Thandie Porter's life was nothing short of a fairytale. She had the perfect career, the perfect husband, and the perfect friends. But when her supposedly perfect husband Dwight drops a bomb that threatens the life they've built together, Thandie is dumbfounded. Realizing the only option is divorce, the two part ways, and things couldn't have happened at a worse time than Christmas. Now, having lost part of the wonderful life she once lived, Thandie wants nothing to do with Christmas or any celebrations of it. But when her friend convinces her to come out to the Cherry Oak Bay cabins, Thandie finds herself trapped with a handsome gangster, making her realize that getting in the Christmas spirit will be the least of her worries.
Hezekiah Dade has lived the life most aspiring drug dealers and kingpins wish for. He's indulged in money, women, and plenty of luxuries. But now, at the age of forty-one, he's retired and moved back home to the small town of Cherry Oak Bay. When his longtime fiancee and her father begin to put pressure on him to set a wedding date, Hezekiah panics, needing a quick escape to decide if he can love her or leave her. He finds that escape in the Cherry Oak Bay cabins while snowed in with the beautiful but grumpy Thandie.
Will sparks fly between these two passionate but intense individuals? And if so, can they prove the romance is real, or will they find that their snowed-in romance was only meant to be short-lived?
*This is a standalone novel. No other books need to be read prior. These are all new characters*
I wanted to snow in, too, with this fine man. After the husband asked for a divorce when he knew his wife did not want kids, and he miraculously did, I knew the stuff would hit the fan. But have no fear; Thandie was not heartbroken. She found a better replacement for Mr. Button-up Derek for Zeke, a former thug with lots of zeros in his account. I liked this roughneck, and he was what Thandie needed after dealing with the boooring ex-husband. I loved this story...
This was different and I didn't necessarily love it. I didn't get enough of Thandie and Zeke, so I couldn't really tell if there were really any chemistry between them. Something was off between Janicia and her dad and it felt incomplete to me. Like is Dad going bankrupt, is he running out of money, is Dad really dad? Something was off and I'm not sure what it was. The same with Thandie and Dwight. It didn't seem like Thandie had any closure with Dwight. Zeke was a little arrogant to me. Yes, he had money, he had power, he used to push major weight in the city, he's respected by all, but still he was a little arrogant. He didn't give BDE vibes. He was just a dick. Just because you fessed up and came clean about your cheating doesn't justify it. Janicia may have been an overly excessive daddy's girl, but you were with that girl for 11 going to 12 years. I didn’t like how he did her. And honestly I'm not a big fan of any relationship that start off with cheating. Both Thandie and Zeke 👎🏾
I am still trying out new authors in this new year. Ms. Latrice I have to admit I was a little leary of how Zeke and Thandie were going to connect. However, Zeke was that guy. He fell and loved hard. His hustle wasn't only career-wise but personal as well, what he wanted he worked to get. Thandie was on his radar and he pursued her until he got her. My heart did go out to Janecia because she stayed in a relationship for eleven years and still didn't get the man. Janecia just took "daddy's girl" to a whole other level. She was involving her father too much in her personal life. And I have to agree with Zeke, I think Dwight was being petty when he delivered his news. Zeke and Thandie's chemistry was smoking. The cabin fever they experienced molded them together. It opened Zeke's eyes and heart, he was able to figure out the next step in his life.
Overall, this was a magnificent read. It had just the right amount of drama to keep your attention. I was expecting Thandie to change her mind about kids. I knew her odds were low but I love a happily ever after that includes a ring, baby, and wedding.
Getting snowed in can be a good thing. Different type of read from Shavonne, but I’m here for it. Thandie and Zeke two souls at a crossroad, meet unexpectedly and are snowed in creating a combustible situation. Dwight was a coward of man to do what he did. Janecia neede to grow the hell up and loosen the reigns her father had her in and lost out.
This book was so different from anything that she’s written before. And I was so here for every bit of it! I couldn’t put it down! I would love books like this. She can’t disappoint! Sensational job!
I have tried to read books from Shvonne Latrice before, specifically the Crenshaw Kings series, but with the series being so lengthy, I couldn't commit to it...I'm a mood reader. Don't judge me.
Anyway, I downloaded Snowed In Love with You during one of those Black romance book events a few months ago but I didn't get around to reading it. Now I'm mad that no one recommends this book because I could've read this really cute story a long time ago!
I really loved Thandie and Hezekiah!
Snowed In Love with You is wayyyy too short. Yes. I said it. Typically I accept whatever authors give us with their books but not this time...I have to express my discontent lol.
I wanted so much more from these two.
The story is engaging right from the first page, the book is well-written, and the characters are very well developed -- everything I need to get sucked into a book. And boy oh boy did I get sucked into Snowed In Love with You. I highly recommend this to Black romance readers everywhere.

After being married for so many years Thandie’s husband came left field about a request that she could not fulfill and he took matters into his own hands and left her shattered and despaired that their marriage went down the sewer drain because he had a change of heart!
Meet Zeke who also trying to get his life together to see if he wants to be tied down with a woman he’s been with for years and now he is dissatisfied with his own situation.
Their lives were somewhat parallel (just one was married and one seeing if marriage is for him), but they were both in longterm relationships).
Due to mix-up in reservations their world collided and it got interesting, but at the end if their stay they both had clarity on their future with a lil bit of persistency from Zeke who was relentless LOL 😂!
Love this standalone. The characters were mature both in their age and about their business. Zeke could have been a retired athlete or entertainer,IMO. No need for the cliche illegal profession as a way to become a millionaire. Appreciate the growth of the lead female character been a true professional. Very inspiring and uplifting character. Even the families were well respected, no parent was a drug addict or prostitute,or dead beat.
Also even though Dwight was heartless in his decision to end their marriage, it open the door for Zeke. Would have love for Dwight to wallow in regret, while Thandie remain happily remarried with a baby...that would have been a perfect ending.
Didnt love it but didn't hate... one thing Dwight got off too easy, I know Thandie was trying go the mature route but effff thatttttttttt lmfao, he deserve more than what he got. Zeek was wrong honesty or not, he knew he ain't wanna marry that girl just kept her cause it was comfortable. Janieca and her father got something weird going on just cant put my finger on it. Regardless the reason Zeek was there he should of told Thandie from the jump what it was.... give her the chance to choose. Thandie was a annoying too lol. They say opposites attract and regardless of how it started they got the love that they wanted.
Shvonne Latrice brought us a quick, short, well written story that flowed well and did not disappoint. Although I felt that it was different from her other works, i absolutely loved it. Initially, I was upset with the way that Dwight left Thandie, but Zeke came through and made me forget Dwight existed. Man, that lift scene almost took me out. The saying that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure was definitely the case for Thandie. Great book that was well worth reading.
Now MS. Latrice, you know how good your stories are which means you know you have no business with short stories because we will always going to want more… Thandie and Zeke were so cute and good but I was truly hoping for a Christmas miracle at the end, just as Dwight was trying to up one on her. Janecia was pathetic. I don’t usually reading holidays short stories and only a few authors can and will make me take the plunge; MS. Shvonne Latrice is absolutely one of them and that’s for any category!
I’m always going to like every book that Ms. Latrice writes. However, Zeke was wrong. His excuse for not marrying Janieca was lame at best. He should not have led that girl on for 12 years wasting her time. He knew that he didn’t want her. Now, I liked the chemistry between him and Thandie. I just feel like as decisive as he was about Thandie in such a short amount of time is as decisive as he should have been about his fiancée. So it was hard to root for them when you know that he was doing the fiancée bold.
Whew Zeke was a give it to you straight, no chaser type of man, and I loved that. Everything Thandie didn’t know she wanted or needed was Zeke. I’m so glad she let her guard down and took a chance on love. She so deserved it after dealing with Dwight. I hated it for Zeke’s ex fiancé she had been down for him for so long but she just wasn’t for him and I think she knew it as well.
This was really such a great read and an amazing story line, short sweet and to the point‼️
Honestly wish the characters were snowed in alone and spent more time together just the two of them. Zeke also could have just been single or fresh out of a more casual relationship. How he dropped his long term partner for the somewhat weak reasons explained was given too much time on page time to me. He didn't come off as a catch. Thandie's bougie attitude also made me roll my eyes like bffr. Overall, I loved the vibes of being snowed in, opposites attracting and characters that were in their forties. More stories with characters thirty plus.
I enjoyed this holiday story! The characters were grown and a out their business, even that jerk Dwight! Same was just what Thandie needed in her life! The way the relationship started was awkward shut Zeke was serious about b pursuing Thandie and I know his fiance wasn't for him, even Zeke mama knew! Anyway great holiday story, I hope to see more of Zeke and Thandie!
I loved your book, "Snowed In Love With You," Ms. Shvonne Latrice! Thandie was going to have a blue Chistmas, as she had just signed divorce papers, ending her fourteen year marriage. Her best friend convinced Thandie to come to the mountains to get away. Unfortunately, their cabin had been double booked, as they soon found out when a handsome stranger, Hezekiah, arrived!
To be married for about 14 years and agree to no children just to change you mind and divorce your wife is crazy. I would’ve had to put the paws on Dwight cuz sir what?? I was so glad Thandie met Zeke. Even tho he had his own complicated situation, they met at the right time. Opposites attract. Forced proximity while snowed in a cabin. He falls first. Happy ending. I enjoyed reading this Christmas read.
Sad as hell to see "fin" at the end of this because I want more of Zeke's rude ass. This love story was super cute with just enough hood to appease any reader. Thandie got a taste of that thug passion and I was super happy for sis despite the circumstances. So glad everything worked out in the end. Great job Shvonne.
Wow, this was an amazing short, love story. My heart hurt for Thandie, but she was strong and I knew she would get through it. Zeke was a breath of fresh air that Thandie needed and a prime example of why you shouldn’t just a book by its cover. All in all, this was a great read.
What happens when two strangers meet by chance & get snowed in together? Insta love! Thandie a prominent lawyer in Cherry Oak Bay, was just getting out of a broke marriage. Zeke a retired drug dealer, was having second thought about marrying his long time gf. After spending a week being snowed in, Thandie & Zeke realize opposites do attract. Great Christmas themed read!
My girl never disappoints. Only thing I’m disappointed in is how short it was. Know we not used to that with you . I bet it was hard for you to even write a short story lol. I love how zeke was a straight shooter and didn’t play about his woman lol . Until next time !
This has been one of my favorite holiday books! I love that Thandie’s character was strong, educated, and knew what she wanted. I love that Zeke knew how to handle a strong woman without overpowering her! This was such a sexy, spicy, and sweet read! I loved it!!
Opposites will attract that's inevitable for sure. This was a peace and love journey for me. Knowing what you want and knowing how to go about it to get it. They said Honesty is the best policy and It was definitely produced organically throughout this book from beginning to end, except on Wright's part. Great Read for me. ReneeG.
This book wasn’t as predictable but I do feel like it left some things out of the character development. Like a more in depth look at the main characters lives before the cabin. More deeper convo’s between them. It often seem as if they just liked each other and had sex. Which is not bad but it lacks the depth of so they are and why they are that way.
This story was okay…. This is about older age group. So keep that in mind. I felt like Thandie was lowkey judgmental when she keep bringing up Zeke past. She gave me those vibes of uptight woman. Them BAM look at her falling in love with a reform thug 😂. I felt like the ending of the book could have been more. Like added a year later epilogue or something.
Throw in Mother Nature, cabins, snowstorm, double-bookings, newly divorced, prolonging the inevitable, vindictiveness, and running into misplaced opinions and you have a toasty read…
Only downside, what happened or changed when they married? Did Thandie become a parent? Did Janecia let go?
One word comes to mind when I think of Thandie - prissy. The story was well written but the connection with her and Zeke felt forced. They may have been too opposite to attract. The ending was just a little bit rushed and not the style I’m used to from this author.
I'm never disappointed. I loved the book from beginning to end. I am definitely glad Zeke broke Thandie out of her bougie I don't do dope boys' stereotypes and gave her that thug loving to show her never judge a book by the cover. Again, I loved it.
Of course shvonne would not disappoint. I’m amazed how even though the book was shorter than most of her work it did not feel rushed and I still was able to bond with the characters.
