of them. The more time they spend together she finds it hard to resist this magnetic pull that lingers between them. Everything in her tells her it's wrong to fall for the enemy, but she cannot deny what she feels for him. In a series of events Brylee finds herself torn between the world she’s always known or this new world with the mages she finds herself a part of. War is on the horizon, will Brylee stick to all that she knows and has been taught to believe, or will she stand by Ailliard and fight for the mages?

Story is good with many potentials. But somers things aren't very consistent. How does she know who made the lycans all of a sudden? She said she won't bring potions because she doesn't know how they work, and when she finds Allia she suddenly has 2 potions?
If these sort of things are sorted out, the story is great.

I want to start off by saying the story itself is fantastic! Magic, romance, drama everything you want in a fantasy novel. My issue is the editing, I struggled through so much of the book because of this. Examples: "In the distance I saw the monistary in the distance", "that was something I would no compromise on" and so many more. That being said I have no doubt the next book will be much more polished and I'm looking forward to it.

Wow! What an ending! I can't wait to read the next book in this series and see what happens. This is a sexy romance set in a magical world. Once the book kicked into gear, I truly loved it

2.5⭐️

this was the first fantasy book i’ve read in a looooonggg time so i spent a majority of the first half of the book confused and having to go back and reread paragraphs where i felt like i may have missed things? there were a few plot points that i feel contradicted things mentioned earlier in the book (which only left me more confused)

once the romance started up i was having a great time. i do wish it would have been more true to the enemies to lovers aspect of it because i did find it to be a bit instalovey (but i still enjoyed it)

i’ll more than likely be reading the next book because the cliffhanger actually left me curious as to where the story will go

That ending tho

Someone que the song, "I need a hero" because I need one man. I loved this book. Little slow in the begining but it picked up pace. I really liked the fight scenes!

Recently finished reading the book THE CHRYSOLLA CHRONICLES by COURTNEY E QUINN and turned out to be a fantastic adult fantasy romance book. The concept of the book is decent but the treatment with the story has been amazing and that makes this book wonderful. The plot is gripping and the twists and turns will keep you hooked till the end. I thoroughly enjoyed the book while reading and i would like to recommend it to you all.

Plot-
The plot revolves around Brylee, who is lieutenant of the kings army in the country of Chrysolla and her main job is to get rid of evil mages who are on the run since the murder of the queen. Brylee's life was going normal until one day she was attacked by a Lycan which had long been extinct. Brylee goes black out and after waking up she finds herself in the territory of the enemy where she meets a man Ailliard Valliovar, general to the queen of mages and also the queen of mages. She had no choice but to stay there and on the course she started to fall for Ailliard but he was an enemy. Now Brylee had to decide between her kingdom which she has always known or the mages she is now part of. What will she do?

Writing-
The book is well written and the story that it follows is gripping and will keep you to the edge of your seat. The characters have been written well and every character has a powerful role to play. I really liked the chemistry between Brylee and Ailliard and the concept of two enemies falling for each other as it maintains the interest of the readers throughout the story. The language is easy to understand and the narration has been quite good. The length of the book is not so long and you can finish it quickly as you will not be able to put it down once you start reading it. The description of war scenes were to the point and excites you to the fullest. Overall it was a great book with good title and cover page and you can definitely go for it.

The Chrysocolla Chronicles was such a fun read! A wonderful exploration into a fantasy world with a strong female protagonist. I love that while Brylee is an independent woman, and fierce lieutenant, you were able to see her anxiety or overthinking in some of her situations. I felt I could relate with her because she wasn’t a perfect cookie cutter heroine. This story will leave you wanting for more, more details, more pages, more chapters! The story will hook you, and while you read to stay in the world, you’ll be sad as the pages you have left dwindle. I wanted more details on Brylee and her romance, it moved quickly and hooked you from the first glance, first flutter. Such a wonderful debut novel, I can’t wait to see where this story leads, you’ll need book two ASAP to answer your burning cliffhanger questions!

For fantasy readers

Brylees job as Lieutenant of the Kings Army is to rid the country of evil mages. One day, while out on patrol in the forest, she is attacked by a Lycan. Ailliard saves her, and as Brylee gets to know him and the mages that live within the compound, she finds herself drawn to them and realizes they are not what she was taught they were. The more time her and Alliard spend together, the harder it is to resist this magnetic pull between them. Everything in her tells her it's wrong to fall for the enemy, but she can not deny what she feels for him! War is coming. Can they stop it? Can't wait for book 2 to find out!

The book is really good book. I love how the author had a page on how to pronounce the names of the characters correctly as well as the locations as well. I like how the author made the main character a female and made an lieutenant of the Army. Certain parts of the book was confusing such as where the character didnt know how to do potions and such but then later she was found with two potions. The story was kinda slow pace but when it picked up it had action and the level of spice was the right amount. The only thing is that the book was short i wanted the story to continue. Overall is a really good book.

I really wanted to like it, but I had to force myself to finish this, and it didn't even have a lot of pages.
It feels like a badly written fanfiction. The ideas are okay, the execution not so much.
The format was strange and straight from the first few pages, there were so many grammatical and spelling mistakes that lasted throughout the whole book. I am fairly sure the writer did not have a single person proof-read the book before she published it, because if she had, so many of these simple mistakes could have been avoided. It made it almost unbearable to read.

As someone who typically only reads dark romances, this was definitely a nice change of pace. This book is so detailed with the scenery descriptions that you can almost imagine being there. It definitely brings your imagination to another world and I absolutely loved that.
And can we talk about the cliffhanger?!? Can’t wait to read the next book!

The only reason why I gave it 4 stars was because there were some chapters that made me want just a bit more. Other than that I loved it.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the details and the plot twists and the cliff hanger at the end is great. I felt Brylee was a really relatable character and I loved the relationship with her and Ailliard. I actually just started reading books again after a hiatus (baby and toddler years and lack of free time) so I felt like this was a perfect book for me to get back into reading. Highly recommend!

I loved this book. Not really knowing fantasy fiction I gave it a try and it is fantastic. I love that the main character is a strong woman, a warrior and not some wilting flower. I can’t wait for book 2 !!!’ I definitely will be following this author.

Good plot, enjoyed the read. Wish there was a little more "enemy" before "lovers" to it...seemed like it was a friendship that blossomed. I also wish Ailli would've kept his nickname throughout the book instead of switching back and forth the whole time. Obviously starting book 2 though🤣

Fun, fast, easy read. Enjoyed the characters and just enough world building to immerse yourself but not too much. I liked that it’s not an agonizingly slow burn Romantasy. A decent bit of spice and some good battles. Also a serious cliffhanger! Definitely need the next book!

what a cliffhanger!!!

It wasn’t that much of an enemies to lovers. It’s a pretty fast pace book. I loved the spice in it and I can’t wait to read book 2

The story has potential but it was so inconsistent. There was the assassins and the lycan but not much on like who was making/sending them then suddenly at the end she throws it out that it was the king. Never was there talk that the mage queen was the rightfully ruler of chrysocolla but again it suddenly seems to be the case in the last few chapters? At one point she says she does not grab any potions because she is not a mage but but then when she finds Ailli hurt she offers him two potions from her bag.

Not to mention so many spelling errors which I know can happen but there was a lot for such a small book, as well as a chapter ending with an unfinished sentence. Just ends in the middle of a word. Plus the formating was so strange, nothing like I have ever seen, one person talking for another to saying something right after in the same line no new paragraph or anything.

For the paper back the cover felt nice and so do the pages, thicker, but I had a line on the left side of a lot of pages that seemed to smear some of the text not to horrible but on a good amount of pages but that is a printing issue.

I have never written a review like this but this book just blew my mind at the mistakes, I don't think I will be getting the second book.

**Edit after getting a new copy from the author

I upped the stars because a few plot holes had been fixed, as well as some of the bad formatting, and the chapter that ended in the middle of a word. I also upped it because how well the author handled the low rating.

While some of the bigger plot holes got fixed there where still minner things I found and I still feel if the time was taken a little more character building could have been done to make her friend ship with Siles feel stronger as well as build the romance a little better as things still felt very rushed to me. As I said the story has potential and I plan on sending my thoughts more in detail to the Author for no other reason then to help because I want to see people do well.
